    These light boxes are really great! I’m showing these to my wife for a Christmas idea for me - hint at a laser being my Christmas gift!!
    An interesting thing a low power laser can do is mark metal with a material applied called Cermark. About 15-20 years ago at work we needed something to mark stainless steel casings for radioactive sources used in our PET medical imaging equipment. I discovered the cermark material allowed use of our low powered laser to essentially label the stainless steel casing. I thought I’d mention it if that application may be of use one day.
    As always - I really enjoy your video content!

    Enjoyed the review. I am 71 year old fairly new woodworker. I am using my woodworking to make projects for my grandchildren. I would love to have this tool to "brand" my projects so the grandchildren can look back years down the road and be reminded who made it for them. Thanks for the opportunity.

    I'm really blown away by how detailed the laser can cut! Especially in wood, where it is essentially burning away the cut areas. I assume that these types of machines can also be used on metal and other surfaces?

    • @HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
      @HoneyBadgerWoodWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only engraved my logo on aluminum flashing and it worked well. The big thing is to make sure to prepare the metal properly so the laser beam doesn't reflect back into the module and ruin it.

I’ve watched a million and one (ok, not that many) videos about the XTool and other laser engravers. The reason I am leaning towards the XTool is some of the peripheral accessories like the RA2 Pro which is very impressive. These cut/engrave logos very well. You might start getting limited by dimensions on bigger pieces, but for most flat work it works without have to rig up any special setup. Having used a branding iron for multiple commercial pieces I can see why people are making the change.

      Each laser has a different working area. So looking at the frame is not a great way to figure out how big the bed will be. So, yes you lose area around all the edges and for some you lose area based on where the motors, belts, and pulleys are located.
