I love how at first you're like "Why is Zane so weird? Oh it's because he's a robot." But then we meet Pixal who doesn't act like this and you realize Zane being a robot is unrelated and he's just neurodivergent.
I love that too, and also how Dr. Julien confirms in season 2 that Zane's cooking ability isn't programmed in, meaning that not everything in him is down to programming.
@@AvaTsohantaridis I figured that the only thing that is preprogrammed is his basic personality, and Zane still learns new skills and information like normal humans.
Isn't pixel a lot more modern tho, she was made just to be a robot and although she gained a personality, Zane was programmed to be human like, and humans can be weird.
@luffaplaysstuff good question, im not sure tbh, Cryptor (and all the nindroids created in S3 specifically) seems to act more like neurotypical nindroid than Zane, but it could be that we have mostly seen him taking orders and hating Zane i need to rewatch season 3 and day of the departed to take notes specifically about cryptor
No they did not. Zane was originally meant to be a prototype and his funny switch wasn't on either. He's different because he's one of the earliest models ever. Mr.E was his more advanced version and Pixal was also already built as a more advanced version as well.
@@neonice being a prototype doesnt make him less neurodivergent compared to almost all other nindroids though, he still shows irrational behaviour thats not seen in other robots and nindroids that also doesnt come from living with the ninja, which in this case, its neurovidergent since nindroids and AIs are a species of people in ninjago, also, he literally rebuilt himself and still choose to keep stuff similar to his original build (like the funny switch), which is something a neurotypical nindroid would NOT do, because its an irrational behaviour, its not logical nor efficient to do that, but zane did it anyways, the same way he chose to use the divers suit in seabound because he wanted to look cool like his friends even if he didnt needed it to breathe. Most AIs in ninjago would avoid these behaviours, or question them at the very least, but Zane does stuff for the fun of it, and waaay more often than other nindroids like pixal
I love how him being a robot didn't make him any less neurodivergent coded after seeing that he was still different when compared to other robots lmao zane my autistic king 😼
I love Zane, he’s unironically some of the best Autistic representation in media. Yes, he’s autistic, you can’t convince me otherwise. As for him being a robot, that’s just another part of him. It’s like how I’m both autistic, and dyslexic. Ah…I love ninjago, it’s one of my favorite shows ever.
When I was younger I related to Zayn so much, until they revealed he was a robot I got really sad for some reason. Learning that I'm autistic later down the line makes so much more sense and him being a robot felt a little outta left field but him becoming more human over time and clearly different from other robots makes up for it.
I remember a scene where the ninjas make a joke at the table and Zane has to turn on the humor, laugh with them and then turn it off again. So relatable lol
The whole idea of making Zane a robot because of how he acted autistic-coded in the pilot is kinda ick but they redeemed it by making other robot character straight up not act the same besides maybe Echo and early early Pix. Went from he's autistic coded because he's actually a robot to he's just a autistic robot lol
I’ve not kept up with Ninjago in ages since I only watched it casually as a kid but I’ve always loved Zane. He’s just the most memorable part of the show for me (my favourite scene is the butterflies in my stomach moment). Also, after ages of just thinking I’m immature for my age, I learnt that I’m undiagnosed autistic YIPPPPEEEEEE
you know what. screw it. i’m saying them anyway. most of these are because i like the character so i gave them my issues. in no particular order: cole - ADHD zane - autistic (obviously) jay - autistic and ADHD but with an emphasis on the ADHD (to me he’s an AuDHDer) arin - autistic. just look at him geo - autistic (with a spritz of separation anxiety disorder/abandonment issues but i don’t think that counts as neurodivergence. oh well he’s neurodivergent to me because i love him) i can’t think of anymore please share your headcanons yippeeee!!!

Being autistic as well, I found great joy in continuing watching Ninjago growing up. It is a common interest between me and my 10yo younger brother, which really makes us bond, where the age difference otherwise makes it a little challeging. This also taught me a few things. Great humour, and compilation. Thank you for making it.
No, I'm with you. I 100% see Zane as Neurodivergent. Even if he is a robot he still has those vibes. A lot of the time autism and robots are linked in more of a negative way how people on the spectrum are more of a emotionless robot who just CANT get it. Zane is the opposite sure he doesn't get things a lot of the time but arguably even though he is a robot he is the most human of the ninja. The guy *spoilers* literally sacrificed himself because he cares. Moreover the show treats Zane finding out he is a robot and more of it's Zane finding out how his body and mind works. I have a friend who hasn't been diagnosed for autism yet but a lot of my friends are certain they are. My friend when they watched Ninjago really related to Zane. In short yeah, it's not just you who thinks Zane is Neurodivergent.
My whole childhood I always found Zane incredibly relatable and I empathised with him a lot and I didn't know why. Anyway guess who got an autism diagnosis a few years ago.

Dude how is that sad he was never neurodivergent in the first place. The reason he doesn't get jokes and stuff is because his funny switch isn't on. Because he had to grow up without his dad who died early, wiped his memory and left Zane to figure out his functions alone.
@@neoniceBut even when is funny switch is on he doesnt get jokes, his type of humor is complety diffrent than most people wich is really common in autistic people. idk if i'm autistic or not (my autistic friend insists i am but i'm in denial) but zane is so precious and relatable to me! i used to not be able to decide who my favorite ninja was until zane came along. Him not getting jokes and sarcasm, his uninviting expression, taking things too literally, using complex language others don't understand info dumping and fact checking, using the word approximately a lot and getting into character when doing a job are all things I do! It was especially relatable when he talked like a detective because I've tried to mimic the speech of my favorite character, ENA. Asking for the type of reaction people want from me is real, too, although I tend to be overreactive compared to zane. Discomfort with lying is a big one too, although it could just be for personal reasons. Being dazed by flashing lights and overwhelmed by social environments is really relatable, too! Anyway, I love zane he's so me it's time to watch lego ninjago again EEEEEEEEEE JUMP UP KICK BACK WHIP AROUND AND SPIN
