Okay, I've been struggling trying to learn how to do pinch harmonics for a few days now, I was getting them sometimes, but after watching the vide I get them more consistently immediately. Thank you, time to put in the time to solidify the technique!
Ive been playing 12 years and i still have not once produced a pinch harmonic, i dont think a single video at this point will help me with the insurmountable amount of ways ive attempted this, as someone who feels metal is where ive stayed in learning this is honestly enraging
Just keep at it and you’ll eventually get it. I can’t do them perfectly every time and kinda get into funks where it doesn’t seem like I can get it and other times it feels like I can’t miss. You’ll get it though but I know it’s frustrating as I’ve been there. Try moving your picking hand up and down the neck (actually the guitar body) and find the natural harmonic by just touching the string after you picked it. It really helped me as there are spots where it’s very difficult to get the squeal
Hey Steve, great lesson!! I've been struggling with pinch harmonics for a long time now. I can get them 99% of the time when I hold the pick between my thumb and middle finger and it's hard to transition back to holding the pick with forefinger, when playing along to a song. Is there any way to possibly get them everytime? Especially on the low strings-3rd fret of low E string, for example.
I use a .88 jazzlll pick works for me. I still struggle if I use a traditional pick but I’m sure it’s in my head. Right or wrong I have a big pick slant when I play
Yes, yes.....but it drives me crazy to get it 🤣🤣🤣🤣...the first time I realized I wanted to do palm mute was listening to Peace Sells by Megadeth....and the pinch Harmonics by Zakk Wylde and the band Primal Fear!!!!. Those Pinch Harmonics drove me crazy ❤️ Thanks 🙏🏼

Thanks for the lesson! My neighbors are really gonna love this once I get it under my fingers😎
😂
Also it works best with humbuckers and especially the bridge pickup. The neck/bass pickups seems to cut those frequencies.
Thanks, Steve!😊I have had a few goes at it over the years, but never thought that I had it right? Perseverance is the key and the right technique.

Amazing as always Steve, Thank you so much.
This is a great lesson! Thanks Steve!!
Excellent! Thanks for this lesson Steve. Love your playing. 😍😻🎸👍🏼
Just got my charvel dk24 and playing some Van Halen but could not do this. Right on time. Thanks
Great teacher.👍
No way! I'm trying to learn this right now! I mean, I can play it, but not consistently. I get it right maybe 1 out of 5 times. I'll try Steve's tips.
Thank you sir
What pick gauge is best, I use .06, the EVH ones with the grippy nubs on both sides. They make good scraping sounds, better than thick ones anyway.
John Sikes is one of the Masters in pinch harmonics
Gotta love the active emg's
My favorite guitar accent.

Steve, how do you walk pass a guitar store without buying one?
You don't!
You look just like Stevie Richards
