I think you completely blew my mind with this video. I'm going to have to watch it about 10 times and even then I don't know if I'll understand that accordian sewing and cutting. Great video!
Quilting has always been the most creative craft for me,one can literally make a million things with quilting.I just got into the quilting space and I love it here,I’m giving knitting a break to focus and learn more in quilting. Hoping to learn more things on here, shares ideas and make new quilting friends. Please reply under my comment if you would like to be quilting friends 😊
Karen, I can't tell you how much I appreciate how much actual information you pack into your videos and how very economical you are with time and words! Thank you for sharing your ideas and expertise again here--love this quilt.
Thank you for doing a video on postcards from Sweden. I’ve had that on my quilt list for a few years. Never heard of accordion before or spinning seams. I’ll be watching this again to get it down.
Thank you Karen, another great video. I came a cross Eva Paige a couple of years ago and was fascinated with her method, had a couple of variations if I remember correctly. I will have to check her out again. I wasn’t making many half square triangles and i kind of forgot about it. So glad you used it, I will definitely remember it now. It’s a fun easy way to make multitudes.
Wow I don't think I'd have the patience to enter all of those color combos into prequilt but the layout you ended up with is worth it!! I love how it looks kind of random but also has a flow from cool colors at the top to warm colors at the bottom. Can't wait to see how you quilt this one :)

I watched your series on color quite a while ago, loved it and learned a lot. Not having an art background I was not familiar with many of the concepts but now find that I am happier with my quilts and find choosing fabrics easier now that I better understand where my “taste in color “ lies on the wedge. Thank you!
😮😊 Wow, the accordion method, 🤔 will have to give it a try. I ❤️ love the multi Red one you used to have hanging behind you that looked like a wall hanging. My most favorite one. 😊😊
Fabulous video, but must confess that I had to watch the process of accordion sewing a few times to get it into my head and your rules were a great help. You are amazing Karen
Thanks Karen. I always love to see your background quilt( though only catching part of it). Interesting method of sewing the blocks to ensure different colour combinations. Love your final layout and colours 👏♥️🇦🇺
Wow, Karen, you never cease to amaze me. I’ve always loved that quilt behind you, now with all your wonderful instructions, I have the option to make one. On the list it goes, and I will be using orange as my first colour choice . Thank you so very much for sharing 👍❤️🙂
Thank you again Karen for another great stash buster. I love it and look forward to trying it out. Can’t wait to try out the accordion half square triangles.
Thank you Karen for another great video 😊. I especially value your tips for pressing the blocks so the seams spin, especially where the HSTs meet up. This is a video that I definitely will have to watch more than once!
Karen, Thnx so much for your tutorial. I honestly didn't think there was much to making this quilt, much more than I thought. Looking forward to using my 5" charm pieces up. Love in Sarasota ❤
So impressive! Love the way you think!!! I like the idea of using Andover Century solids because of the better thread count. Didn't know about that--thanks for sharing.
Re the ruler you use to mark the HST sewing lines-Fons and Porter makes one available at big box stores with a coupon. Love your videos and listen all day long while working!!
I somehow stumbled on your very first video many years ago... now look at ya... you are still as real as then :). I am sooo happy for you and your fam that your son is home and your season of winter walking your pup is coming... ENJOY! P>S>. Making my youngest grand an economy block quilt in just 3 fabrics... I am sew excited I saw that vid... I have my measurements but wanna see what I missed! You show everything so well! Loved this vid with the accordion method when super scrappy is warranted... where do you buy the Andover solids for best price in the US if ya know of one. Thanks Karen :). Kathi
Great video! I learn somethig from ea of your videos. Where can I find/purchase the chart you show with the numer of locks needed for a specific size quilt? Thank You!
Ok, so you said to remove your top stitch and your bottom stitch to get the seam junction to spin. Can you please show that in more detail? I'm not sure which stitches you mean.

Love your energy. I want to find a good computer program. What was the one you used with this quilt? I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you Pam
if you are making a quilt from squares that are all the same size - and nothing else - there is no need to trim the blocks as they will all be the same size, even if they are an odd size.
Jenny from Missouri Star showed a version of this postcards from Sweden I think it was, on her Tuesday newsday. Apparently, she had just made a version of it herself. Looks like you guys are grooving on the same wavelength, LOL
I've loved hearing those words "Stick with me and I'll show you how to do it" for almost close to ten years. Thanks yet again Karen 🙂
Thank you 🤗🤗🤗
FINALLY a tutorial on how to strategically press hsts. Thank you so very much Karen. You are a BLOCK STAR.
I think you completely blew my mind with this video. I'm going to have to watch it about 10 times and even then I don't know if I'll understand that accordian sewing and cutting. Great video!
It’s easy once you do it
Same here😅

Oh thank you!
Yes so glad to see this! Not sure I can see HSTs like this yet but I will practice as I love this quilt!
Iove spinning the srams on square quilts. It manages bulk so well.
I haven't been above just snipping the seam when i did one wrong way round though.
Thanks for this! I’ve often admired this one behind you and would like to try.
Love your pressing technique!
☺️☺️☺️
Great idea for using scraps and my own version of Postcards from…❤ That accordion method is genius
Thanks so much! 😊 and thanks for the ruler

I am so excited to learn this quilt. I also love the one you have in all reds. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I used the two at a time method for that one
Wow those are awesome instructions! Thanks Karen!

Wow that is an amazing quilt
Always enjoy your tutorials
Oh man, I wished I hadn't just finished my Postcards quilt. This makes me want to make another one using your techniques!
Use your leftovers and test it out. If it's not large it can be a wall quilt or crib quilt
Love this one Karen, thanks for sharing your method. 😊
Love the quilt!
Thank you. It’s so cheerful
Can't wait to try that HST accordion method! Thanks again 😊
Great tutorial and lovely quilt colurs x I have just the right materials to try one myself🙂 Thank you for sharing with us your great tips x
It's so nice when you can pull from what you have
Love this quilt. Perfect seams. Gorgeous colors
Wow! You really make a lot of quilts! I’m jealous
Thank you you always help me learn more
Love this! Thank you.
Wow, hadn't thought about doing this with the accordion method! Also, making 4 patches is brilliant!
Thank you Karen. I'm ready to get back to quilting again. This will help me get started.

There is a ruler....I just have enough. I like to use what I have
I love Blueland. Thanks for recommending it (months ago)
Fabulous!
Just bought this kit.
You will have fun
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I have a fabric pack for this quilt but I find it quite daunting!
I've heard of the accordion method -- probably from you awhile back. Never tried it. Maybe I will if I'm stash busting. Thank you for the video 😊
Thank you 😊
Wow. I'll need to watch that a few more times to really "see" it. Greetings from the Karwarthas! Take care, Kitti
I like the HST Method. I have to try it, looks really cool.
Beth Helfter of EvaPaige Quilt Designs developed this method at least 6 years ago. You can find her videos on it by searching here on TH-cam.
Most of the quilt shops around here don't carry solid colors. Your quilt top is beautiful.
Some techniques new to me. Thanks!
Thank you!
I love this stashbuster. I don’t know about spinning the seams. I am afraid they will come apart.
I’m blown away. I’ve never seen HST made this way. Have I missed a slower video going though each step slower , showing each step

I loved watching this but I'm not a quilter. Holy doodle.......lotsa busy.
❤
😊
Where can I find the chart you showed that provided how many blocks needed? Thanks
Links are in the video notes

There’s a link in the video description
I'm wondering what it would look like if you had left it on the design wall when child #3 invaded your space and let him rearrange the hsts!!!💞
HaHa...next time
Ok, so you said to remove your top stitch and your bottom stitch to get the seam junction to spin. Can you please show that in more detail? I'm not sure which stitches you mean.
The first and last stitch in the seam
I didn't get this as well. How can it spin a certain way by cutting a stitch?
Have a look at how Karen irons a seam at about 14:45 in the video and you will get a better idea of spinning seams
❤ Hi Karen! ❤
Where in the world did you learn this accordian method for HSTs?
I found it years ago on another channel. It’s good for when you want mixed up HST’s . If you need pairs I prefer the 2 at a method

@judyreid4716 Thanks Karen! I will check out her videos on this method!

I spy a Mando:)
He seemed overwhelmed by the whole design-wall project, too. 🙂

Only if you can piece a perfectly square HST. Some of us can't
@@JustGetitDoneQuiltsI definitely can’t get perfect hst’s! I’m off to watch your 10 ways video…
Jenny from Missouri Star showed a version of this postcards from Sweden I think it was, on her Tuesday newsday. Apparently, she had just made a version of it herself. Looks like you guys are grooving on the same wavelength, LOL
No way😂
My mind can’t handle the accordion method. I love it, but….i know I would screw it up. 😇😇❤️
use what works for you
I’ve seen a video on how much fabric you have and you measured in YARDS not METERS, you are Canadian, why?
Because I am bilingual. I also buy in yards
I have socks in my stash…
