Chlorine, aka bleach, is used in most city water and pools. So even if you don't like to use bleach to disinfect a drinking glass, there's a good chance there's chlorine in the water anyways lol.

The lustreware S&P set has a mustard pot. My mom collected S&Ps in the '50s and she had a few of those, which are mine now. I was wondering why all the mustard pots were so small, and an Australian lady here on TH-cam explained that it was for the spicy mustard made from dry mustard, spices and a little liquid as a condiment for meat. The sets came with tiny spoons, which are usually missing in sets found today. I love the one you found!

@@anorangeapeach2157 Yes, that's about it - I use it as a medical grade antiseptic. I find that if I cut myself, the first thing I do is run straight for the bathroom, so that's the logical place for me to keep the alcohol. I suppose if I were accustomed to running to the kitchen sink instead, I'd keep the alcohol there. And I keep it in a bottle with a pour spout so I never have to struggle trying to stop a bleeding finger and open a bottle at the same time. And those salad oil spouts are very good - the alcohol is immediately available, but it never evaporates. It works for me, but I guess everyone has their own way of doing things...

“It has to be an old box to be a good hoarding box!” Haha, that’s the only way! I was on the hunt for a new box for my ever-growing coin collection for months until I found a suitable option at my local Goodwill. It’s a square wooden box, fully removable lid (not a huge fan of hinged lids on my hoarding boxes lol), hand-painted with pears and apples and signed “JMH 78.” A bit moldy, polished it up, and I’ve got a nice old box for $1!

Regarding the small greenish-blue vase that Sue picked up - I kept one that size, when my kids were younger and they would pick wildflowers for me, like dandelions. The stems would be very short and the tiny vase was perfect. Kind of a niche market, though.

Cleaning clear glass - warm water and efferdent denture cleaning tablet. Soak until bubbles stop and longer if necessary. Repeat as needed. I've used this method for years and it works very well UNLESS glass has corroded or etched on inside over time. DO NOT use on painted clear glass. Often times the red gold combo is painted. Good luck.

No ! Only use a dark glass for evoo. If it’s clear it ruins the oil.

For as much as you poo-poo milk glass- the milk glass ash tray is making you over $150 (last I saw) on ebay! I bet if you picked out any one of those more substantial milk glass pieces and said how much you liked it- it would do the same 😊

If you have a bottle kind of item and it needs to be cleaned, put some soapy water, warm inside the bottle and then put some uncooked rice inside, then shake it around. The rice will scrub the inside of the item where you can't reach well. It works quite well.
