Here's a weird first-AB home run: Hall-of-Fame knuckleballer Hoyt Wilhelm. He homered in his first MLB at-bat then never hit another home run for the rest of his 21-year career. He retired one year before the introduction of the DH rule, so he had plenty of opportunities to bat for himself.
1:30 "Swing and drive. Belted right. WELCOME TO THE SHOW!!!!"
What isn't said in the video of Willson Contreras's first-AB home run is that he hit it on the first pitch. (What's even more amazing is that two of Willson's teammates that year had also homered in their first MLB at-bats: Jason Heyward and Jorge Soler.)
Not sure how far back you go but 1986 Will Clark's first at bat was against Nolan Ryan and he homered.
This was Story's 2nd and 3rd at bat. He grounded out in his FIRST at bat.
Michael I think he meant first PITCH homeruns
@@elitespartan53782nd at bat was an 0-1
Gotta included Esteban Yan on one of these you do!
Felix Martinez also had hit his first HR on the pitch before, but it wasn't Felix's first AB.
Didn't Adam Wainwright homer in his first at-bat? I think it was in San Francisco
May 24, 2006 - First pitch, even.
I enjoy the intro better since it doesn't blast my speakers and ears out. Lol.
That was actually Story's second at bat
starling marte is amazing
Jose Offerman
Alex Cabrera
No Chase Utley?
Was the Heyward HR off of Carlos Zembrano?
It looks like it.
And you know Zambrano was steaming after that. Man had a short fuse.
Zambrano went home and blackened his wife's other eye that night.
@@mikevisby8744lol thought the same thing after seeing that. Big Z had to be livid haha
Can't stand how small Yankees Stadium is down the lines. Shit is ridiculous smh.
Fenway Park is smaller in both left and right field.
Story's home run is why you only got 9k views.
