Windows 10 is such a pain, I want to manually install drivers through device manager but it won't allow it, it keeps saying your drivers are already the best, which is not the case
Always enjoy your advice, your recommendations invariably uplifting the capabilities of those like myself who otherwise would struggle. The Archer installer being of particular interest, I'm all ears as to your insights as to how best to manage this delightful accessory.
I'm like a kid in a candy store at Microcenter. :) The one in Overland Park, Kansas is always great to go to. They are very helpful even when I get quite technical. Recently I had to exchange a bad power supply. No issues with their in-house parts when it comes to exchanges. :)
Mr. Titus, thank you in reviewing Snappy Driver. I recently restored an old Asus Transformer and was missing some key drivers. Snappy Driver resolved the missing culprits and I was able to trace an unknown driver by it's hardware number to finish off the renegades in device manager. I wish I could like this video more than once.
thank you snappy was a lifesaver, I reinstalled win 10 on my acer aspire switch, it was missing all the drivers to make everything run and work correctly. i would kiss you right now! you saved me so much headaches!!!!!
I remember you were quite impressed by the automatic windows 11 driver install done by Microsoft on a fresh installation. Thx for the update on your thoughts going forward, and this quality vid: There are an awful lot of very bad quality vids on Windows Drivers. They lack the practical detail and experience that you share.
I like the maker stuff at Microcenter. I was able to get a raspberry pi 4 at a great price when they were sold out on Amazon. (Commenting for the algorithm and your sponsor)
That is so funny I went to a Micro Center shop today and watched this video for the first time. Its a pretty cool place, with basically every PC component you need, and other accessories like mouses, headphones, console things, etc.
THANK YOU!!!!! I've been assembling a pc for my dad, using my older spare parts due to his not needing a ripper of a 'pooter. So this will hopefully make my life 100% better, thank you again!
Wanted a tool to try an automatize my driver updates. Tried it, bricked my PC, recovery didn't work so I did a fresh install, tried the tool again (I was suspicious that the first time around was due to something else since I had just had a blue screen), bricked the system yet again, currently doing the second fresh install... Chris, we love you, but this thing shouldn't be recommended! Half the people in the comments either mention how Malwarebytes flagged it, and the other half (including me) had a bad experience with it.
I love snappy driver installer, i use this alot with my clients when i fix pcs, One of the best tools out there and keeps local copies of the drivers for the tool (if you choose to download them)
0:56 - Micro Center truly is heaven and I'm glad they appear to be growing as far as getting the word out through many different tech TH-camrs, but it would be nice if there were more locations or if they had more items available for shipping. The latest $50 off promo for the 4 mentioned CPUs is awesome and I'm truly blessed to live less than 5 miles from the nearest location 😁
I've been using this tool for a while, even before you posted about it. And it's intentions were amazing. Nowadays though, Malwarebytes gets triggered by this particular tool. Events are labeled as RTP detections with details such as trojans, riskware, compromised websites, and even a straight up virus (Neshta.Virus.FileInfector.DDS) was detected. I think it would be safe to back away from this tool altogether (even the one linked specifically in the description) until we can find a tool that truly is not triggering anti-virus protections like crazy.
I need to update several drivers while I'm reading your comment I need some help. It's recommended or not? I'm using Avast by the way, but I'm gonna remove it to install Malwarebytes Thanks in advance
@@davidfalcon3857 Have Malwarebytes or some other reputable anti-virus installed and running if you must use SDI for drivers. It seems to have blocked all of the nasties. Should be a last resort though. Otherwise, the safest method would be to look up the hardware IDs to your devices on Google (found on the Properties section of each device in Device Manager) to find the make/model of the device and then search the manufacturer websites for the actual driver. Hope this helps.
Wow this program is great I have an Acer Aspire Laptop that has no windows 10 driver support on the Acer web site, but this program found everything for windows 10. N1 Chris you are the man.
IMO no especially if you`re running an AMD powered system because of the second huge performance issue caused by the Win11 TPM 2.0 in combination with AMD`s TPM version from the end of January
@Watcher see "A key Windows 11 security feature is causing AMD performance issues" (27 Jan 2022) on the "Tech Advisor" website as only one example which explains that now for the second time (!!) in three months (!!) there are significant performance issues with devices powered by AMD ... this time the TPM module is to blame, because the issue seems to be caused by compatibility issues between AMD’s TPM (known as “fTPM”) and Windows TPM 2.0 , as opposed to a bug within the OS itself that`s what I found on the Internet, don`t kown whether it`s fixed already I`m running an AMD powered system (5600X + RX6700XT), but I`m definitely not in a hurry, neither with my modern gaming PC, nor with my elder normal Intel "office" PC, which isn`t compatible with Win11, because Win10 will be supported until Oktober 14th 2025 and since release my meanwhile "debloated" Win10 Home 21H2 works fine for me on my machines without any issues ... as we all should know: "Never change a running system unless you have to." ;-) Sorry, but for me, Win11 is absolutely not an option for a long time and as it looks so far I will keep my hands off it and hope for something much better from Microsoft, if they can still do it at all. Maybe a Windows 12 would help, because it seems to be common that certain new Windows versions are worth almost nothing and am best are skipped by most users. My hope is that "something with Linux" will be much better in the next few years, especially for the gaming genre and for passionate gamers like me, because my gaming passion is actually the only reason why I continue to use Windows especially on my “gaming” PC.
@Watcher Hello, Watcher, thank you very much for your very kind comment, I really appreciated that, especially because English isn`t my native language ... "you made my day" as they say ... Cheers !! ... and best wishes from Germany
I remember I tried to change some automatically installed drivers for some of the new drivers that were in the official web, and when you uninstall the one you want to delete, PC asks for a reboot, and when you reboot Windows already installed it again, such a pain in the ass
Thanks for the tool recommend, though I only really encounter driver issues when it comes to either older Acer laptops, or laptops with goofy trackpad manufacturers, where even the manufacturer’s website can’t decide whether it’s an ELAN trackpad or the other brand whose name escapes me.
I hate when windows installs drivers for me. I always have to block the pending driver updates that comes up when i press search for updates. It always installs old display drivers.
Used this app to try to restore a driver that disappeared. Not only did it not get me the missing driver, now I've lost all audio and I've been poking around my comp for 2 hours trying to get sound back. Some "upgrade" for my drivers.
Just a reminder - don't fix things if they are not broken! I gave it a go, despite not having problems, and the program succesfuly bricked my laptop keyboard. I had to use System Restore. Also, the automatic restore point created by the program didn't fix the missing keyboard. Always make MANUAL restore point before playing with drivers!
for my personal rig, i only install the minimum set of drivers that i need. if there are devices that don't have drivers and aren't working, then so be it. if i'm not using it, why should hackers get to use it? one less attack vector. can't turn on a web cam if the os doesn't even know the device exist because the drivers aren't even in the system to begin with.
i have four pcs in my home two amd two intel running this driver update tool took out the keyboards and all usb ports on the intel systems i tried it on the second intel one after it bricked the first one just for curiosity and it did bricked that one too forcing me to use remote desktop to get keyboard and mouse back to be able to system restore which thankfully worked
What a great utility. For a long time I've had minor, niggly issues, all drivers are latest. SDIO actually installed some older ones and/or different ones and had no issues for an hour or so .. Way to go!
This bricked my PC. Attempts to load into windows, keeps spinning, no error messages, reboots several times, goes to blue screen trouble shooter. All settings were left at default values as shown on your copy. BRICKED! Any help would be appreciated.
Comletely messed up mh audio drivers!!! I am using a dell inspiron 15 3501. Updated all the drivers with SDIO. Then my audio started acting funny. It wont detect headphones without reboot, also microphone stopped working. Even tried restore point but still didn't work. Installed the driver manually from dells site for multiple times. At first it didn’t work but now working some how!!! Killed so much of my time, as I had my exams going on, and I needed laptop for studies!
Snappy Driver won't run on my MB, because the MB drivers are missing. Windows runs too slow to install the 71 dtivers manually, so a driver installer like Snappy, which crashes, is needed.....but Windows runs too slow to install them.....sort of catch 22.
Your debloat script is too much closed to to my tastes. It automatically installs the tools which I don't want. And could install when I needed. First few version which just debloated were great. Couldn't you separate the options for debloat and optional installs. Until then I'm sticking with Sycnex's debloat script. BTW, this video is good stuff.
I am also less keen on the automatic installs issue. The current tool I find not so bad though on that issue, as it only installs winget and some O&O stuff , I think, the rest is optional via a button click
With my Windows 11, I've lost some functions now, the clipboard only holds one item, and if I go down to the windows and right-click, I don't get the menu that comes up. It starts flickering.
I have an aging Dell E6440 that has an AMD 8600M series dedicated GPU. The problem is, when Windows (10 or 11) installs the driver for it, it BSOD and corrupts the system, If I use the Snappy Driver app, it also do the same thing. Apparently the latest driver for this old GPU has that "annoying" bug. The only way to fix it is using the penultimate driver released that has no bugs. Ive only found this issue on this particular laptop...
I don't know if you read the comments but this is really strange. I lost sound on my laptop. It still worked with earphones and connect to wireless display. I run Fedora from the USB and sound OK. Rebooted into Windows and now the sound is OK. Really weird, right.
?? I need a free driver updater. I have realtek drivers that I can't find the latest one. I run CC cleaner and it shows me which driver I need, but I can not find it.
Stumbled across your video. I just built a computer that wont connect to the internet because its missing drivers. So with Snappy Drivers, can I download a driver in put it on a different computer via usb?
A guy that looks just like me bought his laptop at microcenter. It was a return that they upgraded with a SSD and 8GB of RAM. ("Lenovo" Y-520) I wanna say it cost him like 800 bucks for an uppgrayyedd (for a double dose of this pimpin) gaming laptop. Pretty solid deal man. He's still using it, and he bought that thing like 8-10 years ago.
1) Snappy Driver sometimes shows drivers with a more recent date but a lower version number. How is this to be understood? I bought a second-hand computer with Windows 10 pro, actually it is new from a company off-load. One of the first things I did was look for driver updates. I stumbled upon a software called Bit Driver Updater and installed and used it. It seems to do a good job. Is it doing the job? Non-professionals like me really do not know what any of this stuff does.
I would love to run the program you have here to update drivers I usually use driver easy but it's the free version and it's going to run out soon. I would love to use this software but the problem I'm having is whenever I download the packet I can't run the software I don't have the application necessary to run it. So I noticed that you brought up a software to run the packet in I don't know what this is and it's so blurry in the background it's hard for me to see so if you could tell me how you're running. The sdio software the way you are that would be great choose software to open with.
Thanks! Amazing video. Updated all the drivers. Wow! Too bad the Razer Engine stopped working and now, there is nothing that makes it be installed again on my PC. Any idea what went wrong??
hello there snappy driver installer origin is so good but i have a question after downloading and installing drivers should i delete those already downloaded and installed drivers found in the "drivers folder" within driver installer origin ?
I recently "upgraded" to a clean install of windows 11, however using SDIO, it claims there is no updates for any of my drivers, even though I only let Windows install the initial drivers, including very old Display drivers that it upgraded from in Windows 10. Any idea why it doesn't seem to be working in Windows 11?
My PC is an older hp that runs good except when Windows 10 updates. The USB 3.0 driver gets replaced and consequently stops working , the next update will SOMETIMES change it so the usb works again. I tried the command to block driver updates but it still does it. I copied the good driver to a holding location but even trying to manually update it comes back and says the best driver it ALREADY LOADED. 😡😡 Any suggestions
What's the deal with snappy driver installer recommending optimal drivers from 1968? I have a z690 DDR4 Intel. There's like five of them they're recommending from the same time frame. Should I keep away considering they're that old?

My MalwareBytes keeps blocking the app trying to go out to various IPs and ports. Should I not be using this app now?
yes, do not use it
Thanks a lot for the info, but is it recommended to keep your drivers always updated?
"go to the manufacture of your box" what how what does that even mean what box
Why is it that other driver update programs find a lot of things missing, but snappy does not?
i have this setting set to NO and it still keeps reverting my IGPU driver to an older one whenever i try to perform basic windows update
Quick question what to do if you accidentally delete some internet drivers and can’t acces no network drivers

As usual you are the MAN thanks.
Sounds like great advice. I subscribed. Will this work with windows 8 on my ASUS? THANKS AGAIN
How do I open the app? It just keeps going to folders
Thank you.
You said that graphics drivers are not investigated. Are there any other driver types that SDIO ignores?
So it is better to download the driver from the manufacturing of my laptop?
Couldn’t you use intel driver support assistant for the intel nuc
my audio isnt working and ive been trying to update all my drivers but nothing happens :(

On SDI you can download only the Index.. And then SDI will download what is missing/needed for you ;)
MICROCENTER should become the Next Newegg , a lot of people doesn't have a Microcenter store near town

Thanks! Amazing video. Updated all the drivers. Wow! Too bad the Razer Engine stopped working and now, there is nothing that makes it be installed again on my PC. Any idea what went wrong??

Hello Chris, when using your Script, in the Edge browser it appears (THE BROWSER IS ADMINISTERED BY YOUR ORGANIZATION). How can I get it out?

Any suggestions

What's the deal with snappy driver installer recommending optimal drivers from 1968? I have a z690 DDR4 Intel. There's like five of them they're recommending from the same time frame. Should I keep away considering they're that old?
