ive been using the same lenovo tablet using ibis paint a finger and a dream for 4 years, still going strong
I have been using the same Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch Tablet for over a DECADE ! Finally purchased a screen drawing tablet this past Christmas. I'm not gonna lie, having a screen tablet really motivates me to draw BUT it does not make my art "better." No matter what art supply you have, just MAKE ART and have fun !
remember kids if you don't have a mouse use your laptop touch pad. that how I started digital drawing while taping my pinkie with and icecream stick just to move the canvas with arrow key to reduce the pain in elementary school to wacom pen table from my middle school savings to hunion kanvas 13 with my sweat, tears, and blood money from commission in college

I once felt like having equipment could help me improve, but I quickly fell out of it due to not having money as I was just a teen. I have a job now and can afford one, yet I havent bought one because ive realized that artist's can study art like how a scientist studies science, the methods of expression and envoking some kind of feeling or portrayal of anything is based around the self. Art is like taking random stuff and making something cool with it, (because it is) and an art tablet is just one of those things you can take, same with legos, or ms paint, if an art tablet helps one improve, then great! But all methods can be honed, and learned, like learning to use a spear though your specialty is the sword, anyways, awsome video, I loved everything you said and it made me remember lots, instant sub!

I have the Wacom Graphite CTE that I've had for almost 20 years. No pen pressure. No screen. Came with Corell Painter. Carried it through high school and college. How it's still functioning is beyond me. ^^;
you really underrate your old art. the soft shading and light effects on the mouse drawing look SICK (compliment)

at least im not the only one who started drawing on a tablet on the samsung galaxy 10.1 art (i mean i have the newer one but still :D)
i started drawing tho with my finger on my phone and have only recently got a 10 year old tiny graphics tablet :) (ive defo seen a massive improvement in my drawing tho!
i used to drool over cintiqs.
after i used an ipad since the first ipad pro i've never touched my pc to draw. panning rotating and zooming with my fingers feels like im drawing on paper. especially with a matte screen protector. I would move to samsung if they had procreate. can't live without it.

You bought your expensive display tablet to be a better artist. I bought my expensive display tablet to play DS games with a touchscreen. We are not the same.
Jokes aside, I was scribbling on printer paper with dollar-store mechanical pencils before jumping right into the deep end with a display tablet, and WOW the possibilities have opened up. There really is no comparison. Now instead of scribbling in mechanical pencil grey, I scribble in mechanical pencil *blue*. Still trying to figure out how layers work so I can actually color my work. Fantastic video, subscribed, and you have opened my eyes to the possibilities of *layers*. I'll have to experiment some more.

Ive been dreaming of getting a tablet mostly for drawing for over a year, and last month i finally got a tab s7+. It really does help, drawing with your finger on your phone can make you beautiful piece, of course, but if you want long, thin and beautiful lines or just a decent program like krita, you gotta go with the tablet. I dont feel the need to get an actual, drawing only tablet for artists, even if i had all the money in the world.

i have the exact same tablet and i honestly can't recommend it enough, it helped me grow as an artist so much and now i can use it as i begin my journey as a graphic designer !!

Started as a finger drawer to a computer and mouse artist to a Wacom pad and have recently been promoted to procreate and Apple Pencil!!! Very great video and strong advice, as a kid I thought it was vital to have a drawing tablet but as seen now I just had to gain experience no matter the materials and I did accomplish that
I just bought that same tablet about a month ago!! It is really nice and I love the wheel. I recommend it :DD

This is kinda unrelated to the video itself, but I love the fact that you used the 3DS menu app sounds. Like I recognise the camera app sound, and some others. I haven't seen anyone use those cool sound effects from the 3DS! It was quite nostalgic to hear them again, because the 3DS was my first game console.

Pretty much went through same drawing experience as zepn. I also used the same xp tablet and chose my smol wacom one, I guess it was more comfortable since I am a bed artist lol. Then I got Ipad and omg, it saved me from endless procrastination. You can draw with anything really ( even toes) but tools really improve the motivation to create.
Omg I started out with traditional, then a kindle and a touchscreen laptop. then I got an iPad and even though it’s a mini it is amazing I did finger drawing until I got an Apple Pencil, I’m so thankful!

as someone who has a cintique, these new cheaper tablets seem more intriguing, affordable, and useful. as much as i love my cintique, the rise of these tablets peaks my interest
also they look much smaller and easier to bring with u if u move around quite a lot
I feel like almost every artist has used/uses a very old device at some point of their art journey (I’m still using and iPad from 2017)
Honestly this is so true, I used to use a school laptop and the screen was hanging by a single wire 😭 now I use an iPhone 11 lol

thats crazy cuz i also have a tabs7. i love it so much cuz samsun and androids are so versatile
tablets are super accessible now than when I first started looking at digital work. i used to draw traditional then scan and use my wacom bamboo tablet. Samsung has many budget tablets, and I'm sure apple has some previous gen tablets that can run procreate for a affordable price, but I don't know how many layers it would be able to handle (i've never used procreate honestly).
Huion Kanvas was my first digital screen tablet for about 450 back in 2019. I can't remember the model name but it was my first true full entry into 100 percent digital drawings. It was very nice to use. I used it with CSP but I'm sure you can use it with more affordable software/free software like Paint Tool Sai.

My first drawing tablet was a cheap one meant for Osu it sucked and didn't have any pressure sensitivity. And bc u didn't know how to use software and the tablet was awful I was terrible at digital art. Years later I was able to get a laptop and bamboo wacom and it was honestly great!
I ended up using a samsung tablet too, after wanting an iPad or expensive screen tablet for so long. It's been worth every single american buck I spent. I'm glad I settled for what I had, and continued making art regardless.
Honestly the program matters more than the tablet
I still draw with my fingers as an iPad kid lol, tho due to this I find it hard to draw with a tablet or even an phone touch pen. I don't really mind it as long as I'm having fun
I’ve been using my iPad mini, but I really do want to move up to more computer (I have a Wacom tablet but I particularly used it and ever since the ai thing, it made me get bored) but now I am trying to find a new tablet and maybe try again on the computer

i still draw with my ipad, and i only got an ipad 2 years ago. i used my phone since 2017 to draw! i’m still a finger artist. i like what i have and i actually got a tablet in 2019 but preferred using an ipad! it’s all up to you, but you don’t need good equipment for good art. my ipad art is better than anything i’ve made on an actual drawing tablet.

I cheated this lol. In 2020, my stepfather who tried to buy my love instead of spending time with me (which is a win win for me lol) bought me a citiq 16 and it’s absolutely GREAT. I love it
While the tablet doesnt need to be fancy and expensive, i recommend that if youre super used to like traditional, i would AVOID using a screenless as the disconnect can be pretty difficult and (in my case) nearly impossible to get over.
If you can afford it go for a screen tablet, otherwise just keep saving up. I never use my screenless huion anymore for drawing even though I dont have anything else for pc (i use a samsung tab s6 lite and krita as it works fine) just because that disconnect is impossible for me to get over due to being combination traditional and digital.
Also I FEEL the keys thing I literally bought an xp pen macro keypad and use it via USB c to USB on my tablet with krita

I opted to go for the Artist 10 2nd gen as my first tablet, after experiencing drawing on my phone with the Samsung S22 Ultra. It didn't come with a stand but i was able to get the stand, tablet, and an extra drawing glove for about $300 Canadian IIRC?
My only complaint is that it was supposedly compatible with my phone, but only ever worked once...

its very nice, and overall amazing and i *think* that theyre pretty much professional grade/the same as an expensive one in terms of everything (i think?) (well atleast the basics) (have no experience using anything else) except for the colors
the display on my computer screen is a different color from the tablet- the tablet appears more saturated and it really annoys me....
anywho
its really good, ive had mine for like 2-3 years and ive suggested it to others who enjoy it aswell!

It rly is a rly good display tablet, got it like 2 years ago and its been great ever since - a lot of my fav artists use it too.
Only problem is the button on the pen is jammed and its the button i use for undo so sometimes it undoes 2 times and its pretty infuriating.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a laptop that would be good for animation and drawing? Preferably not immensely expensive. I know this isn’t the point of the video but I have zero experience in laptops and have zero idea what would be good :/

Funny enough, I’ve never wanted a cintiq before lmao. I have the Huion HS64 and I hate it. That probably also has something to do with the fact that my computer is absolute dogshit and dies at random intervals lol. I actually wanted a samsung tablet since it’s multi purpose (internet, communication, school work, games, AND ART? Oh boy, sign me up!!) i have to save up for it though. Hopefully I’ll be able to buy it either right before or during college. (Also no, I didn’t miss the point of the video. I absolutely agree with everything said here! I just know that my devices not really working is actually limiting my creative abilities. Mainly because it ruins my motivation to draw)

Spoilers if you thought about buying a display tablet then you are wrong, if you have any mordern tablet with Android and also has headphone jack just get Sonar pen that has pen pressure and its supported in Ibis Paint
