      I thought the King's decision to add Anne and Edward was a clever solution to a problem.
      It would probably have been a lot harder/ more controversial/ take longer to try and remove Harry and Andrew from their posts as Counsellors of State as Andrew has never been convicted of anything and I think Harry is technically still a resident of the UK as I believe he still has a tenancy at Frogmore Cottage.
      If the rules were changed to remove Harry and Edward as COS, the reasons given to exclude them in these rule changes might have further consequences. If you say other than the spouse of the monarch the COS must be 'working' blood royals over 21 you would then have William, Edward, Anne and then the Duke of Gloucester. If they want to keep 4 COS other than the spouse of the monarch then they could soon be running out of people.

      King Charles made clear in his maiden speech that he wished Harry and Meghan well as they live their lives overseas. Whatever he does will be recorded for history and he would not want to be regarded as reacting with cruelty or vindictiveness, or even overly forgiving. The C of S matter must be seen as a fair and reasonable response for future monarchs as well.

      Because of the feudal nature of the monarch. As fourth in line to the throne he is a CoS. The irony is that as heirs of heirs produce their own heirs the spares lose this role. When Charles and Andrew produced children Anne and Edward lost theirs. It is not as if they became less competent but then the monarchical system has nothing to do with merit. The only blessing is the order of the births. Charles is eminently more qualified than Andrew to be king and William than Harry. Shame though that the crown could not have been passed to Anne.

      I think this is KC3 letting Harry know that if he is miserable in his marriage, that they will take him back with open arms. I don't believe that KC3 will let that happen if he brings the wife though. I'm fairly certain it would come with boundaries, rules, etc. and I bet he could go back sans Rachel Ragland. Even if Harry comes back alone , he does not deserve these very prestigious roles. He has shown himself to be a vindictive, jealous liar, and though I understand Charles sentiments as a father , it cannot be forgotten that Harry has done everything he can to destroy the RF. Both Andrew and Harry should have been stripped of the Councillor of State roles , and Charles walking on eggshells to avoid wounding their feelings is ridiculous. As for Andrew and his comeback, well, if he is very patient, and he quietly does good work with charities out of the goodness of his heart 😬 with no arrogance and entitlement, there just maybe a way back. Andrew has not slandered the RF like Harry has done , and doors are being kept open for Harry 🤢. But it will take years , if ever

I am no monarchist but acknowledge that, if there must be one or there is one, QEII did a great job. But don’t you think that the monarchy serves to maintain a rigid class system and encourages people to ‘know their place’ and ‘not get above their station’. This persists notwithstanding the noble efforts of the Prince’s trust.

      A beautiful ceremony and send-off to celebrate or recognise a long reign. But don’t you think attaching so much importance to birthright and the deference and class society it fosters is actually a good thing? IMHO monarchy has no place in a merit based system with social mobility (in both directions). I realise that while the American dream has allowed the likes of Sergei Brin, Mark Zuckerberg and other children of immigrants to make it big there has been a creeping ossification in the US not limited to the increase heredity in the political system. Is it unthinkable that in the next 20 years we see another Bush, Trump, Clinton, Kennedy, Warner, Cuomo or Brown elected as senator, governor or president?

      There has never been any concrete proof of the actions for which Prince Andrew is accused, and Guiffre, his accuser, is being gradually discredited. Unfortunately, the hysterical reaction of the public to the emotions surrounding an accusation of abuse against a man went against him, and even if definite proof of his innocence was produced and his innocence declared, he would still be guilty in the public's mind.
      And before you all start yelling "but why did he pay if he's not guilty?" Because the whole mess would have landed right in the middle of his mother and his Queen's Jubilee.
      Prince Andrew has never bad-mouthed the Royal Family or the Monarchy; Hazard has, and then some.

    • @graphiquejack
      @graphiquejack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      From all accounts, Andrew has been problematic and a spoiled bully for ages. Even IF he is not guilty of the allegations of child sex abuse, he hung out with a known sex trafficker and still thinks he was a great friend. Maxwell from jail is on record saying she still sees him as a friend. Andrew is poison to the Windsor brand. He’s done. He needs to accept it and feel grateful he still can live in palaces and live a far better life than most of us could ever afford. No sympathy whatsoever for that git.

Not even time will forget the destruction that J.E. left behind. Andrew should do the right thing and get busy doing something/somewhere else that does not involve king C and his son W. Whether A was a participator or bystander when it came to his friend J.E,. showed he did not have respect for his job/duty/himself.
