Thank you all so much for the likes and comments. It’s really something to be able to share this experience in some way. If you use Facebook or Instagram, I also post short video updates over there @derekcullenoutdoors 🍀❤️🌄
My kids and I really enjoy your videos and we're glad you're going on another trip! We live in the U.S. and have Irish ancestry, so we hope to visit your land someday 😀 Question: what was that statue at the end of this video?
Even though it's 2yrs gone, I appreciate the care that you take in presenting your videos of your 'Walking the Irish way'. I can't wait to return and see more of my ancestors homeland! My island
No messing with faerie forts. That was taught to us at a young age. It was a big part of our culture that is still observed in some respects today. Very important to remember it and pass it on.
Derek, you are probably the most authentic youtubers around. The look of wonder in your eyes and joy on your face!! 🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚♂️🧚♀️ And to think you are makin these videos while wild camping.. Awesome..❤️❤️
Doing great Derek! I love that statue of Manannán Mac Lir, he's one of our ancient Irish sea gods. A few years ago the original statue was removed by sinister individuals with an angle grinder and a cross left in its place- I guess they didn't want a pagan god statue! The statue was damaged and then dumped. They didn't know where it was taken for a long time. Thankfully the maker decided to replace it! (One of the Game of Thrones designers). Later the original was found by an army regiment doing a drill. Mannanán made his return happily! 🥳
just wonderful, how you take us along.....so different from the mainstream hiker video.....all about feelings, bonding with nature, being part of the living creature called mother earth.....it touches my soul
There are two huge Pines in Downhill forest, I hope you saw them much larger than the one you showed. Don’t laugh but I like to hug them I genuinely feel grounded while doing so. Downhill forest is huge and there are lesser known trails that bring you out higher up the mountain too. I was up there about 4 Weeks ago it’s heaven Derek truly amazing space…. Loving the vids and if your ever up this end of the world again with slightly more time on your hands would love to show you around a bit.
Derek, I love the way I can walk these roads vicariously through your videos. Some day I’d love to do a walk for a week or so. I think the loneliness might be tough for me though. You seem to be happy to walk alone.
Derek, some beautiful walking on Day 3. Loved the Fairy Garden, the walk to the Daffodil Field, the cows and Downhill Forest. Loved your singing too🎼😊 Into the Sperrins....😊
Derek I think you could do better discover Ireland adds then the ones they have as your videos capture a true sence of curiosity and adventure. Love the videos keep it up
Apologies for the Indian flag bro thanks for noticing it. Stuck in England it's driving me crazy carnt wait for the freedom of home and the splendid places you have shown us .
Brilliant video again, I like how you take your time to nip off and explore the areas along the way. No rush, just taking it all in. Fair play, all the best for the days ahead 👍
I love the story of when The Celts defeated The Tuatha De Danann. They divided the land in half. The humans took above the ground and The Tuatha De Danann took refuge below the ground. Over time The race of The Tuatha become the fairies we now think of.
You don't. Some packs have better airflow than others but you're going to sweat when you heat up and especially when it is humid. The best you can do is wear a moisture wicking shirt combined with a pack that has good airflow.
Derek everyday a school day with you! Checked up the statue Manannán Mac Lir, I didn't know it was previously stolen and now back again www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-31567991

The magic of Ireland is 100% real 🍀
Highlight of the day watching your report and video. You capture the core of our beings. Thank you.

Ha tbh It’s tricky making the videos out here on a little iPad :) thank you !
Great videos and content Derek, the only problem is if you keep showing the world our beautiful Ireland all the world will come.
But they will bring money with them..
The world is full of Irish people, all having to leave for one reason or another. Many of them hearing the call home.

When walking long distances with a rucksack how do you stop your back getting all wet ?
You don't. Some packs have better airflow than others but you're going to sweat when you heat up and especially when it is humid. The best you can do is wear a moisture wicking shirt combined with a pack that has good airflow.
