Q: How do I solve it if two unsolved edges are across from each other?
A: Same as normal parity. Just do the parity algorithm, and then solve edges normally from there. Technically there is a straightforward algorithm for it, but this tutorial is meant for beginners who just want to be able to solve it; if you want that algorithm or any others, this site is quite good: bit.ly/2gitcTm
Q: What if I have 3 edges unsolved?
A: Exactly the same as what I showed in the video; just instead of reducing both layers from 3 unsolved to 2 unsolved, reduce one from 3 to 2, and the other from 0 to 2. Then, you have 2 pairs of unsolved edges, and can do the algorithm normally to solve the rest.
Q: How do I solve insert case here edge permutation case? You didn't show it in the video!
A: There are 99 EP cases, so there's no way I should show them all. Just use the technique I showed in the video to reduce the cube to either a solved cube or the parity case. You're going to need to use some intuition and puzzle-solving skills for this step, so don't worry if you don't get it immediately! Just keep trying!
Q: Which way do I turn when you say slash? Clockwise or counterclockwise?
A: It doesn't matter; it's a 180 degree turn, so it accomplishes the same thing either way!
Q: How am I supposed to follow this? You go way too fast!!
A: I went over notation for a solid two minutes, so, considering the algs are both onscreen and in the description, you really shouldn't even need to see me actually perform them (although I do anyway). If it's too fast for you, pause the video and do the algorithm onscreen, or slow down the video via the cog in the bottom right section of the player (if you're not on mobile).
Q: Your algorithm for insert step here doesn't work! My puzzle literally can't do the moves.
A: I get your frustration, and I know that Square-1 notation is hard to get used to. However, I am 100% certain that every algorithm in the video and description is written correctly, as I have checked many times. I'd recommend you spend more time watching the notation part of the video and practicing that before you move on to actually doing the algs. Also, once you are doing the algs, make sure you're following the instructions in the video exactly. If you do the same exact thing as I did, you won't have any issues.

I feel like sq-1 is one of the hardest wca puzzles to teach. It's a lot of "move this like this" and "experiment to find out how to do it" but you did a really good job explaining it! nice job!

Does anyone know how to make a 1x1 corner cut better? I tried changing the tension and lubing it but it just doesn't work. Should I get another one?
definitely get a new one. You must have gotten a crappy brand 1x1 because newer brands are definitely able to corner cut great.

Look up 1x1 Speedcube on Amazon. The tensions are already perfect and they have 45° corner cutting and reverse corner cutting. They come with Lubix and are very easy to use. Hope this helps!

it helps you so much when you know how to solve 3x3x2 in the corner part because if there is 1 white corner and 3 yellow then you align the last pieces that need to be orientated then you do mis-align the top layer and just do the 3x3x2 corner step.

Easy parity: (/3,3/1,0/4,-2)/(-4,2/-1,0/-3,-3)
Leaves you with a diagonal corner swap on bottom but when you finish edge permutation again you won't have parity. Tip for memorization: the second bit in parentheses is just the first bit, but inverted.

Got this for Christmas(with magnets!) and spent hours yesterday to solve it intuitively without any tutorials or algs. Got surprisingly far but got stuck with the parity. I think I have cheat now and watch this.

THX I SOLVED IT I TOOK WEEKS TRYING TO SOLVE MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT
So I solved this puzzle with no help and no tutorial, and a long time later I thought I would try solving it again. Nope. I came so incredibly close. From five edges that need to move around, four edges and even three edges that need to swap like the appearance of the triple edge swap of the Rubiks cube. So frustrating.
Then I got something you can’t get on most cubes. A two edge swap. Wtf?! Then I had to learn the name of this cube so I can find this tutorial!
Anyway, I really hope this works. You are awesome.

Also, to orient and permute some of the pieces, I have to flip the middle slice using your algorithm and it takes up a substantial amount of time. Do you have any tricks for that too?

Can you use U D and R for the algorithm because i can barely read sq1 algorithms
No. I would need to use things like U4, D2', and things like that; the Us and Ds are implied/redundant. It's hard to get used to reading Square-1 algorithms at first, but I teach them this way because it is the standard, and you will need to learn eventually.

I recommend memorizing the shapes.That technique helps with learning new algs.You also can get used to the feel of the cube while you are solving.I also recommend practising it whenever you can.Learn advanced cubeshape too.Pick either the Qiyi square 1 or the x-man volt.When you are sub 1 minute,Start learning EP algs.Hoped this helped.
