This is the kind of "build your own" figure system I wanted 20 years ago when I bought like thirty of the Universal Soldier Vietnam 1/18 figures to build a rifle platoon.

There was something like this in the 90's or 2000's but I don't remember who made them. They had a lot of interchangeability with equipment, arms, heads, helmets, etc, in WWII era. They had U.S. And Germans (maybe others, as well. I don't remember as I only bought a few as I was going to use for a project that never materialized.)

My family and Maruader John's shared a table at the JoeCon dinner in 2012 in New Orleans. The guy is top notch. The reason his product and company are so awesome is he is a fan first. I'm happy to see his business doing well and have been a big supporter.
Hang in there for your British and airborne troops. The WWII kickstarter wasn't able to unlock some of them the first go round, but I'm certain more are planned and there will probably be a second kickstarter. You should NOT miss out. A Vietnam kickstarter is in the works as well.

When I was a kid I read "Sgt. Rock"', and "GI Combat" comics. The idea of being able to build action figures of them is appealing to me. I do know that Hasbro did make a "Sgt. Rock" set just before they quit making the cloth uniform 1/6th scale Action Figures, but I never got any. I have a vast collection of the 1/6th GI Joe's, and Star Wars figures, and have kit bashed a few from other companies.
I built a "Salt" II Angelina Jolie from a "Lara Croft" head sculpt, a Perfect Body large bust and completed it with various clothes, bags and weapons that I bought on line or took from other sets in my parts bins .

I too loved the show Combat! as a kid in the 60's.
Several years ago, I had the chance to attend a reunion of several of the remaining cast members. Caje, Pierre Jalbert, was there. At one point, we walked around one of the filming locations, and Pierre put on his beret! The very same one that he wore in the show! (He had just taken it home when the show ended). And guess what! It wasn't black like we all thought it would be from seeing it in the B&W episodes, it was green!

Never expected a video like this. Thank you for bringing back some fond memories with my Grandpa & Dad! I WILL share this video!!!

  • @homesteadspirit9209

As a child who grew up playing with GI Joe dolls these figures make my eyes light up. After I watched this video I went to the website and picked out some parts for my own WW2 characters. I actually have written some short adventure stories based on tales my Grandpa has told me about his time in WW2 along with his younger brother Tom. I labeled the collection of these short stories The Oiler Brother Chronicles. I think it's fantastic we are at a point where we can create our own action figure like this and that they are better then what Hasbro is trying to sell us for close to twelve dollars a pop. Amazing the world we live in isn't it?
On another note. If you enjoyed these you should look into what Vitruvian Hacks has to offer. I've collected quite a few of those figures and created a lot of my own from the accessories sets and blank figures. The price point on those is a tad bit more then with these but they are perfect to fill that sword and sorcery void

I've been following Marauders since the days when they were just doing 1/18 scale weapons. Love the variety. Their Task Force and Valkyrie figures helped me recreate modern versions of G.I. Joe characters that I couldn't afford from Hasbro. I've done Scoop, Jinx, Zaranna, and a female Cobra Trooper. Fans really are doing the best work.

I watched the Combat repeats on channel 30 st. Louis, I think. Early- mid 80s late, late nights. Combat, rat patrol, twilight zone, Soap Benson, three stooges, the fugitive, manix, doctor who and a couple more all late hours pushing 2 in the morning several summers in a row. Great television. Loved Combat. Wish they would have offered toys back then of any of those shows.

I want to support Marauder but they have withdrawn sales to the UK because of Brexit :( . I spent several hours working out the figures, heads, accessories and weapons i need to make some modern troops and pilots i want for my collection but i need to actually make a shopping list i can send to a friend who {if he agrees} can buy the list for me before sending them over to the UK. The additional postage and import tax are going to make these figures rather expensive. It is a shame they don't send their products to the UK because like you i also want to buy their WW2 figures and Vietnam figures. Great review that has only made me more determind to obtain Marauder figures.

These custom figures are excellent! A job well done, and a great video.
I'd like to do something similar for the Kelly's Heroes film. I could easily make Pvt Kelly (Clint Eastwood), and Sgt Big Joe (Telly Savalas) but I'd struggle to make Odd-Ball (Donald Sutherland's character) because currently Marauder don't have a tank crewman/bomber jacket figure. I'd also struggle with his head piece as he has a long beard and leather flying helmet. Marauder do a bald headed figure so the Telly Savalas figure would be catered for.
Who knows? Marauder may well release something that could be used for Odd-Ball in the future.
Great job in creating your figures.
    All the best, Dave

Right - I've had a damn good look through their website, and I'm off to order some British Squaddies, some GIs, and some Nazis. These are amazing.

@retroblasting where have you been. I was buying weapons from these guys 10 years ago. I’m glad they have branched out. Also, thanks for highlighting these businesses. It’s much appreciated.

Kevin....I said it in the video. I've been UNINTERESTED IN MODERN MILITARY. Their WWII offerings are NEW. Now put the equation together and you'll have your answer as to where I've been.

RetroBlasting I put that together when I was watching the video. After looking at the website again there product offerings and your video. I’ve been inspired to create my own 25th anniversary version of the October Guard. To complement my collection of 25th GI Joe figures.

This is probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. A piece of pop culture I had no idea even existed brought into plastic form with some clever creative work.
    Top marks!

They showed that movie to us in Marine Corps basic training. I'd love to see a CPL. Peacock character variation.

I was only watching Once upon a time in Hollywood yesterday & I noticed advertising on a bus for the show Combat, I didn't even know if it was real, that's the 3rd or 4th strange coincidence regarding what you've put out on a video & things I was only recently thinking or had just watched within 24 hours. Thank you for your knowledge & I love what you've done for the characters, quality mate. Regards, David from Manchester, England

It's pretty good I really enjoy it, on Saturday night/Sunday mornings on the Heros&Icons tv channel this show is on before 12 o'Clock high another pretty cood WWII show about a bomber squadron (think it is like a continuation of the movie of the same name)

Awesome video! I picked up the British rifleman and he's pretty fantastic. Eventually plan on picking up more figures. Great company and figures.

I'd love to see a British Home Guard figure and a British Para with the red beret and Dennison smock. Also, it'd be nice to see more figures representing the Commonwealth forces, e.g. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, etc. The possibilities are endless! Great review! 🙂

Howdy Michael do you think they would ever make late 1930s early 40s fighter pilot figures? I would really like to make my own Sky Captain figure

Why am I not surprised you are into British WW2? Nice work on your COMBAT! Custom build. Sgt Saunders really needs a 1928 Thompson with compensator

I watched a few episodes of COMBAT! on another channel, but it was on at an ungodly hour.
That said, I'm was happy to see COMBAT! on the H&I network during their War Heroes block every Saturday night.

Sadly COMBAT! was never carried in syndication where I grew up. (We were stuck with Hogan's Heroes!) I'd never heard of the show until Vic Morrow was tragically killed during the production of the Twilight Zone Movie in the early '80s. These figures are a great way to honor so many memories: The great actors, the great show, and the real life heroes we owe so much to! Thank you for sharing this Micheal!

As a kid I had plastic soldiers 1:32 scale from airfix. They were great to collect world war Ii different soldiers from different countries. From german afrika korps to american infantry. 29 soldiers in a box for 4 Deutsch Mark. You could paint your figures or leave it like they are. We played battles after battles. Wow, pocket Money memories. Awesome. It was so much fun. Ok, we played war. Not ok. I‘m in doubt. But, he we were eight years old. Thanks Micheal for sharing your memories and toys. Keep up the good work. Stay safe.
