I have been on the faculty of Harvard for 18 years, and my area of work (research, teaching, consulting/advising) is negotiation. This clip is part of a series of videos I will be posting on the topic of negotiation. Each video tends to be about 3-5 minutes long, and covers one insight, principle or tactic that will hopefully help you negotiate more effectively at work and in life. All videos from this playlist can be found at www.NegotiatingTheImpossible.com. Please feel free to share this video/series in your various networks. Hopefully, we can create a lot of value together.

Many times we have to talk front end people before we get a chance to talk to the decision maker. Great reminder, to make them the Ambassador of our message!

It's a blessing to learn from your videos tips, Professor, This is an excellent piece of advice to ensure that the ambassador understands our key message. The only add to it from my view is that its also important that we understand this person's counter point from the nego and offer him solutions/options to defend it with the decision maker. Net, I would end with two key points : 1) Ambassador understands and communicate my message effectively; & 2) Understand my counter-point to his message/nego plan.
