I've watched a lot of tutorials in the last year and learned a lot along the way (thanks for recommending AYNIL btw :) ), but every time I come back to rewatching your videos, I find myself learning something new. Hope one day I can shake your hand, because we share the same passion. We are a community worldwide and I love this thing, the fact many many people still understand the only immortal possible groove, the unique hypnotic DNA sound of TECHNO. Compressing the sound to reduce peak signal so it would be closer to the RMS signal. it's meant to make your snare sound more clear cut through the mix in that example and avoids muddy fequencies/bleeding(unwanted noise) from pushing the (volume)level too much.

    Why do you choose -3db for your kick?

    • @craig3880
      @craig3880 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably with the way technology and hardware is advancing I don't know for him personally. But he starts off by saying everything was tuned to -18, then as the years went on it went to -12, then we were at -6db now its likely -3db based on accuracy of our synths/vsts and hardware capabilities that you can mix and master for all platforms very accurately with 3db of space. Just an observation as I remember watching old school mastering videos and they were talking about leaving -6 to -10db of "headroom" and since his kick/bass would be the loudest in his mix I presume hes using it for headroom calculation.
