It’s taking me about 2 hours per panel to print each panel in black ABS on a Bambu Lab P1S (sport mode). I feel like if I had the AMS I could have printed off a tall stack of them overnight by putting a layer of breakaway support material between each panel. Now I’m cranking out connectors and wall mounts (another 2 hours or so). Really looking forward to putting this up on the wall!

I thought I had it right, but now not sure. A. How do you verify you have the the right way? I believe the "catch" or tab on the grid is away from you, which hold the nibs or tabs on the inserts which also faces away from you. B. Do you have to use PETG? I just can't work with the stuff. But I think more flexible, soft filament is probably a lot better than PLA. That said, C. Any tips for getting the tolerance right? I am experimenting, but the first round, I can snap them in, but once locked, there is not getting them out without breaking everything. Once option may be a jig in a matching honeycomb pattern to act as a "bang ring". The "ring" or honeycomb of 1 to 4 openings a little bigger than the inserts goes under the upside-down grid. Then a jig (6 sided pipe just smaller than the back side of the insert) goes over the insert and you bang it with a hammer to knock it out. But ideally, we should be able to hold the thing while still on the wall and wiggle out the inserts.

@@thenextlayer calibrated my e-steps a few days ago-- should be good there. Nozzle is very clean and everything comes out fine. The pdf simply gives like... 3 settings. (Something I'm starting to realize with this hobby is hardly anyone shares their printer settings xD would really help someone new understand all the variables better)
Though I did do a test print recently where I basically slowed everything down... It took 20 minutes to print a single hex attachment and about 7 to print 3 hexes worth of the hex lattice itself.
Additionally I decided to use zero infil in the attachment (as it's plenty strong without it) and I massively lowered layer heights around the curved edges- hoping to get more accurate prints for both.
Oh and I reversed the lattice upside down-- so it's printing from the thin side up. This allowed me to better assure the top layer was properly made with no issues as the thick part of the hex is the side the attachments go in.
It worked out! Though it is still very tough (if quite nearly impossible without damage parts ) to get them out again.
Settings of note beyond defaults for a Creality Ender 3 V2 neo were simply -- adjusted variable layer heights to be smaller around the curves (so like .15mm ) and it would go back up to .25 or .3 for the more basic vertical layers.
I lowered the temperature for the orca's slicer default on pla (cura sets it to 200, orca to 220, so I went to 210)
And set infill to zero -- the lattice I made with 4 walls, the attachment I made with 3

I do like this new hex system, as it is really a cool idea, and does not seem to leverage someone else stolen intellectual property.

I bought and used the system of alex, but switched to gridfinity because open source is always better.

NO its NOT! I have spent the last week printing the convoluted system that is multiboard and I have never seen a more confusing system in all my life! There is ZERO organization and no way to for the novice to know what piece goes with what! It should be a simple matter of plugging into the wall board and then plugging into it with some adapter. There are multiple adapters with long names that dont go far enough to identify what they are for. I for one am throwing my hands up and going back to Gridfinity! Multiboard is what you get when there are ZERO standards, just like working with electronics. Just because you have a USB adapter, does not mean you can solder it onto any board because there are 50 different configurations and Multiboards is just like that and is a bloated disaster that is going to waste filament and leave you with pieces that make no sense what to do with them! Even if you know how to put a square peg in a square hole, it is not going to save you from this bloated mess of a system!

This isnt the multiboard system this is the honeycomb storage wall and although the multiboard system looks the same it is made by a different person

Oh dear, it seems that printing a tool wall might not be the best use of your 3D printer's time and resources. But fear not, my friend! There are plenty of ready-made tool walls out there, from Ikea to the humble pegboard, just waiting for you around the corner. If you're feeling creative and want to print some custom accessories to spice up your tool wall game, go for it! However, the tool wall itself is a bit of a head-scratcher. It takes forever to print and can end up costing way more than a pre-made board. Plus, going the factory-made route would be more eco-friendly. Hey, we all love 3D printing, but not everything needs to be printed! Let's reserve that special treatment for the truly worthy objects.

I actually did calculate it and this is significantly cheaper than Skadis and uses much less plastic.

@@thenextlayerThere's a world of products besides Ikea's. Did you know that the Skadis panel is made up of 99% wood fibers? Pretty cool, huh? And while we're on the topic of considering things from all angles, let's take a look at 3D printing. While it's an amazing technology, let's not forget that printing a tool wall requires a lot of energy (which, unfortunately, comes with a hefty dose of CO2 emissions), and it can take a while to complete. So perhaps we should be a bit selective about what we choose to 3D print - after all, not everything deserves a spot in the 3D printing hall of fame!"
