    Qi2 makes most sense for in vehicles and when built into flat or vertical surfaces such as lamp stands and table surfaces, where the central location isn't as obvious as it is with dedicated wireless chargers. Qi1 works fine in homes. But I guess Qi2 is rumoured to be faster, i.e. 15W rather than 7.5W. But the magnets themselves are mostly useful in the aforementioned categories, for vehicle dashboards etc.

I suspect it would be no different with Qi2, although unless something extra gets added to MagSafe it would become, which charger do I prefer

    Something that should be noted! You can buy magsafe attachment rings for your non-iPhone devices: essentially giving your cellphone pseudo qi2 for when the actual chargers come out. Once again, this is for non-iPhone devices (Android cellphones). Cheers!

    • @babybirdhome
      @babybirdhome 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correction - you can buy MagSafe-like attachment rings. You can NOT buy MagSafe attachment rings because Apple’s MagSafe standard is more than just a ring of magnets, and those attachment rings may or may not be compatible with actual MagSafe. But yeah, they should let you magnetically attach to the new Qi2 chargers, and hopefully they’re even made correctly to align your charging ring to the Qi2 charging ring so it doesn’t hurt your charging. But without it being either MagSafe or Qi2, there are no guarantees, so while you can buy them and they’ll probably attach to the chargers, you may or may not get the charging performance you would be getting with the real standard.

    • @Anondez
      @Anondez 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@babybirdhome precisely why I added the pseudo part. And Magsafe is technically just the patent that refers to the magnet and ability to attach accessories. iPhones just have an extra software component and have the magnet built in. You can't call it a magnet ring on an online store, it's called Magsafe.

    • @Anondez
      @Anondez 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thunderbolt was introduced 7 years ago (which Apple even helped develop..). Apple has used it for a long time for other devices but refused to use it on their phones to keep profits from the MFI programme and Apple-made products only. Yet, literally everyone else in the world was already using USB-C for years. They didn't change because they wanted to. They were literally forced by the EU to change to stop anti-consumer practice.. when the government has to step in, it says a lot.. especially funny when they removed the charger for "environmental reasons" but refuse to use the same superior charger as the rest of the world.

    My problem with Qi charging is that I have to remove my case from the phone to use it! Maybe the Anker charging base is inadequate to the task, or the fact that my case is equipped with a metal plate for magnetic mounting in my car. Either way, the inconvenience of the Qi charger is just not worth the hassle. Charging via cable works great, and I don't need to remove my phone's case to use it. A lot of folks don't use a case with their phones, but the iPhone is so slippery I would not use it without a case.

    • @GabrielRM
      @GabrielRM 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, metal plate cover will prevent wireless charging. Especially being magnetic - wireless charging uses electromagnetic fields.
      This is why phone needs a glass or plastic back where the charging coil is.
      Very thick covers also won't work well as it increases the distance between the charged and the phone.
      Good news is you can simply buy a qi2 case, the magnets allow for you to get a special mount for your car - one that can also wirelessly charge on top of that.

    Nonsense apple sheep propaganda. The actual difference will be you're paying more for the identical apple brand and nothing else, as always.

    WTF WITH THIS INDUSTRY??? we need charing that goes fast, 30 mins max charging to a full 100%. we also need unbreakable screens, so we can rock our phones without these stupid cases that hide the phone´s design beauty. that technology from motorola, shatter shield, what happened to it??? also, bring back the darn p2 ports, or place two usb c ports in the midle so we can charge the stupid phones and also use wired headphones. blueooth headphones are always having paring problems and drain the batteries faster. so give us the wired option then. and please, engineers, use your brains to develop thinner batteries that will hold high charges that will make the darn phones last at least 2 days at least!!! IS ALL THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK??? PUT YOUR TIKTOKS DOWN AND START USING YOUR BRAINS!!!
