Thanks for the feedback David 😊 - glad you enjoyed it and yes, I've almost finished editing part 3. My idea for part 3 though, was to portray what it was actually like - in sight and sound, and without any interference from myself... I've seen some narrowboat vloggers do occasional videos like that - and I don't expect it would be to everyone's taste, but that's what I was thinking of doing. That said, I'll have a think about the guitar - you'll have to wait and see though, I'm making no promises! Even if I don't use it this time, I'm getting myself and the guitar ready to deliver another 'virtuoso performance' before long...
Hi David! Thank you very much! If my memory is correct, I think we took 2 (quite longish) days - but that was in April and you might take longer in middle of summer. The aqueduct at Pontcysyllte is a major factor in how fast you get onto the last section into Llangollen. It's one-way only and you can be waiting for some time until you can see the opposite end is clear for you to proceed. Boats tend to cross in seemingly endless convoys! I imagine its chaos at busy times! Also, the 'narrows' on approach to Llangollen and just before the basin, can mean you are stuck for a while waiting for it to be clear. So my advice would be to crack on, fairly early in the morning if you were doing the section from aqueduct into the basin!
I suppose time and the want to save money, but still, it would have been good for the farmer to have layed the thinning hedge, rather than just hacking the top off. But in the end it’s a shortsighted saving. An owner flails or lops of the hedge top and they’re into the same routine every year. But if you lay the hedge, you not only gain more privacy in future years; but money & time wise, you don’t need to do it again for 8-15 years. Plus, as a layed hedge, it would be great for nesting birds, many bugs, a highway for small mammals, invertebrates and a safe resting place for many a moth. But a lopped hedge, is just a need to buy more Rylock and posts.

However great footage of the journey to Llangollen i love this part of N,Wales always have done spent many days and weeks in and around Llangollen such a beautiful place and if you have the weather its even better 😊 Thanks for the info and footage great Vlog. Hi John - actually I don't. This was a hire boat, that we hired from ABC. The Happy Wren she was called and very nice too. We've hired several times and previously did the first half of the Llangollen too. As you say, its such pretty countryside. I plan on taking Gladys on there, although not in the middle of summer as it gets very busy on there then As long as she's delivered before September (keep everything crossed - I'm counting no chickens ), then perhaps get onto Llangollen in the autumn👍😊
