I'm 41 with a 15" sundown V2 in my truck, a soundqueb 18" in the shed I need to build a box for and a 15" deafbounce in my honda. My daughter is 20 and has a car seat in her back seat so who's winning now!!!!! Haha guys it's fine, atleast our kids are grown

Sundown overprice
Do another test on the Amazon sub, and take it 250 to 300 watts over RMS like you did with the sundown and see what the outcome is . Just curious to see if it could handle the same RMS overage like was done to the sundown. Good videos my friend!

He didn't cause the subs where basically the same and i would also think that a brand that usually rates subs for 2krms and they work fine at over 3k would be able to handle a bit more
Yeah, I don't believe all Sundown subs are made to handle over RMS, they do that for their higher level subs only.
@@kamilrybicki8490 how are they basically the same when one is rated 300 RMS more than the other? Low end sundown subs are not like the higher end sundown subs that can handle over double the RMS. I still would like to see the Amazon sub run through the same test over 250,300 RMS.

For the price point, I've always felt Sundown is overrated. If I was gonna "waste" money on expensive car audio, it would be on JL Audio.

Sundown and JL are not comparable. One brand is dedicated to spl and the other sq.
@@groundshakersociety6637 yes they are. the Sundown Audio E15 v.4 has the same wattage as my jl 18 w6. the Sundown Audio E15 v.4 shown in this video has a reinforced paper cone...........paper cones are used for sound quality. the Sundown Audio E15 v.4 blowing at 800 watts of power is not spl hahahahahaha. can't fix ignorant people. jl audio is daily driver and sound quality.

I would love for you to test out some Savard subs! They have 3 different lines of subwoofers. The Rap, HiQ, and the newest SPL focused one(I can’t remember the name). I’ve owned the HiQ line and have been VERY impressed with it.

Possibly, you are used to dealing with teenagers, which is no crime, but you assume that I have a dog in this race, so to speak. I personally have very expensive gear that I really enjoy and budget gear that I really enjoy as well. I have absolutely no brand loyalty, as I have found over many years that most brands can have good gear and bad gear. A bit of advice to you. Don't assume that people who you are encountering today are the same in their thoughts and perspectives as people who you have previously encountered. This might lead to an incorrect view of that individual. Good luck, and enjoy whatever gear you have.
The ZVX line of Skar isn't even close to the Nightshade. Remember guys, you get what you pay for. Not knocking Skar. I've owned 4 15" EVLs and 2 ZVX 18"s (or whichever was their "top of the line") For the price it's a banger (see what I did there?). I'll still take the Nightshade even though it's 3x the price. Skars customer service BLOWS.

More so with people my age and older im 35 but we got to see a crazy change from no cell phones and desk top comps and actually played outside intill you couldnt see. But for people older i always go in with a clean slate no matter age sex or race. From the moment people meet you can usually tell how a peoson is within the first few min. But im always nice and polite to everyone and it stays that way intill you give me a reason not to be. I dlmyself have been through so much and you never know what someone esle is or has experienced.

You pay a little more for the sundown for a reason like if you blew the sub you can call them up and get a replacement recone or get the sub replaced if it's a defective sub definitely not going to get that with the Amazon sub
If you're cooking coils, that is on you, and that's user error. Nobody will warranty that issue.
Amazon offers protection plans for like 10-12 bucks for 2 years if you blow it you get your money back 🤷

Comparing price point doesn't really make sense when you really think about it, rated power always should be considered.. In fact, it might have made the generic Amazon sub look even better if it could have kept up or even beat the SA series.

When sundown first stard out, there prices were extremely cheap you could get a sa 12" for 160. As they become more popular, the prices have also going up

sometimes those cheaper subs can take alot of power and be very hard to blow, but the sundown's can sometimes be junk or sometimes be really good subs it just depends on witch one you get. I think skar have the best budget subs. Also great video
I realy like ct sounds there subs are cheap like u can get a 12" 1300w rms sub for only 160-180 usd and so are there amps u can get a 1.5k rms amp for like 180usd. I like amp cause when the voltage drops the power doesnt that much it basically stays the same

I am actually really surprised how well the SKAR SVR 12INCH Subwoofer performs. That is a $130-$150 sub that's rated 800-watt rms. And I most definitely give it at least that. It is powered with a 1500-watt rms mono amp.
I used to buy Rockford Fosgate products. They are still really great and all. For sure, the win goes to SKAR if you're looking at bang for the buck in my book!!
I have two kicker CompC 10s and was thinking about swapping them out for the SVR 10s. Is the SVR line any good?
@gelatoconnoisseur5389 I believe that they are great for the value. But keeping in mind what Parker does is something the average bass head doesn't do. This means overpowering the subs for the views.
If you keep the power level within its recommended specs, then perfect 👌 👍 even for a 10 inch. I have mine in a 2008 acura mdx.
@@danelhouseofel7634 the amp I have now is the Rockville Db14 with 1000 rms and 3000w peek. So technically I think I would be under powering them being that the SVR 10s push 800 rms each which would be 1600 in total. Do you think that would be a problem?

On the ma15 test at 35hrz, the metre reads 142.4, yet he said 140.4?
The reason it died is during the 45 and 40hz burp it was bottoming out and damaged the coil .
He need to run that back.

best reason for me to go with sundown is that they keep drop-in recone kits available. just makes the whole process of "yup, I knew that was stupid" easier.
after I murdered my sundown ev3's I reconed one and put it in my yukon. still need to fix the other one.
I'm currently abusing some dayton max-x 12's in a impala. I grabbed them for just under $130 shipped each a while back leveraging a sale and a coupon on parts express.

I got the stu 1546 for a similar reason and am running mine on a jp23 1.5 and it is giving it all the power it wants? Sub calls for a 3.53 box and I am running 3.85 so that could have something to do with it idk.
Yeah sounds like somethings off ...my jp23v1.5 has more power than my American bass xr 12 even wants try and handle .......I don't think you need more power or a larger amp ...may be a electrical issue ....but to each his own if you want a larger amp ....I say go for it but just make sure you have the electrical upgrades to make it work ....or you probably won't see any gains in power out put

Parker. You really should roll into the burp much slower, this will allow a more accurate score plus avoid over excursion &/or bottoming out so aggressively, hence the more accurate score. Another thing to take into account is that if you get too much distortion or bottom the sub out when using those SPL Labs meters they will usually read inaccurate & you will find that the measured HZ is wrong which is an easy way to see if the meter measured correctly.
To verify the TS claims of the subwoofers, you could purchase a DATS, would be fun to see how far the subwoofers are from reality

@bailey2517 seems the cheaper sub was appropriately rated rms of 800. I have ran an E 12 before on 900 watts and it never let go. Of course music and torture testing is different. lol

If you want power and abuse. Get flat wound aluminum wound voice coils. PSI subs are way better than SunDown will ever be ( unless you get the nightshade Neo mag. )

The e series is bottom of the line Budget from sundown but i get the reasoning for the comparison cause its both similar price points but being a advid sundown person ill tell you if you don't have them in good enclosure they won't last long at all cause the design in their efficiency is also a flaw in some cases in example they hate being free aired and hate being in out of spec boxes or the won't get the right cooling Dave Leib the builder at sundown would know more than me about it but generally speaking if your aren't using a 100% perfect application for them youre most likely to see failure

Hello Parker. Ive been wanting to see a video comparison that nobody else seems to have done. Would you consider doing a comparison between two 12's in a sealed box on 1000 watts vrs one 12 in a ported box on 500 watts rms? Same subs for both enclosures. Im curious as to how much of a difference there will be in output. The ported is more efficient but the sealed has twice the cone area and power. I cant find anyone thats done a video like that.

Yo Parker big fan I have JL Audio JX 1000.1D. I had this little guy with 1300 RMS 2609 orion old school, it blew it. Then 2X AMERICAN BASS 15s blew those any way to see the limit of this Amp. Not a JL Audio fan but when I got this amp it was affordable. Had the amp for Six years now doing a new set up. 2008 Impala LT.
If the E was around the price of the Wlldse I'd say get either both good but $220 for that cheap ass sub that's crazy, in the $200 area you get almost every brand the typical 3" coil ,200oz motored cast frame banger and subs that handle 1200 to 1500wrms, not 500 to 800wrms 2.5" coiled little motored steel framed entry level subs. You know how much Jacob has invested in that thing? Around $20 to $30...your buying that logo on the dust cap, He's so overcharging for a cheap entry level sub, at $220 hes poking it right to people and laughing all the way to the bank saying I didn't think I could charge that much...I was wrong lol. Why Wlldse replaced the HCY with this one is beyond me. The HCY is a banger budget sub and it takes a ton of abuse, I paid $122 for one $142 for the other. The only complaint about the HCY 13 is the FS was high, DATS v3 tested 43htz out of the box and 38htz broke in, they were super punchy great for metal kick drum pounded my chest but didn't hit low lows with much authority I listen to everything so I epoxied a ring of large plumbing solder around the original dust cap 70G If I remember right and installed a new 7" cap and now the FS is 30htz and they hit lower a lot better. It must be an availability issue or materials went up significantly for them to replace the HCY with a lower wattage sub. So much for killer value....
Since you are back to testing in the Sequoia; I wouldn't mind seeing some db tests of subs you tested in your truck. If you still have some those subs laying around. Cabin gain test for different vehicles basically. Good video to see what those subs can handle
I have the hcy12 by wllsed ,which has all but disappeared from Amazon. I'm guessing because of sundown patents? But what everyone seems to forget is sundown is a rip-off if Hollywood sound labs. The basket is the dragon claw frame from Hollywood. The brand is tied up in litigation. Mean time their technology gets robbed. Hence the dragon claw frame used on sundown u series. Chpw Hollywood digital Germany will reveal this just by looking at their frames...but the patents and original Hollywood excursion subwoofers that used that dragon claw frame was in 2003. 20 years ahead of it's time. Hollywood. Old school trivia you can research on and see fir yourself .

You played different frequencies for the subs on free air. Went lower on the cheap Amazon sub buddy. Parker has been bought and payed. About 2 years ago. Time to find a new honest person Parker has been compromised.

I have 4 evls in my truck and bought the 3500 max wlldse sub at 8k watts ill smoke the skars befor that thang even cares. Once they all blow ill be sticking with them.
For subs, cheaper is better. You're not expecting to get studio quality sound out of a sub driver. Low frequencies sound the same.

To an extent, yes. Most amps from that time period still work great as seen in several amp dyno tests that Big D does on his TH-cam channel. HOWEVER, power output of amps from that time frame are typically lower than amps today, plus amps today are cheaper per watt. Subwoofers from the 90’s are not as good as subwoofers from today. The older subs have lower power handling, less X max, lower Bl, and in general do not get as loud and can’t handle as much power. Audio equipment designed in the US is typically better than the audio equipment designed in China, regardless of where each was built.
@@91CavGT5it’s mostly just very different design philosophies. As you mentioned, power was very difficult to generate at the time making it so that subwoofers should be more sensitive which meant lower power handling parts with lower xmax and lower MMS. It’s all about knowing your use case.
@@91CavGT5 the average person can't handle 1200 watts of real power on their stock setups. most people just stick a 1200 rms sub and 2400 watt amp in there car, van or trucks and never upgrade the door speakers and run them on the stock alt and stock battery. spl guys always upgrade everything and most the amps for the 90s are meant for daily driver not spl. if your going for sq and daily driver, a 1000 watt amp and a 600 rms sub in a tuned box....not prefab junk are just fine. we all have are own preferences to home and car audio. my sansui sf-2 speakers inside my house are soooo clean and crisp compared to the polk audio tower and bookshelf speakers i had last year. audio made in the usa, germany, japan and korea are 10x better than any of that china junk.

I'll do the cast basket whenever possible. I feel, as a broke arse, sundown is a horrible bang 4 buck. If i was rich, sure, I'd buy the top of the line premium brand. But most importantly, 2 of these analzon subs will cost a little more than the sundowner but they will pound a whole lot harder

Only sundown i have owned is SA15,U15, X15 , X18, Z18 and they have take so much abuse.
I would not go the cheap subs on sundown, then its better to find a other brand and tryout.
Now im thinking on a X10, with aeroport 30hz boxtuning for daily. 40-50hz when SPL testing it.

Do you think the sundown subwoofer 15 inch is better than a kicker VX 15
I've seen that sub go over 5 minutes at 1000 watts so idk what happened andcim not a sundown user.
Redo the NVC VCW sub now that you have proper power, last tiem you tyested it you only had 3k and the sub was wired to 2 ohms
