This musical special features highlights of Frank Sinatra's duets with other well-known recording artists, combining the finished product with glimpses behind the scenes. The program begins with brief comments about the innovative and historical aspects of these recordings by the following: Charles Koppelman, Don Rubin, Gloria Estefan, Kenny G, Luis Miguel, Gary Gersh, Hank Cattaneo, Phil Ramone, Chuck Berghofer, Eliot Weisman, Patrick Williams, Willie Nelson, Julio Iglesias, Anita Baker, Barbara Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Jon Secada, Luther Vandross, Leroy Neiman, Quincy Jones, and Patti LaBelle.
Sinatra’s best years, voice-wise were 1955 to 1970. He could still perform in the late 70’s up to 1985 and put on a decent show but his voice wasn’t the same. After 1988, forget it. I loved him very much but his voice was shot after 1988. People just went to his show just out of respect and love, but you couldn’t see the swagger and strut in his step and power of his voice like he had in 1962. Man, he could belt out a beautiful ballad of Three Coins in the Fountain or Moonlight in Vermont in those years. But, let’s face it, everyone gets old. I’m not the same guy as I was when I was 22 years old. Youth is wasted on the young! LoL😂
Great points, totally agree....
I agree too, especially about how his voice was no longer strong enough post-1988. I think he still found big songs that matched his aging voice post-1974, such as "Theme from New York, New York" and "Mack The Knife", but there was definitely fewer. I'm glad he re-recorded a lot of his Capitol songs when he started Reprise in the early 60s, as he sung them much deeper, which would be the ways he would sing them all the way to the mid-80s. There are so many performances he made of those songs were at some points he could almost match the 60s recording in the late-70s. He could have wobbly performances some days of songs, then others were pitch perfect and powerful. As some would say, he could perform bad at time, then other days it was like 40 years just disappeared and he was younger again. Even though his voice was shot in the late 80s early 90s, I wish I was born earlier enough to have seen just one of his shows. He always turned up, and did his best, and respected the audience.
Bowie knew that his end was near and his voice was shit but he didn't deny it at all, and took it straight-on without disguise: the final scene of his final video has him slowly crawling into a pine box, end of video. Sinatra was a man's man and his heartbreak stuff is as real as it gets, but this Duets was not.
@@RareFindMusicVideos When artist get old such as Frank and Elvis, what is left is like Ancient Ruins but even ancients ruins are magnificent to look at.
I always wondered if his voice would have lasted longer and stronger if he hadn't smoked.
I worked with Frank on his first performance on the Jerry Lewis telethon in 1975. I still have the audio recording. I was never star struck of anyone, not even Frank. What i liked most about him was that he demanded perfection from anyone that worked for him. His musicians knew every gesture he made. They were pure perfection to listen to. The performamce he gave was LIVE, no tape delay, no audience. When the band got the cue to play, they played PERFECTLY with zero rehersal. After the studio went dark, he made it a point to thank each and every crew member
Wow, thanks for sharing....
Demanding perfection is not really a positive trait.
He was a one take guy.
Living up to being perfect is not always possible
and does not diminish the character of the person
if they do not perform perfectly.
I got to see him live and it is a damn shame that he
did not take better care of himself.
I bet he was puffing away on a cig and drinking,
while he was performing.
Is that performance here on youtube?
I bought this cd ( to the young folks..those are the small records you can play in the car)set when it first came out(young folks I mean “ dropped”) and I absolutely loved it….and STILL DO!
That you so much for this video being able to see all these wonderful greats!
Glad you enjoyed it..
I wasnt a huge fan of the Duets records, but it shows just what a fantastic song stylist Sinatra was. His voice was past its peak by a couple of decades, but he was still a master of phrasing - he was charisma personified...very cool guy.
Totally agree with all of your points. spot on!
Watching this alone…. but surely I can’t be when you’ve got a big grin…. I guess I’m really not alone at all 🤣😂😅
I have the CD and I when he passed I recall I played the Cd full blast and open all the windows in my first floor apartment. I’ll always remember the day he passed as I remember the day I heard about Elvis’s death. I’m a baby boomer but always admired Mr. Sinatra not only as a performer but as a humanitarian.
I had to watch this again the stars are all brilliant we will never have this talent again.thank you
The way I see it, talent like this never went out of style; it just became a lost art.
Well said...
So fantastic Frank Sinatra and all the duets 💜🙏
Yes, indeed.
@@RareFindMusicVideos I saw Frank Sinatra in concert it was fantastic I will never forget it sweetie 🙏💜🎚️
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THIS...
Glad you liked it!
Wow! Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed it...
I have Sinatra for more than 58 years 24/7 with me! The Boss .. the best ever! Therefore on August 14th this year I give a concert in Amsterdam Concertgebouw to honor my big hero!
🧡Thank You Frank🧡
Wow. Love your channel and content...
Ces deux Albums sont merveilleux. Merci pour cette video.❤🎉
Sinatra, one of the greatest who had "it".
Yes, indeed.
Enjoyed these duets, very mellow
Soulful...
What a great review of great entertainment from a great era. Frank could certainly punch out a song, or on the other
hand caress you with a ballad. And how about some of his duet friends. Jimmy Durante came out of left field for me.
Perry Como and Deano, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gourmet. I'll be watching this over again...
Yes, it is a great show.
So nice to hear these nice comments about Sinatra..... And I really like that they put his wife Barbara in this segment.... She was so good to him, She was so good for him.
Wow, he could sing like that at 78
Amazing....
What a wonderful show the singers today cant match any of these groups of singers today
Right you are...
Talent like this never went out of style; it just became a lost art.
@@treseancann1261 Right you are...
Acho que 'duets' foi a melhor produção fonográfica americana de todos os tempos.
UNTIL NOW I KNOW THAT THIS CD EXIST....AND NOW I AM GOING TO LOOKING FOR THAT...❤❤❤
Hope you find a copy. I believe there was a Duets I and a Duets II
What would we do without VHSs ?
Reminds me of the duets with the late Tony Bennet. However, I preferred Bennet's last duets judging from the quality of his vocals, videography, and context (he was battling dementia and was only more himself when on stage singing.)
I’ve heard about this recording that was released but I never seen it until now because on one of my duets promos it says. Tune in to CBS presents Frank Sinatra duets
Uma beleza! Um luxo a reunião de vozes tão famosas em duetos com o mito Frank Sinatra, "a voz".
Until now I have a complete compilation of Frank Sinatra’s music, duets and everything.
Amazing
unforgetable Frank
Quels talents ! Uniques.

Unfortunately we never saw Elvis get old
@@ronster911 In a way we did see Elvis get old.
Two of the greatest magic!
Incredible
Que Orgullo tan Grande, de estas Figuras Cantar con Frank Sinatra , 🎼🎤🎵🎙🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I believe Frank’s tombstone says: “The Best Is Yet To Come”. 😥
Nope. The original marker did, but his daughters changed it.
The bestes ever aged like a fine wine time tested. Most generous a true BLESSING
Bravo. Thank you
You are welcome...
SINATRA...FOREVER...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Most definitely....
I love Sinatra and have all his recordings, even the L.A. is my lady album and the Trilogy album. Although nobody plays the future part of Trilogy. LoL. Your examples are perfect to debate. His voice in L.A. album and Trilogy is deeper, and he can hit the notes but his voice was much better on his concept albums; richer, vibrant, smoother, and he hit those high notes smoothly with grace. In later years, he strains to hit those high notes and it comes off forced, strained. He would even talk some of the song during the concerts. He was still the best phraseologist ever to sing a song. However, I always would think to myself, as great as he sung NY, NY on Trilogy, how wonderful that song would sound if he recorded it in 1962. When he was in top form and had so much more range. Wow! He would of sung it smoother. You gotta really listen intently to his ballets from the Capital years; the Only the Lonely album. Listen to his stuff from 1955 up to when he did his retirement. Give yourself a week of listening sharply, to his really good stuff. Then, listen to his later stuff, Like L.A. and Trilogy. You'll pick it up. The voice is more grizzled, much deeper. Less smooth.
Sinatra,is one of the best singer of all time.
Frank and Aretha. Classic! :)
Most definitely....
Die kreischt ihn an die Wand.
🏴🍻🍻🍻love the fact that 😋if you don’t like ice cream 😝you don’t like music 😂
Yes..
Por siempre Franky....inmortal..!!❤❤🥂🥂
Buenísimo 👏 👏 👏
Yes
Frank Sinatra es un genio en su estilo de canto , creó escuela de cómo tiene que cantar un buen cantante
no bigband aint getting any better than that!
Right you are
Nice find! 🙂
Yes, great footage...
Yeah, none of this was live, but I see what they were going for. Having owned the CD since it was released and having listened closely many times to it, I would say about half of these duets should’ve been recorded by better artists. But it’s a good CD to have in your collection

Then .. know what you want, write it down and visualize it already there... spend a few min a day reading your wishes and feel it's already there. You will attract it eventually. Law of Atrraction.
Solo el dinero puede juntar, como si tuviera una gran voz, solo ha tenido buena música y canciones.

The weirdest part of Duets that with the exception of Streisand, none of these artists got to sing with Sinatra. It was all studio magic. It was such a missed opportunity. All that being said, the clips on this special are great.
Totally agree...
❤️❤️❤️
Great
Yes, indeed.
Luis Miguel - 0:53, 31:40, & 36:08
🤩⭐🤩⭐🤩⭐🤩⭐🥳🥳🥳🥳
El mejor!
Yes, indeed!
He is so loud, so dominating, too macho, and not too popular with his younger generations after WWII!
Sinatra duets
Incredible performances
Was that a Members Only jacket?
they were not in the same studio at the same time
Correct
None of these people actually met Sinatra because they recorded their parts in separate studios because Sinatra didn’t want anyone to know how terrible he sounded live, before the sound engineers fixed the vocals
Are they in the same studio?
My understanding is that some of the artists may have recorded in the same studio but I don't have any specifics.
Streisand was one of the artists
I wish they got Michael Jackson, James Brown, Harry Connick, Jr., Michael Bolton, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Tom Jones, B.B. King, and Tina Turner to appear.
No doubt. Great suggestion given Frank's deep catalog.
@@RareFindMusicVideos Ikr With today's advanced technology, it would seem possible.
If Michael Jackson wasn't on his Dangerous World Tour at the time, he could've appeared on this special as well.
I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing.
If Elvis didn’t die in 1977….
@@Luca-fp1sn That would have been epic as well.
Sadly, this special hammers home that Sinatra wasn't well by the time Duets was produced. He sounds fine, but the fact he isn't interviewed for his own album is telling. You have everyone talking about the man, but there's not even a single on camera quote from Frank himself.
He really does not sound fine.
I listen to a Sinatra show that is on here in New York City
and they never play any of the songs from any of the
Duets albums and that tells us everything.
I am glad I got to see him live in concert several times,
some of those concerts were great, others were not
and it was sad watching him perform.
The best is doch zu kommen...
DAVVERO!!!!
DAVVERO!!!!
I hate Bono.
Take a sedative, Anita Baker.
Frank Sinatra is my favorite singer of all time, I have followed him for 65 years. I enjoyed this very much but it was all AI, everybody knows it was all done separately.
Taylor Lisa Brown Brian Wilson Kimberly
Yo no entiendo por que los Norteamericanos creen que Julio Iglesias es un buen cantante, por Dios lo que tuvo fue buenos financieros más nada. Una pobre voz .alguien que me diga sus escalas 😂
😊. Love your comment 😊
