The reason why you mentioned a pain in his theme is that the crown Aurelion Sol is wearing doesn't control him directly. Instead, it sends an order from The Aspects, and if Aurelion refuses to obey, the power of a crown destroys one of the stars, which is unbearable to him, since he regards each and every one as his own child.
So what Targon did Is much more evil that what it appears first. They don't just mindcontrol him, they took all of his children hostage. It must be especially infuriating, because to mortals the targonians are like gods, but to Aurelion they are just mortals who inhabit his creation.
Dunno about a child, but he does say each star is one of his hearts, I like this phrase since in his theme when you hear the star passing, it also sounds like a heartbeat.
While everything surrounding Aurelion is (fittingly) majestic, another of his facets that fans love is his sassiness. The guy's made of snark, and will hilariously and fabulously let you know how much beneath him you are.
I believe Riot stated that part of his inspiration is this very Elton John flamboyant larger than life personality. That's why he's so full of himself is cause he's just so on his own level.
@@ninjatoriumnova2483 I don't know if queer coded was part of his intenteded goals but they landed. And his voice work is my favorite in the game. Kaplan does a great job of bringing that same level of intensity to Sol. At the end of the first part of Aurelion's theme, the music goes louder and more epic, but stops immediately, becoming calm again. Sounds like he's angry and wants to break free, but the people who gave him the crown ordered him to stop and obey them. Aurelion Sol is probably my favorite character from LOL aside from Aatrox. He feels complex and believable in the way he interacts with other champions, like he REALLY is larger than life itself. His theme does have some pain in there, mostly because his existence is so lonely, and he is often forgotten by billions of worlds that he has himself created. While still maintaining his humorously cynical and sassy personality, he is more "cool" than likable, as he tends to make jokes at others expense. He feels like one of the only "edgy" champions that actually deserves respect or loyalty without having to demand it from everyone like every other wannabe ruler on Runetera. He sees Runetera as this cute and slightly interesting little marble in his collection of trillions.
"No matter what planet, no matter what galaxy, they always look up in wonder. Some fall go their knees, and worship. Others hide, behind walls and towers. But the thing they do best, is beg for mercy." "They call me a comet, they call me a dragon. They have no words for my true form." "The heavens diminish without MY attention." Hi - absolutely love your league series. One theme I haven't really seen suggested is Sylas, he has great lore and a great theme. Without getting into spoilers, you could also listen to "Demacia Rising" as Sylas' theme is linked to it. If you listen to Demacia Rising first it may spoil your inital impressions tho :) great stuff as always
As always, your videos impress. I'm looking forward to when you get to Nami's theme. It's a wonderful piece that I think you'll greatly enjoy both listening to and breaking down musically.
the three key points of Aurelion Sol that i was curious if could be found in the music were Arrogance, Imprisonment, and perhaps Rage. When you touched on hearing Pain, i realized that that is probably the representation of the Imprisonment and Rage in a way
I hope you'd do League skin lines as well since most of them has "Skin Themes" recently. Something relatively new is the "Winterblessed Theme" with the bio for the skin line titled "Tales of the Borealis".
You are correct! He is very creative and his creations in the universe are extremely important to him. I love the series I've watched every episode! I'd love to see an Aatrox reaction in the future. Keep up the great work!♥️
Aurelion sol theme is based on a star lifeline. U can hear sounds rumbling, which talks ab: the creation than the beauty of the star itself and ,obv, right after the end. Probably an end caused by an explosion or something like that, u can tell this by the "echo" and the fading effect. after this the cycle starts another time
Something not mentioned in the character description that you were right on is Aurelion Sol prides himself as an artist, creativity (exclusively his own) is very important to him. So as usual, very nice catch!
Aurelion sol: The planet doesn't matter. The galaxy doesn't matter. They always turn to the sky in wonder. some kneel down and begin to pray. others hide behind walls and towers. but what I love most about them is how they beg for mercy, it's really charming... The constellations bow before me
The actual quote reads: "No matter what planet. No matter what galaxy. They always look up in wonder. Some fall to their knees and worship. Others hide, behind walls and towers. But the thing they do best... is beg for mercy. It's just... adorable."
I don't comment a lot, but I've been following your League-related videos for a while, and always look foward to the next ones! Great analysis, as always! I would also like to recommend Taliyah's login screen. I think you'd enjoy it a lot!
It's funny how Aurelion Sol's lore resembles somewhat what happened to him in-game. I don't really know how it is after the rework, but from my understanding, the moment he was released, he was one of the most powerful characters in the entire game, while being one of the hardest champions to play overall. Considering his personality, it even makes sense that both the Star Forger and one of the most high-risk high-reward champions had all the rights to also be the sassiest champion in the game. However, just like the Celestials imprisoned Sol by making him wear that crown and benefit from him in favor of their own trivialities, Riot nerfed him a lot to the point that there's a running meme of "there are only 3 Sol mains nowadays" while making more appealing champions for the audience just as playable as ever. But just like the crown is shattering over time, times can always change for Aurelion's kit. Who knows? Someday maybe he'll return to the meta once more.
It is even better than that. The original Aurelion was a menace on the rift but not for his dueling abilities. No, the opponent in lane was barely a consideration. An afterthought to his grand design. Instead his raw, innate power would allow him to decimate the minions in his lane then venture forth like the wandering star god he is to visit devastation across the map. It wasn't just that he was hard to play but that both teams were required to make him the centerpiece of their strategy. His allies would need to enable his roaming while the opponents would have to work to suppress and contain that power. Unfortunately that meant his power was overwhelming but mostly only accessible by highly skilled players with great coordination. Making him a menace in professional play and relatively underwhelming elsewhere. It also led to a lot of games either being map wide blowouts or a slow fade into irrelevance which can be frustrating for both opponents and allies. Since those days Riot has tried to "even out" the highs and lows of Aurelion Sol's performance but I think that his first iteration was a masterful execution of the theme even if it was a balance nightmare.
omg I love this soundtrack! I was going to recommend it ages ago when you did League music but I didn't comment cause I was like nah it doesn't have any singing in it why bother
Love your content! I usually don't comment, but the clip at the start of the video of your voice acting was something i didn't know i needed until i heard it.
They way I've always interpreted the music is the notes that start at 0:27 represent or give of the feeling of oscillation/orbit that being the stars or flecks of the crown flying around galaxy. The intermittent notes of piano or harp? lol starting at 0:46 sounds like wonder/fascination or even vastness. We begin to hear drums starting around 1:03 that increase in intensity which implies the strength/power and grandeur of the universe or character. at 2:03 we get a cutoff of the immense buildup to almost silence maybe representing the empty space of the galaxy or the implication that he could destroy a galaxy to a silence and from then out we go through all those combined in the remainder of the song. I've interpreted the song as a mixture of wonder/awe, power and destruction - it's a beautiful piece of music that gives me shivers
Heyy Marco! Thanks for doing my (and probably others recommendation!), I hope you do Vel'Koz! I listened to his music and his trailer (didn't know he had them) and they're incredible! Just got my Mastery 7 on Vel'Koz too, not that you play but I got it very quickly and its a great achievement in mastering champions in League, loving his lore and his ability!
You nailed it like always! Aurelion is a star "dragon"(he just chose that form), an architect of stars and a prisoner(kinda) of an aspect of Targon. He hates them with passion because they deceived him into taking a crown which bound him to runeterra. He is VERY old, he knows A LOT and he has a BIG ego.(also canonically he is VERY powerful but he sucks in game)
You were once again right on many things, Aurelion is a creator, a being capable of creating life, stars, planets, galaxies, and he loves doing it. He is not evil at all really, just sassy and somewhat narcissistic in a sense "I'm the most glorious thing in existence" mindset is very apparent, but Targonians specifically enslaved him to use his power against The Void, which is one of (in fact many) world-ending threats Runterra is threattened with. So saying that "we enslaved him for good" is not entierly wrong, but Asol, as we like to call him, could not care less about mortal wars or aspects, and being forced to fight their wars and being "on a leash" for so darn long made him grow a pretty justified hatered to Targonians and Runterra in general, and he can't fight back because if he was to attack, one of his stars will be permamently destroyed, and since he literary puts a small piece of himself into each star, the pain he feels when it's destroyed is just the terrible. Fun fact, Azir, aka the emperor of Shurima ya heard mentioned in K'Sante story is one of The Ascended created through the knowlage and technology stolen from Asol.
I know I'm super late, but to me aurelians music sounds like a thriving and futuristic civilization that is wiped out and started from 0 that then rebuilds and becomes great again.
Can you do the Pantheon theme? It's amazing and I'd love to hear your take on it! It is the most popular theme so far and also one with a lot of room for interpretation
This is actually my fav theme and teaser from the game, you can just feel everything in it wich makes it really a perfect godlike song for a literally the creator of that universe, your reaction was amazing and again spot on your sense wont go wrong with the riots amazing music production
Hey there love your reactions, I would put the Champion Trailer first, because at least for me seeing Aurelion for the first time blind was mind blowing, since it could be just an old man trying to spread wisdom and boom Dragon. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought I mention it.
i like to envision the song as Aurelion sol slowly but surly approaching targon, and as the music continues he speeds up more and more and he starts to look more like a comet, and when the music reaches the highest intensity the targonians realize what's happening and try to stop or divert him but they find it difficult as the magic from his crown has been getting weaker but ofcourse at the end they manage to control and stop him and send him back to the stars, but i feel like the "ominous" end (atleast to me) is supposed to imply that Aurelion has gotten closer than he's ever been before... and maybe one day, he will reach Targon, and light the entire mountain afire.
Due to the fact that the Aspects made Aurelion perform tasks, he could not look after his stars, some began to fade, it filled him with sadness and suffering, then he made an oath, and the power of the oath and his sadness about the neglect of his work, weakened the power of the crown, now aurelion is looking for way to take revenge on the Aspects and fully destroy the power of the crown.
Just to clarify, all of the champions in the game are scaled down in size. Malphite and Galio are the size of small mountains in lore, and Auelion is... well we don't know for sure. He could be the size of a solar system or even a whole galaxy. Either way, he is the biggest and possibly most powerful thing in the League lore only rivaled by the Watchers. He has been enslaved by Targon because it is Runeterra's best chance at fighting back the Void. He managed to destroy a Void gate with little effort which is absolutely insane. Aurelion's true enemy is darkness. The thought of the universe being absent of light terrifies him. So really he would actually want to stop the Void. Although he does despise Targon for his enslavement. Also the disc that Targons made from his power is the Sun Disc, which is what Shurima used to make the god Warriors Nasus and Renekton among others to also be used as weapons against the Void. Aurelion also killed the previous Pantheon who was his slave master at the time. As punishment Targon destroyed one of his stars which to him is like losing a child. It is how they keep him from disobeying. However he is noticing that the crown's influence is waning over time and all he has to do now is wait and eventually he will ne free to eradicate Runeterra for what they did to him.
Now that the new Pokemon games are out I have to recommend the Area Zero and final boss themes. A good chunk of the OST from the new games was composed by Toby Fox (yes, THAT Toby Fox) and as such there is some truly stunning tracks that sound like they come from an entirely other genre, let alone franchise. Area Zero and the Final Boss are musically paired.

Hi - absolutely love your league series.
It's a wonderful piece that I think you'll greatly enjoy both listening to and breaking down musically.
im so happy that you listen this theme music of aurelion, cuz i love his music so much, inspire me so much.
You need to listen to "The Call"
Every video of a different champion means we are getting one step closer to MORDEKAISER. LESSSS GOOO, I cannot wait.
the three key points of Aurelion Sol that i was curious if could be found in the music were Arrogance, Imprisonment, and perhaps Rage. When you touched on hearing Pain, i realized that that is probably the representation of the Imprisonment and Rage in a way
1:19 There's no way, omg, you actually nailed it just by listen the first minute. You're so good man.
Probably an end caused by an explosion or something like that, u can tell this by the "echo" and the fading effect. after this the cycle starts another time
Yus, FINALLY
You had a stellar reaction to this, I loved it
swain is must listen
Thank you so much for listening!! This is probably the best score in the game imo
"I don't know what [A-sol] would be doing in Runeterra..."
yeah that's a good question you have there lol
I love the whole concept of Aurelion Sol, great video!
1. great video
2. Yorick thr shepheard of souls, great theme, great storytelling, great guy in general
Something not mentioned in the character description that you were right on is Aurelion Sol prides himself as an artist, creativity (exclusively his own) is very important to him. So as usual, very nice catch!
And to an extent, jhin impresses him as well.
"Imagine what you could do with a larger canvas."
It's just... adorable."
I really recommend irelia’s login theme :)
Yes! Irelia, Neeko, and Taliyah all have really evocative themes imo
There's a mystical sense of hope and wonder throughout this track
Loved these videos as you manage to hit the nail on the head more often than not! Highly recommend guessing Swain from his theme
I don't comment a lot, but I've been following your League-related videos for a while, and always look foward to the next ones! Great analysis, as always!
I would also like to recommend Taliyah's login screen. I think you'd enjoy it a lot!
It’s on my list!
@@MarcoMeatball Already excited!
:))))
Nice character, beautiful music and delightful voice acting. Waiting for his gameplay rework👀.
Me: I. WANT. TO. BREAK. FREE...!
I'm binge-watching all Marco's league guessing videos. I need to sleep
Already done I think
Been done! But a different format
FINALLY MY FAV CHAMPION
This is actually my fav theme and teaser from the game, you can just feel everything in it wich makes it really a perfect godlike song for a literally the creator of that universe, your reaction was amazing and again spot on your sense wont go wrong with the riots amazing music production
I liked when you would watch the introduction in the champion spotlight 😢
as always, great video and analysis mr. marco! im waiting for you to react to the shuriman ascendeds and darkins, and thanks for this amazing video!
Space Puppy! I love his theme so much!
would be fun to see you react to voicelines tbh. Some of them are a lot of fun and you would have more insight i imagine.
Hey there love your reactions, I would put the Champion Trailer first, because at least for me seeing Aurelion for the first time blind was mind blowing, since it could be just an old man trying to spread wisdom and boom Dragon. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought I mention it.
Thanks the point is doing it based off the music 😂
@@MarcoMeatball Yeee I guess, fair enough, forgor about that part, well.
i like to envision the song as Aurelion sol slowly but surly approaching targon, and as the music continues he speeds up more and more and he starts to look more like a comet, and when the music reaches the highest intensity the targonians realize what's happening and try to stop or divert him but they find it difficult as the magic from his crown has been getting weaker but ofcourse at the end they manage to control and stop him and send him back to the stars, but i feel like the "ominous" end (atleast to me) is supposed to imply that Aurelion has gotten closer than he's ever been before...
and maybe one day, he will reach Targon, and light the entire mountain afire.
Really like ur reaction! Waiting for renata glasc's, nilah's, akshan's theme.
Next : pentakill
Really love the vid again great work! I can recommend the themes of Aatrox the Darkin blade and Mordekaiser the iron revenant
Fantastic video! You made me appreciate LOL music even more! Thanks man! BTW, it would be great for you to check Irelia's theme eventually
just a suggestion but you should definitely do Taliyah, she's got one of my favorite themes and I think it says a lot about her
In lore, trailers ang other media: A vengeful cosmic dragon
In game: A sassy space dragon
the mystery and vast of the song
Waiting for Kled
"Not exactly the nicest deity ever"
I mean... I can't really blame him...
I usually don't like reacting videos but your reaction just hits different :D I can feel how you really put your emotion while listening to a song. Keep up the good work, also not sure if anyone has suggest this before from League but could you listen to Gangplank's themes? :D He has 2 themes and his backstory was really well-done
He’s being edited rn ;)
Man, I enjoy your videos so much. If you could also dive in to the languages they sing, and provide some meaning that'll be helpful. Even if u quickly read an external source. He, he. I've sung in a choir so I know we can pick up a thing or two from Latin (and other languages) but I don't expect a full/detailed translation. Just a slight reference 😊🤙🏽 at the end of videos so we can enjoy -first- what u usually do. Again, thanks for your hard work.
A cosmic dragon that has stars for hearts so interesting.
I love your reactions, hope you'll keep reacting to league music and other video game music/soundtracks. I also hope that one day you'll reach Veigar's music (known as 'Tiny Masterpiece of Evil') from league as he is my fav champ. Theres currently 162 champions so take your time :)
We’re going through all of them!
Will you watch "The Call" cinematic video? It is one of my favourites by far and the music is just... Wow.
I wish you would react to ''Gap'' from Hans Zimmer in relation with Dark Phoenix from the Marvel Universe in the same way you do with league champions.. I think it's a pure masterpiece of a soundtrack and it fits perfectly what dark phoenix is in the lore of Marvel. But that is a long soundtrack. There is other Hans Zimmer soundtracks I wish you would check but ''Gap'' is very much underrated
yea but this is a video game channel!
@@MarcoMeatball aww well i tried.. i thought it was more about the lore than the games themselves
Youre actually close or even spot on
Powerful
