      Best music is no music at all. I m coming here to see and hear about car and tool stories, not bloomin music. That's why I like ChrisFix channel = no music and no stupid intros in his channel. There are lots of good youtube channels ruined by stupid music they mix in the videos. I just go somewhere else to avoid hassles.

    TIP: cover the outer edge of the socket with some insulating tape. This will protect the alloy wheel if you miss the bolt head when putting it onto the bolt.

    The mains powered Clarke impact wrench will get you out of trouble when the cordless jobs can't quite cut the mustard. It's got the brute force that's sometimes necessary.

    Update mine turned up yesterday used it this morning removing my Mercedes CLS 320cdi wheel bolts no hassle at all and that's on a fresh battery Draper recommend and tell you the battery will not be upto full capacity once its been depleted and charged 4 to 5 times. But so far very impressed and very happy I watched this video Respect at you fella

    Thanks for a great video James!, been considering an impact wrench for a while and your video sold it to me! Literally just received my 43785 with the 4.0Ah battery today. £137 from Amazon Prime. Awesome bit of kit, feels solid! On the one I received, the different increments of torque are marked in white print next to the LEDs 100, 150, 200, 300 and 400NM. Bought it for a Classic Vespa restoration so fingers crossed it won't snap the frame in half lol.

    You will find that your parkside batteries may fit your draper and vice versa, you may need to remove a tab, this is due to the tool being sold under several different company names as draper don’t make, design or build their own stuff.

    I have to say. It absolutely reminds me of the 1/2 inch Parkside impact driver. The design, the look and shape of the charger and the battery, that is supposedly do 400Nm. I'm 100% sure that is not made by Lidl, but rather made by Draper in different labels and colours. Would be interesting to know it those would be interchangeable between them two brands.

      I'm here for your rescue guys. I have a parkside angle grider, small impact driver (180nm) and wanted to get the large 1/2 inch drive one as well for the convenience of the batteries. I checked the Charger on the video against my charger. Sale polarity, same voltage, same amperage, same labeling. Looks 100% identical so I took the privilege to order the same Draper Impact driver as a bare body (£77 from Ebay -15% off discount) it arrives tomorrow and I will try to use it with the parkside battery. If it won't work it goes back. If it will happy days. Parkside battery £28 , Draper £50. For the 4AH ones.

    Good, honest review! I guess it’s difficult to talk about tools because they only really do one thing but on the face of it, that looks very reasonable for the money and should do most home tinkerers down to the ground👍
    At that price there is no excuse for using a wheel brace, shouting ‘ Ugga dugga’!!😂

  • @jensonsmith4804

    Love the video great bit of advice because I was thinking the same as you was. I've got the storm force drill and 1/4 hex impact what I use for under trays etc. But abit of advice for the wheel bolts when tightening them torque them up in a star shape formation and in round the clock formation and then when their all torqued up go round in circle to make sure their not lose as when you tighten the first wheel bolt it may feel tight but then when you toque the rest and pull the wheel in to the hub, the first one may still be lose. Not hating just trying to help 👍

  • @michaeltb1358
    @michaeltb1358 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just how many tools does anyone need?
    You could easily have checked the settings by tightening at each level then checking how much torque was needed to tighten nuts further. I actually have the Clarke you had. At least it came with sockets which I did not see supplied with the Draper.

    I got exactly the same tool but with the smaller battery,definitely wouldn’t shift wheel nuts ,I was so disappointed with it I took it back to the draper dealer,they gave me another and we tested it in the car park,still wouldn’t shift the nuts,I got a refund for the tool but not the charger or battery which I bought separately,so now I’ve got a battery charger and battery but no tool? I accept it’s possible the bigger battery may work,but I wasn’t advised and didn’t want to buy a more expensive battery on the of chance that it would be a failure as well,🙁

    Decided to buy one on the above vlog and watching a few others. Waste of money wouldn't shift my wheel bolts at 180Nm. It also wouldn't shift the 21mm bolts, again 180Nm on the brake calipers. These are not 400Nm impact wrenches, I recon they sent you an upgraded wrench? Yes, the battery was fully charged and on the highest setting. It still had a job to shift the wheel bolts when I cracked them with a breaker bar. Hope this helps others who may be considering this wrench.

    I would beware of cranking down lug nuts to high torque. I had a Vauxhall Frontera around 20 years ago and following a puncture, changed the wheel then cranked down the lug bolt by hand and sheared the bolt in half on one of the fasteners, had to limp home at low speed minus a tight bolt. Some vehicles recommend just 80 ft/lbs of torque on the wheels.
    Love Draper gear. The Expert range are fantastic with lifetime warranty, the socket sets are fantastic.

  • @chocolate_squiggle
    @chocolate_squiggle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, I'm wanting one of these after doing some maintenance recently. It's a pain if the car is already raised (wheels spin) etc. I've read some cheaper ones manage to get lug nuts off some of the time or most of the time, not wanting that hassle so seeing this remove 200NM gives me a better feeling about which one to go for. Just a caution I don't know how much it takes but I've read over torquing wheels can warp brake rotors etc. So I wouldn't get a bigger torque wrench and repeat this test again lol. But as I said it was really helpful to see you crack 200NM. Hope nothing was damaged. And one more thing I know it's a minor point but your 4AH battery doesn't really provide any more oomph over a 2AH battery unless the tool has some intelligence built into it. Mostly with these more basic power tools, 18 Volts 4AH is still just 18 Volts and what you've got over a 2AH is really a bigger gas tank - your tool will run for longer. I doubt it's putting out any more torque or speed. Maybe very slightly due to the individual cells being less stressed under load, but it seems a common assumption that more AH means more powerful operation and that's not generally the case. Cheers.

    I wonder if those are similar to that harbour freight impact all the yanks are raving about, just in blue plastic instead of red.
    Real test on that would probably be if it could shift an axle nut.
    I have a Ryobi 18V impact. That has been pretty good. Wheel nuts. Some suspension bolts. I even have managed to get a few axle nuts out with it although last one i had, i had to get the meter long breaker bar. Plus the batteries work in all the other 18V tools - drill, hex impact, jigsaw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, lights, grinder. etc I have been pretty happy with mine.

    • @joshonthetube
      @joshonthetube 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't appear to be similar to the Harbor Freight Earthquake model. That thing is bulkier and has significantly more torque (1200 ft lbs, though i don't think you can believe those numbers ;-) it does look more similar to another model that HF sells under their 'Bauer' brand, though they are claiming 450 ft lbs for that one.

    Have a lot of Draper tools in my arsenal, screwdrivers, spanners, ratchets and sockets. Their expert range of sockets are brilliant since they grab the sides of nuts/bolts and not the points they very rarely slip off and round them off perfect if you have some crusty bolts. I use DeWalt for my impacts though since the DCF899H has a stupid amount of torque (950Nm tightening, 1625Nm breakaway) and if it can't get a bolt undone you're gonna need some heat, not found a bolt it can't undo yet, it's even took off axle nuts with ease.

    love the blue color on tools so i love makita but draper when it comes to power tools are years behind. for 300nm this impact wrench is the same size like a makita or milwaukee with 1000-2000 nm. i don't know how much you paid for the kit but i got 12V milwaukee m12 fiwf12 1/2 socket and is rated 340nm for nut busting and at 350nm it doesn't struggle at all i tested it and it was able in 10sec to loosen at 450nm i also tried 500nm but it didn't manage and is half the size of this draper

  • @mrb1864
    @mrb1864 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You will find the draper 20V tools is same oem as the parkside 20V
    400nm is not a lot on bigger rusted bolts.
    My Nano Facom NS1600F delivers over 800+nm in a tool a 3rd the size.
    These battery impacts great mobile but in the shop nothing hits same as air and nothing as compact allowing far more usage scenario .
    Any form of impact great though, wheels and jobs like strut top nuts suddenly 5 second job .
    When it comes to real stuborn stuff the quoted 400nm won't go far though .
    A good option in UK for battery impact wrench is AEG, currently on clearance at homebase for £39 bare tool, they do nice tool range also on clearance.

      A proper DeWalt battery impact (or similar) is up there with air in terms of power. Rated for 950Nm and over 1500Nm "breakaway". Heavier and bulkier for sure, but no air line to drag around everywhere.

    • @mrb1864
      @mrb1864 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If working in a auto shop an airline really not a problem and you going be using one for other equipment .
      when mobile or construction use battery massive benefit .
      Air can far exceed those torque figures if required and in heavy comercial construction and farm equipment battery not going get you far.
      Also battery tools not so good in harsh conditions, drop it a few times, cover in oil water and dirt and air tool holds up best.
      Main reason I stick with air is modern high power nano tools like facom wrench and kuani nano reactionless ratchat such a small tool to power ratio it allows you use them in any area no access hassle and less user fatigue plus they very controllable and game changers in productivity ability, also tools like air hammer unique to air along with with a lot of other equipment .
      Love battery if mobile or at parts yard ...

    I am a huge fan of the Draper expert range I used to use snap on gear at work and we got so fed up of it breaking and having to warranty it OK the repairs for the snap on were free and we never had any trouble but it was just the waiting time to get things back that was a nightmare we decided to go with the Draper stuff which is great quality and bulletproof and is really priced sensibly I am not a lover of the Draper I think its the redline range I had a ratchet screwdriver that fell apart after very light use but the Expert range cannot be faulted I think its great gear cannot praise it enough

    Remember when putting the bolts or nuts back on to initially put them on by hand a couple of threads before tightening or you might cross thread if you just try to apply them with the gun.

    when buying cordless tools it's best to try to buy from the same range so that you can use the battery on more than one tool

    Great review i have been looking for a cordless impact wrench for a few weeks but dont want to buy expensive as i only need it for taking off lawnmower blades and as i do some on site ride on mowers it will bee easier using a cordless as well in my work shop do they still make that model you have.

    Thought you might have mentioned for safety about using the correct type of impact sockets when using the impact tools...
    Like you i have used Draper tools for years although i purchased a set of ratchet spanners from Draper that had a black finish.
    Only after using the spanners a couple of time the black finish started to chip and mark.I emailed Draper to complain and
    was given a brush off.....I no longer purchase tools from Draper.

    I think the Draper will come into it's own the next time you're undoing any really rusty suspension bolts. Those first few "ugger juggers " will break loose the rust nicely. Is it just me or does anyone else love the new plastic smell of new stuff like this?

    Hi,
    This is the 1st video I've seen of yours.
    Did you find out if it has brushes or not?
    What do they do anyway ?
    Is it better to have a brushless one?
    Do you have a review on Reciprocating Saws?

    I have the older version of this which I think is pretty much the same other than the design, great bit of kit paid about £100 on eBay brand new will do most bolts only thing I’ve had it struggle with is a front hub bolt but it was extremely tight.

    The storm force system looks fairly good value the 9 piece kit you showed is just over 500 quid, would be good to see the quality of the other tools, need a big cordless kit for a site I maintain to keep tools on site save me lugging my makita tools around. edit shame it doesn't have a planer I use those quite often.

    I bought the impact wrench, impact driver and angle grinder set.
    18 mnth on and my 3rd grinder has died. My impact wrench is stil like new (because i dont use it due to it being shit)
    But i really like the impact driver. 1 out of 3 though isnt good enough.
