I appreciate the kind words :) for me it's not about the views really, I just love making content and if people watch it that's awesome! If not, well at least I tried and enjoyed making it haha
You don't have to split it track the copy and paste segment. Just select the segment and copy and when you paste it will only grab that section you had highlighted
Pls Ive been looking for this for a long time and finally I found u!! You're literally a life saver. It kinda took a while to download but it still worked.
i haven't been able to find where to enable "mask" below the position section in the edit event effects. besides that, everything seems simple and easy to understand.
This might not make it to you on an older video, but I don't have the 'mask' button for some reason, do you know how to enable it? Great tutorial by the way!
While I hope you have figured it out by now, this is more for the people also searching for the answer. There is no mask option if you have Movie Studio Platinum, it's a Pro feature. According to google, there are ways around it, but I'm still trying to get them to work 😤 EDIT: Follow the vid tutorial, but when it comes time to add/tick the "mask" use the "Cookie Cutter" effect instead, and position it where you want it (you'll have to mute the bottom vid layer to see what you're doing, don't forget to unmute it when you're done). Then add your blur effect. If your blurred area needs to move, follow Movie Studio Zen's video from 22 Jul 2011; it explains the additional steps a lot better than I could. It uses version 11 of Platinum, but the same principles apply for later versions too 😄
Omg you're a hero man. I was so used to the built in FX in 14 "witness protection", I was shocked to learn that they took it out of 18 but this works perfect; I actually used the rectangle instead; but thanx so much.
followed your vid step by step but when i come to the point of the pixel sliders the effect just does not take, i've tried pixel, blur and others and nothing happens. what am i missing? any thoughts appreciated.
tl;dr because 8 minutes for this is ridiculous there is no bespoke fx in vegas for blurring a specific part of a video you have to copy the clip you want to blur, put it in a new video track above the base clip, crop it and blur *that*
Nobody said it but i will, the tutorial is perfect but there´s a problem,if you recorded a video using a cellphone in vertical position you cannot use pan crop because you already use it on a blur selection, sad, tiny detail but it doesn´t work with vertical videos i mean,it does work but when you try to make it full screen as an unboxing it messes things up.
i have a question, i have a video that my friend is working oh and he put some kind of wave blur on the video when he was trying to edit it himself and he asked if i can remove it seeing how its the original video and doesnt have a copy before the edit, so my question is how do i restore the video and remove the blur without having to just cut out the blur part
It looks great while I'm in Sony Vegas, but the rendered video has much less blur/pixels, so that whatever's "censored" shows through anyway. I can't get the finished product to look like the preview. Am I rendering in the wrong format or something?
Good, clear explanation, and your delivery speed was perfect. I assume we are apply pixelation as a TRACK effect to the upper (copied) track. That coulda been clearer. Oh, a very small thing: When you set your mask area keyframe and delete the key at the start of the clip, you don't need to drag your new key to the beginning. Since it's now the ONLY key, it covers the whole clip no matter where it sits in time. Great job on the tut. It gave me just what I needed!
been binge watching these to get my editing skill up, if i ever get popular on TH-cam ima shout you out! wouldn't be able to get there without you if i do lol
Just seen your channel and I have subscribed! I use Vegas 20 now, but much of what I have seen here works with Vegas 20 as well. Now, let's say I have a video and in the top left corner I infrequently get a text appearing - that I would really like to get rid of, but NOT blur or pixelate, so that the video behind is unaffected. Now here in your example, you use the PIXELATE option to just blur out th selected part. But what option from the EFFECTS would you use so that text is removed, leaving the original video behind it unaffected? Or does this require a different technique? cheers - Lee (UK)
can you guys tell me how to save thing 4 real i go to save button and i go where i saved it and its there but in vegas form when i click it it opens vegas and shows me video can you pls help how to save it like a real video ty
mine wouldn't follow not matter how I moved the anchors it was still fixated in the starting position and never followed edit: (apparently it only didn't work in the preview but after rendering the file it all worked out in the output video) thanks for the useful video
Many thanks for the very good and informative video. I may not thank you enough but these tutorials are so instructive and preicious for dummies like myself :D Keep those vids coming bro!
Hi , thanks so much for your crack. It really works. But from the beginning it did not work for some reason, I updated visual studio and oh my god it worked. Thank you!
This is super awesome, however when I duplicate the layers and stack the videos on top of each other, it gets INSANELY laggy, any solution by any chance?
Nice video, thank you! However, is there a way to make the mask automaticaly track the item I want to blur out? This method is good for short clips, but for a 10 minute video where the item moves around much, this takes forever to do. Thanks ;)
For some reason I can't delete the Position at min 04:18... Thus when I add the pixelate Event, doesn't work...
Pretty straightforward and easy. Thanks, very useful guide.
it hurts to look at views .... you're sooooo underrated bro :(
BTW great tutorial!!! :)
I appreciate the kind words :) for me it's not about the views really, I just love making content and if people watch it that's awesome! If not, well at least I tried and enjoyed making it haha

Wow, random comment with useful info, thanks! :D
Pls Ive been looking for this for a long time and finally I found u!! You're literally a life saver. It kinda took a while to download but it still worked.
Thank you!!I just wasn't getting my head around it but in just under 8 minutes, you explained this about as clearly as it could *Ever* be explained!
2 years later it still works perfectly fine, thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the quick and easy censor guide you saved me like 20mins of confusing myself.
i haven't been able to find where to enable "mask" below the position section in the edit event effects. besides that, everything seems simple and easy to understand.
I did defocus but i want to focus again after the clip. how do i fade it into focusing?
This might not make it to you on an older video, but I don't have the 'mask' button for some reason, do you know how to enable it? Great tutorial by the way!

thanks, good narration, concise and to the point with clear vocals and without unnecessary commentary/advertising
Excellent. Thanks.
solo una cosa te dire:
In Spanish and English!
la mejor explicacion que he visto en este tema...
The best explanation I've seen on this topic.👏👏👏🎬
Omg you're a hero man. I was so used to the built in FX in 14 "witness protection", I was shocked to learn that they took it out of 18 but this works perfect; I actually used the rectangle instead; but thanx so much.
i just tried again and would not pixelate ? did the hole thing and would not work?
I've done it before and worked ?
followed your vid step by step but when i come to the point of the pixel sliders the effect just does not take, i've tried pixel, blur and others and nothing happens. what am i missing? any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks was trying to figure this out as a black bar was unsightly, it's so easy, but counter intuitive.
But how to blur a limited area across an entire timeline of many clips?
Your videos have helped me figure out this program. Easy to follow instructions. Thank you
This was a great tutorial. Great job walking through every step and panning to where you're talking about!
I right click and I don't see "insert video track" I only see insert audio track.
everytime i try this it just blurs my hole screen?
tl;dr because 8 minutes for this is ridiculous

thx bro. Perfect info however I try add two masks and pixelate and dosnt work ;-(
I just get a white square around what I’m trying to pixilate. Nothing changes. Can’t figure out why that is.
Thank you so much! Needed this for an R6 montage I'm making and it worked perfectly. You deserve more subs!
I was struggling to figure this out because I wasn't aware of the mask option in pan/crop.
Thank you!! :)

Thanks, this helps me improve my Sony Vegas editing skills further!
thank you. Simple and straight to the point!
The area doesnt drag or move

Can I do the same thing you did in this vid and blur it out with gaussian blur?
Great tutorial! Thank you for not having a 35 minute intro! Good job man!
This the first tutorial video I watched that didn't work for me. Is there a difference in Vegas Pro 18?
Thank you, I've been looking for a long time
it wont let me drag the mask down for some reason, have to use the text box.
Excellent stuff.
Was scratching my head trying to use the cookie cutter function but so glad this is easier for me to use. :)
Holy shit I was looking for this. The motion tracking just wasn't working and it's just banging my head against the wall but this is so easy.
When i rendered the video it was just fully black screen
Good tutorial. How can I edit a face to smooth out things like wrinkles, blotches, etc. Thanks.

I have one problem when i pixelate the area I please it pixelates half of my video
Sometimes it seems to crash while rendering either at 13% 43% or 99%
aside from that it works like a charm
Excellent tutorial. Thank you. I love Vegas but really only use it a few times a year so...much to learn.
Thanks man! This worked great, I appreciate it!
Why need to copy section? You could do this on orginal section
Is it the last build? Can't find live version :(
I feel more educated now.
Have a like.
It does not work for me (Using vegas pro 17) The layer becomes invisible
Great one mate, understand completely. Subbed.
this is excellent! just got vegas the other day and have been marathoning your videos. (also nice music, sounds like an animal crossing mix?)
Good ear!
mine wouldn't follow not matter how I moved the anchors it was still fixated in the starting position and never followed edit: (apparently it only didn't work in the preview but after rendering the file it all worked out in the output video) thanks for the useful video
what a underrated great youtuber thank u man
bro, i had a problem with the pixels, they get smaller and ther return to the original figure. how can I solve this?
What am I doing wrong? I literally copied what u did but it has no affect
How do I blur out multiple areas?
I did this but it blurred the video & you can only see what you wanted to blur.
why cant I move the whole pixelated area??
Thank you. Such a simple thing to do, yet important.
Many thanks for the very good and informative video. I may not thank you enough but these tutorials are so instructive and preicious for dummies like myself :D
Keep those vids coming bro!
Nice dude, Learning a lot from your channel
Great tutorial! Thank you so much 🙏 I'm just starting out my channel, and this was very helpful.

Hi , thanks so much for your crack. It really works. But from the beginning it did not work for some reason, I updated visual studio and oh my god it worked. Thank you!

Question Here! Which Effect Should I Use to Blur Properly! linear Blur, Or Quick Blur. Or Something Else!
Tysm, did everything as described
Thanks for explaining this and step-by-step as it was very easy to understand. This is gonna help me so much with the TH-cam police. LOL!
Nice video, thank you! However, is there a way to make the mask automaticaly track the item I want to blur out? This method is good for short clips, but for a 10 minute video where the item moves around much, this takes forever to do. Thanks ;)
How do you do the splitting thing btw
How to blur a PNG. File put in. I got Captain Jack Sparrow holding poo, and I want the PNG poo pixelated out.
Great video. Clear explanation and achieves the intended result. Thanks.
simple and ez. Love it. btw how do u make the video run backward at 6:47 ?
Thank you! Super helpful.
wtf. does not work on Sony Vegas 14.0.
Followed the steps exactly and it blurs the entire video, not the specified region.
I had to recreate each masking region for it to work.
Exactly what I needed. Thanks :)
Super Helpful!! Thanks a lot!!
Very useful guid. Thanks
thank you for this very helpful tutorial
