TenTen is a great Hu Tao player just needs to work on awareness, spacing, cooldown management, flicks, positioning, rotations, timings, damage estimation, double dashing, dodging, damage phases, energy management, stamina management, jump canceling, dash canceling, auto weaving, energy funneling, shielding, and healing
can u reposition hu tao by inputing a direction during jump right after a charged atk tho? I always seems to be unable to jump opposite to the direction of hu tao's CA and will jump forward and further away from the enemy ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
One thing that isn't mentioned here(or I just probably missed it) is for the dash cancel you need to dash to the opposite direction of your CA if you're against an enemy that the CA will go through. If you dash to the same direction as her CA you will overshoot the enemy and will miss the next CAs. Sometimes you also need to face to the enemy manually so after dashing backwards(if you CA forward) you need to face forward again before the next CA. You can see it in 5:13, set the playback speed to 0.5, After he CA to the left, he dashes to the right to cancel the CA then moves to the left again to face the enemy. So you need to press 2 to 3 buttons for dash cancel(dash+opposite direction then face the enemy again, basically you also need cancel the dash, cancelception lol) while on jump cancel, only 1, the jump button. I'm not saying that the jump cancel is better, its just the dash cancel is more technical than jump so I'm not sure if "Easier to perform" is really a pros to the dash cancel.
Finally someone mention dash cd, a lot of people just straight up ignore the fact that if dash cancel too fast make you can't dash the third time (actually none of Hu Tao guides I've seen talk about it, only notice when I played Hu Tao a lot). Therefore jump cancel every 2 dashes still recommended even if C1 Hu Tao.
Really thorough guide! I was thinking about when to jump cancel all wrong bc ppl just said 'jump cancel' in guides without giving advice re:the timing. Thanks!
One thing to add to the dash cooldown rotation: N1CD still works if you do a jump cancel for every third charge it's slightly less optimal but much easier if you struggle As for team comps,Rosaria is highly underated and overlooked as a 4th flex slot for hu tao she provides extra melt/freeze without messing up the reactions and decent burst dmg+great uptime at c2 whilst giving a fair amount of crit rate to hu tao
As old Hu Tao player, I always play with simple way. Zhongli shield, Xingqiu Ult, Hu Tao charge jump cancel 5 times and ult. After her skill is empty, go to Zhongli again. I'm pretty bad at playing this game so I use what simple in my mind. Thanks for the tutorial TenTen. Edit: Maybe I switch Zhongli with Thouma for resonance.
@lamatak bertemu the pyro resonance may not be as good as the res shred from zhongli's shield. since hu tao has a very low base atk, the pyro resonance will only add 25% from that, it will not even enhance the atk bonus from her E. this is why atk% is not good for character with low base atk and only the characters with high base atk can make good use out of atk% bonuses. this is also the reason why using atk% sands for hu tao is not viable
Thank you for the video TenTen! The woosh demonstration for cancel timing was extremely useful! I haven't seen it in any other guides so it's very helpful! ^^
Very informative TenTen. Happy to learn about the hit lag extension lol. I feel like I am always in a rush whenever I use her E. Also, I love it that we didnt feel the need to mention VV set on Sucrose for the resistance shred lol.
One thing I want to mention from my experience of playing Tao double geo: you probably want to change your rotation a bit: start with xq e+q, then switch to Albedo and place his e, then to zhong and cast his shield without moving an inch so his colum breaks by getting placed on albedo flower, then albedo q and finally switch to Tao. This is borderline necessary because Albedo steals vapes enough as it is, paring him with zhong's dong is just too much of losing vapes. Also, even if you don't do N2C and prefer N1C, at least start with N2C so your Xq's swords would have time to get to the target and reapply the hydro aura your tao normal attack and albedo e flower got rid of.
Level 90 Hu Tao with R1 Deathmatch, level 10/9/9 talents with XQ, Albedo and ZL 45K Vape Charged Attack damage. Is that worth leveling Hu Tao for or is that damage bad for her standards? She's still at level 1 but this is calculated damage with those talents and the artifact sets I have.
sucrose will be really good with this upcoming hutao comp this team can fully utilize sucrose elemental mastery buff also, u can use a thrilling tale on sucrose to add up a big damage buff for xingqui 🥴

Been playing Hu Tao since her release as my only pyro carry, watched so many videos on her and literally had no idea bout the hit lag extending her E duration and using the hit lag to guarantee the Q getting boosted. Thank you so much lol I feel so silly.
Something I’ve wondered is if Diona’s shield and it’s stamina reduction makes Dash Canceling on C0 Hu Tao anywhere near viable or worth slotting in on Hu Tao’s team.
its not enough but u can probably fit in 1 N1CD to the a 8n2cj combo or allows u too do the 8n2cj easily. Note that u wont be using diona on comps that does n2cj but in comps that does N1CJ (Vape/melt) also same thing here might give u 1 more CA or just improve on how u achieve ur current max number of CA that u can do. I dont recco diona on any freezemelt team she's very sub par ( this is an opinion it varies and Idk how good u are).
@@hmmmtao6911 I don’t even have Hu Tao (yet). I was just curious because of the C1 vs Homa debate and how Diona can maybe help in dash canceling at C0. I appreciate the detailed answer though. I’ll keep it in mind.
Still not enough, based on my experience you still need C1 to get access into dash cancel. But it can save your stamina and make hu tao still have stamina at the end of her E duration with N1C combo.

the best char design (not in terms of looks) for me. when she first came out having that hp scaling and hp loss, i tot she was gonna be wonky. shes by far my favourite char
the ideal jump cancel timing is 0.3s on flat ground(0.4s if you want abit of range). believe it or not, u can get down to dash cancel level if u can find a slope to push into(not really useful knowledge if u are in a domain). also if u jump cancel down a slope, you will be F cause it would take 0.7s for your character to land before u can charge again, u can't charge while u are not on the ground. there is actually alot more complicated stuff to playing hu tao well, i know the normal attack charge jump is "recommended" but really learn the charge dash first even if you are C0. because it is important to understand her stamina. it will come naturally to u to mix the different attack if you allow yourself to learn her by experience than trying to play her like a robot. as the video state, hu tao has very high spike damage to which dash cancel is worth it especially for boss with a few second attack window. lastly these are all about her E... Hu Tao Q is very painful, sometime i just bring her into abyss just to whack thing with her ghost. it reliable and easy. always get the Q into the attack window and you will be happy ghost... =)

I would assume it's for energy generation. Typically your E is what generates particles, so depending on how much ER you have you might need to go Q -> E to have it back up for your next rotation.
@@RoonoDeer Sure. That makes sense for Xingqiu. I'm talking about the Albedo or Ningguang on the team. @@jayleno2192 For whom? If you're doing Q->E, the energy would go to the next character which is Hu Tao. But often times, you don't want to be using the Burst immediately as it will bring you above the 71.43% threshold where when you use the next E on Hu Tao, she'll be above 50% HP. So, you don't need 100% uptime on her burst available. In addition, specifically for Albedo, his E on cast doesn't create any particles, so it won't matter when you place his E for Energy generation. This kind of guide is your forte. Exactly what I'm looking for. (y) Just wondering, for the team rotation part, how will this team perform in comparison: Hu Tao, Zhongli/Thoma, Rosaria/Diona, Ganyu. Will the melt synergy work well with the ICD?
For Hutao comp, Xingqiu is by far the best option so you would want him with hutao. The other 2 slots you can put either zhongli albedo for double geo, Diona Kaeya for melt or Fischl Beidou for Overvape.
From my own experience, i can rarely melt hu tao's charged attack with melt comp (rosaria diona) because the one who trigger the melt usually the N1 before charged attack. But it's not that bad actually because i almost always melt my burst for those big numbers. I don't use this team anymore because i use R5 dragonsbane now so i prefer to use double geo hu tao (i used to use black tassel on her for 6 month sadge)
Nope, hu tao need xingqiu for melt + vap team, xingqiu will prevent reverse melt on hu tao team and make her CA at least can get vap if you failed to melt because her N1. The best team for melt tao currently is tao, xingqiu, kaeya, and diona.
hands down, hutao is the most complex yet flexible to use and to build so either one of those, hutao will always be on hot topic regarding mechanical plays or build good luck on you all having her, im also planning to get crimson witch coz now I use shimenawa just as reference
What I don't understand for Hu Tao is her charged attacks. For just general use in the open world and questing, is it really necessary to keep using her charged attacks on enemies? Couldn't I just use her skill normally?
Hey TenTen I came back to this video to thank you, I wasn't really sure If going for C1 was worth it, but when you made me notice that the dash cancel mechanic has a cooldown the decision was made. I think Genshin Impact would be a way more enjoyable game if it wasn't for the cooldowns, ICD on this, ICD on that, it's really annoying, for me it ruins the experience. Well that's it, great video, keep up the good work
for mobile player don't get discourage ! The jump cancel is gonna be easier to do the more you practice (ofcourse) and it's VERY VERY satisfying if you able to do all the combo's perfectly. i know playing on mobile is hard for some people, but for those who wanna minmax their hutao gameplay to the max, You absolutely got this !😉
The jump-cancel mechanic in mobile is very hard to achieve considering how the other finger will lock on the movement button. For mobile player it is most likely that we would not remove our finger off of the screen. Believe me or not this actually have a very big impact on her performance. Still, it is achievable but surely it gonna be very hard to practice this.
takes a lot of practice if u wanna do it (for players that are not familiar with this kind of layout or inexperience players). tho, this type of opinion might vary. I've been on groups who are dedicated players so they would have some biased opinions. Anyways, if u wanna keep playing Tao its a great reward in finally seeing some smooth execution of combos and rot.
One additional fact one need to consider is the 4 piece shimenawa decreases the frequency of your burst, which heals you. This would be more important if you don't have Zhongli, or if you are fighting the new bleeding enemies.
After playing 4shimenawa, I really recommend it. I don’t even have problems with getting my ult up (126% ER). And if you have Raiden as a battery she’ll allow you to have the set buff even more
Yes she is hard to play efficiently on mobile, especially at C0, but C1 really helps making her much more mobile friendly. However, on a more casual point of view, even not played optimaly, she will still dish out enough damage and fun as long as she has a decent team and gear, so no need to feel pressure on getting that C1 ;)
Is dendro lumine, hutao, Xingqiu and keqing a good team? I use hu tao as DPS, Xingqiu or diona and lumine as supports and keqing for exploration and also cause I like playing her, and I sometimes use diona as shielder and healer
Is jump-cancel really increases output dmg? I always end up doing 9 charged attacks, regardless of doing anim-cancels or not. Edit: Okay, in actual combat it's less, around 7-8 CA, and seems it's easier to perform them with jumps... however, it's still possible to reach that 8 hits "cap" without jumping. Pros for that is you are less likely to be hit.

Just wondering, for the team rotation part, how will this team perform in comparison: Hu Tao, Zhongli/Thoma, Rosaria/Diona, Ganyu.
The best team for melt tao currently is tao, xingqiu, kaeya, and diona.
replace rosaria/diona with mona and it should work. Hydrosam has a video clearing abyss with that team.
OHH I was wondering why I couldnt sometimes do a dash cancel! This guide was really helpful thank you Tenten
I was very lucky to get C1 Hu Tao in 18 pulls during her first banner and I never knew that I could be dash cancelling too fast on her! Good to know.
im still practising childe rotation but yeah, i need this :'D, others keep saying jump cancel here and there but not thoroughly show properly :'D
Amazing video and great explanations! This helps a ton, thanks man!
Damn, I’ve had her since March and I’m learning new tech. Thanks TenTen.
hands down, hutao is the most complex yet flexible to use and to build
so either one of those, hutao will always be on hot topic regarding mechanical plays or build
good luck on you all having her, im also planning to get crimson witch coz now I use shimenawa just as reference
What I don't understand for Hu Tao is her charged attacks. For just general use in the open world and questing, is it really necessary to keep using her charged attacks on enemies? Couldn't I just use her skill normally?
Plss you are the last person who should make a “noob to pro” hutao vid
hutao came home finally. took me the chibi zombie to get her. thank you for this guide. imma practice hella out ma way for my hutao
this is very helpful for those hu tao wisher before the banner comes out :D
Immediately triple crowned her the moment i got her, this video is useful as a new hu tao main
My best comp for her is with XQ and double geo (zhongli and albedo), and jump cancel is actually possible on mobile *THE HARD WAY*
oh god I tried it on mobile and it felt like I need more fingers to do it 😂😂
@@alyanadrua4153 this is why I don’t regret pulling Yoimiya, I just spam normal attack button and I kill everything, ez mobile gameplay haha
@@alyanadrua4153 it's basically like playing PUBG or CoDM if you're getting serious on your ranks😂
Thanks for such a detailed guide!
Well that's it, great video, keep up the good work
I like min maxing got lucky getting c1 and homa, this guide is very through keep it up!!
Every Tenten video: Xingqiu, Bennett, Xiangling on repeat
I really liked Hu Tao's play style and I just got her. Time to train
im probably a huge dumbass but at first i didn' realize you had to let go of the arrow key to perform the jump cancel properly lol
for mobile player don't get discourage ! The jump cancel is gonna be easier to do the more you practice (ofcourse) and it's VERY VERY satisfying if you able to do all the combo's perfectly.
i know playing on mobile is hard for some people, but for those who wanna minmax their hutao gameplay to the max, You absolutely got this !😉
watching this because i got my hutao at 75th draw and you know what, I got another one 5 draws after the first one :)
A very helpful guide, thanks a lot!
This would be more important if you don't have Zhongli, or if you are fighting the new bleeding enemies.
this video is awesome, would love to see this type of video on other chars.
Love these noob to pro videos
6:08 so the dash has cooldown? That's good to know. I thought it's just because I suck at doing it lol.
After playing 4shimenawa, I really recommend it.
I don’t even have problems with getting my ult up (126% ER). And if you have Raiden as a battery she’ll allow you to have the set buff even more
11:29
My xiao with the staff of homa : The hardest choices require the strongest wills
another really good video,thanks!!
Playing hu tao on mobile is kinda hard, but I'm willing to learn because she's the character I really want for so long 😄
Yes she is hard to play efficiently on mobile, especially at C0, but C1 really helps making her much more mobile friendly.
However, on a more casual point of view, even not played optimaly, she will still dish out enough damage and fun as long as she has a decent team and gear, so no need to feel pressure on getting that C1 ;)
even tenten can dash cancel. don't worry just pull her.
Tenten could you upload more genshi championships with ur commentary
Thus video was really helpful. Thanks!!
tenten: hu tao is mechanically skill locked
also tenten: plays hu tao
:^)
I’ve never seen a rosaria die so much until today. Thank you for that.
"Hu Tao is the most mechanically complicated character" man who has never played Klee
Idk man i just put zhongli shield and go crazy.
True Klee is harder to play as having both of those
Dude you cant imagine how much today will mean for me, i didnt wish on any event banner since like january, i didnt have primos for Ganyu and missed the Hu Tao banner also. Have almost 60k f2p primos saved up for both of them, and im like 30 wishes before guaranteed pity. C1 Tao will come home today, as will Ganyu on her rerun. I dont have Sayu and obv Thoma, so thats a bonus, cant wait to instead get C20 Diona :D Have all the mats to triple crown both queens immidietly, and amazing artifact sets. And no, im not going for Homa tho i could, the 20-30% dmg increase over R5 Dragons Bane is not worth imo instead of a new character or the amazing quality of life that C1 brings. For all you Hu Tao wanters i wish you good luck, may she come early and twice in the same 10 pull :P
Smart choice n I think r5 dragons bane is even closer than 20% difference than homa
@@MRJonFOXY Dude i screwed up, in 80 pulls i got C1 Hu Tao and Keqing, the only standard 5 star i didnt have, said screw it lets try 1 pity on weapon banner, i have Venti so Elegy isnt as bad. Got Homa after 6 multis :D Got a couple of standard fates from upgrading characters and the 5 from shop, got Wolfs Gravestone from standard banner, was close to pity on it, so my Diluc has a good weapon at last. Still 36k primos for Ganyu, so im very happy :) I still say that weapon banner is a bad idea for f2p tho :P
I used dash cancel with Barbara reducing stamina consumption and it helps quite a bit
Edit: it's not enough for all to be dash cancel but enough for me to dash cancel a few of my attacks
Interesting. Can't wait to try her (in my friend account of course)
My connection on local servers: 3ms ping.
Farthest server in the country: 8ms ping.
Closest Genshin Server: 150ms.
Pain peko.
Why can't they have more servers?!
wait doesn't it also mean you need to restart your game progress.
Great guide, thank you.
Just spent my hard earned 25k primos... Staff of Homa and C3 Hu Tao. Also c2 toma, Elegy, c1 diluc and c1 Mona... Worth it 😂
Tf?
the fact that a simple animation cancel is considered the most difficult mechanic in genshin says alot about how easy the game is lol
Ikr 😂
I mean this is a casual game afterall.
Oh man, imagine if genshin have devil may cry, bayonetta, or sekiro level of combo, many GI players will melt their brain xD
@@groudon3524 I just find it funny how people who drop thousands of money and hours on the game struggle
Eventho i got a C1 Hutao on 3.4, I only perform 8 N1CD for average. Sometimes 10 N1CD and never more than it. I use PC to play Genshin. After knowing that it's possible to 12x, Im gonna train more to get it.
Lovin it! People should be aware your a TC and our window into chinese news/highlights, not "the best player ever".
Yes the best player is Tony to /s
Hit lag extension and dash cooldown are new to me. That explain why my dash cancel sometimes failed
Noob to Pro guides are exactly whats missing
I use the same team comp as shown in your video (HuTao, Xingqiu, Xiangling and Zhongli) and use Lithic r5 on zhongli and lithic r2 on Xiangling, this team has been carrying me to abyss
As someone who recently got a team comp to be able to farm lvl 90 Crimson Witch Domain, you're right its annoying to farm.
i've never been so lucky on a banner, got 4 thoma, 4 sayu, 1 diona (C6), got sac sword, and got hu tao on the very last fate i got (77th).
🤤🦖
Yes another hard to master character specialty, just like most of 5* character. Pretty good tbh i like it.
NOW THIS IS GOOD CONTENT
I like doing Dash cancel (c0) only when I'm fighting 1 ruin guard/hunter/grader because I it's pretty fast way to kill them.
If I do get c1 tho; spam dash cancel all the way.
spamming charge attack > dashcancel isn't unrealistic in the slightest bruh. stamina doesn't matter in the slightest when you just kill everyone quick. Mostly enemies that are vulnerable for little time like hydro hypostatis or other hypostatis or fatui shield enemies. Or just any enemy you want to kill fast, sometimes it's better to kill fast.
Btw i think u mean hyper carry not hybrid carry
Tenten is there any visual indicator for the N2CJ?
For N1CJ its the flash on her first attack. I really have a hard time hearing shit. Not really deaf but I have a weak hearing.
For ppl who mastered klee mechanics hutao is a piece of cake that doesnt need any teachings
me, a Klee main: Ah shit, here we go again
but i love characters that are difficult to play rather than someone simple like diluc or ganyu! can’t wait to main hu tao
Best Hu Tao video
So funny watching this after the abyss stream KEKL
My Hutao is dead all the time. Does that count as staying under 50% HP??
damn I never thought of putting xingqiu first before casting zhongli shield, I always end up with no shield and leftover rainswords at the end of hu tao duration
When the new sword and the new set made for albedo releases, hutao 2 geo will dominate the meta again
