    I always think about how James Hunt got into his Formula One racing career. He went to a race at the age of 17 with his friends. He saw that this was his passion and he was passionate about it. He spent his days working jobs and making just enough money to get his own car and begin. One thing I've learned is that you don't need to start racing right out of the womb. You don't need to be racing since 6 years old to succeed. You need natural talent and sheer skill and that means you need to be quick witted. You need to learn fast. It's one thing to be able to drive good but it's another thing to handle the G forces of going through corners for almost 2 hours. It's grueling and it's hard but it's possible. James Hunt won the world championship at 29 years of age and he started at 17. I'm getting into Motorsport and I believe it is possible. I don't want to be a Great Formula One driver or the next Dale Earnhardt. You have to offer something different to succeed and you have to trust yourself and trust the natural human ability to dream and to succeed. We are in an age where we are told we can't but we can. Good luck to anyone dreaming of a racing career. It isn't just about winning. It's also about losing and learning how to improve on your losses to win and work for it.

      @@definitelyjustcj4148 Yo bro completely agree I just turned 18 not long ago and have just started getting into motor sport Ive always had a passion for cars but never a love for racing quite like this I spend pretty much all my money on my 1994 Subaru liberty go karting (and the missus ofc) and I feel as though I could be a bit like an under dog or example for everyone like that guy U were just talking about although not quite at his level is evident that I'm not the quickest but with my age and even being just in top 3 occasionally I feel as tho I'm flying through the ranks all it takes is commitment

      Omg man you are absolutely right!
      I’m almost 18 and I live in a world’s ass where there is only a $5 5min lap on karting. Or in a bigger track for $15 ten minutes.
      I always dreamt about being a racer and no matter what everyone says that it’s too late, it’s not. If you believe, really work hard, you can do this💪🏼
      The biggest and one problem is that with F1 for example teams prefers younger drivers. But I think with some patients and persistence you can convince them!
      Also being oldest driver who didn’t drive from a cradle can be really hype.
      Me personally, would be really interesting to see battle between a new-old driver and verstappen😄
      So anyone who read this. If you really want this, just try everything you can. Maybe it isn’t THAT impossible)😉

I've already given up this dream thought that it's impossible for me to make it but you opened up all of these opportunities, shown me that there is still a sliver of hope. If I make it then I'll never forget the roots that led me to where I will be.

      @@mj6463I’m 17 trying to get into racing on a budget (I can prolly get a 50k/year job to fit my budget). How do you recommend I start if my goal is to get into any wec series/team? I don’t have an unrealistic goal like f1 or anything. What do u recommend I start with

    • @mj6463
      @mj6463 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@No-yo8ll a huge thing is just going to local races. I’d recommend going to any local rally events you can just to talk with people and learn. If there aren’t many then also go to other disciplines, ie pro carting and junior series, a lot of folks will have family or friends in other categories.
      This is the best way to find what series/clubs exist in the local area, (look it up ofc but many have no online presence) and there are also amazing deals you can get on race ready bundles (car+stuff) from people moving or leaving that you would never find online. That’s more important than it seems, if you can get a car that’s already passed tech inspection and has all/most of the spares it needs, you will save a ton of time, headache, and money, that means you will make it to more races.
      You should definitely do some rallycross if they have it in your area, some of the folks there know a lot about the pro side of rally too. Rally is a pretty small discipline, which makes relationships even more important. Skill is learned, but if you are terrible to be around then you won’t get many seats. (The bar is low, a lot of kids raised in racing are insufferable lol)
      Also I’m assuming you don’t mean you can spend 50k/year on racing, if that’s the case then you are in a great position. I don’t know enough about progression in rally to tell you how to spend your money. The thing I will say is the sim is underrated, I highly recommend it. Find knowledgeable people, observe, get a car, race. Btw many cars can be sold for around their purchase price, so don’t worry too much about being stuck in whatever you start in, you can often upgrade to different classes/series pretty painlessly.
      If you are passionate about it, and are willing to work hard even when it isn’t fun, you will do well.

    If you wanna get into a position where you get to talk to drivers/riders and stuff crash recovery is amazing. You get access to the paddock and hang out with the drivers (depending on which series your working for). I ended up taking over for a sick driver because I was good friends with the team boss and he knew I was a good driver. Just get into the world and it will help.

I have a bmw e46 330 I take to canyons and have a friend who has many old bmws very fast ones I’ve driven. I have the natural skill for racing for not doing it very much and for never been to a track I just need more practice to be great. My parents are in the movie industry and I want to do stunt driving for movies and have an in because they know many people and friends of theirs are stunt drivers. The problem is they are similar but 2 different paths that I would have to go into. Stunt driving takes time and effort to and I wouldn’t really be able to be any of them if I focus on both. Can stunt driving help get into racing or are they two different beasts that I wouldn’t be able to focus on both?

    people with disabilities need not apply.... people without skill can race all they want if they have the money, people with all the skills but no money will have to work their whole lives just to get a chance to "TRY" and by then they are too old! I was in line to be the 3rd generation of dirt racers... but my dad sold all the racing equipment after his last 2 cars blew up and caused a fire.... Then a year after high school I found out my back was in very bad shape, as in I wasn't able to do the kind of work I knew anymore and found that people do not like to hire a 19yo walking on a cane.... I'm 38 now, my dream of driving to my skill level is a nightmare, I might have a year maybe 2 before i'm unable to get in and out of a car. I drive for a dental lab for now, I get to be on the road in my 22yo pos 4 days a week just making enough to live at home with my parents and not be a huge burden and thats my life. No racing, no hope... just the sad guy typing this because..... I don't know why, the world has me so beaten and I don't have anyone to talk to. I guess I'm depressed and ranting, I do that when all I see is everything in the world isn't meant for me. (sorry, maybe you will see this and give that younger person you're thinking about a chance I wish I would have gotten)

      Two things. Really focus on learning how to earn money and get small backers, plus look for anything that is affordable. Race anything you can, no championship is too small. I’ve always watched videos about couches talking about racing, and watched so many videos, the best I can achieve is F1 racing in a video game lol. If money wasn’t an issue, i would do anything to up my skills and learn. There’s so many more factors to racing that make it seem very hard nearly impossible to achieve. So, unless you bring the revenue with you, or have connections or the ability to provide that revenue on a continuing basis, year after year. You ain't goin no where. Not too old for F4 at 18 but on the late side. A lot of future F1 drivers will be in F3 by then. But still, if you are winning in F4 at that age then you can still do something. British F4 costs around £220,000 and European costs about £300,000. Depends on team and how much testing.

    Perhaps you'll be able to attain the role of chief mecanic or crew chief after a number of years, but beyond that, not a chance in sight to become a driver. Not if you don't have the pockets.
    I wonder if I should even keep going at this point. It's only been 4 months, sure, but I don't think the jump is even possible.
    What would you guys do in my position? I'm lost in space here

      I did the mechanic way also. I did it with a team that actually let me drive now and then when I was at a loose end and has literally zero money for racing.
      It was tough because I had to watch other driver drive the car I wanted to race but at least I was in the sport and in the paddocks. It gave me motivation to sort things out.
      Mechanicing just puts you in the arena and gets you contacts that can save you money due to people knowing you. Better than being at home or in a 9-5 job for that reason

    Silly question regarding casual karting.
    Say someone (in the UK) did karting here and there, maybe during the F1 buzz, an odd weekend, for a lads meet up or even for a friend’s birthday party, if you did a handful of rounds but managed to show you are good at overtaking, good at taking the race line and generally being a good driver (respectful in terms of being careful and knowing when and when not to overtake), could you potentially be “scouted” to join F4 or other racing?
    Basically what I’m saying is, if your lucky enough to be doing karting for fun on a day there’s a scout from an academy or someone from a company looking to sponsor someone, coming to checkout an actual event, is there a possibility they could potentially approach you?

    • @EnzoMucci
      @EnzoMucci  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate. It is not likely to happen I’m afraid. They may look at drivers who are doing British kart club racing (which doesn’t cost too much), but even then, they will offer you a drive but you will have to pay. F4 is currently about £350k per season. Some spend £750k if they do lot of testing and the UAE series over winter to warm up for the main championship.

      running Karts as a start, limits liabilities and lets you learn at a lot lower cost with more opportunity to practice and run wheel to wheel. If you can't make it with a competitive Kart maybe you should look at another sport.

    I've watched this video multiple times and there's one thing he mentioned about being far from the motorsports industry that's really bothering me. I live in Africa (Kenya specifically) and naturally since there's a lack of motorsports in East Africa (apart from WRC) scouts don't really come here at all. Getting into WEC or F1 from here would be the ultimate success for me but it's looking insanely difficult, so much so that my parents think I'm joking. I'm only 14 so I cant just say "Screw it, I'll figure it out myself" and get a job to start myself off, so I need help. What do I do?

    • @EnzoMucci
      @EnzoMucci  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah I hear you. It is crazily difficult to compete in a sport when the sport is not represented or catered for in your country. It’s a case of having to move when you are old enough to do so, and get a job in motorsport or apply to study ok the motorsport industry in countries that do have a scene. Then at least you get a visa to be in those countries and build your career from there.

    Hi Enzo, I’m 14 turning 15 in a couple of months. I want to get into any type motorsport and become a paid driver, I will do anything to get into it. I don’t have a lot of money but I am quite talented... Any advice?

    • @donniel7758
      @donniel7758 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well there are many people who will do anything to get into it. What kind of talent do you possess? Have you participated in an official amature Karting race?
      You should start with amature Karting cause it's the cheapest kind of racing, though it's still not cheap. Basically, no one will give you a chance unless they can see you prove yourself first, but you need pay for it yourself first because no one will give you a drive just to prove yourself, no matter how much or how bad you show you want it.
      If you already are in amature racing though, get better and try to make it to bigger races. The bigger the race, the more opportunities you will have. If you perform good enough you can catch the eye of programs like Ferrari Young Drivers program. Mercedes and red bull have them too. Basically they will pay for all of part of your racing expenses if you get recruited by them. But that's really hard and maybe only 2-3 out of thousands of young racing drivers every year get chosen for it. And you have to be the very best

    1. Be fucking rich
    2. Start ASAP

    4. Keep working for it
