I agree Charles Olivera is a very respectful fighter. He lost a clost fight and yet he kept going after arman to handshake him but Arman was busy up the cageside to his corner.

Good for Arman making sure he can prepare well for his next shot at Islam. He won over Charles, not an easy thing to do so all props to him. But relative to where Islam is right now skillwise and peaking in power, that performance by Arman shows he needs more preparation. I'm a Makhachev fan, I would always prefer to see his opponents at their best against him.
So far, imo Arman and Volk were the only ones who showed good takedown defense vs Islam's style. And between the two, Arman seem stronger and more comfortable competing in the realm where Islam dominates. This fight w/ Olives also showed he's been studying some team Eagle pinning and ground pressure techniques from Islam's match w/ Olives.. so he's on to a great start preparing to take on the challenge.

Honestly, no athlete who takes their career seriously should take a fight on 3 weeks notice after you just made weight and went 3 rounds at the time of notification. Just my opinion. Cutting weight again that soon is no bueno and gives him zero time for a proper camp.

It was actually 7 weeks not 3 weeks, Tsarukyan fought on April 13th and he was offered Islam for June 1st right after his fight 👍
Most fight camps are 6 weeks. Some guys do 8. Arman does 8. It’s short notice for him but just enough time for most. He thinks he can rest and he’ll be guaranteed the winner but this lightweight division is crazy now with max in the picture and Connor always teasing. He could be making a big mistake. Plus most people don’t even know who he is or care for him.

@@Newacc8765 because one IS the champ and the other one is fighting to take it from him, the division doesn’t only have you two in it, it’s very competitive, so once you get the opportunity to fight for the title you take it, especially at 7 weeks out, and don’t forget, he’s been training for Charles for the past two months, which technically makes him quite fit even before he starts the new camp.. once you become the champ you can relax (relatively) because everyone is after you, not the other way around, no matter what happens everyone will want to fight you, but if you’re a contender and you don’t take the fight, you’re turn will be given to someone else. Especially since you’re only one week off from having a full training camp. He should have taken the fight after all the hate that he was spewing about Islam. He says Islam is avoiding him at all costs because he’s afraid to lose to him m? but once reality kicks in, it seems like the one avoing the fight fight is Tsarukyan👌

While Arman beats both Dariush and Oliviera, and you need to rush him in just like with Volk. I am glad Arman is thinking the same because the guy wants to be recovered and fresh when he steps in for the biggest fight in his career.

Islam annihilated Charles submitting him in round 2 whereas Tsarukyan almost got choked out and won by split decision. How do you think he can beat islam? He is the best counter striker in his division and is also the least hit fighter.

You gotta be fair to Arman. He believes he lost due to it being short notice. If he takes it short notice again and loses he won't get another shot for years. He wants a full camp and if Volk took that same approach and respect to Islams skills maybe he'd still be champ
Arman ALREADY faught Islam on short notice without a full training camp. Why would he do it again? Arman has always said if he had a full training camp things would have been different that first fight, and he wants to prove that, and this is the only way to do it. We all saw what happened to Volk when he took on Islam too soon...
If his fight with Charles in which he had a full fight camp is anything to go by he’s gonna get crushed by Islam.
Islam is a better striker than Charles. He proved that when he went blow for blow with volk and not only dropped Charles but also following him down to sub him.
Sadly for arman, Islam doesn’t only have submissions on the ground like Charles, he has actual ground and bound. He’s going to get outclassed in every way. This will just be hill vs Alex all over again.

Chael you have this all wrong. Not sure if personal bias is blinding you or not but athletes have a fight camp for a reason and just because they are good wrestlers doesnt dismiss the fact that they too need a full camp. I personally think Arman TSARUKYAN made a wise and mature decision to not underestimate his opponent who by the way is arguably one of the best light weights we have seen. If your doing it for clicks then job well done if not then I dont think you have given an accurate or fair description...

Totally get Tsarukyan’s decision and argument for needing a full camp. But in this business things change FAST, and we’ve seen this happen so many times before - When you’re the no.1 contender and they give you a date for a title fight you best take it because that opportunity might pass and you could be on the sidelines for a very long time. Even Dana said this many times before. It might not be fair but that’s how things work.
First, when you’re the contender you fight when the champ is ready to go, not when you’re ready.
Second, things can go sideways for Arman if Dustin wins, they might do a rematch with Islam, or if Islam wins and gets injured then it’s also potentially 1.5 years of Arman not fighting for the title or having to fight another contender to stay active. Or Conor comes back and wins by knockout and calls for a title fight at 155. You best believe they will kick Arman to the curb.
So again, while I understand his decision it would be naive to not think his decision comes with many inherent risks in his pursuit of the belt.

actually they didnt have anyone to fight islam with.....so they tried to ask for arman if he accepts the fight but they had poirier and Islam as confirmed Bout....

I don't "like" Charles Oliviera. It's complicated. But I know he's a great fighter. There was something I noticed about him Saturday night which I have never noticed about any other fighter before. Charles' flexibility is insanely good. For a dude with such long limbs, he can contort into all sorts of crazy positions when he's grappling. It's weird. I thought he looked amazing against Tsarukyan.

I am with Arman with this one 100%. Why would he rush to fight the champ after just 2 months when Islam till June will be good 8 months away from the fight with Volk where he did not even suffered injury or damage. Arman is smart fighter and he already fought at short notice, but with title fights you need full camp and recovery to be at 100%, not like Volk who possibly ruined his career.

Chael, Arman turned down Islam twice now, this wasn’t the first time. Islam was supposed to fight Beneil but he had to pull out due to an injury and they offered Arman to step in against Islam, he said no.
Tbh Tsarukyan is the dark horse of the division since a long time. After beating Oliveira and Darjush he deserves a title shot with a full camp. No doubt about it, the kid is legit and a real challenge for Islam. Poirier sells PPVs but isnt as good as Oliveira, Darjush or Tsarukyan.

Arman Sarkarian is a Legend!
I knew Arman wasn’t going to get the fight as soon as he had a kinda lackluster win over Charles and as soon as he got on that mic and said absolutely nothing of urgency or intrigue. He can say “I won the fight fuck that I want to fight Islam blah blah blah” but it doesn’t actually get you the fight, least of all when you’re getting booed and he didn’t do anything with that he just ignored the booing. That being said I think Charles could sooner get the fight with Islam than Arman can and I think it’s just because Arman is not that interesting.
Hearing Arman might’ve turned down the fight is legitimately worse too and I almost wish I didn’t even see this video now because that absolutely does hurt my perception of Arman as a competitor. In my head I just took both Charles and Arman off the pecking order and put Justin back up there despite losing just last weekend. If these guys DONT want the fight then the UFC at least in my opinion should only be offering it to the guys who do want it. Why waste both the audiences and the athletes time because Islams opponents are afraid? Thats not fair to any of us really.
Lightweight is like 2 divisions, there is the show division with Holloway, Gaethje and Poirier and the serious contender side with Oliveira, Darjush and Tsarukyan who are actually a challenge for Islam.

Islam is better everywhere than Tsarukiyan - striking, grappling, submission, championship experience. Tsarukiyan never looks convincing when he calls out Islam at all
