It's funny to see the reactions of the hitters! Some of them are like "ain't no way you just did that" and some are like "I can't even be mad, that was impressive"
I know lol. Half the hitters are just smiling after they see the catch
well those are the only 2 reactions you could have ..
So true lol
It's probably easier have the "I can't be mad" reaction when you're down 9-1 like at 8:40.
What I'd like to see is the pitcher's reaction throughout the whole thing. We usually get the "ah shoot, so much for that" look, but never how it changes after the catch is made.
Gary Matthew Jr. will always be tops @ 7:49. Sun bearing down, back to the ball, twisting grab, 180. Difficulty level is off the charts
Exactly. Still the best, IMHO. I'm very surprised that they had Pillar's Blue Jays catch shown after... since GM Jr's had a higher degree of difficulty.
Totally agree. He had his back completely facing the plate, and he had to take his eye off the ball at the end, effectively making a blind catch.
It was so good it actually made the next 3 look kind of average
It would be the best catch jumping off the wall. Mike Trout did not need the wall. As a matter of fact, the wall made it difficult for Trout to keep the ball in the glove.
the timing couldnt be any more perfect, absolute skill
7:49 "looking for a single instead he gets ROBBERY" some of the funniest calls are the unintentional ones
8:41 incredible sportsmanship. He got robbed and applauded the man who did it.
I think he probably didn't really care too much since they were up 9-1 in the 9th.
you still would love to have a hr, for your average and for personal accomplishment so I think you're wrong@@BenSmith56789
Incredibly cringe comment. Plzzzzz like my comment 🥴
Solid career move really. Makes you look like a champ.
Same goes for Machado's reaction to getting robbed at 5:02
What kills me is the police officer at 7:08 😂
I mean, they are probably fans just as much as everyone else there. lol
@@JaredGoofball Oh wow, I thought they were just apathetic robots… good to know lol
@@John_C7 you may be joking. But some people do believe that
@@JaredGoofballno they don't. They just believe they're bad people. And a lot of them are
@@ccjl9160 a lot of them still numbers less than 2%.
😂😂😂 the police officers reaction in the Boston bullpen.
That's a cop who is as much a fan in that stadium as anyone else. Gotta love that.
@@UltimaKeyMaster He might have had a bet down!
He was there for Papi's GS too, right?
@@synthclassic6304 yeah
@@mm2downy He's a legend
Glad they had Griffey in there, but Jay Buhner's catch at Fenway needed to be in those clips too. He actually did go over the wall in right field to make the catch.
7:27 everyone cheering while his teammate is making sure he doesn’t fall and hurt himself #respect
The first Pillar catch is a lot more insane than you think. His body was not in a good position to catch it, as the ball was heading straight for him at the waist, he had to adjust his glove, and still had to catch the ball with his glove "overhand." It's a really uncomfortable way to catch it and often leads to a drop, but he had enough power to squeeze it at the end of the glvoe as well
The cop going nuts about Mookie's catch at 7:34 was fantastic
I miss not being able to watch baseball. Got rid of cable in 2012 when I could no longer afford it. Don't get regular TV where I live either. This was great to watch. Thank you. ❤
just pirate it?
Yeah, same here. I live vicariously through game highlights now.
I literally just find some stream online for every game. Haven't had cable in the last 5 years, haven't missed a game because of it
IPTV exists, and it's cheap ($10 to $15 per month). Just don't pay for more than a month at a time because services tend to come and go.
Trouts amazing, as an angels fan I feel bad for trout because our franchise has been wasting his talent
Trout's made better catches.
@@guppybill yeah, that's what I'm saying. Trout is too good to be on the Angels
Trout has been in his shadow since 2021 when Ohtani became a "true two-way player", but I believe that a "healthy Trout" is the only baseball player who can compete with Ohtani.
@@KanetsuguNaoe1112 Are you forgetting a healthy Aaron Judge and a healthy Acuña Jr.?
Some guys just aren’t winners and Trout may be the best example in all of sports ever. It used to be Dan Marino. Now it’s Trout. Dudes a loser. Some guys don’t know how to get it done and just accumulate stats. Losers lose. Some of it’s luck but some guys just don’t know how to win
no way the catch to save mark burhle's perfect game isn't on this video
MLB left the DeWayne Wise catch off?
I know it's the wrong sport, but...
C'MON MAN!
To quote the announcer of said catch...
"YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPING ME!"
How is Gary Matthew's Jr's catch not number 1 when you consider both the difficulty of the play and the fact the real robbery was AFTER the play when he stole $50 million from the Angels for 0.0 net bWAR in 3 years?
I loved emotional the reaction of the athlete at 6:22. Amazing catch!
Why isn't the Endy Chavez catch from Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS on here?
That catch might be the greatest playoff of the last 30 years.
5:03 I have so much respect for this
Always love to see it when the batter shows respect too.
1:57 Perfect crowd. No f***ing idiot trying to reach in for the ball
exactly
*Steve Bartman sweating profusely*
@@ItzSeannyy I personally spoke with Moises Alou about this. I happened to be sitting next to him behind home plate at a Marlins game in 2015.
Versus the Yankees, at Fenway Park? Anyone who interfered with that play would have been beaten within an inch of their life. They knew the drill.
@@RobotSavetheworld The Boston fans know the drill. The two idiots at Yankee Stadium that almost shattered Mookie Betts' wrist certainly didn't. Season ticket holders. Unbelievable. I was completely neutral in the WS up until that point. So glad the Dodgers won.
The amazing thing about Aaron Judge’s robbing Ohtani’s hr is that Judge blasted a mammoth hr in the bottom half of the same inning. Big guy was just showing him how it’s done
That Gary Matthew’s jr catch will always live in my head rent free
I know it wasn't a home run, but I absolutely love that clip of Steven Kwan diving to catch a foul ball and falling over the side fence into the crowd and catching it. Go Guards!!
I love how everything on TH-cam is "insane". Lot better than the old days when all we had to watch was sane stuff
No Endy Chavez catch is crazy
Not only was that an outstanding catch, he turned two on it AND it was during the NLCS so the stakes were sky high.
Mookies catch was my favorite as a long time Red Sox fan.
Bellingers catch is my favorite, hes my favorite and he’s making a comeback
Gary Matthews Jr was the greatest catch of all time
Mike tauchmans walk off robbery against the cardinals not being on here is insane
I don’t understand why they always disrespect the cubs
El más épico
Manny Machado and Adam Jones compañero 😅😅😅😅😅boltimore clásico mundial
My guy, I keep seeing you everywhere. I ain’t even a Chicago fan bruh. Saw you saying something on the Bulls then Bears and finally Cubs.
@@flareon6472😂😂😂
Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley were definitly treats for Boston in the outfield. You dont wanna hit it to people like that…just incredible athletes
You can’t do a video of Best catches in Baseball without showing Griffey Jr and Trout’s amazing catches!! But there were so many more! Hunter taking the HR away from Bonds was Awesome!!! Bonds reaction was just as good!!! Man, Ya Gotta Love The Game Of Baseball ⚾️
9:00
70% of the earth is covered in water, the rest is covered by Jim Edmonds.
I'm kinda surprised my clips aren't on here. Ain't none of y'all seen me with baby mario and baby luigi in mario baseball
3-Kiermairer, 2-Edmonds, and 1-Matthews are the 3 best as far as I’m concerned. Honorable mention to Pillar because he always seems to rob a HR at least twice a year.
I was at the game where Mookie made that catch. An amazing way to top off a great shutout win! Papi had 3 RBIs, pitching only gave up 2 hits, the catch, it was all just incredible
Edmonds catching the ball running back will never get old, what an ability.
Endy Chavez, Game 7, 2006 NLCS. How that's not here is criminal.
Also criminal are Molina and Wainwright for killing my hopes and dreams but that's another video...
Came to the comments to look for this lol
Stevie Wilkerson’s robbery remains forever underrated
Not including Dewayne Wise's catch that saved Buehrle's perfect game in the 9th inning is criminal
No one ever acknowledges the damage to the wall lol
4:53 that was such an impressive catch, even Manny tipped his helmet
Dude that first guy, he jumped, reached the peak of his jump and then somehow moved a little higher lol nuts
It's pretty poetic to go from Aaron Judge doing it to Ohtani to having it done right back to him.
Can we hear it for these elite camera operators??? The footage is incredible now!
what abt Austin Jackson's catch vs boston in 2017 where he flipped over the wall?
Yes, August 1, 2017 Austin Jackson leaps against the center-field wall and flips upside down, landing in the Red Sox bullpen and robbing Hanley Ramirez's homer IS MISSING from this video.
That entire game was probably the best game of that entire season. Lead changes, acrobatic plays, and and a walk-off homer to go from losing to winning
Jake Fraley’s HR robbery and the awareness to get the double play needs to be in this. Saved the game too
No Endy Chavez? C'mon.
I find the lack of Otis Nixon's 1992 catch in this compilation very disturbing.
Once again Otis Nixon is robbed of due recognition on this list. He must know how the Pirates felt back in 92 when he robbed them.
9:34 Trout has been in his shadow since 2021 when Ohtani became a "true two-way player", but I believe that a "healthy Trout" is the only baseball player who can compete with Ohtani.
7:34 even the police officer got hyped
Home run robberies but the announcers get more excited each time*
8:47 anoncer: “this house is alive”
The score: 💀
Endy Chavez Game 7 2006 NLCS should be here.
U can't have a highlight reel for home run robberies without Jim Edmonds.
Damn, Judge robs a homerun then gets robbed lol
Endy Chavez in the 2006 NLCS should’ve been included on this list. Still a great video, but Chavez not only robbed a potential Scott Rolen home run but he did it full speed, slammed against the wall, then threw it into the infield to the second baseman who threw it to first for an inning-ending double play.
Mike Tauchman had the most interesting Giants career. In just 64 games, Tauchman had two incredible game-saving catches, and slammed two dynamic game-winning home runs (One with an 0-2 count, if I recall). But unfortunately he didn't do much else at the plate in the orange and black, to the tune of a 56 OPS+ (.178/.286/.283)
Bradley's catch was ridiculous. Ain't no way an away team center fielder is making that play. He knows that corner
These are all gems, but that catch by Edmonds is a honey.
0:44 Granted I don't watch basebal much anymore but in all the years I did, mostly 80's and 90's I have NEVER witnessed a pitch like that in my life. Does that particular pitch have a name and was that a softball pitch?
I think it’s a submarine pitch
The second saved the game
Senzel/Pillar one was absolutely disgusting!!!!!
Contortion, adjustment! Holding/body control, timing, and actually catching it!? 😲
I'm sorry but where is Orioles' legend Stevie Wilkerson's robbery of Jackie Bradley Jr where he swung his leg to brace himself as he fell?
9:34 this man is a flying fish. Angels in the outfield in real life.
You missed Pillar’s catch in left field against Rajai (to me more impressive than the one against Castellanos) and Tauchman’s against Burleson…
I don’t think he had to climb the wall for the one they showed lol it looked short
How could you NOT include Kenny Lofton's robbery of BJ Surhoff here? For sheer height and timing, it's the best I've ever seen, although Gary Mathews Jr. might equal it in terms of "degree of difficulty."
the AL east king first where he belongs 😌✊🏼
That's not Rafael devers
These guys deserve trampolines around the field for more dramatic catches
The best of these was easily Gary Matthews Jr. The greatest catch (and home run robbery) I ever saw was by a lesser known player named Larry Harlow of the Orioles decades ago. And you left out the one guy who has probably made more spectacular home run robbery catches than anyone . . . . Kenny Lofton.
Imagine making this list without Otis Nixon
Kevin Pallar, the art of BEING the wall
Torii Hunter was probably the first baseball player that I knew the name of when I was a kid (him or Joe Mauer), and I was a massive fan. Broke my heart when he went to the Angels- I didn't know that players could be traded or sign with other teams, so it was a bit of a rude awakening.
Kiermaier's catch is BY FAR more impressive than 95% of these. That ball was absolutely smoked; no time to setup under it and perfect the timing. Just run full speed and jump. Similar to Brandon Nimmo's robbery of Justine Turner in 2022. Weird that Nimmo or Endy Chavez's catches aren't on here, while some rather pedestrian catches are...
Tired of seeing the Betts one where he doesn't even need to jump, cuz the fence is 4 feet tall. But in typical Betts fashion, h has to be flamboyant and hang over the wall.
I think the Edmonds and Gary Mathews Jr. catches are the best I've seen.
7:30 that cop reaction is gold
i agree with the editors here : making a well timed jump to catch a homer is much harder than climbing the wall and just wait for the ball
Mookie's grab against Davis: The quip about Mookie staying in the ballpark "this time" is a reference to the Jose Abreu homer when Mookie dropped the ball as he flipped into the bullpen
Kevin Kiermaier's grab in Baltimore: Pretty much the same spot where Trout robbed Hardy; even had the same sponsor on the outfield wall where the catch was made
Gary Matthews Jr: Lamb looking for the single, instead he's got... *_ROBBERY!!!_*
2002 All-Star Game: If Torii hadn't made that grab, the 11-inning tie due to lack of remaining players wouldn't have happened
What a time to be alive great catches
0:41 that guy in the outfield ruined history 😢
This video makes you appreciate High Definition.
missing mike tauchmann's game winning robbery from last year
No Dwayne Wise? He made the best catch ever to save a perfect game in the ninth inning. We literally have a shrine for that catch, but the White Sox are forgotten again.
This just shows, without a doubt, baseball is the greatest sport ever !!!!!!@
I think 3:00 was the most impressive, hanging on the wall like that, these dudes are like ninjas
Aaron just robbered that homer from othani like he just robbered the mvp award last year (2022)
I'm glad that Bellinger is playing for the Cubs after getting traded from the dodgers
i’m getting flashbacks to the burleson one against the cubs…
Gary Matthews Jr is the best number one
Jim Edmonds is crazy because that ball was so close to the ground.
1a. GMj
1b. Edmonds
2. Pillar (second one...tho the first is way up there given last second adjustment).
3. Trout and Keirmeier. Very much the same. Extreme high pointing after long run and max full extension.
Nimmo's robbery got robbed
no endy either.
@alecbormia4523 that's exactly what I said.
That's the best catch I personally have ever seen in my life
@@theman13451 those are prob the top two for me.
6:26
I was at that game. Mullins single handedly won that game for the Orioles. He didn’t even start, came off the bench and took over the game.
Both Trouts and Davis’ from 2012 were both so good
You gotta respect the wall jump
Nothing will beat DWANE WISE's perfecto saver
You know it’s gonna be a good video when the title says the clips get increasingly more insane when the second clip is of a stolen home run with outs at the bottom of the 9th.
Very dope video but where is the Brandon Nimmo catch against the Dodgers with Justin Turner and deGrom on the hill?
He's a Met. You'll also notice Endy's catch is somehow not on this list. Imagine having an NBA best playoff game-winners and having no Jordan shots. They can't have just forgotten. Chavez is a Met, Nimmo is a Met, so you won't see @MLB mention them ever.
Castellanos: class act.
3:06 idk what just happened
No endy Chavez???? SERIOUSLY??????
