I'm good friends with R.A. Mihailoff who played Leatherface in this movie. He's from the area of PA where I live and my mom used to work with his brother who would always bring in Fangoria magazine to show.
Fun fact but W.E. Sawyer was actually the original name for Drayton in the 1973 script, it's also implied that the Sawyer boys are the byproduct of an incestuous union between Grandpa Sawyer and Mama Sawyer (His daughter).
Fun fact, actors Viggo Mortensen and Tom Everett reunited from the horror film PRISON (1987). It's a violent ghost story. Just something you may want to check out.
The strange thing is that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 seems to ignore the events of Part 2 and is a direct continuation of the first movie... but then the protagonist of Part 2 appears out of nowhere in a cameo in the police scene. What the hell?
I like Leatherfaces progression in this one. Maniacal Cinephile/StitchedtogetherPicturess described it in an interesting way in his series review. Leatherface is like a baby in the first movie, going through puberty in the second, and is a rebellious teenager in this one. Growing his hair out, listening to rock, not taking shit from his family. I think it fits. Aside from him, Ken Foree and Viggo Mortensen really steal this movie. Also the family overall is toned down dramatically in silliness from the first two but that makes the horrible things they do all the more creepy when they otherwise interact like a typical family just going about their evening.
Benny is played by Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, The Devil's rejects). The studio decided to keep Benny alive after a test screening without the director's consent. The little girl is Leatherface's daughter.
Kate Hodge came out in the movie "Rapid Fire" (1992), which starred the late Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee. She also came out in the 1990 television show "She Wolf Of London." You should really watch the movies "Rapid Fire" and "The Crow"
Tobe hooper would only sign on for the sequel if he could make a totally different movie. He didn't want to just make a clone of the original because he knew they couldn't capture the grit and realism of the original. That's why he went with an off the wall crazy sequel.
i like to think of The Texas Chainsaw movies at this point as families with their own different Leatherface in the family. It gets crazy after this movie.
Great reaction, can't wait to you react to the 4th, its one of a kind. 🤣 Regarding the family tree, I believe in this one the woman is Leatherface's Aunt and the others are his cousins as the beginning says only one member of the family was caught which was the oldest brother/uncle the cook. Leatherface and Grandpa escaped to relatives and have been there ever since. As for the little girl its implied that she is Leatherface's daughter. Tex basically says so when they talk about letting Junior (Leatherface) "play some" as he "makes the sweetest damn babies".
Fun fact: Armadillos could fare much netter crossing roads, BUT, when panicked they reflexively leap straight up about 3 feet, so they jump right up to the car instead of it passing over them.
Benny actually died. But due to test screenings the audience liked his character so much that they made it he survived. Ken Foree is a legend in the horror world and people love him.
I love this movie one of my favorites. The actor who plays Fredo is a great actor. His name is Tom Everett they call him the chameleon cuz he can play any type of character in a movie
So originally Benny did die. Test screen audiences feel in love with him and were upset that he died. So they went and reshot the ending with Benny surviving.
The filmmakers intended this to be a follow up to part 2. TCM has the most convoluted continuity ever. #1 - Original, 2, 3 #2 - Next Generation #3 - Remake & its prequel #4 - Original & Texas Chainsaw 3D #5 - Leatherface (2017) #6 - Original & the 2022 film
They really need to pick a continuity and follow through with it. TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D is one of the weaker entries, but I actually think it has the most potential for a good follow-up.
i seen this film super young 8-9 on VHS it left a impression for a very long time…. Leatherface truly doesn’t get enough respect as a sequel it’s so good! New Line cave into the MPAA and also had a studio suite hanging around the filming! The Original Cut is without a doubt a legit Rated X gore filled film so much footage was cut (The “Directors cut” is tame next to the Rated X Workprint version there was also a straight up adaptation from the OG draft made into a 3-4 issue graphic novel (Barley anyone know of this limited series due to it being a Adult Comic book) maybe 30% shops even sold it the graphic novel is fantastic easy to find online (This vision of the film is truly awesome it doesn’t pull punches it’s maybe one of the 1st real torture porn horror films that was mainstream the theatrical cut is good for what it is but, it’s far from the real film! Hopefully at some point Scream Factory gets the rights for a proper Collectors edition of Leatherface (The OOP Laserdisc is the best home video version to date as far as having tons of cool extras that have never been ported to dvd or Blu-Ray! The Rated X Workprint is around but, for those not familiar with Workprints it may disappoint you the PQ is 7.5/10 it’s more then likely from a betamax master (65-75% of all Workprints were usually on betamax tapes due to the higher quality it has! The original cut both Benny & Leatherface die the original ending is also much better imo
I think that this one, despite being part 3, is a direct sequel to part 1. Drayton was arrested and Leatherface went with grandpa to their relatives in another part of Texas. A while back I tried to piece it all together as far as family relations and who’s who. I’ll have to go over that again. And if I remember correctly the ending was supposed to be different and that’s why it definitely looked like Benny was killed but things got changed to have him survive
Yeah, in the original ending Benny died and Michelle encountered a police car taking the little blond girl away. Fans liked Ken Foree, and the studio figured if they made another sequel, they could bring him back. But the film bombed, and New Line Cinema passed on making TCM 4. I prefer the Theatrical ending anyway, as Alfredo's demise would have been too underwhelming otherwise.
@@dustinloucks1555 There's no version available that has the original ending. Maybe a work print, if it still exists, but it has no official release. Might have to just watch it unrated, then move to the alternate ending option on the DVD.
I like when Alfredo says "f*ck u mister!" and sings his "m*ther effer don't tell me what to do" song, and Ken Foree saying "What kind of sick sh*t is this!?" before wildly blasing the sawyer house with his AR15. lolol.
I own the DVD, which includes the Unrated Version. It's actually quite tame compared to some of the other films. It's highly believed by the film-makers the MPAA singled it out. Cannon Films got fed up trying to obtain an R rating for TCM 2, and they released it unrated instead. The MPAA was not pleased, and New Line Cinema cut around eight minutes of footage from TCM 3.
The general consensus is that the MPAA absolutely hated slasher movies in the 80's and early 90's as that was the era of famous serial killers and the MPAA was concerned that Hollywood was distastefully exploiting this subject matter. On the other hand, action movies were permitted to have more graphic violence as the ratings board tended to see action movies as macho BS that wouldn't offend or disturb anyone.
According to part 3"s director, much of the gore footage went missing. Before the later 90's it wasn't unusual for trimmed footage to be thrown into a dusty cardboard box and then forgotten, or for the footage to be literally thrown away.
@@ToylandChairman666 The workprint stuff would be rough VHS quality, though, similar to some of the Friday the 13th stuff that's surfaced. Most of the negative trims seem to have been lost (and to this day none of the negative trims for Friday the 13th part 2, 3, 5, and 7 have ever been found, it sucks there was no apparent oversight of what the editors and the studio did the footage. One thing that is noticeable is that part 2, 5, and 7 were all rejected by the MPAA a lot requiring Paramount to do a lot of trimming. So I wonder if someone at Paramount vindictively destroyed the footage due their annoyance with the whole ratings board situation. Well, they did find a memo dated to 1993 which ordered the destruction of Part 7's negative trims. After all it's said that Paramount's leadership resented the series and only kept making them due to how much profit they made.
William Butler who plays Ryan in this movie also played Michael in Friday the 13th Part 7 and another character in Freddy's nightmares so he's in two of my three favorites of franchises.
It's Ken Foree (from Dawn of the Dead 1978) Glad he survived at the end! Have to say, prefer 3 over 2, it returned to its horror roots. THIS is the sequel I needed to the original 😉
I always thought of it as Leatherface survived part 2 somehow cuz he’s the franchise but of course ChopTop and his father passed away. Anyway now in 3 he’s living with his moms side of the family who are also cannibal killers.
14:20 You're looking at this the same way you looked at Samuel L. Jackson in True Romance. It wasn't considered to be some kind of special appearance at the time because nobody knew who he was yet. Check out Viggo's imdb. Before this, he was in an episode of Miami Vice and a handful of things the average viewer never heard of. And even after he started showing up in more recognizable titles, he was still playing like the 17th banana. It wasn't until GI Jane that he started to get a little bit of recognition, but that didn't translate into instant stardom. Lord of the Rings is what made him a household name, and for a lot of people it seemed like he came out of nowhere. Then ya look back and notice him popping up in like Young Guns II or Crimson Tide, and it's like "Holy crap! I'd actually seen him in things before! I didn't even realize." Case in point: I've seen this movie before, a _long_ time ago. Like when it was a new release on VHS. And I had absolutely no idea he was in it until I started watching this video.
I don't see the hate Part 3 gets. I always liked this one. It might have even been the first Texas Chainsaw movie I ever watched since it came out when I was a kid.
This one was actually filmed in California I believe. No parts of Texas looks like that. West Texas comes close, but not quite. I actually live in south Texas a little over an hour from the location where the original movie was filmed. The gas station in the original is a souvenir shop now with all kinds of horror memorabilia. They also sell BBQ there... lol.
Benny was supposed to die in the original cut, but test audiences liked him so much that the producers decided to remake the ending which was filmed by the assistant director with out the main director knowledge. The main director didn't find our until the premiere and I don't think he was happy about the change.
This movie and the next treat the previous 2 as they don't exist, basically starting hear almost every film is a reboot. Also armadillos can jump surprisingly high.
This is the first sequel that's an alternative continuity, most of the TCM sequels are alternative sequels to the original that ignore the rest like this
I agree with the Mrs. about the family lineage. I know for reals that this one tries to be more of a requel than a continuation, but that's what I too believed in when I first saw this movie; Leatherface and Grandpa are the only survivors from the 2nd movie and they move in with their aunt and their cousin-brothers and cousin-sister (because inbreed and all =P), but for the fun of it let's say that this is true (don't believe it, that's fine and I don't care) =) Originally Ken Foree was suppose to die in the movie, but the test audience loved his character so much that they let him live, and honestly, who doesn't love Ken Foree?! He's always awesome! Dawn of the Dead, From Beyond (which you two should react to, that one and Re-Animator because they both make a great double feature) and The Devil's Rejects! The dude's an icon!
My ranking for this franchise tends to upset some people in the horror community, cause I full on Hate part 2 and actually like 3D. But I rank them.... 9. TCM part 2 8. TCM part 3 (Leatherface) 7. TCM part 4 (Next Generation) 6. LeatherFace (2017) 5. TCM (2022) 4. TCM (the Beginning) 3. TCM 3D 2. TCM (remake) 1. TCM (1974)
All of them are direct sequels to the first one. Also, in the original continuity, there are 7 movies, not 4. The extra 3 that you're not mentioning are - Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013), Leatherface (2017), and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022). The 2017 one is a prequel to the original. And, of course, there are also the two remakes - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), which is a prequel to the 2003 remake. I hope you watch them all.
Ray Forrester 0 seconds ago Also the family in the first one are all three brothers. In the second one Chop Top is the twin brother of the Hitchhiker from the original. That’s his corpse at the beginning of 2 he’s wearing on the truck during the bridge scene.
Can't wait for your reaction on Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Next Generation soon. By the way, there is another alternate ending in this third movie of Texas Chainsaw Massacre where Benny is really die, the woman left alone and laugh watching the daughter drive away in a police car.
This was the first one of these I ever saw. Scared the shit out of me and my friend as a ten year old. I know this one gets a lot of hate from hardcore fans, but I honestly don't see why. Viggo Mortensen is awesome in this, Leatherface's look in this one is the best he's looked in all of the movies, and the soundtrack kicks ass. If only the MPAA didn't hack this one up so much. Still, I have fun with TCM III.
Y'all saw that girl in the begging right who was a news reported and she hade like a scared look to her face I have a feeling that was the girl from the last one
Can't wait until you guys get to 2003 version with Jessica Biel. From "7th Heaven" to "what in the heavens is she DOING here!?" I also enjoyed the 3D version (later in the franchise) with Alexandra Daddario. But the 2003 versions scared me a lot (and I love horror) so I was surprised that it felt like fresh take.
The film's initial X-rating was due to violence. Jeff Burr told the story that the ratings problem occurred when the foreign market liaison for New Line saw the cut and freaked out because it was too violent for International sales. They started cutting the next day and the only reel they didn't change was the first one because it had the title credits on it.
wow I loved that you two reacted to this. This one gets hate but i loved it. I can't wait to see you guys watch part 4 with Renee and Matthew. It was a crazy mess but fun.
@@alucard624 I read a review where someone where someone said Matthew had WAY too good of a time playing Vilmer. I loved this performance, he played it up.
I don’t the third one ignore the second one even though that was the original plan cause there’s a few clues I think kind of proves that they’re connected
I still think the 1 is the best. Benny is my favorite character in this movie because he had a lot more charisma than any of the other characters. I didn't find any of the family that interesting - not even Leatherface surprisingly, so I don't have a favorite this time.
Even the unrated version is extremely tame compared to any other slashers it was really just the ratings board hating on these films in general. Also there is a Texas Chainsaw Massacre porn parody it's called Texas Chainsaw vibrator
At this point, the best thing to do with a lot of these movies is to look at them as their own movies. Connecting them together is a fever dream

Part 2 is a direct sequel to TCM 1
TCM 3 also
TCM 4 also

That's awesome. The entire soundtrack is a fantastic metal album.

Indeed a great movie! Unique in story and effects. Good stuff there!
Nothing fun about this
The strange thing is that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 seems to ignore the events of Part 2 and is a direct continuation of the first movie... but then the protagonist of Part 2 appears out of nowhere in a cameo in the police scene. What the hell?
Every time I see Viggo Mortensen in something I'm always reminded of his Tex character in this movie
the arms over the head thing is hillarious
She looks like Gary from Team America World Police when he was flailing his arms in the back of that Jeep.
The "he's trying to be nice to you" cracked me up. LMAO!
13:58 - That is Ken Foree. He is also in Dawn of the Dead (and cameos in the remake), The Devil's Rejects and the Halloween remake.

Benny is played by Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, The Devil's rejects). The studio decided to keep Benny alive after a test screening without the director's consent. The little girl is Leatherface's daughter.
yeah and she's 44 years old now and a total hot babe!!
Kate Hodge was the star of the fun early '90s werewolf TV series, She-Wolf of London.
24:28... me too!! so many memories.
The Devil's Rejects borrowed a few things from this, including the Benny actor Ken Foree.

West Texas looks similar to what's shown in this movie, with the mountains, etc.. esp around the El Paso area.
Babi Sawyer is Leatherface's daughter, though it isn't confirmed directly in the film. She doesn't appear in any of the other films.
yeah except in Friday the 13th part 7 where she plays young telepathic Tina.

The little girl was leatherface's daughter and they are the only ones alive!
Agreed!
Cool reaction as always Mr. & Mrs. Movies, you both take care and have a great weekend
Cool to see Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead in this
I love this one just as much as the original. The version of the family in this one is FUCKED UP! lol
Poor Leatherface, all he wanted was for someone to check out his mixtape!
Was that an alternate ending? I remember at the end the cops showed up and the little girl pops up in the back of the cop car.
The 2 leads in the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie your going to watch went on to become big A -list Academy Award winners.
My ranking for this franchise tends to upset some people in the horror community, cause I full on Hate part 2 and actually like 3D. But I rank them....
9. TCM part 2
8. TCM part 3 (Leatherface)
7. TCM part 4 (Next Generation)
6. LeatherFace (2017)
5. TCM (2022)
4. TCM (the Beginning)
3. TCM 3D
2. TCM (remake)
1. TCM (1974)
Imma going to service you real good 👍Perfect deadpan expression by Kate Hodge saying I'm disgusted and intrigued at the same time.
"I wish you'd call me Tex" :(
That little lady is where the faces daughter
All of them are direct sequels to the first one. Also, in the original continuity, there are 7 movies, not 4. The extra 3 that you're not mentioning are - Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013), Leatherface (2017), and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022). The 2017 one is a prequel to the original. And, of course, there are also the two remakes - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), which is a prequel to the 2003 remake. I hope you watch them all.
the second one reminds me of the tim burton style of "batman & robin" where all the characters are super cheesy and comical
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" was my favorite, I think it's underrated. Matthew McConaughey plays an excellent mad man.
🍿Checking in 9:26 A.M...👀
Armadillos can carry leprosy! Nice pet haha

Also the family in the first one are all three brothers.
Militant lumberjacks, who knew they would radicalize?
This was the first one of these I ever saw. Scared the shit out of me and my friend as a ten year old. I know this one gets a lot of hate from hardcore fans, but I honestly don't see why. Viggo Mortensen is awesome in this, Leatherface's look in this one is the best he's looked in all of the movies, and the soundtrack kicks ass. If only the MPAA didn't hack this one up so much. Still, I have fun with TCM III.
And the little girl is Leatherface's daughter. Not Tex.
You guys have GOTS to watch The Loved Ones
Next Generation is beyond nutty and not necessarily in a good way either. Ole Matthew goes SO over the top in acting in that flick.
@@alucard624 I read a review where someone where someone said Matthew had WAY too good of a time playing Vilmer. I loved this performance, he played it up.
You guys should react to Waxwork and Waxwork ll
Can you guys react to The Paranormal Activity movies? It would be great for the month of October and Halloween.
number 2 is miles better than three but i’m glad someone finally gives this forgettable movie some appreciation.
2 is garbage
@@nickfanzo to people who have no taste i’m sure!
@@horrorsthetics no it just sucks. The first is the only good movie of the series
That's 1 Reboot Direct Sequel down 2 more 2 go (Texas Chainsaw 3D 2013 & Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022)!
I don’t the third one ignore the second one even though that was the original plan cause there’s a few clues I think kind of proves that they’re connected
Poor armadillo.
I still think the 1 is the best. Benny is my favorite character in this movie because he had a lot more charisma than any of the other characters. I didn't find any of the family that interesting - not even Leatherface surprisingly, so I don't have a favorite this time.
a chainsaw with a snorkel
Even the unrated version is extremely tame compared to any other slashers it was really just the ratings board hating on these films in general. Also there is a Texas Chainsaw Massacre porn parody it's called Texas Chainsaw vibrator
Kate was in a few TV shows
