The most underrated band ever. A no nonsense band solely with the purpose of entertainment. I saw them several times in the late 70’s and each time they blew me away. Parents is definitely my fav song of all time!

Pojechałem kiedyś na koncert Budgie w Warszawie na Torwarze przejechałem ponad 400 Km, miałem wtedy 19 lat. Kosztowało mnie to moją miesięczną wypłatę i nie żałuję tego. Piękne wspomnienie..
Eugeniusz Kluczyński chyba przesada trochę z tą ceną za bilet bo chodzi pewnie o koncert w 1982 lub 1984 ,to była naprawdę gwiazda na te lata ,ale te bilety znów nie były tak drogie ,ja bylem wtedy w Katowicach w Spodku ,to był mój najlepszy koncert życia na tamte czasy ,grupa ma taki styl muzy który jest nie powtarzalny ,te riffy ,to majstersztyki pomysłów,słucham ich do tej pory jadąc w samochodzie ,byłem jeszcze raz w 2004 w Krakowie ,z którego nagrałem film godzinny ,jest to film jeden z nielicznych jakie zostały nagrane przez amatorów,dziwię się że nigdy nie wydali żadnego wideo

Ja byłem w 2008 albo w 2009 we Wrocławiu, Craig Goldy grał na gitarze. Rozpierdol był na maksa. Teraz już go nie ma z nami.

Great band with Goldie and with Lees earlier on the guitars...I love the sentence about islam - enjoy Poland- you are in right place, John -as much as we all have enjoyed Budgie for so many years!!! This is the first time I’ve seen this interview, very insightful, learned quite a few things, I didn’t know, Black velvet stallion was written in the studio, I love that track.
I agree with Burke about litter everywhere on the streets in Britain, take away left overs, containers and packaging thrown out of cars.
Also the comment about Islam being everywhere in Cardiff! Certain areas feel so unwelcoming and hostile from how Cardiff was 30 to 40 years ago! Those guys that left to join isis that were on the news, were from Cardiff....makes me wonder what’s going on behind closed doors, and what the future holds!
Burke thought Poland was a great country, sounds like its a good place to be.
I've known of Budgie for many years, but only very recently decided to listen to their music. Good, honest, talented rock band. As many people have said, they should have had more success than they actually achieved. This was a nice interview with the late Burke Shelley. RIP

Burke Shelley, genius musician- frequently says the most offensive thing that comes to mind when people point a camera at him and ask him questions. I think he's trying to be funny, but this is a theme with his interviews.
I was fortunate to see Budgie live at a small up close venue (so close that we were stood right next to the band & i shook Burke's hand a few times) there was no stage so we were all on the same level which is strange but great & intimate.
The gig was October 9, 1981 at the Mayfair club, Burslem, Stoke-On-Trent ENGLAND

Świetny muzyk i człowiek o zdrowych poglądach. Niewielu takich w tym artystycznym światku. Poza tym wypowiadał się bardzo krytycznie na temat co się dzieje obecnie w UK i miał rację.
Ciepły, prostolinijny, bez śladu gwiazdorstwa człowiek, bardzo dobrze traktujący swojego młodego rozmówcę. Dziennikarz: zadający przemyslane, trafne pytania, taktowny, czekający cierpliwie na wybrzmienie odpowiedzi. Tylko proszę o poprawienie tłumaczenia rozmowy, usunięcie literówek czy błędów ortograficznych. Szkoda, że ta rozmowa nie trwała dłużej, można by zapytać szerzej o muzyke - czego słucha, co ceni, również z innych gatunków muzycznych, itd.. Na przyszłosc można by też zbliżyć kamerę do twarzy, by zobaczyć mimikę, język ciała J.B.S.

Niestety: mnóstwo literówek w napisach i nie oddają nawet połowy tego, co Burke powiedział, a gdzieniegdzie zmieniają sens jego wypowiedzi, choćby zaraz na początku: "Gdy przyjechaliśmy tutaj po raz pierwszy, Polska była zbyt zamożnym krajem." Ktoś te napisy w ogóle czytał, zanim zostały dodane? :-P

Duża przyjemność słuchać Burke'a i przy okazji szacun dla Marcina. Jak pierwsze pytanie zobaczyłem to myślałem, że będzie wtopa, ale dziennikarz ewidentnie był przygotowany i mocno w temacie. Tylko te napisy słabe.

They were great players. They all knew their instruments. How can he say that, modest? Burke Shelley was master of base. He could not sing great but his voice had an untangable appeal to it. Hendrix could not sing and Dillon forget it.

well my family were hindu a couple generations ago but personally i dont go for religion man its divisive and people start killing each other over "god"! which personally i think is bollocks. im into music peace & love and thats my religion man. anyway i saw budgie when i was 18 at reading in '81 along with gillan,the kinks trust steve hackett 9 below zero girlschool wishbone ash and a bunch of others i cant remember now its was brilliant . shame we dont really have the same vibes anymore for kids man. we had it better in those days eh

Nie bedzie zadnej 'przyszlosci' Budgie - co Ty nie wiesz ??? Po operacji w Polsce dobrych kilka lat temu Shelley nie jest w stanie grac na basie I spiewac w tym samym czasie. Zespol na zawsze juz ZAKONCZYL swoja dzialalnosc. Jesli nie widziales na zywo ostatniego skladu z Goldie'm na gitarze - twoja wielka strata niestety.
Dobrze wiem o operacji. Wiem również, że wiele było przypadków w historii, że muzyk po ciężkiej chorobie (czy operacji) miał nie wracać do grania, ale jednak po kilku-kilkunastu latach okazywało się, że da radę (żeby nie szukać daleko - Andy Latimer z zespołu Camel). W moim pytaniu była po prostu wielka ciekawość, czy nic się nie zmieniło, w końcu medycyna ciągle idzie do przodu. Składu z Goldiem nie widziałem, miałem przyjemność oglądać gig, gdzie wiosło obsługiwał Simon Lees.
Simon byl niesamowity rowniez ! kapitalny muzyk, kapitalny....Latimer- tak, widac powietrze Kalifornijskie mu sluzy, gdyz zespol wraca na trasy w przyszlym roku. Bedzie wystepowal w Europie - nie wiem czy w Polsce rowniez. Powrot Shelleya jest niestety przesadzony na nie. Z jednej strony choroba a z drugiej ...sama niechec muzyka do powrotu na trasy. O tym wiem na pewno z pierwszych ust. No, chyba ze cos sie zmieni. Do zeszlego roku mogles ogladac jamy z jego udzialem w Walijskim pubie w Cardiff - malej rangi, spontaniczne raczej wydarzenia dla niewielkiej, lokalnej publicznosci. Teraz juz nawet tutaj nie wystepuje. Mysle, ze zasluzyl sobie na odpoczynek ponadto... :) Gosc w kwietniu bedzie mial 68 lat zycia ukonczone. Juz chyba raczej szybciej Hendrixa na scenie zobaczysz niz Budgie, ale trzymac kciuki zawsze warto!
Kciuki trzymam cały czas, w końcu Budgie to jeden z moich ukochanych zespołów :) Mam nadzieję, że Shelley zacznie wydawać jakieś płytki z archiwami. Ciągle ukazują się bootlegi fanklubowe, ale Burke na pewno ma jeszcze jakieś fajne muzyczne kąski z przeszłości w swoich szufladach. Co do Camel, będą 2 występu w Polsce w przyszłym roku, bilet na Warszawski już mam :)
Miejmy nadzieje. Sam bardzo bylbym zainteresowany kupieniem nagran 'live' z Goldim lub Leesem. Na prawde bardzo. W poprzednich skladach sporo tego jest, nawet na YT.... ale niewiele z ostatnich lat. Teraz zaluje, ze nigdy nie bralem 'Flipa' na wystepy Budgie - moglbym siedziec teraz wygodnie w fotelu I puszczac sobie film z koncertu. Co do innych grup, ktore w przyszlym roku odwiedza Polske - na kilka koncertow przyjedzie King Crimson. Choc nie jest to moj ulubiony sklad - nie znosze Jakszyka- to Fripp jest nadal w znakomitej formie!!!

Jako idealny przykład z historii kłania się bitwa pod Poitiers w 732 roku. Można sobie poczytać przyczyny itd, itd. No i oczywiście kto wygrał rzecz jasna. Dzisiaj nie musi być żadnych bitew, wojen bo po co jak można grzecznie zaprosić "biednych" uchodźców. A oni już swoje zrobią od środka, z czasem. Swoje dzielnice gdzie nawet policja nie ma odwagi jechać itd. Wielce nietykalni i biedni, niech zostaną dalej zapraszani w coraz większych ilościach to czas pokaże a historia zatoczy koło znów tylko wtedy nadzieja że zakończy się to jak w 732 roku. Swoja droga śmieszne: w 732 roku bronić się przed ich najazdami, zwyciężyć aby 1300 lat później ich ładnie grzecznie zaprosić, zupełnie inna kulturę która nie asymiluje się, która nie zmieniła się nic przez setki lat bo ich podstawa to religia (w Egipcie mają wpisane w dowód jakiego kto jest wyznania - najgorszy kraj pod względem tolerancji dla innych wyznań 90% to muzuły a 10 to koptowie i dlaczego ta mniejszość tam u nich nie jest szanowana ani nie jest traktowana tak specjalnie jak muzuły w Europie? Czemu tam u siebie nie robią tak jak my jako Europa?)
Shelley słusznie zwraca na to uwagę, za jego młodości tak nie było jak jest teraz kiedy trwa nasza młodość. Tak samo w latach 70. i wcześniej Iran wyglądał zupełnie inaczej pod względem społeczeństwa, chyba do 1979 roku dokładniej. GDYBYŚMY TYLKO MOGLI ZNAĆ PRZYCZYNĘ TEGO CO ZMIENIŁO TEN KRAJ, który nie wiele różnił się od kultury amerykańskiej czy europejskiej. Trzeba znać lub się dowiedzieć jak historia wyglądała a nie jak jest teraz albo było maks 5 lat temu co dla niektórych to chyba szmat czasu i "zawsze".
Proszę skorygować to "z resztą" w kilku miejscach. Powinno być "zresztą", nie "z resztą".

Disappointed in Burke talking about seeing Islam on the streets of Cardiff as a bad thing. Comparisons to Cardiff and Poland with regard to Islam, yes there are more muslims in Cardiff than any city or town in Poland, but that doesn't mean Poland are a more prosperous country because of it. How can you say that in the same context? What a stupid thing to say during interview.
You might want to try to understand where he comes from and when, he grew up in a time when the only people that tried to stuff their religion down your throat were Jehovah's witnesses on your doorstep and Buddhists' at rock concerts, unlike now where our streets are full of angry young men with a shit attitude towards just about everyone who doesn't see things the same way. Just my opinion.
No, I don't see his point of view, at all. Your opinion doesn't make sense in response to being openly Islamaphobic. It was a stupid thing to say, although acceptable in a country which is openly Islamaphobic, a televised bigoted comment is not acceptable, at any age or where you originate from.

I think you should listen to his comment again, read what I have said above and respond, keeping to the context of this argument. You can't absorb racism and say "hey sensitive people, let him say his thing". It is accepted in Poland, but not where I come from fella, and that goes for millions of other English speaking people.
I came here looking for more on the man Burke Shelley and Budgie and discovered a comment that if had been said by an A list celebrity, would have ended their career.
