Hi I am unable to comment so I am commenting on your pin. I had to respond to your post as I totally agree. Some women...and the majority of women love to put other women down. I see it all the time. Why aren't these women supporting each other? I totally agree with all that you have said. Have a lovely day
Just thought you should know that the sun doesn’t oxidise your skin, oxygen does. The sun is bad yes, but oxidisation, as the term suggests, is oxygen causing a chemical reaction such as with iron where it causes rust. But also you are awesome and maybe in America (if that’s where you live) the education system is not great and you didn’t get to learn about oxidisation ☺️ And good on you for keeping working, I intend to work as long as I can, but not 5 days a week, just 2, haven’t worked 5 days a week continuously since 1997, its too much for my mental health to cope with. But like you, I don’t spend much or follow trends so I can live on very little money in Australia where the cost of living is crazy.
It's so refreshing to see a 50+ woman to talk and share experience here on TH-cam. So many of the influencers here are barely 30. We need to speak out and speak up.
So funny, I just told my coworker today that I have no plans to retire. I’m your age and I don’t have any issues with my current job and it’s completely stress free. I make good money and I have a life outside of work. I enjoy the low cost health benefits, the funding of a pension and a generous 401k. So for now, I’m going to live in these blessings and continue with gratitude!
@broco6608 I totally understand. There were many times in my career where I had a job I didn’t enjoy. I’m at the tail end of my career and I am blessed with a job where my coworkers are spread across the country so there’s very little day to day interaction. And I have the ability to work from home a few days out of the week. That helps tremendously. I work in finance.
I am not able to disclose what I do for a living and need to keep that personal but the bulk of my work is field work that consists of traveling which I love.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I can’t even begin to think of the pain. Please continue to take care of yourself. Much love. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
Wow! It is amazing how people show you who they are when you need them. My Mother passed away and I expected people to be there for me who weren't. I see who they are now. Today, I don't go out of my way for anybody and I have adjusted my expectations for other people. I focus on my wellbeing and comfort. My condolences about your son.
We sold our home and moved into a 55+. We paid in full and only have a small HOA. We’ve got a lakeside view, golf course, pool and 100 clubs and parties to pick from, a library, gym and it was the best thing we did. I’m just 55. My mom is 74 and we’re enjoying the heck out of ourselves. ☺️
That is amazing! I love all of that for you!!! Due to the current real estate market, it doesn't make sense for us to make any major changes and incur additional debt. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
I wish I loved my job. I have never found fulfillment from working. I’m 55 in January and I can’t wait to retire and spend my time reading, making art, gardening and spending more time with my grandsons.
I love that you have a plan for when you retire and will do the things that will bring you joy. That is what is most important. Keep smiling and do what makes your heart happy! I appreciate your support! ♥
Me too! 55 in January and I’m over this job but I have managed to keep working from home after others were required to go back to the office.. so I’m trying to hang in there and focus on my financial goals until I can “retire” from this and focus on a means producing income that I will enjoy
I heard a quote once and it holds true -- especially given your scenario. "Do what you HAVE to do so that you can do what you WANT to do"! I appreciate your support. 🦋
Hey sis, I completely get and understand what you’re saying and those are things that I’ve always done especially the fashion trends. I dress how I want to dress. I’ve never looked to the world to validate me with anything that I did. I was cast out by many because I didn’t follow Everyone else and I was OK with that. I am OK with that. I am now 58 years old I still do me and not concern myself with anyone else so I salute you carry on. 🙏🏽♥️
I love all of that for you sis! Doing what you love, makes you happy and brings you joy is the ultimate goal. Keep doing YOU! Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
That's it! 1) Live the second chapter of your life with intention and purpose. 2) Take care of your health (mental, spiritual and physical) 3) Stay as active as possible 4) But don't feel guilty about doing nothing sometimes, or saying no. 5). If you can afford to, travel and see the world! Great tips! 👍
Living your life doing the things that make you happy and bring you joy is the ultimate goal. However way you get there! Retirement is a personal choice and I respect everyone’s journey. Thank you for watching and noting the highlights. I appreciate your support. 🦋
@theyolandamoore Awww...thank you sis! And you are killing it with your channel. I watch as many as I can and want to give you as many watch hours as possible. We are all in this together. I was watching ESPN coverage of the MBA game the other night and immediately thought of YOU. I can't wait to see on that stage one day SOON! Much love.
I feel like a baby giraffe whenever I put on heals! I can't believe I wore them for 12+ hours a day. I have no idea how I did that but am so happy I no longer wear them! ♥
I purged my closet last month and it was so liberating. I am so happy for you! Isn't it the best feeling? I can relate to you on all levels. This season for me has been about purging, shedding and letting go of things that no longer serve me which include my hair, clothing, shoes, bags, decluttering my basement and a few more. Maybe one day I will do a video on them and share them here. Thoughts? Thank you for your comment & support. ♥
Im so glad I hate shopping lol (I'm sure my husband is, too 😆). I was never into the whole fashion scene..... I could care less 🤷♀️ give me a few outfits, and I'm good 😉 God bless you, beautiful ladies 🙏❤️
You are one smart cookie! It took me to 60 to learn to not give a shit about what others think, and to withdraw myself from negativity. If a person doesnt add something positive to my life, they are not in my life anymore.

I retired as early as was financially possible. at 56! At that point I had been working full-time for 40 years and I was really fed up with it. I have never regretted it and, 5 years later, I still enjoy every single day with absolute gratitude. I'm living my best life NOW
Wow! Congratulation and kudos to you!! That is absolutely amazing and am happy for you. Living life on your terms is the ultimate goal. Thank you for your comment & support. ♥
I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.
I love all of that for you!! Amazing! I have found that retirement is a personal choice based on many factors. Doing what you love, brings you joy and makes you happy is the ultimate goal. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
Marriage, kids & retirement are personal decisions. Doing what you love and brings you joy is the most important. Keep doing you. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I had an awakening 15 years ago about work and money. I stopped proving myself and strived to save aggressively. I retired at 57. Time is more valuable. I live a life without much to-dos. I have some social life I keep at arms length. I have hobbies I am not dying to master with a time frame. I am single and childless. I care for my mother. Life is pretty good now.
Caring for a loved one, especially an aging parent is a full time job. Congratulations and blessings to you for doing that hard job. Also, congrats on your retirement. That is awesome. I love that for you. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
Amen!! I needed this right here. I'm 54 yrs young and feeling the same exact way. My patience is gone and don't tolerate any more bs from anyone any longer.
Doing what you love, brings you joy and makes you happy is the ultimate goal. Keep taking care of YOU. We are all in this together!!! Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I love love love this. The last 12 months have been the hardest of my life. I am 53, 54 this year, split with my husband of 11 years, lost my Dad and became an orphan, moved house and got divorced. I had my son at 45 so am 53 with an 8 year old. Thanks to the divorce, I’ve had to move house, restart on my own and take out a huge mortgage. I can’t retire as I have a child to raise. So circumstances have set me against the societal norm for a woman of my age. And I’m ok with that. Am I where I thought I’d be at this age? No. Am I where I want to be at this age? No. Am I going to love this life I’m living despite all of that? Damn right I am. At the risk of sounding like a cliche, life is what you make it, it’s not a dress rehearsal, and you only get to do it once. So live your life the way you want to live it.
Sorry to hear about this challenging time but sounds like you are focused and driven so kudos to you for rising above it all. Societal norms are ridiculous. Live your life your way and do what serves you best based on your circumstances. Wishing you all the best and may 2025 bring you abundance & peace. Happy New Year!! Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
When are you going to get a good job? When are you going to get a boyfriend? When are you going to get married? When are you going to have kids? When are you going to retire? Why can’t people just go with the flow and live life the way it works out 🤷🏼♀️
The endless questions!! It’s amazing to me how comfortable some people are with asking personal questions. Live and let live. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
I plan to retire early because i want to be in control of my life. My debt will be paid off next year at 49. Goal is to retire at 55 and just spend that time doing things i enjoy. People retire early for different reason aside from being old. I also don’t focus on trends anymore but i still want to look nice.
YESSS! This is so inspiriting. How amazing. I am so happy for you. I wish I knew at 49 what I know at 54 but it's never too late. Thank you for your comment & support. ♥
@@LifewithLissetteAs a young boy I learned an old saying: "He who trims himself to suit others will soon whittle himself away!". At 61, I'm proud to have lived accordingly. Continue to stand strong and be an inspirational blessing to the generations behind you, my beautiful QUEEN! God bless you!❤🙏
Hey Lisette, fellow 54y.o/ soon to be 55. So nice to meet someone else owning aging gracefully and boldly. I’m still jumping double Dutch and roller skating! Ain’t no BINGO over here! lol
@Yolanda-lr4pq Happy soon to be Birthday! Gracefully & boldly -- YESS! Love that. In junior high and high school we would hurry up to eat our lunch to get to the gym to use up the rest of our time jumping double dutch! The fun and the laughs. I wish I could remember some of the songs that we would sing while jumping. I am going to need to all one of my girlfriends to see if she remembers. I haven't done it in over 35 years and not even sure I could but would sure enjoy making a complete fool of myself in the process just for the sake of bringing back memories. Thank you for letting me walk down memory lane * for your sweet comment. I appreciate your support. ♥
I’m 50 and fully agree with u! When I turned 45 or 46 I decided I am no longer going to do anything that I don’t want to do. My children were grown they’re still grown and I am just doing what I want to do. I’m not married any longer. I don’t have a boyfriend. I’m not dating. I’m just letting God guide me and I’m doing what I want to do. I love it. I feel like I don’t know. I can’t explain it. I just feel like I literally am going and have been telling friends, family people the truth when I don’t wanna do something. I don’t make excuses why I can’t come to their house party or go with them to an event. If I don’t wanna go, I just say I don’t feel like going. It makes me feel better inside to be truthful to myselfand to them. So there’s many things that I’m not going to do that. I’ve decided I’m not going to be complicit for anyone. I love your video.
Yessss!!! Reading your comment filled my heart with excitement because there is no better feeling than living your truth!!! Too often we get caught in making others happy and saying yes to others and we forget to say yes to ourselves. I can totally relate. You are not alone in this. I was around 50 as well when it all started to click. You can still love your friends and family but I’m happy that you are putting yourself first by loving & respecting your own decisions. It is liberating when you realize that doing what you want to do is ok! I love all of this for you. Thank you for sharing!!! I appreciate your support. 🦋
Amen!! Living an honest and authentic life is the most healthy, freeing and peaceful way to live. I refuse to say even little white lies. Recently, I wanted to back out of some plans I made, someone suggested I make up an excuse… which to me is a lie. I finally had the courage to say the truth, that I wouldn’t be going along, as originally planned. We get to change our minds as well, without feeling guilty. It’s a great way to live. God is great and at the end of the day, we answer only to Him. God please bless everyone here!!❤
@ you are 100% correct. It’s ok to say no!! Thank you for your continued prayers and blessings over all of us. It is needed and appreciated. And of course, thank you for your support. 🦋
I am almost 43 and pretty much agree with you. I stopped going places i don't want to go and am pretty good about only buying things that i know i will actually use, wear, or eat. I only buy clothes and shoes when the ones i wear to work are worn out.
I am 44 years old. Yesterday was my last day at my job, I left to open my own business. I have been in the industry for over 25 years, and although I am quite nervous to not be getting a paycheck, I have the time to completely immerse myself in my new career. I can finally do something for myself and call my own shots. I noticed that many people really start to do amazing things for themselves at 40, 50, 60 and even older. Great video, I hope this inspires others to do whatever they want despite what others think and say. And yes drink your water everyone this is very important!
Since retiring much of society really seems insane to me. I feel so sorry for all those people so stressed and angry, rushing around. I like to sit and look at the clouds, and I feel happy. I think about poetry, philosophy. I read paper books and feel a great urge towards simplicity. This is wisdom, we are finding. 😊
Same here. I really think the world has gone mad. I object to all the hyoe about 'setting goals' and ' being your best self'. How about just 'being' and living in the present? I appreciate every day and love walking in Nature, hearing the birds, taking in the beautiful colours and the changing seasons. 😊
54 year old post menopausal woman here. I just discovered your channel and I loved your video. I wish more women embraced aging. My mom died at the age of 46 - she never got to know most of her children as adults, and she never got to be a grandmother. Every birthday I thank God for another year. If God continues to bless me with good health, I don’t think I’ll ever retire. I love my job, love working, and it keeps my brain sharp. Good luck to you and thank you for the positive, meaningful content.
So sorry on the loss of your mom and losing her so you could not have been easy. We are in our prime!! Doing whet you love, brings you joy and makes you happy is the ultimate goal. Thank you for watching and your support. Happy New Year!! 🦋
Im so proud that 50+ woman conquer TH-cam, we have so much to learn from you all, I never click and abo a TH-cam channel so fast like mature woman sharing wisdom. Love, Emi🕊️
Health is everything. I will be sharing a few videos regarding health in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for those. Thank you for watching and your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
I love this video because I'm 57 and I love my life! It's simple; I'm financially independent and I can do whatever I like now; I don't need a lot of friends or the need to keep up with society norms! I feel beautiful and loved and I'm happy now! I'm retired and very happy at 57 and I still feel young! I chose to retire at 50! I like doing nothing or doing whatever I want! Traveling, walking for hours; just doing me! Life is so good at 57❤❤❤
Happy 57th Birthday to you! I love all of this for you! Focusing on what makes you happy and brings you joy is the only thing that matters and it seems as though you are doing all of that! I am so happy for you. Thank you for sharing and for your support 🦋
I love this! Im still in my 30s with no children nor do i plan on having any.. but no matter our age people seem to think women should be at a certain point like for me i should be married with children etc. Its so frustrating, i live how i want to live!!
Live your life as you see fit! I love that you figured this out and you're only 30. I finally started figuring things out in my 50s so you are far ahead of the game which is amazing. Thank you for your support. ♥
You're going to regret it .. because having children is a woman purpose being a grandmother is blessing to achieve once you get old in your 50s and 60s ...you need to reconsider by not having children .
Who's going to regret it? All things can be true without one being more important than the other. Having children is a personal choice. We don't know the full story or the reasons why someone does not have children. Let's embrace folks where they are and respect the decisions that they have made for their own lives. Let's just be happy for each other & lift each other up. That is the goal of my channel. Thank you for understanding. ♥
@@zyajones9360 being a woman is a woman's purpose and that can look a million ways. don't project onto people it's not a good timeless comfortable look ;)
Do not listen to anyone who tells you that you will regret not having children! It makes no sense for someone who has children to say you'll regret not having any. How do they know? Because they have them? That's about the same as someone without kids telling ppl they'll regret having kids. I know women who are over 70 that do not regret not having kids. I think sometimes when ppl say stuff like zyajones did, it is because they are not happy with their lives and although they may not realize it, they want everyone to go through what they did. She sounds really bitter actually. I'm glad to be here but my mother should not have had children and I think she would have been happier if she hadn't. She physically abused me my entire childhood and even hit me in the face once after I was an adult. It's more complicated than being told you should have children because you are female. Sorry for the long rant but your choice is your choice and no one should shame you for it!
Love all this!! I would add that, as a retired woman now living overseas, there’s also the stigma of “Well do you just sit around all day now? How are you contributing to society?” And my answer is that my life is full of everything I want it to be. I have time to enjoy hiking the beautiful cliff beaches where I live and to listen to the gulls overhead and feel the wind on my face. I volunteer and read and and crochet things for my granddaughter and have meaningful conversations with my husband and friends and family and strangers. I take care of myself, I laugh a lot and explore. Life is pretty damn good and I’m finally learning not to care what others think. Thank you!! ❤
This whole entire comment made me smile. I find those questions even funnier when it comes from folks that don’t contrite to society in any way. I love that you are doing all of the things that make you happy and bring you joy. No explanations or reasons required. Why can’t we just be happy for others doing things in their life that is fulfilling and abundant??? Know that I’m super happy form you and wish you all the best!! Thank you for this beautiful comment and your support. 🦋
Girl -- I don't go anywhere without my fan so I hear you loud and clear. I have 3 of the same one because I got tired of moving it from room to room. My fan is my life line. LOL. I appreciate your support. 🦋
My gosh, I’m mirroring you! Just a year behind, at 53 coming up 54. 2.5yr old grandchild, mortgage 2 years away from being paid off. So much identification, as I sit there, listening to you applying my sunscreen in my turtle neck….
I'm an older millennial in my early 40s and seeing your video really confirms what I have noticed : life gets better with age. I feel more confident and sexier, I am wiser and smarter, got more money in the bank. We've been lied to. I love the fact that Gen Xers are sharing so much wisdom on the internet. Thank you for this wonderful video❤
Awww...what a sweet comment. Yes -- we are in our prime! Now let's share our knowledge and experiences to help others. That is the goal of my channel. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your support. 🦋
I am 52 and feeling this big time. I have let go of the twisted belief that I “gotta be productive and helping someone so I am worthy”. Its a tough process but wow how freeing! For the record, you have way more style when you don’t follow the trends. When you are brave enough to explore that, you have more style than anything trending ever. Thank you for putting this out there! Us GenXers are showing up 🤘
That is a great perspective as it relates to trends/styles that I have never thought of. You are most definitely worthy and it is ok to make yourself a priority. GenX for the WIN! Thank you for watching. I truly appreciate your support. 🦋
Congratulations on your Butterfly Era! It is quite liberating. Fashion trends are a waste of time and money, in my humble opinion. Wear what you like. Your money, your time, your business. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
Thank you for this video. I am 56 years old and looking for a partner. I hear constantly that I should not care about my looks or sex because I'm "too old" for all that. Thank you for being out and spreading the word that 50 isn't old, and it is certainly not "too old." ❤🎉
We are in our prime. Live your life doing what makes you happy, brings you joy and that you love. Keep doing YOU! Thank you for watching and your support.
Great information! You do you!!! I retired at 50. I am super active. I'm a photographer and spend time with the AZ wild horses. I also garden, hike, bike, swim, and do yoga. I don't know how I had time to work. I worked hard and saved so I could start living. Being retired isn't giving up, it is a new beginning.
That’s amazing!! Kudos to you for doing what you love and brings you joy!! I love that for you. Retirement is a personal decision based on many variables and factors. Kudos to you for putting the things in place to allow you the time and space to retire at 50!! Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
58 here and I APPROVE of this message 1000%!! Our son is 33 and has his own family. They also live out of town, but we get our grand-daughter one week out of every month. Now it's time for us to live. Even though we were blessed enough to be mortgage free, we both still GLADLY work and can actually retire, but why? I have a good job making good money and have been working from home since 2010. My husband is actually retired Military, but still choose to work a fulltime job because we can. Plus, in this economy, any extra coins is always good. Especially if you CAN still earn a living physically and mentally. A lot of this foolery with some of this younger generation......NOT ALL....is just ludicrous. I actually know quite a few young folks that are still hard workers, respectful, mindful and just great young people, whom I very proud of.
I am late 50s and agree. However, i love the outdoors, nature, the ocean, and sun. I have melasma that blends with my summer bronzing. Staying fit is the most important. Sun is life!! 🌞
I love that for you. Doing what makes you happy and brings you joy is the ultimate goal. Wishing you all the best. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
I’m 48 and have spent the past 15 years dealing with complicated issues surrounding my elderly sick parents, my complicated brother and a mentally ill sister. Dad and sister have passed on and when my mom passes on one day I plan to slow down and focus solely on me. I deeply love my family but truth be told, I’m exhausted and have lost everything, and don’t even have a family or life of my own. And I don’t think I have the energy to reinvent myself. I’m ready to settle in and lead a simple relaxing drama free lifestyle, alone. No spouse, no kids, no friends, limited family contact. Just me, my pets, and my hobbies. I’m no longer interested in complicated.
I am so sorry to hear all that you are going thru. Please try to take care of yourself. Caregiver burnout is real. Is there someone from your church, friends or any other family member that can give you a little break? I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Stay strong. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
Im so happy i just found this channel. I am 100% with you. 💐💐 I can go in my closet now and have enough outfits to wear for the next 10 years the way the styles change
I too am happy that we found each other. I love that for you! I am with you on the trends. I find them to be a waste of time and money. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
This is the absolutely best video I’ve seen!! If people spent more time minding their business instead of giving unasked for opinions the world would be a better place! I’m a 55 y.o. empty nester, my babies are grown my grandchildren are wonderful and I love it. Life is great❤
Awww. You’re so sweet. Unsolicited opinions are the most annoying kind. Live and let live. We are all in this together for sure. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
This is sooooooo good ! no I won't downsize, and no I won't retire until I'm ready and YES Ive always dressed for me ! I tell people " I don't know the style" " I dress on what I want to wear" I do get eyes on me and compliments. Just do you ! I'm gooooood with me ! and all of my blessings are in the palms of my hands.
Reading this made me smile and teary eyes. I love that you do what makes you happy and brings you joy. That is all that matters. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your suppprt. 🦋
Retiring is not a bad thing. Its a blessing to be able to retire and fully enjoy the fruits of your labor. I am actively getting ready and excited for retirement!!🎉
I am so happy for you as you embark in this phase of your life. It's so exciting. Retiring is amazing and fulfilling if that is something you want to do and are ready to do so. Retirement is a personal decision that has many variables all of which are individual and personal. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I'm almost 48 and I'd retire in a heartbeat if I could wrangle it financially. Unless you absolutely love your job, there is more to you than your job. You must have other things you want to do with your life? I have sooo many things that working gets in the way of. I'm done with selling my soul to a job.
I think it’s a personal choice that has many factors. It depends on where you work and what you do. For me personally, I enjoy what I do and have zero stress. My job offers me flexibility which I love. 🦋
Retirement in our 50s is absurd. I’m 56 and started my independent art career 4 years ago. I’m just getting started actually doing what I always wanted to do. And being an artist is the long game. I never want to stop making my art. I agree with you. I avoid the sun like the plague since my early 20s. The opposite of aging is dying young. It’s a blessing and a privilege to be alive and grow old.
It truly is a blessing and privilege. POWERFUL WORDS! Congratulations to you for starting your career doing something you love which is art! I can't draw to save my life. Stick figures is the best I can do so I admire you for being able to express yourself thru art. Have you considered starting a channel that teaches others basic drawing techniques? If so, I will surely subscribe because I can use a little help. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and your support. ♥
I am 44 and agree with every point you made especially the fashion trends. I never cared to keep up even in my 20s I wear what I like no matter how trendy it is.
Good chat. I'm thriving at 65! I'm living my best life, too, though my definition included retiring early. Funny bit: Every time I talked to co-workers to say goodbye, they asked "What are you going to do?". At first, I was perplexed and had no answer. Isn't retirement about doing nothing? Finally, the answer came to me. I would tell them "I'm going to live.". You mention your place in life, and the years behind you. Feeling better than when you were twenty-five. I think that's about the confidence born of all life's experiences, including relationships, career and owning a home. It feels like we've been training all these years, and now have a certain calm clarity. We may not know all the answers, but there are far fewer open questions than when we were twenty-five! I feel secure, able to handle the challenges sent my way, and the freedom to pursue passions closest to my true self. The Me I'd always wished for me. Thanks for a post worth watching. Best of fortune to you.
This whole comment made me tear up and smile the whole time. There is so much truth here and you said it eloquently and perfectly, especially the part about we have been in training for most of our lives. That is so true. I am so happy for you and that you are living the life you curated and created unique for YOU. Keep dreaming and living. All the best to you as well. 🦋🦋🦋
Love this, I'm 64! When people ask me what I'm doing now I say, "Whatever I want!" And sometimes my husband comments on my clothes are a little loud and I answer, "If ya can't be crazy on your way out, when can we?" LOL
I love your spirit and your attitude. Do and wear whatever makes your happy & brings you joy. Keep doing YOU! Thank you for making me laugh and for your support. ♥
I'm 53 yrs old and I was beginning to feel depressed about my age. Things are changing within me which is good but it seems like life is speeding up. My children are adults and I'm trying to find life as a single woman. Thank you for sharing this
Sis…we are in our PRIME! You bring years of experiences, memories and life. We have lived, seen and been a part of so many changes and have lived to tell about it. I did a short form video specific on this topic. I encourage you to watch it. Keep shining & being the best version of you. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
As our days go by,we come to realise that we got one life to live,no experiments or trials.I enjoy my early 60's without taking in other people's opinions.
Thank you for sharing. You really helped me with your channel, I am 56 56-year-old widow. I am healing after 10 years of loss. I lost my sister/best friend 5 years ago. I am grateful for today. Love from Queens, NewYork.
OMG- Just found your channel today and everything you said totally resonated with me. I'm 52 (53 in January) and I am also living my best life. I'm finally at a place in my life where I have gained enough wisdom to make the best choices for myself. Thank you for your positivity. I just subscribed!
Thank you! I needed to hear as a little reminder as I’m getting ready for work..at 59 …im typically wearing jeans…vee neck tees…Keds sneakers and usually a pony tail with minimal makeup. My uniform for two decades and I’m fine with it! I will be selling my paid for home for a much smaller home so I can spend more time having FUN and less time doing housework. I’m single though, so I do it all - inside and outside and it’s a lot. Also, I have a friend (65) who is a gem…but she has a terrible habit of noticing every woman…strangers…and noticing how “old they look”. I remind her gently “not everyone has Botox and fillers injected every 60 days (as she does). I don’t…I’m far more wrinkly than her…but that’s okay too! I don’t have a duckbill for an upper lip and a frozen face. I’m going to retire in a few years…but I’m sure I’ll work somewhere part time a few days a week. I’m happier now at 59 than at 35 because frankly, I’m doing ME and don’t give a rip what others think! It’s incredibly freeing! Thank you Lisette! You are beautiful and so smart! 😉💜
I am so happy for you!! Sounds like you how a solid plan and know exactly what you want. I wish you all the best. Thank you for such a thoughtful and long comment. Let’s continue to lift each other up!! Have a wonderful day. 🦋
Great testimony, Les Brown is on my playlist in my In-School Suspension class for students during their lunch, however, it's really more to motivate me than them. Your truth is appreciated!
That's awesome. You have a tough job but you are turning what could be a bad experience for the students in to something positive. Kudos to you. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I am 53yo, and I have always been like this...( not thinking about what others feel I should wear, or do with my life & my money, etc.) My decision and my life to decide.
If you feel this way wait til you’re 58. My grandson lives in another state. I never had a desire or thought to pack it up and move. I allow myself three designer items per year but not trendy….my mother was talking about me retiring last nite….she say you gonna work ten more years….uh probably not but i am seeking multiple revenue streams too
Multiple sources of income is easier now than ever. I also believe that retirement is a personal choice based on many factors. It is not for everyone. Keep doing what makes you happy and brings you joy. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
WOW! I stumbled upon your channel this morning with coffee…we are same age , grandmothers! Similar life background…thank you for your time and perspective…I look forward to seeing & hearing more of your insight…❤
You express a very strong personality. I also had one. Until grief and medical issues wore me down. Now I feel invisible. I'm proud of you, and it sounds like you have support, which is critical .
Grief and medical issues can be overwhelming and a dark place. I encourage you to seek professional help, at minimal with dealing with grief. I am speaking from personal experience having to deal with the same. I would also like to encourage you to begin a gratitude journal. Often times we get stuck on focusing on the negative things in our lives, our day to day and things around us that we lose sight of all of the beautiful small things we experience daily. I challenge you to write down 3-5 things you are grateful for every day. Doing this shifts your focus and you begin to pay attention to everything during our day, big and small. This process helps with a mindset shift. It is proven to be true that we are what we think. Journaling and walking outside also help a great deal. These are small things that you can incorporate in your day to day. You are far from invisible. Claim, pray and manifest you regaining your strong personality. It hasn’t left you. You have buried it. Life has a way of doing that to us. I hope these suggestions help. Stay strong. Much love. Thank you for watching and for your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
I don’t allow myself to think or feel invisible. I refuse to give others that much power that they dictate how I feel. You are not invisible! You have allowed the world and others to bury it. Find your joy, do things that make you happy, surround yourself around people they bring out the best in you. Community is key. Wishing you all the best. Much love. Thank you for watching and for your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
I’m 44 and I thoroughly enjoyed this video & your points! 👏🏾 BTW - I’ve been a real estate agent for 14 years. 55+ communities are the same, if not more $ than regular homes. It’s for some, but not for all.
Hi Lissette! You popped up as one of the 1st videos of my morning. I was very interested in the title since I'm 56 years old. I'm not quite an empty nester yet. It probably won't be long, though. I love how you're saying that we dont have to just retire and do nothing! Why do younger people think we are so "old"? Ha! I feel great! In fact, I'm in college again to finally get my degree! Go me! I am doing this because I want to, it's fun to learn. Yes, we still learn at our age. 😁 I love the wisdom I've gained as I have gotten older. It makes life so much easier! So, say it loud for us! We have many years left in us, if the good Lord is willing. ❤🙏😎
We are in our prime. Doing what you love, makes you happy and brings you joy is the ultimate goal. Keep doing you!!! And congrats on the “soon to be empty nester phase”! It’s amazing. Thank you for watching and for your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
I didn’t always love my job. Will share more on that in a future video. I went thru a lot of heartache and lost so much time with my girls and family to then lose the job I had given so much of my life to, at 48 years old. I was devastated and hit rock bottom. That experience taught me so many invaluable lessons and propelled me to get laser focused on my worth, praying hard and being patient for the right job which is what landed me the job I have today. I hope this message gives you hope! Thank you for sharing and for your support. 🦋
I’m 48. I’ve had a thought replaying in my head for a bit now. I’m a whole, grown ass woman. I don’t have to a damn thing I don’t want to. Period. I loved this video. It’s so refreshing, so relevant. It’s encouraging to know one is not alone. Thank you, and stay blessed.
I would not have been ready either at 55 to retire because like you I liked my job. But when you know that you know that's it's time to go, that's when you go. 😉 I retired a year ago at the age of 66, and haven't looked back. I'm now 67 (people don't believe I have a 48yo son) and thankfully I have good health, stays active, and enjoying life with my husband.😊
Congratulations on your retirement! I love that you did it when you were ready. That's amazing and I am so happy for you. Best of luck and blessings to you in this next chapter. Enjoy the journey. I appreciate your support. ♥
Snaps🫰🏾and claps👏🏾 to this excerpt of TRUTH! I retired at 45 (now 53). My husband still works but works in what he loves to do. We invest, we use simple products on our bodies and try to eat whole foods as much as possible. I'm comfortable in my skin in all that I wear, do and what I'm created to be. That dressing "comfortable" line hit my whole heart. Lady we are grown AF and we are in a whole different level in our lives. Thank you so much for this insane piece. You're beautiful and amazing!❤
Awww you’re so sweet. Kudos to you for retiring when you were ready. Doing what we love, brings us joy and makes us happy is the ultimate goal. Thank you for watching and your support. Happy New Year!! 🦋
I’m so with you on all of these points. I’m turning 60 in a few months and I could care less what friends and family think of my clothes, hairstyle or what I should do to look younger. I want my body and mind to be healthy and strong. That’s what’s important to me. Look forward to more videos 🦋
Keeping you body and mind healthy is paramount! Continue to take care of you. Happy soon to be birthday to you. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
We are twinsies and didn’t even know it!! lol. Retire when you’re ready. Block out all of the noise! Focus on doing what makes you happy and brings you joy. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I retired at 52 not getting a big check but that’s ok I survive and I’m happy and at peace. I’m frugal and working on decluttering home and just live with what I need. 🤷♀️
That’s amazing. Congratulations on your retirement and prioritizing living a simple, minimalistic life. I love that for you. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
This is amazing lady ! Love it ! Im so tired of this highschool like society we live in and dont wanna ever be trying to make others accept me , im still trying to accept myself who cares what others think about the lives only us as individuals can live .
Accepting ourselves! Wow! That part! Isn't that the whole truth. We have come to far to deal with high school shenanigans. Keep doing you. Thank you for watching and your support. ♥
Um, ma'am...it's like you peered in to my soul and found the words that I could not. You have very nicely expressed the changes I have made and am making in my life, started about a year ago. At 58 life is now what I choose to make it and I am no longer at the beckoned call of those who would try to use me and my time for their own purpose. I do indeed FEEL HAPPY and at peace with myself. 😊😊😊
Doing what you love and brings you joy is the ultimate goal. So happy for you that you are enjoying this journey! I love that for you. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
God Definitely Led Me 2 Your Channel because I’m about to be 49 and I’m Now Eligible For Retirement from The NYC Department of Sanitation and most of the newer people at my job seem so overly concerned about when I’m going to retire. Mind you the OGs that came before me did 25-27 years walked off the job looking great and are still in good health. I’m definitely going to use your rebuttal every time someone asks me that because they’ve never heard me complain about my job… I love what I do and I take pride in it. You also look amazing at 54 *with all due respect to your husband. Keep coming with the good content… instantly subscribed and liked from about a minute in.

Hi I am unable to comment so I am commenting on your pin. I had to respond to your post as I totally agree. Some women...and the majority of women love to put other women down. I see it all the time. Why aren't these women supporting each other? I totally agree with all that you have said. Have a lovely day
Oh I can now. Yay
You are Blessed and Highly Favored in the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen❤
Just thought you should know that the sun doesn’t oxidise your skin, oxygen does. The sun is bad yes, but oxidisation, as the term suggests, is oxygen causing a chemical reaction such as with iron where it causes rust. But also you are awesome and maybe in America (if that’s where you live) the education system is not great and you didn’t get to learn about oxidisation ☺️
And good on you for keeping working, I intend to work as long as I can, but not 5 days a week, just 2, haven’t worked 5 days a week continuously since 1997, its too much for my mental health to cope with. But like you, I don’t spend much or follow trends so I can live on very little money in Australia where the cost of living is crazy.
I retired at 58.. Best move i have ever made. I am single. I do me, live me, and please me...
Yesssss! I love all of that for you! Do what makes YOU happy! Thank you for your comment & support. ♥

Hi there, I’m at Level 58 and about to Retire (Lord Willing) in 6 months and i can’t wait. My Job is very toxic, and full of stress.
Rosie Perez vibes 👀
It's so refreshing to see a 50+ woman to talk and share experience here on TH-cam. So many of the influencers here are barely 30. We need to speak out and speak up.
Yes for sure. We are in our prime. Thank you so much for being here and your support. 🦋
@@songsofsofia yes! So we are not invisible anymore
@@ArizonaLuxe EXACTLY!! Yes to all of the above. “Live in these blessings” - oh how I love that. I am with you 100%. 🦋
May I ask what you do for a living? I absolutely look forward to retiring because of how hideous my co-workers and bosses are.
@arizonaluxe our jobs sound very familiar except I am not in finance. It is refreshing to be in a role and with a company that I truly love. ♥

Today, I don't go out of my way for anybody and I have adjusted my expectations for other people. I focus on my wellbeing and comfort. My condolences about your son.

High Five! 🙌
I’m retired @ 53. I’m so happy.

1) Live the second chapter of your life with intention and purpose.
2) Take care of your health (mental, spiritual and physical)
3) Stay as active as possible
4) But don't feel guilty about doing nothing sometimes, or saying no.
5). If you can afford to, travel and see the world!

All of this, yes!!!
Congratulations to you! Wishing you so much success in your new business. You will do great.
Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
There is true beauty in simplicity. Your life sounds peaceful and I love that for you. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your suppprt. 🦋
Same here. I really think the world has gone mad. I object to all the hyoe about 'setting goals' and ' being your best self'. How about just 'being' and living in the present? I appreciate every day and love walking in Nature, hearing the birds, taking in the beautiful colours and the changing seasons. 😊
I love this side of the algorithm 🎉
Thank you! I appreciate your support. ♥

Oh my, I'm SO glad I found your channel!! Thank you for it!! ❤ You speak truth. I'm 58 and have all the feelings of still being 30 inside.
I am so happy we found each other. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
Im so proud that 50+ woman conquer TH-cam, we have so much to learn from you all, I never click and abo a TH-cam channel so fast like mature woman sharing wisdom.

Awwww! How sweet! We MUST support each other. I love your energy. Thank you for your comment & continued support. ♥
As a fifty yr old, my health is my wealth. I’m embracing this chapter in my life! Thank you for sharing . 💝💝💝
Wow, good for you.
You are AWESOME! Artists don't "retire" they improve.
Yesss....exactly. I love that. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I've started listening to Diana Ross' song, "It's My Turn!" I get it now! And at 53, cotton and a good fan are priceless!
Girl -- I don't go anywhere without my fan so I hear you loud and clear. I have 3 of the same one because I got tired of moving it from room to room. My fan is my life line. LOL. I appreciate your support. 🦋
I’ve been listening to I’m coming out Diana Ross lately 🤣🤣🤣
Great song! A classic. Diana Ross is amazing. Now I am going to have to listen to the song. Thank you!
My gosh, I’m mirroring you! Just a year behind, at 53 coming up 54.
2.5yr old grandchild, mortgage 2 years away from being paid off. So much identification, as I sit there, listening to you applying my sunscreen in my turtle neck….
Look at us!! That's amazing. I am so happy we found each other. Thank you for watching and for your support. 🦋
Girl preach. Look at the people who just lost everything.
Yes for sure. Such devastation. It is all so sad. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
Breathe of fresh air finding your channel…
That makes me so happy! Excited that we found each other. I appreciate your support. 🦋
As a 31 yearold I love this. ❤️ A confident 54 yearold who knows what she wants out of life. You're inspiring!
We are all in this together! We are in our PRIME!
So true about fashion trends. Most of them are recycled over the decades. Same with music. Am with you on the "Butterfly Era" 🦋🩵
Sounds like a beautiful lifestyle 😊
Thank you I'm getting there I'm 57 and this is exactly the things I follow this year . Thank you
We are in our prime. Do whatever makes you happy, brings you joy and that you love. Thank you for watching. I appreciate your support.
I agree with you 100 percent. Being 51, I feel that this is the time of my life to finally put myself first and not feel guilty about doing so.
Thank you for watching and your support!
I'm 45 and I feel like I've finally reached a point where I actually don't give AF what people think about me. It's very liberating. ❤
Liberating is an understatement. Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋
Same! Minding my business and doing what I want. Nothing more/Nothing less…
Isn't it so liberating? There is beauty in simplicity! ♥
@LifewithLissette Yes ma'am!
41. Same, I buy clothes I feel comfortable in, in multiple colours. Comfortable shoes only.
@@cpwwjd69 Yes comfort first!
Comfortable shoes are underrated!!! lol. Yes! I appreciate your support!!
I just turned 50, and im in 100% agreement with you. Just live our wonderful life and do you. Love that!
Happy Birthday to you.
Thank you for watching and your support. 🦋

OMG- Just found your channel today and everything you said totally resonated with me. I'm 52 (53 in January) and I am also living my best life. I'm finally at a place in my life where I have gained enough wisdom to make the best choices for myself. Thank you for your positivity. I just subscribed!
Yay! Congrats to you on your achievement. I can feel the excitement in your comment. Taking care of ourselves is a must.

You express a very strong personality. I also had one. Until grief and medical issues wore me down. Now I feel invisible. I'm proud of you, and it sounds like you have support, which is critical .
I don’t know how old you are, but I have definitely found that as a woman who’s older than 50, to most people I am invisible.
This is brilliant! As a fellow 54 year old woman I applaud you and appreciate your thoughtfulness and more importantly, unapologetic attitude.
Awwww...thank you for your sweet comment, your support and for watching! Happy New Year!🦋

Just be glad you enjoy your job! I don’t right now and it’s taking it’s toll on me.
You are not alone sis. We are in this together. Thank you so much for watching and for your support. Happy New Year! 🦋

Keep doing you & ignore the peanut gallery. Thank you for watching & subscribing. I appreciate your support. 🦋
Amen! You and your husband have decided what's best for the two of you! Congratulations! 🎉
Thank you for watching and your support. Happy New Year! 🦋
