I really hope she is. She was the biggest draw in Wednesday for me. I loved the character and her dynamic with Wednesday and Christie played her brilliantly. So, fingers crossed!!
I believe Weems could still be alive. If she isn’t alive, I think Morticia would become the new principle. I really hope she does return though. There’s not much lore about her. I feel like she IS going to come back in Season 2. I definitely agree with your theory!
I feel like , since weems and morticia had a connection weems really wants to protect wednesday so could've shaped shifted into lurch and take wednesday out of nevermore safely because honestly she really does care about wednesday
I think rather than using another shape shifter it would make more sense for her to have shifted her internal organs to those of an animal able to consume belladonna without ill effect. There was a scene which hinted at an ability to shift internally and out of species in Episode 2 - when Wednesday attended the choir audition and she broke glass with her voice. They went to Weems' office to show one of her ornaments break before going back to Wednesday who said it was "a noise only dogs can hear". They then went back to Weems' office to show her tilting her head slightly. There was no reason at all for them to have gone back to Weems' office unless it had something to do with Wednesday's statement; for me, Weems' shifted her inner ears to listen for a sound she couldn't hear with human ones. As a student she would have obviously attended botany classes, as headmistress she would have known what the current botany curriculum was, was roommates with Morticia, an acknowledged plant aficionado, and was in all likelihood a Nightshade with full access to the Nevermore library which had the greatest collection of Outcast information, including Faulkner's diary, if she hadn't been raised with/by other shapeshifters to inform her fully of her abilities.
It doesn't make sense to me that Wednesday would figure out Thornhill is Laurel gates, convince Weems to help confront Laurel- but take no precautions despite knowing the Gates family hates outcasts. Wednesday knew and proved Garret was trying to poison the Nevermore students when he died- So surely it would occur to one of them Laurel might do the same? They also decided to confront Laurel in a greenhouse full of toxic and carnivorous plants- seems dumb to NOT have antidotes on you or in your system. There is also the chance she did die or is in a coma, but her spirit still roams the school. Would be interesting if when Goody saved Wednesday she made Wednesday into a witch like she was and Wednesday spends the season trying to revive Weems while fighting off Tyler.
I think Principal Weems is for sure still alive! If you put everything in season 1 together you will actually learn that the stalker of Wednesday Addams at the end is her herself, Principal Weems. Weems (as you said BrainPilot) can easily have been using some other shape shifter and could have forfeited her role of Nevermore academy so everyone believes she is dead. This also could have been the plan for Weems choosing one of her fellow friends to shape shift so she has a right to leave the school. I think she has never liked Wednesday addams especially because Gomez chose Morticia instead of her to the Raven dance when they were all just students. I believe Weems can lead to taking revenge on the addams family due to the untold drama between her and Morticia.
She managed to live as long as she has for a reason, any number of things could have happened, I don't think she was killed off that was way too easy, Principal Weems is a huge character on this show, with a lot of fans, pretty sure they will find a way to keep her in this series, now keep in mind she is a shapeshifter, so anything could happen, YES I really believe she will be back in the next installment of Wednesday if not season 2 then the quest to find her in season 3.
