If you are coming across this video but have a Ryzen cpu and want an extremely well made tutorial on how to do this exact thing for your Ryzen HP omen please go check out the youtube channel "dankamyouknow". I am not trying to lose followers or anything but my first priority is making sure people get the help they need with their computer. Even if you do not have the ryzen version he still has excellent tutorials on fan installs and just about anything else to do with the omen as well. I will still be uploading videos and everything i just want to make sure people get the help they need!
Hey I’m just doing this now after a month of getting my Pc and I did everything right but when I try to download the older version of intel xtu the one u showed in the video doesn’t pop up anywhere HELP
@@jxrxmy7999 So here is the link all you have to do is scroll down a bit on the page and you will see version 6.5.2.40 and that will work just fine. www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16919/
You are my new hero sir! This money trap that HP has set up is wrong in so many ways. It would have cost me over $500 to purchase 64 gig of HP memory, but I paid $100 on amazon. You rock!
I can see me doing exactly what Dan did with his PC and that is eventually just moving everything to a new case with a new motherboard, proprietary locked bios should not exist in my opinion we pay for a product and they lock the useful features away from you so they can run the PC basically in safe mode. The parts in these PC’s are capable of so much more. Thank you for your videos they are awesome.
Here is my experience. I have 8*2 stock and bought 8*2 from bestbuy (HX432C16FB3AK2/16). Without doing anything, memory speed at 2400. Followed the steps (very helpful, btw), installed XTU 6.5.2.40, and realized if I am connected to the internet, the XTU software will pull the latest driver, fail. I had to install XTU unplugged, the driver then will be at 6.5.2.40. From there, adjusted memory speed back to 3200. It works fine (I did have one instance that system automatically restarted, and back to 2400). But as soon as I shut the PC down, and turn it back on (overnight, or just a few mins), it goes back to 2400. And there is probably 15-20 seconds of black screen as I turn on the PC before entering the Omen start-up screen, not sure if BOIS is doing something to reset the speed back to 2400. So...looks to me, it will work, 1) never power off your PC, or 2) do it every time.... Any advice?
Some additional info to share. I checked in CPU-Z. It appears, although both modules say it can run at 3200, HP stock's base is at 1600, but retail one is at 2400 (which requires OC at 1.33 to get to 3200). My guess, no expert opinion at all, when mixing these two up, and OC at 1.33 using XTU, it creates problem with HP module. After PC power off, BOIS resets. So my guess, the method will work, if you replace stock module with retail 16*2 or 8*4. I ran benchmark in HZD (1440p, Ultra, i10850K, RTX 3070), only game I am playing now. There is maybe 1-2% improvement (8*2 3200 stock vs 8*4 2400 mix), but there is really not much change (8*4 3200 vs 8*4 2400). It probably validates the higher the resolution is, system pushes the load to GPU vs CPU+Memory, memory speed matters less. I can see possible performance improvement with 8*4 3200 in other applications. Probably the best solution is to buy on eBay for identical HP module.
My Omen Gaming Hub has those options. The RAM settings don't actually change though, even when I select Turbo 3200. If I look at the performance tab in Task Manager, it shows the RAM is still throttled to 2400, no matter what Omen or XTU say.
I got a good deal on an Omen 30L with a 10850k and RTX 3070. Only 16GB of memory though, I consider that the minimum nowadays and want to upgrade to 32GB. I will be trying this when I receive my new PC. I've built PCs in the past and I thought upgrading the RAM in this would be as simple as popping in the new sticks.
Got a computer in Feb 2021 - I have all the XTU items in the device manager - but no intel xtu folder in program files and nothing that mentions xtu in the registry. ODD.
After following everything and getting the Overclocking section to show up in Omen Command.... overclocking my ram does nothing to the speeds according to Task Manager. I've got 64GB of Neo Trident Z and I tried restarting the computer, turning the overclock back to normal, restarting, turning the overclocking back on, restarting again. No dice. I am sads.
Hi there. Thanks man for this video it really helped me out back in January for my Omen 30l. Today I messed up however and hit yes for a BIOS update from BP, so this no longer works. I hope you can find a work around and make a video for the latest bios.
I did the update as well but only because there was a supposed weakness in the last bios version. My ram speeds were just fine and now they are down to 2400hz I'm fucked
Appreciate the easy tutorial! Thanks! I plan on upgrading my brand new intel 10850 16gb to 32gb. My omen hub already shows the "turbo" tab though, is it not suppose to? Did they change it in their latest model maybe? if so, being I already have that tab available do you think I will be able to add the same exact RAM, or still have to use this technique? Thanks again!
Yea I guess they had changed it with their latest update. If you already have the option available you may be able to put them right in. If not you will need to use XTU and set the timings.
In case this helps anyone - I purchased the Omen 30L with the i7 / 16GB / 3070 RTX configuration on May 3rd 2021. My system's OMEN Gaming Hub software already had the Overclocking 3200 MT/s Turbo mode. Also, my system did not have the Intel XTU Extreme Tuning folder, nor the Registry Intel folder. I'm assuming newer OMEN factory builds will have this 'fix' already setup.
I just ordered a newer Omen 25l i5, 8gb 1 stick. So will I be able to upgrade to dual channel mode and keep the native 2666mhz ram speed? Some say it will go down to 2400mhz after adding another stick...
@@johnnyb3544 I added another stick and on my task managers it says it runs at 2400. I’m able to put it in 3200 mode through the omen gaming hub but the task manager says it’s still at 2400. Which speed is the correct one?
Task manager is giving you the correct speed. I really hope HP has fixed this for future Omens. This is one of the biggest complaints on there forums. They have to know people are not happy about it.
no man. i have the same one as you. I bought the (8x4) = 32gb 3200mhz and the omen pc set it at 2100mhz.. HP is making us buy their ram which is robbery. Their 16gb ram cost $300!!!! They need to fix this and allow us to use whatever dam ram we want and let us access our bio to enable XMP.
@@jdwtv6530 I called them today and the guy said in the near future it will fix. Only way we can get the full mhz is if we buy their ram (the hyper x) (he also told me it has to be from HP, such robbery IMO)
Thank you so much for figuring this out. If I add a second of the same HyperX Fury 8gb stick that I buy elsewhere, will it have the same timings as the stick that comes with the Omen?
I was able to follow this tutorial, get the to have the option for 3200 mt/s and the XTU opened up and has the memory section available. however when checking the speed through the task manager performance tab it still shows 2400Mhz. I have the 30L intel I9 10850K with two stock 8 gig ram sticks and 2 fury beast 16 gig sticks. the packaging on the ram i bought says, CL16-20-20 1.35V. I was able to follow the tutorial but need help getting all the sticks to read at 3200. Think you could assist me?
Greetings from Russia, I bought an omen pc with 11900k, 32gb ram, 3200 cl20 memory.. I can't open the timing settings according to your guide. Could you check the relevance?
@2:10 mark you said to remove nzxt cam software. I can't find it on my omen. Can you type out the software I need to remove for this to work? Thanks in advance!
NZXT cam is a free software you can download to monitor your cpu/gpu temperature. If you did not download it, you will not have it. To double check simply go to the search bar bottom left of your desktop screen. Type in NZXT and if the app does not come up you do not have it installed.
I hope this is Helping every one out. If you are having any issues with getting this to work or any questions in general please let me know so we can get it fixed up for you! Thank you every one for the likes and subs I appreciate it a lot!!
After testing, I have successfully made the original two Fury memories and the two newly bought Ballistix 3200MHZ memories run at 3466MHZ at the same time (timing 18-20-20-39). Note that you must manually modify it in the XTU software XMP parameters instead of letting the system automatically read XMP. HP's original memory is poor and has weak overclocking capabilities. However, it should be compatible with all other brand memory modules of C16 above 3200mhz. In addition, try to keep the memory of the same brand on the same channel (for example, 1,2port ballistix 3,4port HyperX)

Im considering doing this on my 25l, it came with 2x 8gb hyperx and my ram speed shows 2933mhz. Can the stock ram be overclocked with this method? Also in my file explorer i dont have an xmp file to delete? Excellent video thankyou!
Yes you will be able to overclock your factory ram as well. Some people did have said they did not have xmp folders. If that's the case just skip that step and move right on to the next.

I was not ablke to install XTU to begin with. not sure whats going on. I put new ram sticks in and it shows 16gb installed but i dont have the ability to see the speed and what not
Ok lets figure this out together. So just to cover bases first lets be sure you do have an intel processor. Could you tell me the exact central processing unit of your computer?
Quick question, so I have recently bought an omen with an intel processor and it comes with 8gb of ram. Can I buy another 8gb and use this method on both of them?
I have a 10700k HP OMEN 30L, came with a 3080, it came with 2 sticks, 8 gb each hyperx ram, 3200mhz. Is there specific HyperX 3200mhz ran I need to get to work with the existing ones, or do I need to buy all new? would like to put 2 more 8 gb sticks in there.
I personally like to keep all of my ram the exact same brand/type. That said as long as the ram is the same speed and timing it should be just fine. I just find there to be less trouble shooting with all the same exact brand ram but technically it should not matter as long as the speed and timing is the same.
it doesnt show me the advanced settings and i got a omen 30 l and i bought 2 ddr4 ram and there both 3200 and i cant change the bios settings am still running 2133 can you help
I followed all steps in this video, the XTU version is still 6.5.2.40 but there isn't a memory tuning option and the OMEN gaming hub doesn't show the memory in overclocking. Maybe my computer cannot handle a memory overclocking. I have the laptop Omen 15 from 2020.
@@krikol_77 Yea unfortunately that is not an unlocked CPU so it will not allow you to do this process. This only works for the K model CPUs. I'm sorry man.
ETA for my 30L is 3/29. It has the Core™ i9-10850K processor. Is that a problem? I’ll be adding Crucial 32GB Ballistix DDR4 3200 MHz UDIMM. Is that a problem?
I can’t seem to figure this out. I have no intel folder in my programs folder and non in my register. I tried going through the steps but couldn’t change the speed at the end. Can anyone help me plz
I have been trying to find a definitive answer for you but everything i see is rather not very clear. I am under the impression 3200 will be the max you will be able to get out of this computer unfortunately. I could be wrong but I am like 80% sure 3200 will be the best you can get. I am sorry I wish I could have given you a more reassuring answer on that.
So I have an omen that’s old enough that the omen control center doesn’t work with it. Can I still do this just using the intel overclocking app? I have an i7 7700.
This didn't work for me but I noticed in the Intel XTU software that the default speed of the ram is what the turbo speed was in the Omen Gaming Hub. So, is it even necessary to roll everything back just to get the feature in the Hub?
Also, went into HP Support Assistant --> Software & Drivers, and there is an OMEN Gaming Hub SPK download. This added the memory feature back to the Gaming Hub
thank you for figuring this out i bought the recommend crucial ram and it went to the default 2666mhz i will give this a try Do you know if this will work on a laptop
Will this work with the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i. It has the same issue with installing aftermarket ram and doesn't allow you access to your xmp profiles

@JDWTV, thanks this video worked like a charm. I had to run through your procedure twice to get to the proper version of Intel XTU, but I made it. Question for you. Have you done any testing tightening timings on the Stock Hyper X Ram that came with the 30L to decrease RAM Latency? The stock JDEC timing @ 3200mHZ is 22-22-22-52 (Which is what is assigned when using "Turbo" In the Overclock Memory Tab of Omen Command Center). In CPU-Z there is a 18-21-21-39 @1.35V 3200 Mhz profile. It does not appear as a preset XMP profile in the memory tab of Intel XTU. I added it by hand in the custom tab and it appears to run stable with a marked decrease in latency on memory benchmarks. Though I am tempted to push it further, perhaps 16-20-20-39 or 16-18-18-37. What are your thoughts / experiences? Can it be done with the stock ram? Edit: went down to 17-20-20-39 with the stock 2x16gb hyper x HP serial locked RAM in Intel XTU benching 56-58ns 256 latency in userbenchmark @ 3200mhz (which is sub-par but better than the 70ns it is stock). I think they can go lower but I haven’t tested it. I do believe this makes a difference in gaming performance especially low-mid resolution (1080p 1440p) albeit small. Edit2: made it to 16-18-18-37 @1.35V 3200Mhz on stock hyperx ram (originally 22-22-22-52) Very Happy with memory timing improvements, we’re within respectably fast timing given the hardware. In short, you don’t have to replace the ram, just adjust the timings.
I have not attempted that myself yet but now I want to lol. If it is running stable that is awesome and good to hear. ill start playing with it this week and see what I can come up with. Ill let you know what i can come up with on it!

Some people have said it took them a few times to get all of the new drivers off the system. That 800mhz is way to slow we gotta fix that for you for sure. Have you downloaded any other software on your PC such as NZXTcam to monitor temps? for some reason that software will not allow you to remove all of the XTU drivers off your computer. If you miss a single driver or any of the folders in the registry it will keep your drivers at the newer versions. What CPU exactly do you have in your PC?
@@mayhemi I would try uninstalling the core temps software and then try the whole process of removing drivers again. I am not going to say 100% this is the issue but it is very likely the core temp program is doing just like NZXTcam software does and not allowing you to fully remove the drivers. so uninstall the core temps restart PC then follow the guide once again and see if that works. IF IF that works for you then you can re install the core temps software with no issue. Let me know if that solves the issue if not we will try something else for you. You definitely want to have control of your memory speed if you already spent that money.
@@mayhemi Awesome!!! ok to set the timing, your ram should have stickers on them telling you their specific timings to set. Yes this will work on any intel based Omen. and yes they are the XTU drivers you want to remove to get them back to 6.5.2.38. version instead of the latest version of 7.0.1.4. I hope that answered your question.
If you do not currently have access to your memory profile then yes it will. This will allow you to set your own timing on your RAM so you can achieve the desired speed. The timings are usually found on the side of the RAM itself.
@@mr_ksogaming8665 Ok so first thing I would do is just go into XTU and open the memory tab. look and see if there is an xmp profile already available for your new ram sticks. If so simply click and apply. If not you will need to know the specific timing of your ram and adjust the timing manually in xtu. if that doesn't work I would next enable real time memory and manually adjust the timings once again. The timing is usually on the side of your new ram stick on a sticker. if not look in the box/all paperwork.

Thank you for your videos they are awesome.
did dan make a video on switching motherboards?
Could you make a 2024 guide because this one is outdated
Awesome work dude. I already bought the upgrade to 32gb but glad to see there's a workaround.
Thank you!
OMG!!! it works. thank you so much! now I can continue this mission to make this 30L a beast!

I got a good deal on an Omen 30L with a 10850k and RTX 3070. Only 16GB of memory though, I consider that the minimum nowadays and want to upgrade to 32GB.
I don’t see the intel folder or the part after that doesn’t show up
In case this helps anyone - I purchased the Omen 30L with the i7 / 16GB / 3070 RTX configuration on May 3rd 2021.

Task manager is giving you the correct speed. I really hope HP has fixed this for future Omens. This is one of the biggest complaints on there forums. They have to know people are not happy about it.

Quick question, so I have recently bought an omen with an intel processor and it comes with 8gb of ram. Can I buy another 8gb and use this method on both of them?
Yes absolutely

I personally like to keep all of my ram the exact same brand/type. That said as long as the ram is the same speed and timing it should be just fine. I just find there to be less trouble shooting with all the same exact brand ram but technically it should not matter as long as the speed and timing is the same.

I would try going straight to downloading the 6.2.5.40 XTU version since you have deleted the other xtu files already. See if that works. let me know if not we can move on to other trouble shooting.
@@jdwtv6530 After deleting all XTU files, I downloaded 6.2.5.40 XTU version, installed it, but I have no memory tab at all in the XTU program, nor overcloking in omen game hub. But after installing XTU, a folder appeared in my registry. Unfortunately I still have no folder in program files. So I started all over again, but still nothing :/ I'm glad that at least others got around the stupid hp approach.
@@bartosztborowiecki That is so odd you don't have an overclocking tab in gaming hub. that should be standard on every omen. What CPU do you have?
@@bartosztborowiecki I would try deleting omen gaming hub off your computer and re installing it. Here is the link to re download gaming hub.

Can’t find the link for website can anyone help pls
Need help not coming up on my gaming hub.
When I open my hub I already have the tab that you show at the start, it just came built that way. Am I safe to just click it
Anyone?
Does this work on the OMEN 25L??? I have a Intel I7 - 10700 CPU
if it has a K model CPU yes it does
@jdwtv6530 I have an omen pc 30l had 16gb and I upgraded to 32gb and speed when down to 2133 mhz
After bios upgrade any other way to speed up to 3600 mhz?
That's what i bought.
Thanks in advance
A little late to the party but.....Is this legit? I'm about to do this to my Omen 30l. I'm absolutely sick of the endless MOBO beeps. I know for a fact this PC was running 3200 Mhz before I tore it down to clean physically and fresh installed windows.
I cant fine a link from a techspot and other ones i download, automatically updates to the latest version of intel xtu. Need help pls
Go to this link and then scroll down a bit and you will see older versions. 6.5.2.40 will work just fine.

@@jdwtv6530 thank You very much! I bought this computer because of lack of gpus atm, got it at very fair price, but i wanted 32gb rams instead of 16gb, ordered them straight away and got into this kinda bs. I hope i can manage to fix it with the link You sent it, already in the bed, 1:00 am and been sitting next to those rams for past 3-4h. Enough for today 🙈 let’s hope i can manage it ;) 🙏😇
@@jdwtv6530 thank You so much, i have done it already!! Awesome!! And tbh, f hp omen engineers 👊

@@mindaugasgailiusis4142 Awesome man! glad you got it going.
Can this work for the 25l ?
I am looking at doing this on my omen 17 inch laptop. Just bought a 64 gb ram kit. Have you come into an issues with other programs after doing this process?
Were you able to overlook the ram in your laptop? Is it a thing?
@@FerociousFerrets No. It just fixed itself at some point. I almost capped it a few times.
so will doing this allow me to use any ram stick and not use the one that HP says i have to?
i removed all the xtu devices but i dont have an intel folder in my programs. what did i do wrong?
How long did it take to come?
I was lucky enough to pick this up at my local microcenter.
Brought omen 30L 2 days ago. Mine already come with the Over clocking ram in omen centre. Is that a new feature? Also brought some hyper x rgb to go up to 32gb will it work saying this was already in my pc?
Yea new feature
As soon as I press u install driver for software components it auto restarts my pc straight away
I also have no software in caps on user on reg edit n no intel just my full cpu name with no Xtu underneath
Hello i cant get this to work on 11th gen(11700k) cpu of the omen 30l does someone know how to get it to work
I did everything what you said here. But still after installing older version and restart. It says its 7.3.0.33 versio. Anyway I got already my new ram showing at Omen Hub after starting my pc at first time. But the ram speed dropped by 800mhz. any fix for that? :D
I mean the ram speed is now at 2400mhz but supposed to be 3200mhz. I have i7-10700K. And I have ”Core temps” program to monitor my temps.
@@jdwtv6530 Yea it worked. I got that older version now installed. Now I just need to figure out how to set correct memory speed :D
@@mayhemi Awesome!!! ok to set the timing, your ram should have stickers on them telling you their specific timings to set. If you are lucky as soon as you open XTU it will have an xmp profile there for you to apply. that would be the easiest. Let me know if you run into trouble setting timing and ill do my best to walk you through it.
Does this still work with Bios version F22? I've tried setting the XMP profile in the bios (F22 now supports XMP) with Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 1.35V and TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 3200MHz (PC4-25600) CL16 Ram. The Corsair would only run at 2133MHz and the Teamgroup would only run at 2400MHz without crashing the system when the XMP profile was set in the bios.
Ive the same ram, everytime I change the ram to something else than 2133mhz it beeps, doesnt start, does start, starts with a black screen just this and that.
Oh and yea it didnt work. Shen i rebooted, the little shits I deleted had the newest version somehow, even though I wasnt connected to the inet.
I even restarted the PC. Im at thw end of the row. Buying a brand new pc. Never ever ever ever again omen.
Im gona spread to everyone I can for thenrest of my life about hp omen
That magic little tab isnt accurate right? Becuase mine is at 3200 but when i go to task manager its sitting at 2100. I got the vengeance pro 32gb (4x8 ones)
Wondering as well…
Same problem here - it's showing 3200 but in Task Manager and Intel XTU I see 2400. I installed additional HyperX Fury sticks which support up to 3600
@@ricos6762 yeah so technically you are running at 2400. Those fury hyper x need to be from intel. watch my two videos and it explains it better. Im running with the ballistix 3200mhz at 2666mhz because HP doesn't allow us to overclock.
@@kaysup2350 now the funny thing: i have 2x16 orig ram and 2x16 additional 3600 ram. If i run them in 3200 in omen then they run in 2400.. if i overclock them to 3466 they all run in this mode (i see that in the task mgr and intel xtu)
@@ricos6762 do you have amd cpu or intel?
interesting guys, has anybody tried this with a omen 30L I7-10th gen? Also JDWTV , is it possible to show about the app in the first part ?? the specific name. My omen 30 L show it has xtu drivers and i want to just double check before i try adding 2 x 8 GB to make 32gb ram .. appreciate your help
Yes this will work on any intel based Omen. and yes they are the XTU drivers you want to remove to get them back to 6.5.2.38. version instead of the latest version of 7.0.1.4. I hope that answered your question.
I added 32GB to my setup however my RAM is capped at 2400mh. It was 3200mh before. Will doing this help address this or no?
If you do not currently have access to your memory profile then yes it will. This will allow you to set your own timing on your RAM so you can achieve the desired speed. The timings are usually found on the side of the RAM itself.
When you change it on the omen app does the speed change on the task manager ?
When you do it in xtu and omen app yes it shows in task manager.
@@jdwtv6530 thanks I don’t seem to get that
so what settings would I have to put in XTU a hyper x ram 16gb 3200hz DDR4 id really appreciate some help!
@@jdwtv6530 no xmp profile.
So I would have to do it manually .
I’m gonna look at it and send the info
@@mr_ksogaming8665 Dang. It is always nice when the profile is already there lol.
