    This was my second 70mm edf. It has to be my favorite model. This jet is very forgiving for beginners with as3x. I wish they made an 80-90mm version of this jet.

      FMS does make a 80mm which is the same one as the Eflite. The FMS version isn't sold on there site but can be bought through a China website

      @@Mikeylikesit1968 That one seems to be an older FA-18 variant while this one is the Super Hornet. I’d still try to get my hands on the current fms 80mm or maybe the FW 90mm

    INVERTED? YESSIREE! Two days ago, at our Tri-Cities Water Follies airshow, WA State, the F-35 Lightning pilot did an inverted pass, ALL fighter jets ARE designed to do this, and it IS very cool, and most (not all) rc planes look cool when they do this. My J-3 cub doesn't like it, but still does it.😁

    Nice Jon, I maidened one for a buddy. It flew really well. I didn't find it hard to land, but we had the CG forward of where you're flying it. Nice little Hornet for sure!

    My Freewing 4S F-18 and F-22 have full rotating elevator stabs. They fly great in all the videos I've seen. I have yet to fly mine.

    I bought mine when it was first released and have loved it! It takes off and lands much better than the Eflite F-18 (80MM) Plus, I think it flys better too!

    Nice commentary - it's one my personal favorites and yes it did bite very hard once. I have installed the Jolly Rodgers livery from Callie Graphics.

    Great vid. For my narrow wheelbase landing gear jets like f16/f18? Asanti AG61 nose gyro has been godsend for straight/direct takeoff/landings and minimizing wingtip to ground impact. It also shuts off in air/when gear is retracted.
    If nosewheel gyro not an option, LOTS of rudder expo also helps.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're 100% right, lots of rudder expo is your friend. We should have covered that, so it's appreciated that you brought it up in the comments. What you can do to make it easier to handle is use your gear switch as your rate control, and set it up so that you've got a lot of expo on the rudder with gear down.

    I put some softer wheels on mine, think it was dubro light weights they are alot softer and it helped alot, still a little rough with the 30c 5000mah smart pack but can take the misdletips off the wings to lighting it up. But it does splendid with Liperier 65c 3300 packs. I get about 4min 30 sec hard flying and 5mins on a slow flight. The smart pack gives me 530 to 6mins but those smart batteries are Heavy and cause bounce

    Why does FMS insist on selling the main landing gear sets as a pair and not separately left or right as a set or as separate struts? They do offer retracts but not strut sets individually. That has kept me from buying most FMS aircraft that have retracts. This is such a beautiful aircraft I hate to pass on it. But I vote with my wallet when it comes to being able to buy spare parts I need, not spare parts I don't need!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not uncommon for them to be sold in pairs.

    • @hifinsword
      @hifinsword 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TwoBrosRC It's only common with FMS and maybe 1 other manufacturer. It's much more common to find separate struts with or without wheels, and complete sets as singles, not pairs.

    The F18 has a fairly high aspect ratio for its wings. That along with the leading edge root extensions make it very forgiving in all conditions

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Except at the CG we're using, which makes it pretty unstable at stall recovery - but the fixed stabs make it a little easier to pull out of it.

    How would you compare this jet to the eflite 90mm viper with regards to stability and ease of keeping it under control ?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Viper is more stable at lower speeds (up until you introduce a constant bank angle into the equation. Then you're more likely to enter a spin. Overall though, the Viper is definitely a better platform.

  • @troy551000
    @troy551000 ปีที่แล้ว

    The freewing 64mm f18 has full stabs n I found it a nightmare to fly at first. Handlaunching it isn't easy as its underpowered . It stalls so easy .

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Jon! Great video! Besides the cobra maneuverable, how is this model compared for the FW f-18 90mm? Is it more predictable and stable?
    My F-18 90mm for me is by far the most challenging jet to fly and land. It stalls like crazy in slow speed. I’ve learned a lot from it, also using your great tips!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely more stable than the Freewing 90, but nowhere near as agile.

    I disagree with the bit about landing. This jet is easy to land, I've never had it rock like the video. The problem is your runway. It sucks. As far as high alpha, it does it very well.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're absolutely welcome to disagree! Our runway is absolutely fine - we land a variety of aircraft on it without issue. The runway doesn't make an airplane tip over easily. The design of the airplane does.
