Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Great video!!! The carb on my snowblower had fuel pouring out of it, and nothing I had tried affected it. After trying a carb rebuild kit, a thousand float/needle adjustments, and a million curse words, I found this video. Turns out that the vent hole on my carburetor was plugged.
Cleaned out the vent hole, and NO MORE FLOODING!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!
    FYI - I used a 0.6mm dia (.024" dia) micro drill bit.

My father in law had John Deere redo this carb almost yearly for this. (too bad no TH-cam 30 years ago) I ran it dry until friend said not to. Then it started happening to me. Had a shop redo the carb 2 years ago. Ran great that year, Got it ready for winter today and gas all over. Couldn't believe another needle and seat; TH-cam is go to reference, and between DonyBoy and Taryl have been fixing the toys myself. Would have spent 85 bucks for a 5 minute repair. Thank You for the information, I never realized there was a vent hole there. I hope that holds true for older 5hp carb, I did the auger upgrade and it was working well till it started leaking gas second time out. That little blower really throws snow well when it runs correctly, even in slush at roadside.

After checking and setting the float and replacing the needle and seat I was at a loss as to what to look at next. Then, I found your video and was encouraged but on inspecting my carburetor it didn't look like it had such a vent. Finally, I decided to poke around a little and a slightly darker spot less than a millimeter in diameter caught my eye. Sure enough. My probe stuck! I'd say that vent is just a half millimeter in diameter. Fixed. Without a manual, can't imagine how I would have come up with that. On automotive carburetors like Carter AFBs and Rochester Quadrajets, bowl vents are enormous and you never think of them as possibly being blocked. For those curious, if the vent is blocked fuel in the float bowl can't rise. The air above the fuel is a trapped bubble. If the fuel level doesn't rise, neither does the float and the flow of fuel through the needle and seat continues. The fuel level does however rise in the main fuel nozzle, that tube running from the bottom of the float bowl up, into the throttle bore. donyboy73, thank you very much.

Wow.. been working on these engines for years and never knew about that vent! I had a smaller Ariens snowblower with a 3.5HP engine and the diaphragm bottom carburetor, and I even went so far as to replace the carburetor with a brand new one and it STILL leaked fuel and flooded out. I gave up on it and sent it to the scrap heap. it wasn't a junker either, it was well taken care of but I scrapped it because of that stupid carburetor.
