    This is great, you really know its an honest review when out of perhaps a doz choppers only 1 is considered worth buying. That chopper is one of the few I can get in Australia and is the type of chopper I'm considering. Btw, clearly the blade on those mandolins were not sharp enough. like with knives, a sharp blade is a safe blade. The sharper the blade is, the less pressure required to cut, the less pressure required, the more control you have. This is equally true for mandolins, they are safe if the blades are really sharp and take minimal resistance to slice. The mandolin I have slices easily but it is mostly stainless steel with blade plastic sides and cost quite a lot but it works and its easy to clean though does tend to cut int the dish cloth or brush your cleaning it with.

    I bought one and am happy and surprised. I have a couple blenders that overkill what I need to do to vegetables. I have a problem chewing. Meaning lettuce, celery, pepper, etc can be difficult to the point I don't eat them, until now. The lawnmower allows me to reduce them enough that I can enjoy them enough. Without blending them to mush.
    Lawnmower - 5-6 pulls for salad. 8-9 pulls for omelettes.
    Easy to use and clean. And i can enjoy salads and omelettes again.

    I was hoping to get some advice on this video, and it was useful, but I need some thing for cutting thick slices of potato (or thick French fries) that I can then make into cubes for soup and that sort of thing and thinner slices for fried potatoes, etc. I’m 77 and my fingers locked up on me because of arthritis when I try to grip a paring knife or peeler to peel and cut harder vegetables like potatoes and turnips, and I have very little strength in my shoulders and arms. I found an affordable electric peeler, which does an okay job for me, but then I have a hard time cutting up the potatoes, turnips, etc. I try not to make anything where I’m using potatoes, turnips, carrots, etc, but once in a while I like to make vegetable soup and other recipes that are best made with raw vegetables instead of canned. Some things I can get pre-cut in the produce section, but not potatoes and turnips. Any suggestions for a cutter/slicer for an elderly person?

    For me, it's the ceremony of cutting vegetables with a knife that counts. It's like the Japanese tea ceremony, it's not the tea that's important but the ceremony. Of course, if you're trying to get it done as fast as possible, then that's a whole different story. 😀

    Excellent effort, but the fact that you were using the mandolin slicer wrongly makes me question the reliability of your conclusions. A tool is only useful when you know how to use it.

      what do you mean

    • @senthiljams
      @senthiljams 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thesage1096 you need to use the mandolin slicer while pushing the hand away from your body, like doing karate chops. In your demo, it seems like you are deliberately using the slicer at an awkward angle to show it as a con. You can check any mandolin slicer demos and reviews, nobody uses the slicer at an angle that you do.

    You don't review the Vidalia Chopper. It's the BOMB! You slice your veggies the 'thickness' you like and chop them. I've never had a problem cleaning it. Simply run water on the reverse side and the pieces generally fall off. For the 'pusher' the comb really does work well. I have no problems with it at all. I LOVE IT and I break that puppy out every time I have a lot of onions to chop.

      I sensed that the guy looking around...was maybe uncomfortable with or didn't like the other guy's negative reviews, and that is why he couldn't look the other guy in the face. He was probably thinking that a few of the choppers actually work well or ok.
      Also I do find you have a valid point. Last week when someone walked in and cheerfully said good morning to me as they always do, I noticed I had to turn away from them and cheerfully say good morning to them. I couldn't look at them because well I'm so....I will use this word... "disappointed" .... in them because of some of their actions. This person has fallen from grace and still hasn't learned a lesson.
      Anyway thanks for the giving me the opportunity to say it because honestly I have to be cordial.
      I will select either the oxy, the Once and for All, they seem very safe, or the Fullstar.
