    She is so clever. Some actors come across as paper thin. Clearly, Natalie has a gifted mind in addition to her other gifts.

    Really amazing interview! I agree that alarm ruined some of the questions but at same time it somehow made interview more fun to watch IMHO. Her reactions to alarm were sooo cute haha. Hopefully she does many more interesting/amazing performances in her future like she did in Black Swan. Take care, Natalie.

    Well, I think that liking or not Black Swan tells a lot about what kind of person the viewer is.
    I loved it yet I know lots of people who simply hated it.
    I think it might have to do with the ability (or inability) to connect with the main character.

    I’m so late to this but the sex scenes are a small part of this amazing movie and actually told us more of the story! Anyhoo I just watched this movie today and so freaking amazing!! I took ballet from 1st grade to college and the dancing is phenomenal I miss it! But the acting in this movie was and still is brilliant such a great movie!!!! It’s hard to watch you feel so bad for Nina! Such a fantastic film 🥰🥰🥰

    For the record, the reason I use the generic "actor" for all actors in these titles is because there is only so much space for titles and when I have multiple people, calling a woman an actress, then a male an actor, often exceeds the space limit.
    That said, I do believe they are all actors, all comedians are comedians, all directors are directors, etc. I feel comfortable using the word "actress" when I feel the urge. Not a big political issue for me, one way or the other.

  • @BadFluffy
    @BadFluffy 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Is there actually more of a discussion on the use of the word "actor" (which I hear a lot of actresses use) than on the actual content of the interview? Wow.
    Thanks for the interview, it's really good, despite the interruptions. It's so rare to have in-depths conversations with people like Natalie who are asked about how cool it is to work with this or that celebrity or about their personal lives more than about their art and their perspective.

    This film was really amazing and startling in every ways. It's obvious some people won't like because it is more of a surrealistic arthouse horror/thriller about sex and psychology, c'mon, that's a bomb for everyone!!

    There are a number of interviews in which I have discussed films that didn't work with filmmakers. And I will bring up strong criticism, if there is some, in a conversation about a film that was not in release when the interview takes place (as in this case). But I don't see these as confrontive conversations about what I or you or whomever didn't like. Asking an actor to explain what you think doesn't work would kinda suck. A director, maybe.

    My feeling, neverlasting, is that "actor" describes anyone of any sex who acts and "actress" is sexually specific. So I chose, long ago, to err on the side of a general term that cannot offend.

    I loved the interview because Natalie made it fun and interesting but honestly, I didn't like you as an interviewer... first of all, you should NEVER interrupt a person when he or she is speaking... you did it with Natalie a couple of times, second of all, talking to her like if she was your friend was not that nice. I really noticed she got uncomfortable a couple of times with the way you approach the questions. Then, what's the deal with the alarm thing going on and on? That was really annoying for Natalie at some point... Even though you had nothing to do with it, you should be prepare for those kind of things. Then, not remembering where you left a conversation made you look really bad... If the annoying alarm interrupted your conversation, you should write down what was the last question she answered or comment she mentioned so, you can pick it up from there when you continue but, asking Natalie if she remembered where you were in the conversation made you look unprofessional :/. Natalie is such a wonderful woman, a marvelous actress not mention her stunning beauty and she was the sweetest thing on earth with you because, honestly, if I had been in her shoes I would have asked you if you were really prepared to have an interview with me. But I guess everybody is different.

    • @dp30
      @dp30  10 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Antonio Torres i am sorry that my interviews did not prepare you for the specific style, which is conversational, not canned. You will surely find this problem in most of the 900+ half-hours that are posted. My apologies.

    • @nueve08
      @nueve08 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I do understand that you wanted to have it conversational but, it didn't really reach that goal as comfortable for her because of all the inconvenients around and the remarks I mentioned before. Even a conversational interview needs to have steps in the way that you understand how to greet the person, when to be quiet, when to move on wth the next topic, when to stop, when to listen to Natalie (in this case) and even the words and approach you will be using for it. If you don't prepare this (yes, be prepare even for a conversational interview), you'll find yourself mumbling, making comments that are not meant to be respond for her and getting lost in the middle of the conversation (the annoying alarm thing)... honestly, this is the exact thing I saw in your conversation with Natalie. I'm sure you are a well prepared person fro you to have a chance to talk to her or any other celebrity (hate that word) for that matter... I'm just saying that your conversation with her could've been way better. That's all. By the way, I'm totally jealous of you because you had Natalie in fornt of you... that's a life dream for me :(

      Ok.. if she was happy with the outcome then.. i'll shut up now man! cause that's all that matter :).... Totally jealous of you :(... tell me somehting... is she a humble person? just out of curiosity of mine :)

      I found her to be a lovely, generous person. She not only cared to make sure that everyone was safe after the alarm went off, but she made sure I got 30 minutes even when all that alarm stuff messed up the day's schedule. Couldn't have been sweeter.

    I'm not in charge of how people are or are not offended. They are all people who act, therefore they are all actors. Actress does, indeed, distinguish between the sexes,
    I make the sexless choice... even if it does see attached to the male gender.
    Early on, I did tags like "star" or "co-star," etc. And I decided to just keep it as simple as possible.
    It's not "wrong" to use "actress," just more complicated.

    The interview 'escape from tomorrow'. Opportunity to address america's adult worship at church of innocence (disney world) and cultures/film world's misadventures with sexual themed material. The 2 actors were allowed to ramble on endlessly (actors love talking about themselves) and interview spun aimlessly out of control. I felt bad for the director, as he was feeling self-conscious, if put at ease and/or fed interesting questions might have had much to reveal.

    Because language is naturally patriarchal. It WAS men who sculpted society after all. Words which refer to men are naturally applicable across most situations whilst the segregation of women in past societies is reflected in out language.

  • @StrongImaginationA

    Oh, it's a rule, so fucking what? Rules aren't static, espécially rules in language. Language is always evolving, always fluent, and never to be seen apart from the context in which it comes to be. If a female person whose job is acting, wants to be called actor, it is for a reason, and it's perfectly valid.
