He's most likely NOT the operator but a mechanic with the assembly crew. Our mechanics run all sorts of huge machines on the dock that they were never actually trained and certified for and the union is fine with that.

Hell yeah I would love to run it. The biggest I've ever ran was a cat 385 for 2 yrs til the company sold it along with other 385 and Hitachi 800 . I loved the 385 it was smooth quick and well balanced along with quick for its size
No different than running a compact excavator. Except it’s bigger! And that you have to be more aware of what’s around you.
