The Air Filter/Intake setup isn't permanent; I didn't realize how "in the way" it was until I put the actual air filter on. I'm currently in the process of coming up with a solution by slightly moving the whole turbo setup, + fabricating a 180 degree intake pipe so that it faces forwards. E-mail me, or contact me through my website (doctor-motorcycle.com) if you have bike you either want built completely, or you want to have a turbo setup made. As of right now, I'm only going to be making kits for bikes that are installed/tuned by myself at my home shop here in Arizona. There's too many variables in these early stages to start sending kits out. I won't be charging extra for install/tune on these early kits BTW, it will be $3,999 out the door. I can do Virago 920's + 1100's as well, and in fact, the next build I'm doing is going to be a Virago 920, probably a twin turbo setup 😁
Don't run the exhaust in the direction of your knee. I did that on my Turbo TR1/Virago and that was one of the worst decisions in my build as within seconds you feel like suffering from sunburn due to the radiant heat off the exhaust.
I like that you upgraded the bearing and seals on the turbo before even using it, that's the kind of attention to detail that shows you did that build right
I wish you had narrated/ explained the procedure - draw-over or flow-over - how you equalised pressures in the carb by tapping those extra connections - did you re-jet your carb? - enlightened us as to what tubing went where - what turbo did you use and why?
I probably would have torqued that turbo impeller nut down and put some loc-tite on it... Then again I guess the reverse pattern nut will take care of it coming loose though... I think those little turbo impeller's can spin up to 300,000 RPM though.. You made all the work look so easy though as you know your way around with all your tools and mechanical experience..
Had to leave a comment on this. The bike looks amazing. Great job with the rattle can on the tank. Anyone would be proud to own/ride that. I know i would be. Well done.
Miss my 2002 X1 Buell..great fun riding bike. The key to Buells, is replace every gasket with James Gaskets, and she'll never leak again. Also, fully float the headers or you will snap exhaust studs, I had three snap before figuring this out. I had the full race kit and it was damn fast. People used to say they didn't have any top end speed...BS...I had mine stock gearing redlined in 5th GPS indicated 154MPH. My Ducati ST4S ABS never came close to that, 135ish.
Just found your channel and had to binge watch the entire list of your builds. Your skills are next fing level! Love to watch like minded people work their craft. I am in the process of rebuilding/restoring my 1982 Yamaha Seca 650. I bought it new and it's about time for some upgrades. Keep the great videos coming. Thanks.
I used to see truck racing on UK circuits. (A car series I was involved with was a support event to the UK Championship). It involved semi tractor units with water-cooled brakes belching steam as they ran three-abreast into corners at Brands and elsewhere.... Spectacular beyond words This is my image of a Buell... A two-wheeled racing semi. It shouldn't race, but it does. It shouldn't be fast, but it is. And this one (this build) is insane. Sublime. Like Dorothy Paget's Blower Bentleys, this unusual monster is a step past logic and into magic. My disdain for almost everything Harley is great. But this is something else. Chapeau!
@@G58 Ha ha... No. I've never been to Donnington. Never ridden there, never been as a spectator. It's a track that exists for me only on TV. Sheene was in and out of trucks before I ever saw one race. I imagine he may have been a part of the reason for Stavros Parrish getting onto trucks.... Parrish was a fixture when I occasionally saw them tearing up the track and biffing the tyre walls a few years later. I was never there for the trucks, but they certainly did grab the attention. Just awesome.
The hardest part of a turbo build is where to put the oil reservoir which is why I stuck to superchargers but every now and then a turbo is just amazing
2008's are a good year to boost because they have a much stronger bottom end. I think the small and big ends of the rods are bigger, along with being lighter too. I'd love to build a turbo XB, it's just hard to find someone who paid $3,800 for a bike that wants to sink $4k into it.
Man I love your builds. And I am waiting on your turbo kit for carbureted sportsters to be done testing. Been wanting to turbo my 91 sporty. Keep em coming.
Oooo the backwards intor is a niiiiice idea man! Might steal that for my channels next vid if you dont mind! Fantastic content, appreciated it, subbed immediately.
I used to leave out that stuff, but it seemed dishonest to do it like that. I noticed a lot of people saying "you make it look too easy" when in reality, sometimes I want to throw a wrench across the room too. Like when the paint cracked and I had to re-strip/sand/wash it for the second time. The "little issues" never stop, but your ability to navigate them becomes much better.
IDK how I missed this comment but the reason I don't do more riding footage is because after people hear it run and see an acceleration pull they're gone. I've tried doing longer riding shots and it just hurts the analytics too much. 🤷♂
Wow I would love to do this to my Shovel but the S&S super stock 96 or 98 with the andrews gears is already being hard on the clutch but I am positive this man could cure it.
I have same problem with clear coat on first piece. On second, I apply more layers 4 or 5 i think. After cure I dont have orange skin on it. Also sticker put under clear coat for best possible protection.
Dude, greetings from Brazil. I'm watching your videos and learning, the gs400 video inspired me to turbocharge my zongshen fly 150cc water-cooled supermoto I'm modifying the engine to 250cc. Your welding machine uses self-shielded wire, right? I built my entire workshop with a machine like that lol. Thanks for the inspiration and congratulations for your work, soon I'll start my project

That Bike looks wicked mate & you did a good job but you've gotta be off your rocker riding a Bike with that much grunt with only one Front Brake Disc either that or suicidal 😅👍👍👍
Funny you mention that, it did bubble up. In the process right now of coating the inside of the tank with Caswell coating + repainting. Going to let it sit in the sun for a solid week before putting gas in it this time. Wish me luck!

Nice build, I'd imagine what was left of the clutch decided to exit stage right in protest at the extra power, some new plates n stronger springs n I'd be interested what that made on a Dyno👍🏴
Negative, the clutch of the Evolution XL engine is very, very strong and just deleting the clutch judder spring and adding an extra plate in place, it can hold over 120 ft/lbs of torque. I've had this bike on 15psi of boost and E85 and it still held 👍

Why not use the stock header pipes to get it run down low then mount the turbo in front between the frame and the front wheel?
I like that you upgraded the bearing and seals on the turbo before even using it, that's the kind of attention to detail that shows you did that build right
I admire your courage, messing around with carbs is a handful and putting a turbo on it is a whole new level. Keep the good content coming 👌.
