Old Aatrox was great, I personally think new Aatrox fits the character concept better and I wish they made original Aatrox differently as a different character, it would've been awesome to see that kit still around.

I do love Nunu's rework, it really gave his old self a new way to shine while keeping the essence of the champion almost intact, both in gameplay and visually speaking. I do still believe Fiddlesticks' rework is the best tho; not only giving it the same change from "trolly-meme" pick into "if the fiddlesticks is good, you're kinda screwed" pick, but also probably the best visual upgrades League will ever see. He used to be cute when walking arround jumping on his sticks, now you can actually scare people with your ultimate and the uneasyness of going against a dominating fiddlesticks is kinda awesome. Also, the fact that he is one of the few specialists in the game, imo just a little behind Singed in terms of playstyle uniqueness (centered arround NOT being there and be seen the least), and that Riot was able to actually upgrade that aspect of him is astonishing. Yeah, I may be biased since he's my main and yes, specialists have that weird appeal to them, but honestly, it's just such an awesome rework. I'd love to see a Fiddlesticks analysis on him and his horror oriented playstyle/design/overal concept standpoint. Anyways, I love your content
I love specialists but I don't think you can really say any is more unique than the rest as they're pretty much centred around being unique, Azir is insanely unique with his soldiers being how he attacks and positioning them mid combat as a strange dps mage, singed being an ap bruiser who does damage by moving around people correctly and applying damage where he goes, Fiddle centring around not being seen and tricking people as you said, even Cho'Gath you'd think "they're not unique" but they're a pure ap tank predominently a spell caster who scales with health and ap. Gangplank being incredibly unique in concept that he does damage by catching people out with his barrels and the rest of his kit is pretty much utility. Gnar pretty much being an odd mix of tank, poke mage and bruiser with all sorts of stuff crammed in. Azir, Singed, Fiddle and Heimerdinger are probably the most unique specialists Gangplank is up there in concept too. I want more of the rare classes to make resurgences; specialists, battlemages, control mages, artillery mages.
You forgot to mention Nunu's new death animation, the worst in the entire game D: Fantastic video, Nunu became one of my fav champs to play after his rework. He is so fun now.
I actually liked old design more because I loved his AP kit and snowballing then to dead or being supp with his blood boil to help adc like Tris and slow targets (and ensuring killing cannon with consume 😅). But I must say rework was deserved and well executed.
so many of my mastered champs are ones that have been reworked, and nunu was no exception. I remember some esports player said it best "Nunu doesn't jungle, he makes sure the enemy doesn't jungle." and i loved that cheese
I'd also like to add that old nunu was a really Derpy design with a weird voice and wonky animations.. but this new design, retains the same general silhouette bus is so rich in character, full of whimsy and wholesomeness
Old Nunu was absolutely an insane champion in lane. His old snowball was point and click slow with 100% AP scaling, Blood Boil allowed you to run in and Snowball. Consume allowed you to deal with any counter pokes or trades and stay on top. His old kit synergized perfectly together. Not saying it was better or worse than new Nunu. It was more fun in some ways but the new W is pretty fun as well. I think he's more troll now than back then, though
I am nunu main. He has the best rework. My original account is itsnotwilliam and about 2 years ago I made an account called Nunu and William, and now the meme is an actual thing LMAO.
Became a Nunu main about a year ago. Been playing for 3 or 4 years. Never knew his Rework was on Aug 28th 2018. Aug 28th is my Birthday. League gave me a present before I even played the game.
8:40 Not to be a pedant, But originally they used Clairvoyance and Clarity for disco nunu, Clairvoyance because it shines a light down from above like a disco ball alongside oracle lens and clarity because its blue I guess since blue build was also a troll setup in some cases too
I actually started league like 2 days after his rework and to this day I still play him I've branched off to Amumu and Vi for JG but nunu still holds a special place
Nunu (reworked) was my first ever main in league of legends and has helped me a lot when I was learning the jungle role for the first time. Very happy to see how much has changed.
I love the Nunu rework! As someone who played back when LoL was a new release, I always enjoyed jungling with Nunu because he was one of the only characters that COULD jungle. when the game was released, it was basically impossible to jungle from level 1, so you would start Nunu in the top lane (in a 2-1-2 lane split) and head into the jungle after getting a few levels of experience. At that point, you became invisible to everyone -- you didn't have CC or damage, so you couldn't really gank lanes. Basically, you were leaving your top to get solo experience and farm, and since they were probably solo against two enemies, they would have to do so near their tower. Nasus was one of the best partners for this strategy, since his passive lifesteal could keep him healthy, he could use Spirit Fire to clear waves, Wither made him VERY difficult to tower dive, and he loved solo farm. As LoL started to evolve, Nunu just got left behind. The re-work pushed him back into relevance. He's definitely a gum among the re-worked champions, and exemplary of how far LoL has come as a game (unfortunately, the community is still a dumpster fire).
Imo, the best rework (at least balance wise) is 100% Warwick. Hes had one, i repeat ONE balance change since his rework, and i believe it was an extremely minor power shift (like nerfed one part of his kit while subsequently buffing another). The rest of his changes are simple bugfixes, and there havnt been that many at that. Hes definately League shining example of a perfectly balanced champ.
It's great to see Nunu& Wilump get the attention they deserve for being a fun and wholesome champion to play after he was reworked. The aura changed so drastically for the better. Speaking of changed drastically ,this video would be an appropriate Segway into Sion as far as the rework Champs go, his mention here just begs it.
Nunu back in the day when counterjungling was an actual thing was so fun, probably when I enjoyed playing jungle the most. That being said, with how the jungle has changed, old Nunu became pointless and the new Nunu is also a lot of fun to play, albeit for entirely different reasons.
Ah, the old Nunu. I miss the time i were build full Ap and throw Iceball to enemy then just stand and Ctrl + 4 while using Nunu bot skin, fun memory. I love Nunu and Willump. Their visual, the kit, the story,...just everything about them after the rework.
I always love seeing your thoughts on reworked champions! since they just announced a Sivir mid-scope update, it might be fun to see your predictions on what might change with her kit. could make a neat video!
ah yes nunu and william, the only jungler I can play because of his stupidly high gank tempo that compensates for my lack of map awareness and knowing where to be
People don't usually think of her because she didn't *technically* get a VGU, if you showed a player launch Sona and Modern Sona they would shine she did. She got a complete ability overhauls revamping the entire principle of her kit sans ultimate and passive. She got a rework to her personality, backstory, and voice. She got a revamp to all her VFX, She got a massive addition to her passive that supports and fuels her identity as a rapid-fire spell slinger support. But she got all these at separate times and patches. The only thing she is missing is a new physical model.
installed league>reached lvl 30,>2nd ranked game >met an enemy nunu for ist time ( i was adc and wasnt allowed to farm)>locks in the champ for the rest of my life>love makin people go afk XD
I miss old Nunu. I would play his Grungy skin (the one that was a Sesame Street reference) and my friend would play Dragonslayer Vayne and we would go bot. We called it Blue Man Crew. All I would do is max Blood Boil, cast it on my friend, and spit loogies (his old E) for free due to his old passive. I think we played around 50 games as that duo and we literally had 100% win rate. It helps that he's a master rank player and this was back in 2013, but it was so much fun. The most free wins I've ever had.
I think the only major thing I dislike about his kit is that every long range ability or ultimate has some sort of signal its coming before its actually there (Sion, Kled, Pantheon, Warwick). I think Biggest Snowball Ever! needs something like that
Pre rework nunu was NOT trash. His random kit was EXTREMELY fun to play. He was a B tier jungler from release to rework and the best counter jungler in the game.
You mentioned old Mordekaiser/Swain players missing their old iterations. You know what I miss the most about Mordekaiser? The music thematic in his abilities. That used to just make me feel good. As for Swain, however, what I enjoy the most post-rework is his interactions with other characters and his voice lines. Swain is just a very cool character now.

I’m surprised you haven’t done a retrospective on the Kayle rework. I feel like the entire community forgets how this rework exists until Kayle becomes meta for one patch- so basically the same situation as pre rework. Only difference is that Kayle is no longer gold & cooldown dependent but instead is gold & level dependent. And her Q is a skill shot, but she’s fundamentally almost the same character pre rework for all the wrong reasons.
in terms of Kit I like Old Nunu better but new Nunu's look is really amazing. Old Nunu is just so different, yes, he's 1 dimensional but he's really fun to play with. He has targeted slow and speed up so he's a perfect utility jg.
i dont care how much better the new nunu is, i will never be able to enjoy him as much again. playing full ap midlane was the best time of my life, all i saw were people raging as they saw my hp go from 10% to 70% midfight
I used to love old Nunu as a support. Very cursed to just go munch enemy jg camps and then come back and ice blast + buff the ADC. It was not good but it WAS fun!
Could you do a similar video for Evelyn's? Before her rework, at one point she was considered the worst champion in the game. Picking her was a bannable offense for intentional feeding. Her rework made her relevant again and was well worth the effort.
New nunu is by far so much better. But oh man, old nunu was strong that is the only thing you got wrong. Think of ivern playstyle but 5x more degenerate. He could take all of his camps, than go steal your camps and without very good teamwork you would never stop him. His W + swiftness boots + Q 50 base move speed (it used to give him base stats for every monster he killed with it)+ his E slow meant you would NEVER Catch him. He let me hit gold for the first time and I had an 85% wnrate on him. HE could never 1 vs 1 anyone, but he literally starved the enemy jungle so hard and could permanent gank lanes (which wasn't a thing back than because you needed to farm jungle to get exp). Good times man
I do still miss the old Nunu from time to time. Something about taking grasp and autoing the enemy jungler to death while perma slowing them was just so satisfying
I have a funny opinion about yone. He is done right. He is basically the anime swords man who duel wields and is too powerful to make reasonable sense. He is easy to play for a first timer, which makes him signify the anime MC who didn't need to do much to gain his power, he just is. And if he is played well he is just the anime sword man, who is just too powerful and nothing can defeat him. Edit: this is a joke but also kinda true. Though I don't like yone still.
The only criticism I have is that the Nunubot skins voice got changed and is missing a few of Angry Gorans lines. But its still really close and really good, plus they gave him a disco skin. Oh and his new voice lines reference other classic league memes.
My one problem with the Nunu rework is that they turned him into a spam ganking jungler, when that was never supposed to be his identity. But they did at least keep his most iconic abilities, and his role (though I find it kind of unbelievable that Riot actually did reworks that straight up change the role of a champion, like how Aatrox was turned from a skirmisher to a juggernaut, or how Sion was turned from a burst mage/skirmisher to a vanguard), while giving more gameplay for both the player and the opponents, so it's still a success overall.
I only miss old nunu because i would go full ap and just press e on someone and chunk them for half their health wait 4 seconds and do it again idk why i just found it really fun
I'm probably one of the few who still misses the old WW and Nunu(and Eve but we don't talk about that). Also Akali and Aatrox had really good reworks 8n hindsight. Not sure why everyone was so pissed about it.
I like non-confrontational and unconventional play patterns, so personally I disagree. In my opinion part of the fun of the game was stripped away when it was slowly made into the homogeneous combat focused game it is now. Split pushing, Counter Jungling, Proxy Farming, Funneling, Fasting, River Twitch, are all very good things to have exist. It's just never good for it to be the best.

@@nechocat1234 by God you recovered a memory I had lost, played that thing 3 times and feed all of them
I'd say it's because Riot realized that the janky World of Warcraft artsyle wasn't popular anymore and made an effort to make N&W actually appealing to look at
I Like the wanky janky style..
Warcraft 3 esque league was soul. This new anime style has gotten stale.
@@beiwubsnsod7378 I don't think that LoL is becoming an anime game, I think it's becoming too realistic looking. Master Yi has a signature odd looking sword. Yone has realistic looking swords. Piltover used to actually look steampunk. Now it looks like modern England. They traded artsyle for realism and it just doesn't have the same vibe
@@beiwubsnsod7378 True, I sure miss when every design was super incompetent generic WOW mob number 78. Old league was so much better!
But in all seriousness, I don't get this opinion. Most of the new champs(between 2014 and 2020, at least) and reworks are just actually good unique designs, and even though I wish I could play old champs again, you can't say that the new designs don't communicate the champ's fantasy, gameplay and lore better than the old ones.
7:54 Malphite, I actually thought of something that keeps he's main way of gameplay while improving his engangement:
E:Rock-Rockket
Malphite Dashes Forward, Stopping on Champions, Epic Jungle monsters knocking all targets up(for 0.6 sec) and Bonks Over walls, land area applies the knock up.
Charge:Increases range and cc(up to 1.5sec)
Molten:Casts immedietly with maximum charge.
R:Built To Handle
Remade :malphite cancels This ability into another, Giving it Molten.
Malphite Punches the ground in cone, The middle Crushed into magama, dealing Magical Damage, and Crippling until Dusted targets, that are rooted instead(Last 3 seconds) and the sides become a Slow area That Applies dusted.
Dusted: Deals additional magic damage For 5 seconds every Champion or maphite hit, and Reduces their vision.
(3 stacks, 30/25/10 cooldown each)
Even if they came out bad I would still play them because OMG THEIR INTERRACTIONS ARE WAAAY TOO ADORABLE. I cant wait to spend more time with this duo in song of nunu.
13:00 song choice on point octopath ost is goated
I’m so glad you made a statistic video on my favorite champion Vars. As a nunu main since 2016, even tho he was pretty bad at team fights, I like stealing objectives and buffing my allies wherever I go. Now I love he play style more being able to run the entire map while still stealing/taking objectives. He still is to this day my favorite champion. Thanks Vars! Love this video along with fiddlesticks too :D
Ay nice to see someone continue to enjoy their main after a rework, that's rare :D
@@pebblebrowser I know. My three mains are Nunu, Fiddle, and voli ever since I started playing league and seeing the reworks made me so glad that they got it before riot stopped making more reworks
I just really miss old Aatrox.. He was one of the most unique champions due to the way he could chose to deal more dmg and sacrifice his health, or go into vampire sucking sustain mode with the toggle of w. I really loved it, as it was such a unique concept.
OG Aatrox after his mini rework was the best imo
Old Aatrox was great, I personally think new Aatrox fits the character concept better and I wish they made original Aatrox differently as a different character, it would've been awesome to see that kit still around.
Kayn?
@@FireDarkNinja I like how ppl dont dislike new aatrox, they just love the original
@@radjetpack631 kinda, some people think he’s Riven 2 and I think they’re dumb for thinking that but I dunno.
I love both versions they’re awesome, I think Aatrox is deffo better as a juggernaut than a duelist anyeay
I like the new Nunu, very fun to play, but ain't nothing about old Nunu intact lol
You forgot to mention Nunu's new death animation, the worst in the entire game D: Fantastic video, Nunu became one of my fav champs to play after his rework. He is so fun now.
I know you love Urgot, we NEED his rework retrospective
Nunu OTP here
Wdym? I said his visual update was phenomenal
@@VarsVerum but not enough times UnU he's too cute
Draven is excited for this. Brother Nono doesn't look like a dropped baby, and Brother William doesn't look like Freddy Krueger anymore.
The Frostlands.. nice
Once again your music taste is fantastic, and this choice is subtle yet impeccable hehe
You know what, I'm down, his new name is Nunu and Williams
I am nunu main. He has the best rework. My original account is itsnotwilliam and about 2 years ago I made an account called Nunu and William, and now the meme is an actual thing LMAO.
You're fast
Became a Nunu main about a year ago. Been playing for 3 or 4 years. Never knew his Rework was on Aug 28th 2018. Aug 28th is my Birthday. League gave me a present before I even played the game.
Old Nunu, and Panth where my favorite Supports, that helped me get Diamond before 2015
8:40 Not to be a pedant, But originally they used Clairvoyance and Clarity for disco nunu, Clairvoyance because it shines a light down from above like a disco ball alongside oracle lens and clarity because its blue I guess since blue build was also a troll setup in some cases too
I actually started league like 2 days after his rework and to this day I still play him I've branched off to Amumu and Vi for JG but nunu still holds a special place
I’m glad you made this video 😃I’m new to league and I love seeing the evolution of the game
Nunu (reworked) was my first ever main in league of legends and has helped me a lot when I was learning the jungle role for the first time. Very happy to see how much has changed.
The Thresh at 8:10 really fumbled the bag on that Flay
Literally played league for years…. I was today years old when I found out that the yeti is Willump, and the child is Nunu… Nunu is such a yeti name 😂
1:34 ok im officially calling him nunu and william now, that goes so hard
I just want to point out the gigabrain Senna at 13:42. I didn't even realize Senna could target her q at wards.
She got a revamp to all her VFX,
She got a massive addition to her passive that supports and fuels her identity as a rapid-fire spell slinger support.
But she got all these at separate times and patches. The only thing she is missing is a new physical model.
the thing that I like the most in this champ, I get two souls when I play Senna...
full ap predator nunu was sooo fun, you activate predator run on the lane press e enemy loses 40% hp and you just walk off
On a note of how they are seperate characters but function as one, when thresh is nearby and they die, they drop two souls.
It's more of an a Easter Egg than a Gameplay Standpoint
I used to wreck people with the old Nunu, I love the the move speed attack speed buff
I play wild rift and recently bought them and gotta say, they are extremely fun to play!
One step closer to Sion.
That sneaky Yone at 14:02
installed league>reached lvl 30,>2nd ranked game >met an enemy nunu for ist time ( i was adc and wasnt allowed to farm)>locks in the champ for the rest of my life>love makin people go afk XD
I loved old Nunu's E. if you were slowed, consider you're doomed and dead. This slow was epic.
Nunu has one of the best reworks in the game imo. I believe it’s on the same level as the Warwick rework
I think the only major thing I dislike about his kit is that every long range ability or ultimate has some sort of signal its coming before its actually there (Sion, Kled, Pantheon, Warwick). I think Biggest Snowball Ever! needs something like that
The first premiere i ever watched im glad it was vars
Pre rework nunu was NOT trash. His random kit was EXTREMELY fun to play. He was a B tier jungler from release to rework and the best counter jungler in the game.
5:56 similiar to smite's bakasura, hes one reliebly damaging ability is can't be used on gods, making it worthless in combat.
My very first Pentakill was with old Nunu ult back in s5
You mentioned old Mordekaiser/Swain players missing their old iterations. You know what I miss the most about Mordekaiser? The music thematic in his abilities. That used to just make me feel good.
As for Swain, however, what I enjoy the most post-rework is his interactions with other characters and his voice lines. Swain is just a very cool character now.
And now infinite ulti is back
Nunu & william was a good rework

I’m surprised you haven’t done a retrospective on the Kayle rework.
I feel like the entire community forgets how this rework exists until Kayle becomes meta for one patch- so basically the same situation as pre rework. Only difference is that Kayle is no longer gold & cooldown dependent but instead is gold & level dependent. And her Q is a skill shot, but she’s fundamentally almost the same character pre rework for all the wrong reasons.
She was second in the poll where Nunu was chosen as the next Rework Retrospective, so she's probably getting one next month.
old ap nunu played so funnily, was my favorite
"playing nunu was like a singleplayer game"
Ironic
I actually miss the old ap nuke nunu running into lanes throwing your E and running away and chunking someone for like 1/3rd their health was great
in terms of Kit I like Old Nunu better but new Nunu's look is really amazing. Old Nunu is just so different, yes, he's 1 dimensional but he's really fun to play with. He has targeted slow and speed up so he's a perfect utility jg.
I remember when nunu was pretty much a big ass rectangle running around
I think there was a time around 2011-2012 when counterjungling was big and so was Nunu.
i dont care how much better the new nunu is, i will never be able to enjoy him as much again. playing full ap midlane was the best time of my life, all i saw were people raging as they saw my hp go from 10% to 70% midfight
I used to love old Nunu as a support. Very cursed to just go munch enemy jg camps and then come back and ice blast + buff the ADC.
It was not good but it WAS fun!
Old nunu support was LIFE
Could you do a similar video for Evelyn's? Before her rework, at one point she was considered the worst champion in the game. Picking her was a bannable offense for intentional feeding. Her rework made her relevant again and was well worth the effort.
Im pretty sure he already made evelyn video
Old nunu mid full ap was the funniest shit ever. Have barely played new nunu but from what full ap isnt as fun
Finally you made a video on my boys!
Noot Noot and Wilfred
I have a funny opinion about yone. He is done right. He is basically the anime swords man who duel wields and is too powerful to make reasonable sense. He is easy to play for a first timer, which makes him signify the anime MC who didn't need to do much to gain his power, he just is. And if he is played well he is just the anime sword man, who is just too powerful and nothing can defeat him.
Edit: this is a joke but also kinda true. Though I don't like yone still.
This was a nice rework.
But Riot made Sejuani dirty, taking her old E and giving it to Nunu while she remained with barely no aoe cc.
The only criticism I have is that the Nunubot skins voice got changed and is missing a few of Angry Gorans lines. But its still really close and really good, plus they gave him a disco skin. Oh and his new voice lines reference other classic league memes.
I really hope that Riot will do something with Nunu and William, something like Gentleman Cho'Gat, Nunu and Wilump in costumes wher Wilump now William
I can't get over how Nunu looks in the splash art 💀
6:18 what the hell is this Kog'Maw attack speed?!?!
Strated the vid and then I hear the music, Octopath Traveler great choice.
I'm not going to lie I didn't know the snowballs were a root. I guess I've never been hit by it.
I only miss old nunu because i would go full ap and just press e on someone and chunk them for half their health wait 4 seconds and do it again idk why i just found it really fun
Name of the first song?
I'm probably one of the few who still misses the old WW and Nunu(and Eve but we don't talk about that).
Also Akali and Aatrox had really good reworks 8n hindsight. Not sure why everyone was so pissed about it.
What the soundtrack at 3:00
MY MAN ORNN GETS A MENTION POOOOOOOOOG
I like non-confrontational and unconventional play patterns, so personally I disagree. In my opinion part of the fun of the game was stripped away when it was slowly made into the homogeneous combat focused game it is now. Split pushing, Counter Jungling, Proxy Farming, Funneling, Fasting, River Twitch, are all very good things to have exist. It's just never good for it to be the best.
I cannot wait for people on reddit to complain to Vars on how Nunu and Willump was better before the rework because Nunu was legal and passable.
