I agree with Mark, it's so uncomfortable. Social situations are so uncomfortable for me, I'll avoid it at all costs.

Totally understand what you're saying Mark - if you're not comfortable, then you're just not comfortable..; No-one can force you to feel otherwise, even if it's for someone's else benefit (like a partner.). And at the end of the day - you just don't enjoy these situations and would rather be just about anywhere else.. I'm in the same boat & avoid like the plague.. Just not my scene..

Happy anniversary, I've been married 23 years July and we also have had many hard times together you are very lucky to have a man that can communicate his feelings marriage is all about communication and having the ability to say sorry and I think that's something that always has to be worked on no matter how many years you have been married 😚😊xxx

I am totally with Mark I have this totally and my husband would go on his own as I couldn’t cope with going. Love how Mark is so good at communicating his feelings it’s so valuable as most men can’t do this and just walk away from their wives and children with no explanation. I wish you’d started your podcasts 18 months ago.

“ It is better to be kind than be right “ i love that !!! I totally related to what you said nads about the fake it to make it thing and about getting anxious before seeing people... I feel like that a a lot ! I think it comes down to peoples expectations of me to always be my fun bubbly self so I feel that pressure sometimes !! Mark I wish you could see what we all see ...you’re a great guy !! Great podcast as always ... you’re both very special ! Congrats on 16 years it’s quite an achievement 💛💛xx

Omg Mark watching this and you sound just like me, I suffer awful social anxiety, got worse as I’ve got older. I’m great with my work and people that really know me, I’m told I’m bubbly and fun and good company when I have to be in social situations, yet beforehand I’m crippled with anxiety, as you say funnily enough I’m good at small talk, yet at a party (even the word fills me with dread now), yet I hate small talk, I end up coming home totally drained and totally relieved it’s over with. I could have a drink, I don’t drink a lot anyway so would go to my head and then I’d worry I’m not in control or I’ll be judged, maybe it’s paranoia, but I totally understand. I only go to things I absolutely need to these days, avoidance I suppose. Me and hubby been married 30 years and he’s my best friend and the one person who knows me well. I’m same with him, we are a team that faces the world together, we have so much love and respect for each other I’m very lucky. As always great topic lots of things to think of 💕

Happy Anniversary to you both! Great podcast as always. Totally relate to Mark social situations are a NIGHTMARE! What I love about your podcasts is that they are so open and honest - I could listen to them for hours. I would like to hear more about how you are both able to overcome certain issues, like being able to say sorry and the jealousy etc because being able to overcome these battles is incredible. I love that quote "Better to be kind than to be right", something I have being trying to do just recently.

I have never been married but I split from the father of my 5 kids after 10 years together...he found it very hard to say ‘sorry’ and I couldn’t cope with his mood swings...he was either up or down with no middle ground. I can totally relate to you Mark in social situations...my partner Tim is in his 50’s...I am 42 and often need his support which if you go off as Mark described to for girly chats Nadia, I can understand why Marks would struggle...just as well he’s the guy and I’m the girl that case lol but anxiety can fill me with dread when I am left alone my him even for a few mins or by my kids. Congrats to you both though...if you can laugh with each other you’re doing something very right.

Social awkwardness is such an awful thing.. feeling like you need to be a certain way to basically please people, and fit in with everyone else so you don't draw attention to yourself..which makes you extremely uncomfortable. I'd be really interested to hear you do a podcast purely on social anxiety/awkwardness.. I can really relate x

I feel like I swap in between being a Nadia and being a Mark, for weeks at a time I'll hate any social situation and then ill be filled with a terrible guilt for not making the most out of life and go mad for socialising for weeks, then it'll exhaust me and ill go back to being introverted!

It’s our 20th anniversary next year , and wonder how we got here ( after 4 kids ) lol , we have had our ups and downs and survived ( just ) lol . My husband is the social one , I think over the years I’ve got use to my own company and finding it hard to break free from that , I don’t drink due to my childhood involving a lot of alcohol, and hate socialising in a environment involving alcohol 🤷🏼‍♀️, I wish I could get involved but can’t 😣, I struggle. Love you both , your are both so down to earth and honest . Stay strong together xxxx

Totally emapthise with Mark about social situations. People assume cos you're sociable and confident in personal relationships that it translates into social situations with strangers. It so doesn't and it's so terrifying.

Totally agree with both of you we all show we are shy in different ways. I use to hide behind my Dad even with family members I know. I have become more confident as I have got older as have to overcome it running a craft business and meeting people who do what I like. When you have a creative mind and in Media and film industry etc we are all shy to some point and its the same actors are shy. Social is very difficult I have a son with Autism and has other difficulties he was abused by his father but he is overcome it he is doing pathway courses and next year he is doing ICT/Media/photography course he has Media in GCSE he was mainstream education. I have loved all your videos. Love your Mum and Dad Nadia my Mum and Dad were together for nearly 40 years before she died and he remarried he celebrated two lots of silver anniversary. I love the fact you love being together.
