*Explosion meter starts filling up* "Okay so overdrive is warming up..."
To be fair the icon is very misleading
19:47 When it comes to the housing districts you only need 3 tiles to get the heat bonus. So the optimal thing to do is 3 tiles in the valley, and the rest up on the rim. That doubles the amount of districts you can have with the wind-shelter bonus.
It also lets both those districts share heat, further reducing the hot to your heat budget.
If u never played the first one u should still try it it is completely different experience and still is a great game
i liked the 1st one but honestly im unsure about the 2nd. not saying its bad just that its not up my alley. it seems to lean into the political side a lot more and honestly im quite burned out on politics from irl :/ still wish them success tho even if i most likely wont get it :)
@@Ntwister i get it, i loved the first one because of its atmosphere and the survival aspect however i think fp2 is a great sequel
More micro with less politics and more power yes for the sale of right now get it if possible with the last autumn dlc at least great scenario.
@@Ntwister the first one was re establishing civilization. the 2nd one as is with any civilization, is to thrive. And population, are fking difficult.
The first one, together with extreme difficulty. It was hell out of min max game.
This is vastly different from the first game. Well done, devs
yes the focus now is city management and not survival at any cost, still is good to know the brutal difficulty is still there.
Yes the whole thing evolved too like machines and stuff instead of workers I like that
@@Jamesmor999 back to the good ol human greed
Beautiful game but the UI is atrocious.
I was surprised by how different it is which I suppose could be a good thing given I couldn't think of what they could add to the original formula.
In frostprunk, pausing and reading is your friend
nuhh uh, child labor saw dust is ur frend
Nuhh uh, automatons and food outposts are your friend
pausing? what is this, easy mode?
@@maxpower8549 listen pausing is crucial in the game trust me you will need it unless your trying a realistic run and plus it’s impossible to not pause if your selecting a district or hun or anything construction and council meetings and researching stuff.

@Noncredible it was even better than I expected it to be, and I know how good Stupes is
Welcome to Frostpunk! You usually always lose your first round, and proparly your second one.
your third one does very well until at a drop of a hat it all goes horribly wrong. horribly fast.
Until like your 10th attempt, where actually goes decently well
I can't believe how creative the devs are! They somehow managed to make the start feels like the end of fp1, but expended way further beyond the initial rounded valley. I'm loving the early look of this
This is much bigger in scale than the first game. No more individual buildings it seems, just giant districts. I just hope we get the option to build more heating sources around the city to manage the cold better. Now we just need to see rce expand more and survive.
The way they set up feels like starting from where you left off in Frostpunk 1. The core district and basics of survival gets taken care of, now the goal is to survive and thrive.
@@LightningRaven42 and of course, become a dictatorship :D
You should definitely create a series on this game, it seems super fun. Like Timberborn but with a new game, new songs, no beavers.
I can't believe the old Winterhome Dreadnought lasted 30 years.
That's 30 years longer than intended/designed/believed!
To be fair, with even some level of maintenance, many large warships and such have maintained operational status for longer than that IRL. And as long as you only want it to stay afloat and be able to power itself, you can get by with even less maintenance, with corrosion actually being one of the big things to worry about.
The dreadnought (whether it is the Winterhome one or not) didn't need to worry about the corrosion stuff as much since it was a "land dreadnought." The biggest concern may have been more along the lines of the massive steampunk wheels/treads and drive systems lasting that long, but as it turns out, this dreadnought appears to have been immobile for some time, so perhaps it eventually did run into issues. But even IRL, powerplants can last a long time as long as you replace parts here and there. And with this being a steampunk setting, everyone is a wiz at making parts and using them to replace other parts (they were able to build automatons from whatever tech and blueprints they brought with them to the generators originally).
So given their technological capabilities, its actually perfectly reasonable that they not only kept the old girl running, but at some point actually modified its engine to use oil instead of coal (presumably, they ran out of coal in the area near it sometime after it stopped being able to move).
16:43 Yup, the game is about failling miserably. The first game has to be one of the most anxiety inducing games I've ever played. The game is just brutal.
0:15 This must not be a sequel to my expedition in the first game. Because, you know, they're still alive.
Its good to see the game played by someone why actually has the mind for this kind of game. They gave early access to some other people and its clear that they're not the type of people for this game.
i bet one of the newer DLCs for FP2 will be managing the crumbling british empire before the winter
also 290 likes proves that they must add that into the game
With the 2nd dlc being a snow piercer endorsed release
+
@@ksptm4 what do you mean by this?
No because it’s based 30 years after the storm why would they go back?
Oh no the old people are freezing should we cut the winter fuel allowance.....
The lovely lovely Frostpunk experience: You try to help. You try your best. Everyone dies or you get expelled. Cant wait for the release of Frostpunk 2. Im not sure about the frost breaking system though. Will see once the game releases.

Love the video mate.
C'mooooon Matt, play the first one! It's awesome! The guys from 11 Bit deserves a series. :)
I have no idea how you can play this game with no sound, or if it was basically edited out. The ambience is half the game.
Meh, I always play without sound.
Its just really quit
@@walkir2662Fellow silent gamer. Sounds just makes me dizzy except on some games.
There is sound, it's just not very loud and he's very loud.
Ah, good old New London. Been a while.
I highly recommend checking out the first game. Will give you a much better perspective on the setting and all its peculiarities, like the automaton walkers you spotted. Also the struggle to even get where we are at this point, because in the first game you had to fight for every single citizen and essentially define a society from the ground up.
We will never forget the sacrifice of little Timmy, who gave his life so we all could live when he managed to fix the furnace with his small hands!
RCE : -30 degrees, thats cold

IT'S THE DREADNOUGHT FROM WINTERHOME!!! I KNEW IT SURVIVED!!
how do we know for sure it's the same Dreadnought? Sure, I'd love it to be. But considering the context clue of the Frozen Scout from New london, it seems more likely that this was the broken-down Dreadnought near New London itself which, if I recall, also said something about a weird bridge... kinda like what happened here
EDIT: Nevermind, through rewatching the video, a more important con-text clue shows itself indicating how it is more likely to be the Winterhome DN
@@lanteanboy Ooh, hang on, what's the context clue?
I watched the whole video (rewatching it now), but I can't quite pin down what makes it likely to be the Winterhome Dreadnought.
Was it the fact that they said the Dreadnought had saved them from many whiteouts before? That would make sense; Winterhome fell 30 years ago, and there have obviously been plenty of whiteouts since then.
@@HellfireActual bingo, there's also the fact that I,m pretty sure the "canon" amount of Survivors to climb on the Dreadnought was less than the 5000 we could get and this is a civilization of 3000. Although it IS possible that these Wanderers are a different bunch of Survivors who stumbled on the Dreadnought I first mentioned after the First Great Storm. I'm just hoping like everyone that it's Winterhome's survivors though.
@@lanteanboy I think the most likely option is probably a combination of the two?
The Winterhome survivors could've picked up other survivors over the course of the 30 years they've survived. Factor in births, survivors, and 3000 people is... possible?
Still epic that we are (probably) seeing what became of Winterhome. I always wondered what happened to their Dreadnought after I loaded 800 people on it and sent it into the cold unknown...
No you find out the winterhome dreadnought is somewhere else, you rescue the survivors later down Right next to Winter home when exploring further into the story
Edit: but you're right they did survive
I’ll be missing this one out as it’s probably my most anticipated game releases ever. Don’t forget to wear your hard hat when building that bridge
I failed the prologue because my stockpile was full and I didn’t know I needed multiple. It was only on the last week I saw “Food Stockpiles Full” on the objective 🤦♂️
You should really give the 1st game a try. It really is worth it I still play it to this day and try to get all the achievements on survivor mode.
Oh my GOSH I've loved the first game and have been following development of this for so long, I did NOT think RCE would play it.. My favourite gaming youtuber playing my favourite game
I just completed the prologue and i would like to say, his problem on the first attempt was not utilizing all his available work force.
At the very start you can take scrap from you people immediately and than send everything out to frostbrack on both sides of the dreadnought bridge.
Once he lost people to freeze things just snowball (pun intended).
He did have enough people to cut ice and harvest material. By that point the seals weren't going to save ya.
For me my group didn't like me but i didn't lost a single man .
Completing this game as a popular leader doesn't matter if you're not lazer focused on the tasks.
In FP1 I always favored Housing Insulation, in higher temperatures you can really save on coal this way!
Frostpunk 1 is a masterpiece. Would recommend playing it. Also dirt cheap currently
"The storm is coming the storm came the storm wille come again"
tempest upon tempest till what's left to let the tundra claim?
you should try FrostPunk 1 too!!
“So I’m going to give this bridge-“
“4.7”
“-a 3.7 out of 10!”
“Goddamnit!”
One day haha
I actually called it *once* in one of the Terratech worlds videos! Hasn’t happened before or since! 😆
There should be a compilation of all the bridge reviews
Personally I would've given that bridge a 3.4 out of 10, but perhaps I slightly undervalued the future heating potential
We need a longer series with this!!!!
"wintery desert" Applause!
Am serious. Extreme cold does cause deserts because it is too cold for precipitation! In snowpiercer series, there is an episode discussing that. Where scientist gets all worked up because was fresh snow.
ew the snowpeircer show. irrelevant as anyone who paid attention in highschool geology knows what a desert is. my teacher had an entire week dedicted to teaching us how antarctica is a desert. that was over a decade ago.
Since RCE did practice run on timberborn, now he can go for 4 or 5 season of FP2 since the 3 or 4 first will not make it past episode 5.
Will be good videos of "What not to do in FP2" !
The first Frostpunk may not be bad for that, actually. There are multiple scenarios after all.
Honestly starting a frost punk video with a bridge review is *chef kiss*
Oh my goodness. I cant believe it. Make a series. Please
Please
The first game was incredible. This one seems great too
Frostpunk is such a great game but it gets challenging real quick
So some advice grabbing all the nodes all at once is a bad idea, decentralising is very much not advised you want to pack things in close so they share heat and give adjacency bonuses.
As long as the Industrial and Mining Districts aren't next to the Housing District.
Looks like a great game! I hope that that there's more flexibility within the democracy area so that it doesn't become a one lane stream in order to grow your city and beat the game. For instance, adaptation of the people if you choose to lead as a tyrant or a savage, ruling over the people through fear. Not a particular nice way of playing as, but an option nonetheless ^^
I'm sure you've noticed that Satisfactory has gone from early access to its full release! I hope that you are planning on testing some mythbusting to see if the developers has changed things that didn't work out for you in previous episodes, like the water pipes! Also, it would be nice if you put one episode here on youtube 🤗I miss the awesome bridge you built there!
The full democracy system is quite good, I think. It's not necessarily realistic but it offers interesting gameplay which is much more important.
HELL YES!
I always wanted Matt to play the first frostpunk and am super hyped for the sequel
Hey Matt, I saw this game that looks really cool called "bridge constructor, the walking dead." It looks a lot like poly bridge but with zombies. I don't have it, but it looks like a game you would enjoy playing and some might enjoy watching.
Am I the only one who heard Matt say "oil wagon" in the beginning of the video, then heard him saying "G-Wagon, G-Wagon, G-Wagon, G-Wagon, G-Wagon, G-Wagon..." over and over in their head?
The first game was brutally hard at times. Cant wait for this one.
i loved the 1st game. the changes they have made make me very excited, big fan of the council/law change
Oh my, FROSTPUCK is my favourite game. Though tried to save everyone in the first playthrough, but getting excelled by losing too many residents. :(
Can't wait to watch another episode of FrostyPunk2 Engineer Mayor POV.
I never thought you'd give frostpunk a shot! If you haven't played the first game i recommend it even more!
I hope you continue this series
Huge Frostpunk fan, looking forward to the release.
calling an Automaton an Robotic horse xD
i mean... he is not wrong...
PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER VIDEO OF THIS, it looks so fun and interesting. I love your videos and i am thinking of buying this and i just wanna see a bit more what else there is, but very interesting and fun video you made
I am honestly enjoying this, you are keeping the waiting out of it and that is what normally frustrates me with these types of games! This is Beavers on Ice HARDCORE!
I liked the first game, and this looks like they've made a lot of cool changes/improvements for the new one.
I love the original game and I’ve heard nothing about this one so I’m really happy I saw your video!
Please do another one of these! I really enjoyed it 🤞🏽
Game looks incredible.
Made a game about your grandparents "Back in my day!" childhood.
Omg I can't believe you're playing this. I've seriously been thinking for the last few weeks that frostpunk would be perfect for you to play. It's even got engineers! Also didn't know there was a sequel, so I'm glad to it.
this game is so cool, it makes my brain not stop thinking 24/7
Loved the first game so much, very excited for second one!
This video is super effective, glad the devs gave you a key
I would love to see more of this from you RCE!
Your thumbnail artist is doing a great job.
WE NEED A LETS PLAY OF THIS
You absolutely need to check out the first game. It has multiple bridges to review!
Pre-ordered this game cause I loved the first one so much. Can't wait for it to be released. Added this video to my watch later list to avoid any spoilers !
Please make this a series🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
"This is a cool game"
I think the word you're looking for is "cold", maybe even "frozen".
The first one is on sale on steam for $3 until the 21st. Goty edition with all of the dlc is $11 and change.
it seem like they reduce micro a lot but you really need to plan your move. it like you need almost a week to frost break and another week for building.
if you keep doing the wrong thing at the wrong time you will just lose the city
Hey Matt, take a look at the city of Palmas in the state of Tocantins in Brazil. It's the most symmetrical capital city in Brazil and I think you'd love to replicate it in Cities (lots of roundabouts)
"Gentlemen, it's a heating device. Time is running out. T-t-t-t-time is running out."
-Paraphrasing Frank Klepacki's Blow It Up
good old frost punk lol XD remind me of day 1 of the first game lol you fix 1 thing everything else fall a part! I am liking how the game is looking.
The happy music overlaying what is sure to be the most stressful game I will ever play
20:16 That is an automaton. Introduced in a dlc in the first game, they were basically one of the best possible assets you could acquire, able to continue operating in lieu of human labor even during the final and coldest storm of the story campaign.
17:48 as a fellow engineer this killed me 😂
The first rule of basically all the games like this is, you CANNOT charge ahead at full speed unless you know exactly what you're doing. Everything requires resources, whether that's materials or time or energy of the workers which needs food to replenish. Everything COSTS, so you need to do things at a measured pace. Stabilize, expand, PANIC PANIC PANIC EVERYONE PANIC, stabilize, repeat.
so i guess in FP3 they will go underground like dwarves, maybe with heated cupolas for plants..
on the other hand you can make uv light with an arc...
This frost punk one and two might come out on the powerful switch 2 with the update software and hardware that can play fast paced games with out the speed and quality dipping down to 60 fps.
What a departure form the first game. I’m all for it
Love how the bridge review was replayed through a cheap VHS player.
In fairness, that would be more advanced than what the people in this setting would have so far.
I love Frostpunk beacuse it shows the cold, harsh truth of reality.
Please make this a series
The game looks gorgeous!
I absolutely loved the first game. And looking forward to this one. My pc absolutely needs an upgrade first though 😂
Is this like that whiteout survival ad I always see?
If there is a bridge we NEED a Bridge Review!!
0:14 Tecnicly this is not classified as bridge
kibitz and rce uploading at the same time 😊
I’d love to see more of this it looks realy cool
I am so hyped for this. FP1 is one of my top games.
WHen it comes to Frostpunk 1. Even though 2 is out, I'd highly suggest anyone to go play Frostpunk 1. It's $2 as of writing this 90% off, and it is extremely good, and plays differently than Frostpunk 2. Frostpunk 2 is focused more on a grand scale after the events of Frostpunk 1, both games can be played simultaneously side by side, as while they give a similar over all gameplay arc, they do it very differently.
Frost punk one is on mobile it’s really fun for free if you don’t want to pay the full price for it,but if you don’t want to pay to win you can buy the full version on pc steam games for frost punk one and for frost punk 2 coming out soon.
Thanks. I'm not pre-ordering, but I am pretty excited for this game. Hope the Steam reviews look good by Friday...
from what I've seen so far, I'm not holding my breath...
Ohhh that's so cool! We got 2
ngl that ui looks 100x better then the beta one
