Starting my first (non-summer camp) archery lessons today. I've always loved archery, but never really thought about doing it as an adult. They opened up a place 30 minutes from me, and decided to take the opportunity. The only awkward thing is that I'll probably be in a class full of 10 year olds. Wish me luck on that end.
Lol. That's how I felt when I took my first guitar lessons. I was in a class full of kids and shit. I ended up getting a private tutor😆 Saved me the embarrassment and plus I liked the one-on-one lessons much better.
Oh how I wish I could be a professional Archer... Here in Morocco, it turns out to be so expensive to train on archery, and there are no clubs for this sport. 😢
It’s like the beginning of the video is missing just jumps right into “stance”. Normally I complain videos take too long to get to it but blammo here’s the opposite and I like it.
Thanks so much for this video. I’m 67 years old and I’m going to try archery lessons, for the first time in the next few weeks. Before I do that I’m going to practice with your tips. Well done.
It was such a relief to just immediately get into it instead of listening to 1-2 minutes of rambling like so many videos on the internet tend to do 😌THAT'S how you get views and viewer retention, thank you. I'm glad I clicked on your video first. I'm taking an archery 101 class with through my local Parks & Recreation today. I know absolutely nothing about using a bow and arrow so I want to go into it with at least *some* understanding.
As a young 12 year old girl who is self tough in archery thank you so much for this upload and being so good at explains and showing everyone how we should be doing everything smart and safe.
I just started archery and decided to start with a 50LB Recurve and Iove it. I love this tutorial. I learned a lot. The last guy is a trooper, holding that bow that long perfectly still. One strong man for sure.
Wow a 50lb to learn with is quite a hefty weight, I would suggest getting a set of lighter limbs to learn your technique and strengthen the muscles you'll be using. I did exactly the same thing when I started years ago , I bought a59lb compound and thought I'd be an instant Robin Hood lol , needless to say my dreams very short lived 😂
Pay attention the more you train long the more you re exposed to injuries.and it 's very hard to obtain a good technique with this strength. There are Champions who use less than 50 lb without affecting them result.
i am a new sign language interpreter and have been assigned to interpret for a deaf student in his archery practice. As I know noting about archery, it is great to have your videos to give me a ton of vocabulary and information about the sport. I feel better prepared when I go into practice. Thanks!
I've been shooting for 2yrs and have recently taken up bikram yoga. 3 x 90min classes a week and 2 x HIT Pilates a week and its improved my archery ten fold.
I'm not exactly new to archery but i know there is plenty to learn, for instance i just shot my bow a few times and my arrows were decent but not on point, after video i shot a few more times with the tips and noticed my arrow flew straighter then before, thank you for this
Just got a bow for archery season, I'm a decent shot at 20 yards (within 6 inches of aim point) but still have alot to learn. Thanks mate, I'll use everything you said
I just started learning archery and these fundementals remind me so much of the fundementals of playing the violin and fencing. I played the violin for over a decade and a lot of success with playing the violin comes from good posture and good consistent technique. The same goes with fencing. The way you're "sitting" in en garde or "resting" the rapier in your hand can mean a world of difference in your ability to strike your target and move out of the way fast. I love these sort of activities and I can't wait to get to the range again 😊
Great video. Even after a year and a half of archery practicing, I did learn something and will control my wrist position on the draw hand as I struggle with my anchor position. Thanks a lot.
I want to learn archery since my childhood. But I really don't have any money right now to afford this hobby also the place where I live has no such training institute 😟😢. So I repeatedly watch archery training videos. That's all what I can do for myself.
I was in the same boat. Found a decent bow on a resale app that looked great, like I couldn't afford it new. It cost me $50, and came with 6 arrows. They were too short,I'd draw them right off the arrow rest. So, i got longer ones of the same type. THAT broke my bank! $12 each, or 12 for $94.! After monitoring food, gas, and everything else, I got 12 of them. You're right, this hobby is expensive. I still need sights, the little round parts you put on your string on either side of the nock, and maybe the rollers for either side of those. I'm shooting without for now. Last night, my neighbor finally hung the target we split cost on(i did yard work for my hslf--> no out of pocket cost!). He also has a "bare" recurve. First shot, from 35-50yards(,I'm putting a measuring tape on the distance today) and I hit the ring around the bullseye. 15 shots, and 3 arrow hunts later, and im only hitting the backstop. Last shot, light fading, degenerative disc disease playing hell with my nerves...I set my arrow, and my back screams and the precussion burns down to my toes. I sit down, bow in hard, arrow ready to be set again....and I'm mad at my body. Really mad. Took a drink of coffe while considering weather or not to take another shot, or pack it in for the night. Light fading fast, I decide to pack it in. I got arrows in the backstop, so decided to let this last one fly recklessly -- while sitting. I draw, air, let go....fast. Bullseye 🎯. Now, After this video, I hope to do MUCH better. I can see what i was doing wrong with my stance, grip, and release. Hopefully i can at least keep them on the backstop! Thank You for the upload! My other point is: just like any hobby, there are ways around SOME costs, but you WILL find a way if you want to badly enough. Good luck ,everyone
Tbh for a hobby, archer entry level is super cheap. You get get completely set up for 200 bucks including a bow, pack of 12 arrows, a target dummy, arm protector etc. Compared to most other hobbies, thats quite cheap. If you wanna go even cheaper, you can make your own bows from wood. That saves you a hundred bucks easily.
27 and going back to archery after camps and starting some in my very early 20s. watching so I can gain some insight and knowledge before I go. Im also binging archery olympics :)
I'm going to start my first archery lessons at 24. I'm so excited, this is my dream sport and it is not common in my country (Ecuador) 🤗 This lessons are really helpful so thanks you 🥰
Thank you this really helped! Me and my class in gym class are doing archery for the first time. This video definitely helped me, and now I feel much more confident in my self :)
This is very helpful. I started my archery lessons last Friday, and I planning to keep training, please make more video about the prefect training tips for beginners, such as; fitness training for archers, what type of training wear… etc.
Great video man! I am just getting started off in archery and your tips have helped me smarten up what I am learning. It might sound like a stupid question but, is it possible to have a unique finger technique that is comfortable with the drawing hand? I am asking because it feels more effective for me in this case to stabilise the arrow.
I always wanted to learn archery..Still haven't gone for any..but as you said I have observed how they do in films and Olympic..I know 1st 3 steps..thanks a lot for the explanation..I hope I can learn it some day🤞
I have been doing archery for a few months and used to use the plastic bows at the archery school, until I bought my own today! It’s called the Galaxy Aspire and I love it!
I suggest you add some subtitle in your video, cause it will make your lesson more wide-spreading considering there are many people will understand more (there's translation feature innit, I usually use it!)
I'm new to archery but i want to make career in archery . So sir can you tell me do i need to buy equipment at the very beginning or after some home workout and after making my body fit for the sport? I don't have any archery club near me so plz reply
I like the video & explanation, but I find somethings working differently for me. E.g. if i shoot without visor, would ankering my hand in my neck still work? And I was always told that - even though I am right handed - it's the dominant eye which determines the bow hand . So I now have a bow which i shoot with my left hand
I'm not a hunting expert but I would think so :) I expect with hunting it's a case of fitting your feet where you can so the stance will be more narrow

Is there a difference between the stance for targets, vs for hunting?
I'm not a hunting expert but I would think so :) I expect with hunting it's a case of fitting your feet where you can so the stance will be more narrow
