  • RCT Custom were sought after to design and manufacture a bespoke Automation Centre comprising of three Teleremote stations equipped with Multiple Machine Control, for Western Contracting’s project at Fort Wingate Depot Activity which required operators to excavate and dispose of buried, unexploded ordnance. The hardware and componentry for this project were designed and manufactured in Perth, Australia before being dispatched to RCT’s Salt Lake City office, where RCT technicians installed the solutions on new machines at Ziegler Caterpillar in Sioux City, Iowa.

Equipment operator was my trade. I would rather be seating comfortable in the environmental cab than standing outside in the elements. But I always thought that was a cool idea for dangerous situations where you had to back off 100-200 feet from the machine.

Thank you for your comment. For this project ControlMaster Teleremote enabled machine operators to effectively manage machines from a mandated 1000ft exclusion zone and excavate and dispose of unexploded ordnance. ControlMaster Teleremote was seen to be the best way to safeguard operators while completing the project

We had this in New Zealand after the earthquakes for demolishing cliff top buildings after the earthquakes. Driver sat in a helicopter flying above for a good view.

This can also be used for radioactive areas etc

Unless the radiation is to high for the electronincs. They were having problems using robots to clean up the mess at fucashima in Japan, and if japanese robot can't do it then nothing can lol. They should use these more and I can't see it being that expensive or complicated to convert them to rc especially if they controls are electronic to begin with.

Standing outside in the cold when there's a closed cab machine with climate control

Thank you for your comment. Once the machines were commissioned on RCT's Teleremote technology the machine operators were able to manage the excavators and track loaders from the safety and comfort of a concrete and steel Automation Centre. You still need an operator so why bother having it operated by remote control. Much safer if something goes wrong with the box of tricks.

Hi Bob, thanks for your comment.
ControlMaster Remote operation allows the operator to be placed in a safe location away from dangerous environments, such as unstable ground. Having the operator removed also assist in health, such as engine vibration and avoiding poor air quality. ControlMaster can even install multiple cameras allowing the operator with more vision via remote to minimise risk of machine damage. The remote also allows quick shift change, allowing production to keep moving.
The manual option is still incuded but the solution offers all the machines controls, right down to lights and horn.
      regards.
