Your shooting format with foulers and 5 shot groups is great. Definitely want to see 100 yard groups especially with CCI SV. Another cheap ammo that shoots pretty good I’d the Federal Auto Match that Walmart was recently selling for 6 cents per round in the 325 bulk box. It is 1200 F I also wonder if these cheap and available ammos would benefit from SORTING ? Did you ever use ammo accurized by the Neal Waltz die that puts the Eley flat nose on the bullet ?

Where i come from, cci standard ammo is very expensive and hard to come by. I stock on them, the cci ammo i have purchased more than 10 years ago i use for target Shooting and serious long range hunting. For me that is 140 to 150 meters for a clean headshot on dove sized game and 180 to 200 maybe but body shots. The old cci standard and Subsonic .22lr ammo is capable of .5 MOA at 100meters on 2 of my Custom 10/22 and 1moa on my hunting Custom bolt and it performs very well on various rifles of my fellow shooters. The batches from about 4 years to present imported by the official dealer here though are a mixed sort. Some perform Similar to the ones we are used to although with more fliers than usual but some batches shoot just a step above our local bulk ammo... Weight sorting and running them thru a waltz die helps, just an annoyoyance since it was good Before. Hopefully this is just a bad batch. We understand that cci Sv was never meant to be a premium ammo but at least the batches before were able to come close or equal to that at a cheaper price. Cci standard vel here costs 10us dollars direct from dealer per box of 50 and may go as high as 15dollars thru a secondary source. Lapua And eley here costs 25dollars per 50 at the bare mininimum and may go higher depending on source. Some stores Even sell the cheaper eley stuff just as high as their premium eley stuff because of the brand.
Cci stafard out of my cz455 is by far one of the best grouping in it, I also tourqe to 25inch pounds on the action screws, makes a world of diffrence great vid enjoy these

Cci has been the standard for a long time. Its relatively cheap and accurate for its price point. And to be honest if your looking for 50 yard accuracy its often not hard to find with relatively inexpensive ammo

Great series thank you, My personal experence with my late 70s model 80 bolt action 24 inch micro groove barrel I have found that CCI AR shoot very well they are cprn 1200fps and I have no problem with 5 shot nickel size groups at 50 yards, I do have a 3x9x40 scope and a bipod. The rifle was a $50. pawn shop find 20 years ago and has turned into one of my favorites the scope and bipod are recent additions.
Thanks for doing these test , it is really appreciated. I finally got the the indoor range today and got to use my new MTR for sighting in and to have some fun. I shot CCI SV so it was nice to see you shoot the same in this video. I did manage to get some very nice grouping but I was only shooting at 25M , next week I'll go out to 34M which is the maximum the range goes to ( it's an indoor range). BTW CCI SV are $8.50AUS here in Australia !
I get a better picture of performance when I run all 25 shots consecutively over the chrono at the same time I group test...the ES & SD numbers will say it all.
Great series have enjoyed it very much. The results with cci std velocity is what i expected unfortunately the quality and accuracy of these has declined over the past few years.
If you see RWS-R50-SC While you're looking at RWS-R50 give it a try. The (Sort Chamber) has been very good in a couple of MTRs and several other CZs. It's better than the regular R50 in our tests out of the MTR but it did very from lot# to lot# Good luck, thanks for the videos

I guess in this case, you get what you pay for. Also, it will help taking a little of the sting off when paying 4-5 times it’s cost for the higher grade 22. Thanks for doing these comparison videos and sharing them.
Hi Josh. Good test again, the CCI is not too bad for budget practice ammo. I have been using a Lithgow LA 101 for my target shooting it’s a very accurate rifle. I have just bought the MTR in a 16” barrel, its still ‘running in’ first impressions are very good using SK match and Eley Club. I would have liked the 20” barrel but the wait to get one was three months here in the uk. What’s your opinion on a short 16 over the 20 ? Love the channel. Good stuff 🇬🇧
Have you ever ran a mag of ammo through the rifle slowly without shooting it to see if there’s any deformation of the projectile caused by feeding and chambering? Just curious to see.
good idea treefeller, edit- I am gonna try what you suggested with my 457, I always wondered why as a kid with iron sights I shot really well with a single shot, now 45 years later I get it that when the bullet as hand chambered / undamaged and that is most likely why it shot so darn well
I think 150 yards would be a good deciding yardage but 100 would probably be okay. Interesting to watch all your tests. By the way I’m a big Athlon supporter also. Midas Tac and Cronus treat me well
I have a batch of RWS Target Rifle that shot the good guy, bad guy target almost perfect with all head shots. Got some more of a different batch and it barely held an inch at 50yds. R50 and R100 both consistently shoot sub MOA. Love my MTR.
I’ve used the cci standard velocity in the rpr and so far this gives best group of the 16 I’ve tried, I can get 1/2” groups very easily. But at 100yrds not so good. These ruger precision rimfire rifles I would not recommend to anyone.
For the overall, I'd like to see 5-shot groups from the top five finishers starting at 50yds out to as far as you have available. Thanks again for all that you do for us.
Thanks Keith. Here at the house i can shoot out to about 200 yards. At a certain distance the enviornmentals like wind etc start to take a large effect on group size
@@PursuitofAccuracy I definitely understand wind having an effect on group size, especially with rimfires. Watching your videos, especially the steel ringing, I was hoping that the trees were providing a bit of a wind break. Again, we appreciate all that you do.

I shoot CCI the most but at 100 yrds it shoots about 1” out of my MTR and about the same out of my Jaguar. The weird thing is that SK standard shoots 1/2” out of my MTR and 1” out of the Jaguar. Everyone I talk to acts like CCI is the best 22lr and yes it is reliable out of semi autos but it is just not very accurate.
Hi Lawrence. I have ran single feed adapters in the past but all my shooting disciplines now require magazines so i have always just incorporated them out of habit.

Eley action is pretty cheap in the UK Around £65 per thousand and has grouped well above its price point may have just had a lucky lot RWS R50 has to be worth a look

I did not sort them at all. I dont normally sort any of my ammo. I actually shot the 457 competition gun today at close to 200 yards at the small, 1/2" , target on a 100 yard kyl rack and went 3 out of 5. Was pretty impressed

Hey Josh I’m sorry my question doesn’t go with your test. I’ve got a Lilja barrel on the way for my 457. I’m run strictly SK ammo. With what you’ve seen with your barrel where should I start at with my headspace. I was thinking.043 and work my way down.
After spending many hours lately focusing on shooting CCI SV out of my Custom 10/22 (maybe 100 5 shot groups at 50 yards) my results are an average of .75 And my targets look alot like yours...3 or 4 good shots...with 1 or 2 way off...killing the group.. Kinda makes me feel good knowing i might be squeezing the most out of the ammo... But also frustrating knowing that It probably won't get better...

CCI SV seems to work well in my Ruger American Rimfire Long-Range Target too. Though, I'm currently battling some failures to extract...

I dont think the 16" are bad but just not my preference. They are a lot louder than a 18 or 20" barrel and i think they just look a little stubby

Have you ever tried Aguila Super Extra? I've read that it often shoots pretty well, but I've not tried it myself.
I’m not sure if you have done it already but can you test Cci subsonic? I’ve had excellent results with it at 50 yards with my cz 457

I guess I got lucky. I have the CZ 457 pro varmint with 16.5 inch barrel and it loves the CCI standards. Shoots .65 and less at 50 yards

Will be atleast 100 depending on weather conditions that day. About 4 or 5 more to test then on to the finale
Stay with 50 at 100 to many other factors can determine results.
