      @@ParkerTheBasshead how does it peak at 20hz? Isn’t that well below box tune? Also the cabin is so small that it can’t simply peak that low. To peak at 20hz your box tune would need to be 15hz or something silly.

    I like to use a combo of screws and nails. As a framer you learn that screws have pull out strength but no sheer strength. Especially the black sheetrock screws will sheer. You probably can check those screws and see some are sheered. Try a stronger deck screw. And use wood glue not liquid nails. Glue cures faster

    It’s why I love tubes and not common square enclosures.
    Tubes are relatively light, modular and unbreakable!
    I’m a biased tube guy.
    If making a common square box, you have to brace the hell out of it which is necessary, make a thick baffle etc and can weigh dozens of pounds because of it.

    One thing I've kinda figured out on my own people, which you won't see in many TH-cam videos. If you want good loud, clean, bass; never turn up the "bass boost" or "bass" knob on the amplifier. Only use the gain. Some amps may not even have this knob but if it does don't use it. It just distorts your bass and causes the amp to clip easier.

    Bro you built a box with no internal bracing? Lol.. always brace and us ample anoints of wood glue making sure to fully coat both sides of the joint. Wood glue holds way stronger then screws and nails when dry. Screw are just to hold it together till the glue drys and it’s important to coat both pieces not just one so you get good saturation of both pieces.. you’re bonding the pieces not adhering them.

    Unfortunately, that box is no good anymore, it broke the glue seal it will never seal again, at that level of SPL you need a good bond, liquid nails pro if the cuts are not 100% smooth and either 2" brad nails or screws every 3".
    Another tip: round up the edges on the subwoofers mounting holes for inverted subs, the sharp edges will tear up the surrounds over time if they are not 100% centered.
    Otherwise "Keep bassing on"

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be fixed. You just move the glue seal further away from the edge and add a new strip of wood along the seam. Fresh wood, fresh glue seam, its all good.

  • @loopinator1
    @loopinator1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Love the build. And it came together super quick. One tip I wanted to give is I use 5/16 t-nuts and Allen head bolts for holding my heavy subs in place. The t-nuts have a much larger footprint inside the box than any screw or bolt could as well as a much better clamping force due to it using actual metal on metal threads and you can uninstall and reinstall the subs without ever worrying about wearing out the holes. I have even used a small bit of medium strength thread locker on them to keep the bolts from coming loose with vibration.
    Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the completed project.

    The low lows breaks stuff for sure! Use tight bond 2 wood glue, it's extremely strong. Tip... When building a box, blow out your cuts with compressed air, them wipe with a wet rag JUST BEFORE laying the glue joints. The water will act as a thinner, and the glue will flow into the wood deeper, making a much stronger glue joint. You'll break the wood before the glue let's go. Then brace it up as well, and you have a bullet proof box. Less flex and movement on the enclosure allows the energy to be made into sound, and not flexing wood. I bet you gained a bit after redoing it all.
    I know there's a 50+ in that setup down low. I was doing 48.6 in the same truck with and single 18, peaking at 24, tuned to 25 on about 3300 clamped watts.
    Move the port away from the door a bit, retest. There's a good gain to be had getting the box position right. You may lose too, try and test. And again, and again and again. There's a 50 for sure I'm there, you just need to play with it a bit.
    Close dash vents, and lower the visors strait down. Try opening the glove box, and adjust window positions. Likely best with the front windows down, or just the driver's side down. Every vehicle is different, but that worked in my 4dr 03' 7.3 superduty. Yours is a bit smaller being extended cab, so results will vary surely..

    What I’ve done when dealing with very powerful subs is to set my saw to 45 degrees and rip a long angle off the end of one of my scrap pieces of wood, then set it back to 90 and rip another. Take and glue those into all of the interior edges of your box to beef up the edges and corners to prevent exactly this issue. On lower powered boxes you can run a bead of glue to caulk the inside edges.
    Also, you can trade off some reduced net volume without much strength loss by swapping to 3/4” dowel rod for your internal bracing instead of 2x4.

    If u put the subs back inside the box vs inverted.
    Would that not help u get some of your higher frequency response back?
    Less air space moves the tuning freq up a little correct?

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah correct! Also braking in the subs seemed to help a little as well

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference in airspace from sub displacement in a box this large is marginal at best. I would not expect any difference in tuning if they were mounted with the magnets in the box.

    I have always been a big bass head , ever since I was younger. I'm using a 4500 watt amp to push a single 15 inch subwoofer. Wish I had more money to buy a better 15 inch sub. The one I got now a Rockville Destroyer, and deaf bounce Apocalypse amp. Definitely want to upgrade.

    Use 13ply Baltic birch from a local cabinet shop or plywood distributor or Radiata pine from home depot is fine as long as you don't plan to stain it.
    Real birch plywood is $180 per sheet and weighs about 100lbs but if staining, there is no better option. Thick veneer hard to burn through when sanding, and holds screws like a champ. No voids on edges so glue has plenty to adhere to.
    Birch from home depot has a weightless composite core that doesn't hold screws and the edges are full of voids that doesn't give glue much to adhere to and the veneer is super thin very easy to burn through when sanding....oh and your box will flex its assoff.

    hat would u guys recommend....im currently building a 3 cube down firing center console. WilI have 2 to 3 inches between floor and woofer. I have 2 12in Gothics and 2 rzr2500 amps, I also have 2 12in jbl 1000 subs. 250rms each but great quality sound. May use those later for under seat biuld. Truck is a 4 door quad cab dodge PowerWagon.
    I'm still debating between either
    1. Single gothic 12. Downfiring, ported to 30hz with port facing rear of cab. I'd then use the 2 rzr2500 amps. 1 amp per voice coil witch would be 900rms watts at 4 ohms!
    Or do
    2. Use both Gothic 12s downfiring, then keep enclosure sealed and use one amp per subwoofer. Would then be 650rms watts at 2 ohms each subwoofer.
    I love anything rebassed, 28-35hz. Deep bass u can feel. If I do the single set up..... I can look for 2 more rzr2500 amps and do another enclosure behind this one. Except second enclosure would be sub firing to rear with port facing up. If you guys have any other thoughts or tips. I would sure appreciate them. Thanks

    When I build a box, I put 45s on every edge, not just the sides. I also Glue and screw everything and I cut the edge 45s in my braces, to make sure everything is flush. I ran 3 SQ HDS3.1 10s on a Nendo BC5500 and they blew the box apart. I thought I dropped my subs. I ordered re-cone kits only to find out the box had come apart. After 45s and braces, I never had it happen again. Live and learn.

    Bangerrr bruh! You needa upgrade your mounting game to Threaded Inserts and Allen key Machine Screws. I could never go back. Being able to mount and unmount, over and over, and not deal with destroyed baffles, weakened mounting points, ect. Is so nice. Plus the Black Allen Head Bolts look super dope with the raised head. Keep slayin’ bruh.

    Quick dvc trick, no meter, no scope. Run one coil from each sub per amp to match the gains and make sure they're in phase with each other. Turn it way down reverse polarity on one sub and set the gain where there's little to no movement. Unless your sending the amps binaural signals 3hz offset, it ensures the subs are getting identical power. Can you compare these with the Dead Game Audio Huracan/v3?

  • @PK_EP
    @PK_EP ปีที่แล้ว

    The Fs on these subs is 40hz and you put them in a box tuned to 25hz. Wrong application for the subs bro, they wont play optimally or efficiently in that enclosure. Dont be surprised if they get damaged.

    I have a question? I use a stetsom 3k no bass knob. Playing bassboosted tracks on amps that already have the capability to out power @it's rms Would you have to keep adjusting your tuning to avoid clipping/distortion/voltage etc. Or does the use of a bass knob takes care of all of that.

    Pour in some epoxy tableboat resin about 1/8 inch deep and it will seal the inside and harden stronger than plastic.

    Subscribed. One time we went through everything on my friends truck because he was losing SPL. Turns out his truck was actually split down the unibody and he lost all pressure. We tore that thing apart trying to figure out why it sounded so bad.
