The Baptism is arguably the greatest scene in the history of film. It's beautifully executed and equal parts brutal and mesmerizing. Watching Michael Corleone speak on behalf of his nephew while his men assassinate the other heads of the Five Families as well as Moe Greene really speaks of the nature of being a criminal kingpin.
I tend to agree with you, but the Sonny hit was what started it. I think that's why they chose that one. You wouldn't have one without the other. Plus, they f'ed him up.

I can agree with that, because it usually doesn't even get aired on TV because of how graphic it is. They usually skip that scene, and go to the scene where Robert De Niro's character talks about how Joe Pesci's character was whacked.

So Henry Hill wasn't actually an associate of the the Lucchese crime family? But the Godfather, being a fictional tale, and having been purposely scrubbed of any mention of the word "Mafia," was real? Thanks for clearing that up. And yes, that's how the US Mafia largely made its money, through illegal enterprise. No, I never saw it firsthand but I've watched court testimonies from Mafia figures and read everything I could get my hands on.
I rather liked the car bomb hit on the baker in Godfather II where Michael Corleone takes an appropriate eye for an eye vengeance for the dynamite killing of his first wife Appolonia. I wonder why this scene was deleted from the theatre release of Godfather II.
My favorite is Casino. Just how he was narrating the entire movie up to that point and was still narrating it, but was interrupted with a bat to the knee.
I never knew the depth of my bias when it came to Good Fellas. I thought to myself, ‘How can this not be number 1?’ And then The Godfather scene popped up. Duh on my part! Well played, WatchMojo, well played!
In real life Tommy DeVito of Goodfellas was a 6' 2" psychopath even worse that what was portrayed in the movie and his actual death was much more gruesome. John Gotti considered him to be a punk and he had him locked away in a room to be tortured for over a week before he was killed.
Personally, I think that the movies about the mafia have brought both fascination and horror for me. But I can withstand the horror while being fascinated at the same time.
Carlos Bozzo r u fucking kidding me Tommy devito in goodfellas was just as crazy as Nicky well I do agree wit u that Nicky might’ve been worse by a lil
Sonny's death being #1 makes sense, it upset audiences since we loved him as that big brother who wanted the best for his sister and family in general. Never easy to watch that scene...
Vitos revenge was the best for me. He waited a lifetime to avenge his father and did it the most O.G way possible. Literally sliced his chest open in his own house and with his men all around him lol
De Niro's Al Capone killing of one his henchman with the baseball bat was awesome - the background music, the acting, and the sheer fear he instilled on everyone was pretty cool.
There is a reason that many consider Godfather one of the best films of all time. Let alone the best mob movie. Every scene on the first Godfather picture was perfect. Every scene.
dfss csss i have to majorly disagree that is your opinion 😂 but its considered one of his best movies of all time he literally carries a movie for almost 3 hours. Its a good movie and isn’t over the top except for the ending which wasn’t bad. Ot was to show the brutal violence of the 80’s which was unheard of in The Godfather age.
It’s simply called M203. Nobody says an M-16 with a M203 attachment. And bitch please, I spent 10 years in a combat unit. I know military nomenclature.
My family grew up next to Anthony Spilotro (Nicky Santoros character in Casino) and he used to pay the neighborhood kids lots of money to write down the license plates of all cars near his house hahaha
pcnote ohk. thanks mate!! And your English is fine. It's just a language, as long as the other understand it's just a form of communication. Cheers!! 👍
nicky and dominick santoro from casino was one of my all time favorite scenes from a movie... it was graphic and violent but the entire time you felt bad for nicky as he begged for his brothers life.
One of my favorite mob hit scenes is when they blow up micheal corleones car when apolonia starts the car. She is so proud and wants to show micheal that she can drive it over by herself and Michaels realization of whats going to happen just a second too late. I think its pretty dramatic and an important part of micheals personality from then on.
De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci in almost all of them.
Of course, but who would've expected Frank Whaley to be in 2 of them!
Yup and now they’re back in the new Netflix Film “The Irishman”
Kings of mob movies
Adriatik Laci cuz they’re the best
Tell me, did u get to watch The Irishman? It's on Netflix. It stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel. And its directed my Martin Scorsese. Heard of it?
The killings during the baptism in The Godfather should’ve been the number one spot. IMO
Until your children are baptized and you start thinking about The Godfather...
OMG YEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!! I mean, ALL FIVE HEADS OF THE FAMILY! BRILLIANT HITS! WatchMojo be fucking up!🙄
Sean Joseph Numero uno, without a doubt.
I tend to agree with you, but the Sonny hit was what started it. I think that's why they chose that one. You wouldn't have one without the other. Plus, they f'ed him up.
Honestly, the baptism scene is not only the best out of mob hits, but also one of the best scenes in history. How the hell is it not here?
My favorite hit
Maybe because it's multiple hits instead of just one?
That is a possibility, but it is so amazing that it should not have been overlooked
cuz it was a montage. I preferred fanucci's death in GF2.
awesome420ication ye Fanuccis death was bloody great. Personal, ruthless and cold.
I still think the cornfield scene in “Casino” was the most brutal.
I also think that it is pretty brutal but I would say the scene with the vice
Yea that was pretty bad......I went to the Mob Musueum in Vegas and saw the prop they used...gives you chills
T F Wow. It would for me, too. :)))
Agreed! One of the most violent. Another was the guy getting cut in half with the chainsaw in Scareface in the hotel.
I have watched a lot of violent films and this scene still makes me squirm. It's almost a little to real.
When Leo DiCaprio, Mark Walbergh and Matt Damon are together, I can't tell them apart.
Exactly. I was confused AF 🤣

Diego García Gonzalez BROO EXACTLY

The Casino one is brutal - gunned down is one thing, bludgeoned to an inch of life and buried is something else.
Casino really was a bit much for me, one of the few I turned away for/felt it was a bit much even if I didn't like him.

@@tillerman7272 but they were dragged and burried in said cornfield ;-P
@@tillerman7272 but actually not with bats, but with fists and kicks lol

The Casino hit should've been second. God, that's one of the most haunting scenes I've seen in a movie.
That bastard had it comming
I can agree with that, because it usually doesn't even get aired on TV because of how graphic it is. They usually skip that scene, and go to the scene where Robert De Niro's character talks about how Joe Pesci's character was whacked.

It might be #1 if the character wasn't such a prick. He tortured, maimed and killed people for little to no reason.
I feel like Fredo in Godfather 2 deserved a spot. Not only was it a classic style hit, but it meant more when it was the Don executing the hit on his own brother

The Boz that hit wasn’t exciting and most memorable though, the shit was just sad... FREDO!!!!
The murder of Don Fanucci in Godfather 2 is my all time favorite mob hit. Everything about that scene is perfect.

Shit no, those movies need the fucking swearing.
The hit Micheal put on the 5 families should be #1 in my opinion because in one move he destroyed all his enemies
Michael being at a Baptism while all that cold blooded murder is going on. And renouncing satan in the same breath. That should have been NUMBER ONE!!! Who ever made the list wasn't on the JOB🔫🔫🔫

Carlos Bozzo r u fucking kidding me Tommy devito in goodfellas was just as crazy as Nicky well I do agree wit u that Nicky might’ve been worse by a lil
Fredo’s hit was the saddest and most powerful hit in my opinion
After all those years it still is.
“Mob life is rough...”
I’d argue you’d better pray to see the next day.
Alonzo from Training Day should've gotten an mention
Totally man, that russian mob job was heavy
True but its a rather a gang movie then a mob movie
Jason Nobody Pulp Fiction wasn't a mob movie either..
This grill Is not a home thats right
cdp619 it's basically the same as sonny's hit. Only not as memorable.
Sonny's death being #1 makes sense, it upset audiences since we loved him as that big brother who wanted the best for his sister and family in general. Never easy to watch that scene...
If more than 1 was allowed from the same movie:
1.Sunny's wack.
2.Michael kills the Cop and the Turk.
3.Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes.
1. The "meeting of the five families"
2. Clemenza kills Carlo
3. Michael killing Solozzo and Cpt. McClusky
It seams you like The sequel more than part 1.I love it too but the first one is just untouchable for me.
+Mihael Tomov these are all from the first one
Mine would be;
1. Sonny's whack
2. Carlo's whack
3. Don Ciccio
4. The five family heads
Fredo killed from the order of Michael...your own brother is the ultimate
As far back as I could remember I always wanted to paint houses
Vitos revenge was the best for me. He waited a lifetime to avenge his father and did it the most O.G way possible. Literally sliced his chest open in his own house and with his men all around him lol
De Niro's Al Capone killing of one his henchman with the baseball bat was awesome - the background music, the acting, and the sheer fear he instilled on everyone was pretty cool.
"Please show mercy! look in your hard-drive!" "...file not found"
This is one of the most accurate lists of WatchMojo.
0:57 that blood splatter sound effect goes so well with it
They're gonna have a field day with Netflix's The Irishman
Bloated and not really new. Ray Ramono was actually the best acting job. It was a remake of Hogfa.
Great movie....
No they won't. I've never before been bored during a "mob" movie. That turd was 3 1/2 hours of drudgery wrapped in a week old newspaper.
All the hits in The Godfather are number 1!
@mo zack
The baptismal scene!!! Mike cold as ice!!! And many people dead as door nails!!! That should have been number ONE!!!
There is a reason that many consider Godfather one of the best films of all time. Let alone the best mob movie. Every scene on the first Godfather picture was perfect. Every scene.
Michael Corleone, do you renounce Satan?
"I do."
Huh , How can I renounce myself?
kevincarter2020 “I do nenounce him.”
I guessed Number One before watching this video. If they had allowed multiple hits from any franchise then The Godfather would get all of them.
You're damn right on that. Heck, the first Godfather movie would take up about four or five slots on the list itself.
The True Romance scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper is a classic. When you know you are about to die make the most of it.
One of the best scenes ever, 2 heavyweights absolutely bossing it
Nicky santoro demise in casino should of been number one...that scene still haunting 24 years later
Being realistic, Tony would have died anyway just from massive blood loss.
Maybe.
SPACE MONKEY1102 id have to disagree with you
dfss csss i have to majorly disagree that is your opinion 😂 but its considered one of his best movies of all time he literally carries a movie for almost 3 hours. Its a good movie and isn’t over the top except for the ending which wasn’t bad. Ot was to show the brutal violence of the 80’s which was unheard of in The Godfather age.
Ya think ?
Scarface Haiku:
Mountains of cocaine /
My little friend says hello/
Face down in fountain
Five Families has to be 1. That's my prediction.
+Dominic Uccelli I'll take Sonny in retrospect.
Blood and gore is A-Okay but a F bomb is crossing the line.....
michael preller welcome to America
bludgeoning a man with a baseball bat and buying him alive = ok. a naked woman = not ok
You make no sense
The baptism scene in the godfather was extraordinary, with michael denouncing Satan as his men kill their targets
10:42 - “An M-16 equipped with a grenade launcher” is simply called an M203.
The M203 is the grenade launcher itself. Learn your military nomenclature before you trying to criticize
It’s simply called M203. Nobody says an M-16 with a M203 attachment.
And bitch please, I spent 10 years in a combat unit. I know military nomenclature.
I havent watched, but the hit on Sonny has to be the best.
Edit: Bravo
bushnellparty It is.
reading the book fiest as a kid, the hit on Luca effed me up
SCARFACE THE BADDEST MOVIE EVER SEEN IT MILLIONS OF TIMES
Antonio Castro best*
Reservoir Dogs, crazy ending.
Priest: "Michael Corleone, do you renounce Satan?"
Michael: "I do renounce Satan."
Double-Barrel Shotgun: *BOOM BOOM*
You missed the mark...You should have looked at “HOODLUM”
My family grew up next to Anthony Spilotro (Nicky Santoros character in Casino) and he used to pay the neighborhood kids lots of money to write down the license plates of all cars near his house hahaha
Suave Joker Why would he do that?? If you'd care to explain.
@@nirvanalama8493 maybe he know a police officer how work in license plates and he can ask for supect car who is it
sorry for my english
pcnote ohk. thanks mate!! And your English is fine. It's just a language, as long as the other understand it's just a form of communication. Cheers!! 👍
The Untouchables: baseball bat
Mhm. Sonny's death still gets me to this day.
0:25
Poor Don Ciccio, all he wanted to do was meet you at the bookstore.
nicky and dominick santoro from casino was one of my all time favorite scenes from a movie... it was graphic and violent but the entire time you felt bad for nicky as he begged for his brothers life.
I think Cousin Marv in The Drop was very well done, especially considering it was James Gandolfini's last role.
My favorite hit was the Baptism Scene in Godfather, personally
Luca Brasci - The Godfather
That one is so laughable, I love it!
he sleeps with the fishes
9:28 "Short" fuse. That's cold.
There was no hesitation in the casino hit with the bats none whatsoever
Huh, so Vincent and Jules killed Brett becuase he wacked Jimmy Hoffa :P
Payback's a bitch, is it?!
Exactly
Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, & the guy from "My Cousin Vinny" are in every mob movie.
The guy from "My Cousin Vinny" is Joe Pesci.
Please just stop
+Neel Joshi Ah, thx. I couldn't think of it.
+Johnny Knoneborg I will not.
Because they're the better italian actors, and usually the mob is thought to be italians.
This is the best list you've come up with.
How about “leave the gun, take the cannolis”. Classic
