I cant believe I sat through 25 minutes. I have a lot of shit to do today. But, these are some very interesting guys and the interviewer was quite good. Good stuff. Thank you Sweetwater and Winery Dogs.
It is SO nice to see an interview where everyone is NOT talking over each other.....Thank You!!!! Also, I FULLY understand Richy's creativity coments............creative people create.....music, paintings, decks.........it is all about CREATING! I am the same way.....
I love how Richie emphasizes the feel for the music rather than other tangible aspects such as, or versus style and what's popular. he's obviously matured as a musician and song writer
Just discovered this line up a few days ago. They sound terrific. Been a long time fan of Billy's, not so much about Portnoy, though he's technically great and had never paid muh attention to Ritchie until now. So glad I found this, keeps hope in good new rock bands high.
Man what a great interview. In no way would a normal interviewer of a band ask a question such as: "do you play with flesh or nails?". Mad props! you just earned a new subscriber :)
I love Richie at the end, just checking out the plexi in the corner, then looking at Mitch like - 'whoa!, you just turned on your radio dj voice for that outro bro' .....'that head is huge!' ....'don't smile, don't smile, don't,..man I could go some pizza right now..' I couldn't help but laugh at that Richie :) ..(no offense intended Mitch of course, awesome interview! keep them coming)
My musical culture is from another planet but since i've discovered Kotzen and Sheehan in action I feel I've started an inter-galactic tour .These Guys are Great with Incredible Musicianship ,creativity and virtuosity . They are a unique Twin somewhere .
Richie is absolutely correct that you have to live your life creatively & in a productive manner in order to be re-inspired to write again. I luv that he built his own deck. I really admire him 🥰
Richie does look really tired, but this is at the end of their tour so I wouldn't blame him. Also I think he zones out a bit as well, you can see it when he's playing as well, he gets lost in thought regardless of whats going on around him.
Gallagher is great, and I just love listening to Sheehan talk. He could describe the flight patters of a fly as he is looking at it and I'd still love it. Richie says some pretty interesting stuff too but he looks like he is in another planet haha. Great stuff nevertheless.
Definitely an interview that offers a lot of great pick-up info from two giants in the art world of music and song making. I see alot of comments here seem to dwell on Richie's facial movements and his general appearance! What gives? He is who he is. Which is great!!! Will see TWD in Columbus in two months and cannot wait.
Great interview! I was thinking.. not sure if I have a 25 minute attention span right now but I'll see where this goes, dunno what happened to my time but the video is finished. I could listen to these guys ramble on about their music all day. xD
I've listened to some of Kotzen's work, can't say that I'm a big fan though. I know he's replaced some guitarists in bands like poison and mr.big .. but, is this the first time that he is one of the original lineup?
Alex Bartha yeah I know he's done pretty of solo work. by "original line-up", I meant "in a band" where he's one of co-founders. something like that ;)
A. Nilla-or Don't know if you found out what you wanted to know, but if you haven't you should check out Vertù (fusion/jazz band) or Forty Deuce (straight up rock), those are some line-ups where Richie was a former member. Maybe also his first band, Arthur's Museum... ?
So ..I take it ...Sweetwater...doesn't sell Yamaha ? I know we all know the "Attitude" bass really well but I think that's funny when in rundowns and interviews certain products that are huge in a player's rig are "not mentioned on purpose " . gotta love the corporate world... otherwise great interview ! Love those guys.
Monte Montgomery uses no pick. The guy's a wizard. If you arent familiar with Monte, pull him up on TH-cam. Incredible, and a pretty good vocalist also.
Kōji Kabuto Man, Billy sings a lot.. Check out his version of "Oh well" from Peter Green's tribute, or pick somo of his soloist albums, "Compression", "Cosmic Troubadour" and "Holy cow!".. Here on TH-cam you can listen all of it..
Despite of his mates; Richie is a living soul; (like Axl Rose) no one that has worked with him AFAIN has the talent and passion he has. If he left his beard grow; so what? (This is why you think he´s old and and tired, but it´s only a mirage); he always was that calm, and had this expressions on his face; he´s the same as always; but he´s -in love- now; (he talks about how he feels love in almost all his works) then; he can let him be himself a little bit more ´cause this Brazilian babe, and the hammering band he has now; whit his long-friend Sheehan. Portnoy is only an acquaintance. You give him a breath... I´ll make a prayer for all... he´s a son of God. Peace.
Nice, Kotzen came over from the dark side into the light, forget about those stupid pointy guitars and Marshalls. A Fender guitar into a Fender amp, nothing beats this formula for tone (not counting circuit clones and boutique copies).
Make sure you lose it well: there is a lot of exploring to be done with finger picking. I use the flesh of my fingers in a modified form of Piedmont Blues (thumb, index, and middle) style picking which my hand wanted to do anyway. My modifications came when I thought about my thumb movement and hand position in terms of classical guitar planting and rest strokes.
what's with the montage music? I can do better than that. Sweetwater, if you guys ever thinking of changing the music, do let me know. I can produce a better one with very cheap price.
***** it's strange how Billie and Mike comment about Richie in the interviews. They say that they didn't think of using him and then they suddenly realized that they could. Makes it sound like they would have rather used someone else and then had to settle for Richie.
***** yeah, a lot of musicians had replaced others I dont get your point. Do you wanna say that because of that RK is a crappy musician or something like that? or your point is....?
JoshMetal316 just saying he looks wiped out and it's bizzare that both Billie and Mike said "we never thought of using Richie and then suddenly we realized that we could like we weren't seeing the forrest because of all the trees" It's also bizare that R. doesn't dress very rockn roll anymore and that he's quit playing with a pick and instead plays with his fingers which also isn't very rocknroll
***** IMO what matters is the sound and the feeling I couldn´t care less about the looks or if he decides to play a fender with his fingers, yeah billy and mike have said that, but if they didnt want him they would just say no and move on, but they didnt because they liked the result
Richie, you may want to check out your local Salvation Army store for some better clothes, and don't forget the government sponsor program for food stamps
Richie's body language is fun to watch when someone else is speaking.
One of my favorite guitarist and singers ever.
Billy is a great interview.
thank you Sweetwater ... Great interview.
Thanks for bringing the Richie Kotzen Signature Fender Tele to us !!
RICHIE KOTZEN IS THE GREATEST MUSICIAN OF ALL TIME. These three together are so talented it's UNGODLY.
I cant believe I sat through 25 minutes. I have a lot of shit to do today. But, these are some very interesting guys and the interviewer was quite good. Good stuff. Thank you Sweetwater and Winery Dogs.
Billy seems like a cool uncle you could just sit and talk with. really nice guy
Weird Scientologist uncle
I can attest that both Richie & Billy are personable and lovely people in addition to being MEGA TALENTED ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
could you imagine if these guys suddenly appeared in 1965 or so? It would have totally blown people away. They blow me away in 2017!!
Great interview! I could listen to Billy talk about music for hours!
Mitch Gallagher is a great interviewer! Good job!
Just discovered this line up a few days ago. They sound terrific. Been a long time fan of Billy's, not so much about Portnoy, though he's technically great and had never paid muh attention to Ritchie until now. So glad I found this, keeps hope in good new rock bands high.

This gentleman always asks great questions and does just great interviews! Great work Sweetwater keep it up!
I can't believe it's been so long ago that the first WD album came out! Now they finally put together WD 3, and I can't wait to hear it!
These guys are the real deal! Great musicians!
I love Richie at the end, just checking out the plexi in the corner, then looking at Mitch like - 'whoa!, you just turned on your radio dj voice for that outro bro' .....'that head is huge!' ....'don't smile, don't smile, don't,..man I could go some pizza right now..' +Leigh Czerwonka hahahahaha quiet amazing!!1 hahahaha what a embarrissing moment for him hahahaha
My musical culture is from another planet but since i've discovered Kotzen and Sheehan
in action I feel I've started an inter-galactic tour .These Guys are Great with Incredible
Musicianship ,creativity and virtuosity . They are a unique Twin somewhere .
Billy Sheehan uses Amazing Slow Downer to figure out his own parts. This makes me feel so much better about myself.
Great interview.
Richie write 3 songs in his head during this interview
Great interview, great band
What a great interview, thank you from down under.... I love these guys...
Very cool interview. I love TWD album and hope to see more from them, incl a live DVD!!!
That was one good interview. Thanks for that - learned something today.
Does Billy Sheehan do voice acting or voice overs? He has an amazing voice
+Yeah He should do audiobooks
He does! I could listen to him all day & night
Richie is absolutely correct that you have to live your life creatively & in a productive manner in order to be re-inspired to write again. I luv that he built his own deck. I really admire him 🥰
Great job interviewing these guys!...Kotzen does like tired as he should!....end of a tour and he is the lead vocalist as well
great interview
Great interview!

great interview right there. two of the best
Billy is so wise. Amazing bass player too. Ritchie Is in guitar guru world, totally unique.
Richie looks so exhausted. Poor guys been working his ass off
he looks like he doesn't care, or pissed off.
Greg Jaskiewicz
I think he's suffering (of....)
yeah, toothache or something maybe :/ .
Can you imagine how many times he has done this already ?
It's the nature of the beast. They are professionals. They know how to face repetition with dignity
I so agree with Richie regardign the balance of life, when you are a song writer. You can see they are true musicians
Great interview! I was thinking.. not sure if I have a 25 minute attention span right now but I'll see where this goes, dunno what happened to my time but the video is finished. I could listen to these guys ramble on about their music all day. xD
chickenfoot sound like chickenfeet next to the winery dogs. no pun intended
I love these interviews, interviewers so cool, not the biggest fan of these guys playing but theyve got a lot of interesting stuff to say.
The interviewer was also the Defensive Coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, Rob Ryan
These guys kick actual ass!!!
Ritchie looks sooooo tired, keeps struggling to keep his eyes open...
I always wondered what the “other guitar player” that didn’t work out? Just looked on wiki and it mentioned John Sykes called “Bad Apple.?”
To whomever titles segments, it's Vibro-King, not Viper King.
Sweetwater ROCKS
I wonder who the first guitarist, who didn't work out, was
I've listened to some of Kotzen's work, can't say that I'm a big fan though. I know he's replaced some guitarists in bands like poison and mr.big .. but, is this the first time that he is one of the original lineup?
he's done all kinds of solo work without big names like poison and mr big
Alex Bartha yeah I know he's done pretty of solo work. by "original line-up", I meant "in a band" where he's one of co-founders. something like that ;)

King Kotzen
Monte Montgomery uses no pick. The guy's a wizard. If you arent familiar with Monte, pull him up on TH-cam. Incredible, and a pretty good vocalist also.
Billy Sheehan = Mr. Articulate
Lindsey Buckingham is a HUGE finger picker. Ritchie's technique is very similar. Killer
whats with all those dislikes??
+chutti123
I have noticed it's on all Kotzen videos .And you are not the first to ask. Feels like vendetta.
+chutti123 Just as Benas said - I think it's some sort of "vendetta" from Poison fans...
:P
Why do rock musicians mainly wear black?
It’s to point out the artistic personality.. Colors make you focus on apperence and not the person.
Billy has a great voice too. He should sing some
Kōji Kabuto Man, Billy sings a lot.. Check out his version of "Oh well" from Peter Green's tribute, or pick somo of his soloist albums, "Compression", "Cosmic Troubadour" and "Holy cow!".. Here on TH-cam you can listen all of it..

Billy looks like he should be commanding a tank unit in 1939
kotzen is either stoned or has mental problems. Did you see all those weird faces ??
Kotzen never smiles. Must be a downer to spend time with
+bofuscrapshaw yeah, you can realize how a person really is because a 30 minute interview !!
this is sarcasm by the way.
+mario boggero just calling it like I see it
+bofuscrapshaw He looks tired and sleepy to me...
lol!! I can see that
Laila Vieira Martins yeees, handsome needs sleep...
Sweetwater rocks ... Guitar Center sucks the big kahuna!
Nice, Kotzen came over from the dark side into the light, forget about those stupid pointy guitars and Marshalls. A Fender guitar into a Fender amp, nothing beats this formula for tone (not counting circuit clones and boutique copies).
Suddenly...I want to lose my pick!

Richie looks a little bit like Mike Gordon from Phish
Ritcy kotzen look like Mr Bean (rowan atkinson)
Richie needs some sleep!! Get some rest my brother!!!
what's with the montage music? I can do better than that. Sweetwater, if you guys ever thinking of changing the music, do let me know. I can produce a better one with very cheap price.
Richie looks wiped out and depressed - why!? He's in a group with Billie Sheehan and Mike Portnoy!
You totally ignore who RK is, he is one of a kind, the guy can play guitar like a demon
***** it's strange how Billie and Mike comment about Richie in the interviews.

Richie wants to get the hell out of there......
Richie, you may want to check out your local Salvation Army store for some better clothes, and don't forget the government sponsor program for food stamps
+Edi Gabrieli He could go get the food stamps in his Porsche 911
If you are a musician, clothes don't matter... Skills do.
Great interview !
