i mean ushijima is an all japan youth prodigy, game recognizes game. with how good of a player ushijima is he can probably tell more than most just how much of a monstrous work ethic and mindset to be the best and win hinata has. it probably feels uneasy thinking he might creep up on him when he least expects and overtake him
I'm surprised that nobody mentions the difference in Hinata compared to the earlier two episodes. When he got his "punishment" of being a ball boy and stood on the end of the court, he was staring straight ahead like a zombie. No reaction to the game, only an eagerness to join in when a match is starting. Now that he's actually trying, he's looking around, observing the people, the court and their reactions to one another. He's no longer staring straight ahead thinking "I want to play", he's finally in the mindset of "What can I learn while not playing."
@3:35 Noya talked about how good receivers can read the spikers' form, like Daichi and Yaku does! Our humble king didn't even mention himself :'> when we know how great Noya is!
@@lachyywhite it's such a nice moment of insight into Noya's character, because he doesn't necessarily view himself as great, he's basically always in the mentality of "there's still room for me to improve," dude is pro material for sure
Been waiting for the split step vindication ever since I saw that reaction, and it didn’t disappoint xD The meaning behind Ushijima’s words at 2:13 is less of “I hate it” and more along the lines of “that’s troublesome/scary”. It’s a common phrasing used for situations where something or someone begins to feel like a threat or an obstacle, hence the negative phrasing, but the person is often still excited about it in some way (like excited for better competition).
Yeah, unfortunately 嫌 is often translated more harshly than intended (at least in my experience) and it can really shift the perception of a scene/character where it's part of a pivotal moment. Imo it most often captures that feeling of "this makes me uncomfortable/I don't like it but I can't really explain why". It's definitely not as strong as "hate" in most contexts
I think whenever Tsukki sees Hinata working so hard he feels like he’s just not doing enough, though he’d never admit that out loud lmao. Hinata’s unstoppably enduring attitude and passion to improve himself is truly contagious
It's great that Nishinoya specifically mentioned Daichi as a great receiver, because if you go back to the third years' flashback in season 3, you'll see that Daichi had those same vines around him that Hinata had earlier in this season, both feeling stuck. And then, in the montage of the third years growing and learning and improving, we specifically get a scene of Daichi in practice as a ball boy. It's one of several parallels between Daichi and Hinata that we see in the show, and it acts as a great bit of foreshadowing for this arc.
25:18 Tsukki's basically saying "If the gate-crasher ball boy is taking this so seriously, I feel like I, who was invited, should be working harder." And it annoys Tsukki and Kunimi, or makes them feel uncomfortable, since they're "slackers"; they don't like after-practice practice. Tanaka actually started practicing jump serves last episode, but wasn't given focus. It was during Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei conversation. The screen showed the team practicing serves, and Tanaka did a jump serve, but no one in the team was making abig deal out of it, and we were probably focusing on the subtitles about their serious conversation.
"I feel like i should do something when i see him" i interpreted as: Hinata's hard working mentality is contagious. Also, Tsuki and Hinata play the same position, so they are somewhat competitive with each other, even though they play a totally different style and serve the team in a very different way.
Exactly! Hinata makes Tsukki feel like he's not working hard enough, and we know Tsukki typically prefers minimal effort, but Tsukki is also competitive, so seeing Hinata go all in on being a ball boy actually inspires Tsukki to work harder. Sun and Moon~
Ushiwaka is agreeing with Tendo when he says he "hates it" because they are unsettled by Hinata's dogged resilience. Even when put in a position where most would struggle to mentally push through, he simply decides to think hard about how to improve, and chases that without hesitation. Moments that would be devastating or otherwise demotivating to others simply serves to make him more determined to move forward. It's "creepy" in the sense that it's very unusual in that uncanny valley sort of way. He looks human, acts human, but it inhumanly positive about things, making him keep functioning where others would lose their nerve.
Every 5 min Lachy-“the animation in different. I don’t care though. It definitely is different… not that I care. But the animation seems different. Not that I care or anything BAAAAKA.”
7:34 yeah, it's probably a thing in any sport where you have to react fast with your body to something. I played badminton and you do it all the time. Goalkeepers in soccer probably use it. And there's more. 25:18 Tsukki meant that everytime he sees Hinata doing so much, he feels like he needs to step up. And even tho he's more involved in Volleyball, Tsukki is still Tsukki, he doesn't want to do more work lol.
I just LOVE how locked in Hinata is here. He takes this camp and the opportunity he was given the most serious. Not saying the others are lazy or not giving their best, but this just really showcased Hinata's mindset and drive. He will indeed be a scary threat when he keeps working like that. Imagine years of intense training on his skills and mentality combined with this natural athleticism and reflexes.
One more i wanted to add is that the training ball boy arc is not just hinata learning whatv he lacks and fundamentals by observing and learning how to accomplish/perform those fundamental but how to be an athlete. What to eat and drink and how take care of your muscles and body is incredibly important as well.🤓☝️
also. it’s never a bad time to talk about how much haikyuu emphasises on the topic of self care in the ways that it does. genuinely one of my favourite things in a series oh haikyuu I love the meaning in your storytelling so much 😭
Hinata realizing that a different perspective (literally) can teach him a lot, especially as someone who is obsessed with being ON the court, is the second moment I knew I would forever cherish this series. Tsukki’s moment in season 3 was the first. (Also, as a soccer player - left back in defense - seeing the split step makes me giddy)
Just wanna say . . . another hint dropped in this episode that Ushiwaka's autistically coded, as what I've mentioned a few times before in some of your reactions: he literally interpreted Kageyama and Hinata as "monsters" as what Tendo said to him----yep, the straightforward/taken-at-face-value thinking. (P.S. It's also the same in a previous ep when he was even reading an unusual skin care advertisement in the comics? magazine that Tendo presumably told him off-screen to "read everything" in it as it's Tendo's fave. There's still a few more hints in the manga actually on Ushiwaka being subtly a neurodivergent).
I think what Tsuki means by having to do something is that Hinata is always trying to do better or to do something new, so he feels like he needs to practice too, so he isn't left behind. Just like one is more likely to study in a group if everyone else is studying.
The legendary spu..spa.... splatter..SPLIT step returns!!! This episode paired with next one are *chef's kiss*. Hahahah "I'm so glad it going well for him"....Immediately after:😵💫😵 Lachy- Hope your knee's doing well, and you crushed it game 1! Gone/going down that long and frustrating road. Dislocated my knee pretty severely a couple times in college doing dumb stuff. Recently have been playing in VB leagues and pick up here in NYC for the first time since HS gym class a century ago.. started playing well the last two weeks after a roller coaster first month. last week I pushed too hard, too often working out and fkd my bad knee up in some new way. Love VB more than I remembered, especially now I've been getting to play with skilled, experienced players.....IDK when I'll be back , just know I will be
I was super happy to hear them mention it! And I'm sorry to hear you injured it again legend, I always struggle with holding back from going too hard too soon. So you've been a good reminder for me now! Give it the rest it needs and do that rehab (I can send you some videos if you need them). I'll be eager to hear when you get to make it back!
This episode in particular highlight for me why Washio was against Hinata joining beyond the pettiness. Hinata does not have the fundamentals that the other players have, its not his fault or any other persons. Just a truth. He needed to see that for himself. He admires all these vb players but he's never thought of how they do what they can do.
Embarrassed? I think its really sweet the assistant coach respects Hinata so much he feels the need to apologize to him even if it was just a thought he had.
Split step I think originally might come from tennis, but it's applicable in many sports honestly. I was a goalkeeper in football (Soccer) and have played at a decently high level, though nothing like nationals, and split step came naturally to me and I did it without realizing, which helps a lot in making quick reactions or when need to reach across the goalpost for a dive (every millisecond counts). I didn't actually realize what I was doing (or more correct that it was a very known technique in other sports) until I started learning tennis in high school. It makes sense in any sport that requires a lot of side-to-side quick reactions because you get that slight initial boost that can be the whole difference (depends on play style also ofcourse)
In American Football we used splatter step too. As a defensive end, I would position my feet in a certain way to make the opponent think I was going one way but splatter stepped to go the other way when the play started. Great technique that splatter step
Man, I waited so long for you to react to.this episode. As soon as you said "Split Step" in an earlier.reaction, I was like "Man, he.called something out in the future"
I'm pretty sure you use the split-step in most sports, footwork is super important in 99% of sports. I played football my whole childhood and after watching haikyuu and playing some volleyball here and there I realized I had been doing the split-step all along, I guess it was ingrained in me from football practice. Tennis, badminton and pingpong are probably the sports where always doing split-steps is the most important thing. To stay in balance and be able to react fast
By the way, congrats on the recovery! You're commentary on Haikyuu is super fun to listen to so don't be ashamed about getting emotional, even people who don't really related still tear up. (I didn't relate to a lot of things until recently and it just hits different.) Anyway, keep enjoying the show!
As someone who played tennis for 11 years, yes. The split step is an integral part of tennis. If you ever watch it, they always do that on a service reception. They generally step forward and then into split step so they also have some forward momentum into their shot as well, and is very common in preparing for returns in general as it's the easiest way to change direction. Being light on your feet and quick to react is crucial to make it far in tennis. I miss playing, but not sure my body would keep up anymore. At least beach volleyball is easier on the body with the sand.... though currently out with vertigo that hasn't left me alone for 2 months -.- so that's.... fun.. Got a whole new appreciation for the illness and how bad it can be and how many causes there are for it though.
Am mostly a quiet enjoyer of your content Lachy, but I just gotta say, in regards to the start of your video; don't be sorry for being brave to tell us about your story and the sadness behind it. Part of why the lot of us enjoy is the level of depth of your investment towards these stories. How it manifests through fun high energy reactions, wise and caring advice, and even how you respond in vulnerability is what adds to your brand of genuinity; something so scarce in this online space but something so precious and needed regardless. Hyped to see you react to the rest of the season and hyped to continue to see your channel grow :))
In regards to your episodic reminder to be productive and improve yourself: Men, you have a hormone cycle too. It's a daily cycle. Your testosterone peaks in the mornings and troughs at night. So when you wake up, start the day off right by taking advantage of your testosterone boost and get something done. That's when you'll be at your most confident, most focused, and most energized. Do that, and that sense of accomplishment from doing what you set out to do will be something you can ride on and even build on for the rest of the day.
You can definitely see the difference from season 4 and the new movie! You can tell that the movie had a lot of love going into the animation even though we didn't get every little scene from the manga
Yes, the split step Is One of the footworks basics in tennis. And you do all the time, Is something you have to do constantly After the opponents stroke. Otherwise you would be way too late. Actually before watching haikyuu i didn't even know was part of volleyball, i Always thought It was only a tennis thing.
It's used in a lot more sports than you would think. I grew up playing a lot of sports and I've seen/used in it basketball, (american) football, and very rarely in Wrestling (the not WWE kind.) I think it's just one of those basic that transfer really well to most sports. Wouldn't surprise me if you saw a goalie in soccer using it too.
I am so glad after many months you finally got to see the 'split step' that you described so long ago! Many of us knew exactly what you were talking about when you first mentioned it. I love that all of Hinata's ex opponents are always watching him. They all play each other but they recognize Hinata as the most formidable even though he isn't even versing them right now. Ushijama's question "What are you even doing?" is basically what everyone else is wondering as they watch Hinata, little does Hinata know that everyone is trying to study him as well.
I've been waiting for this split step reaction since one of your early videos when you mentioned it lol, I'm leaving this comment before starting so I'm super excited to see how you react to it, already seeing it in the title is a good sign lolol
Split steps are taught in most sports, especially ones where you have to get ready for a hard hit, tennis, baseball, volleyball. Ive never played soccer but im sure gk's are taught the split step for penalty kicks.
The level of trolling in this community is top tier 😂👌, I've taken loads of inspiration from this show and you man, great episode again and as always keep it up champion
About Washijo. He Is doing the right thing. You can't go in a Camp you are not invited and have the right to sleep there and eat there. What would happen next year if other students follow Hinata example? It's about education. You want to be a ball boy? Ok, do It, but then go back to your house. Hinata Tried to create for himself a chance that was not given to him by breaking rules. It's not acceptable regardless the fact that he Is the MC or a nice kid. That's not how Life works and not how educating children works.
Thank you, as always, for your words! You actually helped me a lot, also you are a part of my new path i can feel your support and i'm doing pretty good and i'm proud of myself. I just wanted you to know that, you're having a huge impact on my life
I was waiting for the split step reveal!! There is one more thing I'm looking forward for you to see, but it isn't animated yet, so I hope you'll check out the manga after finishing watching!
As a tennis teacher, I can ASSURE you that the split step is a key element in tennis movement. We try to teach it from a younger age so it gets incorporated soon enough so you don't have problems when you're a teen and a bit awkward with your body. Same as volleyball, you split step when the rival hits the ball so you can explosively move towards the ball and get there in time to fully stop and hit the ball comfortably. Sorry didn't mean to turn this into tennis lesson, but since you said you've been playing, it may be helpful ^^
4:47 I WAS KEEPING MY MOUTH SHUT SO HARD WHEN YOU TOLD US ABOUT SPLIT STEPS, I'M SO GRATEFUL YOU EVEN REMEMBERED!!! 6:47 you said that because i mentioned if people get flashbacks they usally die, i just know you thought about that comment in that sec xD 8:23 R.I.P Somebody got caught red handed 9:19 JACOB IS THE WEREWOLVE, EDWARD IS THE VAMPIRE SIR! 21:02 With empty he basically meant that because hinata is "not well knowledge" in volleyball, it's kind of way of calling him stupid too in that way, that's why the coach apologized in his head to hinata haha
No one ever taught it to me, but when I played baseball as a kid I played 2nd base, and the split step was huge for being able to field a fast ground ball. It just felt natural to do it to be able to spring in whatever direction you needed to get the ball, but I never heard anyone talk about it until I watched this show. I'd guess in any sport that you need to quickly respond with mobility (as opposed to dexterity were you might just need fast hands) the split step is probably fundamental.
The way I interpret what Tsuki thought is that Hinata tries so hard that whenever Tsuki sees him he feels like he's being left behind if he doesn't do something.
when you mentioned "split step" on one of your previous reactions, i just know 😂 i knew you're really gonna enjoy season 4 when tsukki was looking at him, its kinda like when other players watch a match between 2 great players/teams. the match is so good, you also feel restless just watching them, you also want to play the game, something like that. basically when he saw hinata trying so hard, he also felt the need to work harder. but its tsukki so 😭😂
Glad we finally got to that split step :D So many things you just talked about over this time that come through xDD Nah I would subscribe for that again if I could :D Even Lachy has a character arc in this show :D Dont worry I am leaving my coach defense for when this arc is over :D Lachy out here practicing his All-Might laugh xDD Basically what Tsukki said is "Whenever I see Hinata I cant help but feel motivated to try harder" Anyways, not much to share today so I am looking towards the next one :3
Dude! Just starting the vid and can only speak for myself but I look forward to your vids sad, mad, hype, happy and inspiring! You spend a considerable about of time uplifting your audience so I hope we can do the same for you. We all have moments of emotion! Last weeks episode was great and I’m looking forward to watching you enjoy nationals!
i dont think its unreasonable to send hinata home for the night. i imagine everyone had to get parental permission and waviers and stuff signed to attend the camp, non of which hinata would have. would proabably be a major insurance liability having him there
This may not be obvious, but the younger coach at the camp is Coach Anabara, the new coach at Johzenji, the "crazy athletic" school from season 2 that loves 2-on-2 play. He's an ex-alum at Shiratorizawa, so knows Coach Washijo. The entire "camp for first years" was his idea.
I knew about split step from watching goalkeepers in soccer do it right before and attacker is about to shoot, I just didnt know what it was called or the details
Damn, it's insane how good Tsutomu is when you consider he is only 1st year. I think he will be a true monster, even bigger than Ushiwaka in his 3rd year. Also don't spoil me people, i'm anime only 😅
I don’t think they do explain it. But the tuski qoute is about him being naturally more lazy/ energy conservative. But seeing hinata makes him want to work hard too.
26:39 The word "tsukiatte" ( 付き合って) commonly associated with 'dating'. But depends on the context, it means 'come with me' or 'hang out with me'. That's why Hinata took few secs to respond to Tsukki bc sometimes ppl misunderstood the meaning😂.
You don't need to apologize for showing vulnerability. You're a human being before being a reactor or TH-camr, and to me, this only adds more depth to your reactions. 🤗
So I don't know if anyone else has explained the situation with the animation quality this season so I'll try: There was a 3 year break between the season 3 & 4. When they finally greenlit season 4 the original series director was engaged with another show so they used a more junior director. Additionally by this point in the manga the creator's art style had evolved into a slightly different style than when he started, so this is reflected in the updated character designs. But the thing that had the most impact the quality this season was that Covid happened in the middle animating this season. You can see this most in 2 episodes in the 2nd half of the season, but the good news is that by the quality recovers after that. The change is style is divisive with fans. Personally I prefer the styles of the first 3 seasons but I still really enjoyed season 4.
7:30 lol, side comment, i just want to put it out there :P😬I'm pretty uneducated about sports, I only know split step from prince of tennis (an older school-sports anime)
3:53 Hinata looke weird there because he can't see any indicators based on their form, so he was confused how one can tell where they're going to spike
Back when you said about the split step, I didn't want to tell you what, but I said "you are giving spoilers" was about that. You didn't get at the time, but I laughed a lot
Washijo not letting Hinata stay/eat is where i draw the line. Hinata is a 16 year old who has to bike all the way through the mountains to his little town, in what world would a responsible adult (specially a teacher?!) not want him to stay safe. Also i'm sure the rest of the ball boys get these basic rights as well.
I think Ushijima's explanation is that Hinata has to get used to this (having no place to stay). Just from being short there won't be places for him in the future and he'll have to make his own path as well. With that said our boy is like 16 😭
I mean, the rest of the ball boys are from Shiratorizawa, so they live at the dorms. I agree that it's harsh to send him out alone at night, but he chose to be there, and was warned about it. It's the first time we see consequences to his impulsive action, which could have had repercussions on Tsukishima too. Tbh I'm more shocked that Hinata's parent aren't worried about the fact he just left on his own.
Honestly only the food part bothered me. Like not being able to stay in the dorms makes sense bc they probably had to do some sort of paperwork to the school to get them to stay but not giving him food is insane to me. Like that's a basic necessity that doesn't cost much especially towards a school like shiratorizawa.
There will be an episode or two later on that do have considerably worse animation but it is still due to the outsourcing during the pandemic, rn it's more "different" as opposed to "worse" I honestly quite like the new style tho, allows for much more dynamic animation personally.
I don't think they take that much advantage of that more dynamic animation. Some of the last episodes of season 4 have these parts where the characters are drawn kidna deformed (apparently like in the manga) to convey intense motion, but the characters barely actually move. Why not show that intense motion through animation?
@@mikkosimonen I do remember those and understand what you're saying but I don't think we'll ever know the full truth, could still be because of budget cuts or wanting to stay true to the manga's interpretation but I personally think they still did a good job at making it enjoyable to watch. I also remind myself that it's an anime, whacky shit happens all the time whether intentionally or not.
@@InSamniac777 It just looks so weird! And you’d think they put the money into the final eps! But the style does come into its own in the movie, when they have the budget to go all out.
@@mikkosimonen you're fully allowed to think that I agree it would be weird to not focus on the later end of a season. The movie came with it's own issues tho which I think we're worse than just some subpar animation during a full 24 ep season.
Please stop apologizing for the last episodes story time, at least for me I i really am thankful to hear other people experience and learn from them 😊 thank you man
A lot of people don't like that Coach didn't give Hinata a place to stay or even food to eat, but HInata broke the rules knowingly. Why did we expect that he would get the same things as those actually invited? Like Ushiwaka said, he forced himself to a space he wasn't invited to so why should he be rewarded? (Albeit the "reward" being basic necessity). If we allow one person a special pass, who's to say others wouldn't follow his example? Rules are rules, unfortunately. He's already pushing it with being there, and Hinata knows it. That's why he isn't despairing. I'm not going to debate the morality of this decision because we'd be arguing forever. But I just wanted to explain the Coach and Ushiwaka's perspective (and I don't even like either of them, LOL.)
i promise you the animation wont get to unwatchable levels LOL theres definitely a couple episodes in particular where you can tell that they were working off of like 0 budget but for the most part, like you said, its fine because you're so engrossed in the story!! budgeting/covid issues aside i really like the new style :] i like the old one too but this one feels more like the manga and i think everyone looks cute :')
you are being unfair to old sensei. yes you are right he might be petty but on the other hand what responsibility does he have for someone who sneaks in your school uninvited? He is already providing hinata with valuable lesson just by letting him be ballboy and watch those more talented than him play and just by being in same gym he gets to listen to coach giving players feedback even though he shouldnt be there. Now you expect him to also feed the guy he never wanted there in the first place? It makes sense that kids like tendou dont understand cause they cant help but to emphatize with person more similar in their shoes who in this case is hinata so they think "i wouldnt like if that happened to me", but adults would always look at situation from both sizes and deduce that old coach is just action rationaly. Alternatively i think what i would do in his shoes is tell hinata situation in public for all the kids to hear and say that food is rationed and beds are acounted for. basically i would give the rest of the kids chance to offer hinata to share the bed with them and if someone is willing to sacrifice portion of their food i wouldnt kick hinata out of my school but to play devil advocate Washijo didnt really kick hinata either, he just said "there is no food or bed for those not invited". If Hinata decides to stay here starving and sleep on the floor or not knowing if someone is willing to help him out then Washijo wouldnt barge in to kick him on the street (ofc this last bit is hypothetical as we cant confirm it or deny it)
“I’m glad it’s going so well for him!” Immediate groin shot.
I jinxed him
25:55 poor Hinata had his jewels shattered thanks to red flags
This show is so great at mixing up how things are going, emotions, and what you're focused on. You can't get ultra focused for too long before they have something hilarious or off-beat happen just to keep you all engrossed in the show. It's brilliant.
"Look at him go!"

I love how the "guess monster" and Ushijima who literally has a god like spike looks at Hinata and think "that thing scares me".

@@abluerainbow nice reference xD

Soooo true! I didn't notice that but I love Noya for it

Been waiting for the split step vindication ever since I saw that reaction, and it didn’t disappoint xD
The meaning behind Ushijima’s words at 2:13 is less of “I hate it” and more along the lines of “that’s troublesome/scary”. It’s a common phrasing used for situations where something or someone begins to feel like a threat or an obstacle, hence the negative phrasing, but the person is often still excited about it in some way (like excited for better competition).
Hahha yes I can imagine and that makes more sense now! Thank you for explaining
The vindication! The splatter step. Perfect.
TRUE!! That is such a cool detail
Yes that is a great way to look at it! He's bringing them all up around himself
Honestly, it's the best explanation I've seen in general.
Every 5 min Lachy-“the animation in different. I don’t care though. It definitely is different… not that I care. But the animation seems different. Not that I care or anything BAAAAKA.”
HAHAHAHAH I can't help say it, I honestly mean it I swear
7:34 yeah, it's probably a thing in any sport where you have to react fast with your body to something. I played badminton and you do it all the time. Goalkeepers in soccer probably use it. And there's more.
25:18 Tsukki meant that everytime he sees Hinata doing so much, he feels like he needs to step up. And even tho he's more involved in Volleyball, Tsukki is still Tsukki, he doesn't want to do more work lol.
Yes very good point! I'm sure there's a heap of uses for it across sports
What to eat and drink and how take care of your muscles and body is incredibly important as well.🤓☝️
also. it’s never a bad time to talk about how much haikyuu emphasises on the topic of self care in the ways that it does. genuinely one of my favourite things in a series oh haikyuu I love the meaning in your storytelling so much 😭
They do it so well!
Hahahah "I'm so glad it going well for him"....Immediately after:😵💫😵
Lachy- Hope your knee's doing well, and you crushed it game 1!
I can't believe we're finally here THE SPLIT STEPPPP 😭😭
Shout out to YOU for mentioning the Split Step back in Season 1 Episode 7. (my notes came in handy) the 5 month wait was so worth it
Hahahah everyones been waiting for me to realise it
I haven’t even watched the rest of the video; Never apologize for being sad in a reaction! It’s a /reaction/, how you react is always totally valid !!
Aw man, the epic music coming in and the flashback to all the split-step mentions brought a tear to my eye. XD
In American Football we used splatter step too. As a defensive end, I would position my feet in a certain way to make the opponent think I was going one way but splatter stepped to go the other way when the play started.
Great technique that splatter step
Ooooo there you go! I'm learning so many different applications across different sports
@@lachyywhite cool!
Oh lol I just saw I am featured in the split step montage hahaha- been waiting for this episode since then xD
Hahha nice! I tried to grab as many of the comments as I could find
Well, well, well, here we are
Hahahha everyones been holding it in
Man, I waited so long for you to react to.this episode. As soon as you said "Split Step" in an earlier.reaction, I was like "Man, he.called something out in the future"
4:45 please someone give an oscar to the editor of this video!!! 😂
IT!
COULD!
WOOOOOORK!!!
Literally never apologize for sharing your honest feelings, Lachy. Last episode was great!
I appreciate you for saying that legend ❤️
By the way, congrats on the recovery! You're commentary on Haikyuu is super fun to listen to so don't be ashamed about getting emotional, even people who don't really related still tear up. (I didn't relate to a lot of things until recently and it just hits different.) Anyway, keep enjoying the show!
That thumbnail...is freaking awesome!!!
It loooks soo good ❤️
It did come out pretty sick! Thanks so much
As someone who played tennis for 11 years, yes.
THE SPLIT STEP!!!😂😭🧡
Am mostly a quiet enjoyer of your content Lachy, but I just gotta say, in regards to the start of your video; don't be sorry for being brave to tell us about your story and the sadness behind it. Part of why the lot of us enjoy is the level of depth of your investment towards these stories. How it manifests through fun high energy reactions, wise and caring advice, and even how you respond in vulnerability is what adds to your brand of genuinity; something so scarce in this online space but something so precious and needed regardless. Hyped to see you react to the rest of the season and hyped to continue to see your channel grow :))
I really appreciate you legend, your comment totally made my day and I'll always keep it in mind 👑
Yeah the splatter step 🎉🎉😂
what i love about this episode is that you get to see how much more goes into receiving than just go to the ball and put your arms out.
In regards to your episodic reminder to be productive and improve yourself:
Men, you have a hormone cycle too.
XDDDDD the editing, the victory music, love it KEK when you mentioned split step back then it made me grin too and now here we are~
Oh man!! I laughed way too much and way too hard during this! The little edit for the split step sent me to outer space
My moment finally arrived hahah
@@lachyywhite one of us! One of us!
love these reactions so much i’m needing the double episodes back …
Yes, the split step Is One of the footworks basics in tennis.
Hahaha yes I feel like my life is complete
HAPPY SPLIT STEP DAY EVERYONEE
Split steps are taught in most sports, especially ones where you have to get ready for a hard hit, tennis, baseball, volleyball. Ive never played soccer but im sure gk's are taught the split step for penalty kicks.
It’s totally cool. You keep things real is why I keep coming back
Appreciate you👑
The level of trolling in this community is top tier 😂👌, I've taken loads of inspiration from this show and you man, great episode again and as always keep it up champion
FINALLY!! Lol, one of the moments we've all been impatiently waiting for!
I just wanted you to know that, you're having a huge impact on my life
HAHAHA!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE SPLIT STEP THIS WHOLE TIME!!! 😂😂
5:35 i think Lachy might've split something else in that moment 😂 glad you felt that vindication
Kindaichi just ended the Hinata bloodline
I was waiting for the split step reveal!! There is one more thing I'm looking forward for you to see, but it isn't animated yet, so I hope you'll check out the manga after finishing watching!
Been waiting for the reaction to the split step ever since you explained it bro 😂😂😂
6:47 you said that because i mentioned if people get flashbacks they usally die, i just know you thought about that comment in that sec xD
8:23 R.I.P Somebody got caught red handed
9:19 JACOB IS THE WEREWOLVE, EDWARD IS THE VAMPIRE SIR!
21:02 With empty he basically meant that because hinata is "not well knowledge" in volleyball, it's kind of way of calling him stupid too in that way, that's why the coach apologized in his head to hinata haha
I dont know twilight well I'm sorry... 😂😂
@@lachyywhite add it to your list then mister! (I'm kidding, twilight defintly isn't for everyone)
Been waiting for you to see the split step scene since you mentioned it wayyyy back then lol
The way I interpret what Tsuki thought is that Hinata tries so hard that whenever Tsuki sees him he feels like he's being left behind if he doesn't do something.
when you mentioned "split step" on one of your previous reactions, i just know 😂 i knew you're really gonna enjoy season 4
when tsukki was looking at him, its kinda like when other players watch a match between 2 great players/teams. the match is so good, you also feel restless just watching them, you also want to play the game, something like that.
basically when he saw hinata trying so hard, he also felt the need to work harder. but its tsukki so 😭😂
Tsuki be like how dare you make me want to play volleyball during volleyball camp 😠
Glad we finally got to that split step :D So many things you just talked about over this time that come through xDD
Nah I would subscribe for that again if I could :D Even Lachy has a character arc in this show :D
Dont worry I am leaving my coach defense for when this arc is over :D
Lachy out here practicing his All-Might laugh xDD
Basically what Tsukki said is "Whenever I see Hinata I cant help but feel motivated to try harder"
Anyways, not much to share today so I am looking towards the next one :3
I've been practicing my Almight laugh in the mirror
I appreciate you legends, that means the world! 👑
i dont think its unreasonable to send hinata home for the night. i imagine everyone had to get parental permission and waviers and stuff signed to attend the camp, non of which hinata would have. would proabably be a major insurance liability having him there
This may not be obvious, but the younger coach at the camp is Coach Anabara, the new coach at Johzenji, the "crazy athletic" school from season 2 that loves 2-on-2 play. He's an ex-alum at Shiratorizawa, so knows Coach Washijo. The entire "camp for first years" was his idea.
See there is a notification >> get food and drink >>> watch . OH YEEEEHH HAIKYUU DAYY 🔥🔥
See this is one of the reasons I always will praise your reactions, you know what the hell you are talking about!!!
Noooo, don't apologise for sharing thoughts and feelings 🥺 I loved it ❤
I knew about split step from watching goalkeepers in soccer do it right before and attacker is about to shoot, I just didnt know what it was called or the details
Damn, it's insane how good Tsutomu is when you consider he is only 1st year. I think he will be a true monster, even bigger than Ushiwaka in his 3rd year.
Also don't spoil me people, i'm anime only 😅
There's a video out there where a guy was being taught to return tennis serves from pros or semi pros. First thing they taught him was the split step.
I don’t think they do explain it. But the tuski qoute is about him being naturally more lazy/ energy conservative. But seeing hinata makes him want to work hard too.
100% rate of reacters assuming Tsukki will give Hinata food.
dang got me good
@@lachyywhite I've seen a LOT of reactions to this episode, so it's just funny to me how everyone makes that same assumption.
I appreciate you legend 👑 that means the world
So I don't know if anyone else has explained the situation with the animation quality this season so I'll try: There was a 3 year break between the season 3 & 4.
Lol when you mentioned the split step episodes ago i had the same face as you did in this ep hahaha
OMG I REMEMBER!!! I was so confused hahah
5:33 I've never expected to see a split-stepgasm
It just came out of me sorry
Atsumu crumbs... I am fed for now, can't wait to see him more next episode ;_;
With that said our boy is like 16 😭
Like Washijo said, if he doesn't like it he can leave.

Sad my commend didn't pop up but I'm glad you remember putting others ' comments hyping up the split step. Shit this is too funny.
There was so many I couldn't fit them in the time frame I'm sorry! People where waiting for so long tho hahah
Tsuki and Kunimi walking out..NOT even a minute of hasitation!hahaha nope, we are done. Nope, byeeeee hahahahah
Please stop apologizing for the last episodes story time, at least for me I i really am thankful to hear other people experience and learn from them 😊 thank you man
I appreciate you legend 👑
I know right! It's the first time that a clear consequence of Hinata's actions is emphasized and shown. People couldn't even understand that.
I was so happy you're finally meeting atsumu (my fav character) and then I realized... you're gonna hate him😭
i promise you the animation wont get to unwatchable levels LOL theres definitely a couple episodes in particular where you can tell that they were working off of like 0 budget but for the most part, like you said, its fine because you're so engrossed in the story!! budgeting/covid issues aside i really like the new style :] i like the old one too but this one feels more like the manga and i think everyone looks cute :')
practisee!!
you are being unfair to old sensei. yes you are right he might be petty but on the other hand what responsibility does he have for someone who sneaks in your school uninvited?
If Hinata decides to stay here starving and sleep on the floor or not knowing if someone is willing to help him out then Washijo wouldnt barge in to kick him on the street (ofc this last bit is hypothetical as we cant confirm it or deny it)
love the reaction as always and btw no double episodes?
Only single episodes atm I'm sorry legend
