Thanks for making this! Ive played trackmania casually for years and finally feel like Im starting to get SDs more consistant. Muddas video and practice track helped me a bunch but keeping everything 50% overlap on average was costing me.
For holding a certain angle on a controller analog stick, the trick is to hold the stick against either upper or lower side. As an example, when trying to hold something like 50% to the right, it's much easier to hold it still if you're holding it at the edge - like all the way to the upper right corner. In other words, when turning the stick from left to right (when looking for the correct angle), make a half-circle with the stick rather than trying to move it in a straight line from left to right.
The picture is outdated YEP optimal overlaps on flat tarmac ground are 420: 50%, 500: 60%, 600: 67%, 700: 72%, 800: 75%, 900: 78%, 995: 80% On magnet/reactor down/uphill: less overlap cuz more grip downhill: more overlap cuz less grip
What are the optimal angles/overlaps for non-road surfaces? I think I remember that lower grip surfaces should have more overlap, but I don't know the values to pay attention to for those.
I tried it for a few hours now but still couldn't beat the map. The fastest I've been so far is 597. Maybe I need more than 25 hours of total Trackmania gameplay time for this one XD
Yes. There should be a tutorial somewhere, but if you go to the game files and find the folder with the skid mark textures, you can rename one that's already in there to AsphaltMarks or something like that and delete the old AsphaltMarks. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm not at my PC right now.
There is multiple links on google for skid mark manager and the one i downloaded had a trojan virus. Can someone let me know what the legit link is bc there is like 50.
As someone trying to improve at this game on keyboard, speedslides are the most frustrating, inconsistent, illogical, and ridiculous mechanic in this game. I've been playing about 6 months. I would even venture to say that Ice is easier to wrap my head around than doing this nonsense. Every time FS tracks come up in Campaign/ToTD I cringe because I know I'm just going to be a second or more slower than people who understand this crap. God I hate this mechanic.
Idk, playing on ps4 since release. Custom Skid marks kind of are cheating, I mean, they give a big advantage. So does the huge gear number from the speedometer when playing dirt
Not really, you're supposed to focus on your lines not steering at the gear, ontop of that maps are made nowadays with gears planned out if you take the proper line
Your car has 4 wheels that leave skidmarks while drifting. You need to overlap those skidmarks so you only have 2 lines behind you, but in a perfect way, to gain speed while drifting.
It's not true that under 550 speed you want less than 50% overlap. You want 50% overlap already when you can start speedsliding just a bit over 400. Then the optimal overlap just increases.
im great at making skid marks, not so much speed slides or trackmania for that matter though
Lmao
Do note: if you're using the skid marks manager, custom map mods will NOT work, so, it's best practice to first load the map without (especially COTD)
The jump upwards also makes it so that, even if your speedslide is good, your car is too far away from the finish hitbox lol

Me learning how to make a speed slide knowing well I will never even download that game. Just nice to learn and listen to all these TM stories
Thanks for this - I wish the game included this information in the training maps!
I shit my pants and now I can see my skid marks more clearly
tapping is sooo hard with a controller.. overall im better with controller but i hate tapping with my thumb man
yeah ive found just holding 1 angle a lot easier. i guess you could also bind left and right to the dpad and tap like that but thats kinda annoying
many controller fs players prefer to just hold an angle, its very hard to hold the perfect angle though

All the extra add ons or plug-ins is op compared to console version wish there was more for consoles or less for pc

after 1:30 minutes i finally understand wtf he was talking about.... its the skid marks :D
forgot i was watchin WRs on .5% and wondered why wirtual sounded drunk...
Making your skid marks more visible isn't really what you want...
1:00 i got this map in a rmc and it took me like 40 mins to get the finish xD
I'm so sorry
Any way to make skid marks more visible in TM Forever?

"I have a plug in that lets you see your skid marks more clearly"
Where do I uninstall the one in my pants?
How to train your dragon soundtrack in the background
2:15 i found Samifying (GD level creator)
I love my map skill checking u, sadly 500 Speed SD 2.0 didnt get noticed, it has the finish half a block higher xd and left isnt better

Yes I played this map to learn too. Absolutely brutal. Would not reccomend. I did eventually get it. So cooked though.
I made it for myself, wasn't meant to be for literally everyone to play xd I do apologise tho
@@ChaoticTM nah it was a pretty sick challenge. I learned a lot! XD
Not for a beginner though.

You gotta explain this in more beginner friendly terms bro I have no idea what you’re talking about with “overlap”

What's music is on 4 minute
I’m pretty sure it’s something from the how to train your dragon soundtrack but I’m not 100% sure
@@andrewschubert7091 yea i know but what's the name
just back up slightly at the start of more speed
(coming from someone who hasn't seen the whole vid)
As the mapper, you can't, GPS clips into the back of the block behind the player at start so nop

So you cant see the skid marks unless u use a 3rd party program
How's that fair? lmao
