I understand where you are coming from, right now I am struggling financially but if something was to happen, like losing my job or other price jumps I don’t have to worry because I have a good pantry. If for no other reason we should have a pantry because it saves money. I have soups in my pantry that cost 60 cents. We may never see those prices again. Even though I am poor slowly but sure I put stuff up, not just my house but my family’s houses too. I have a garden nowadays and am eating like a king for free. In my humble opinion having a pantry is a life skill.

Definitely not about fear... it is about security and most "elderly" that I know, were raised like I was (60+)... we are always prepared! Our parents were part of the Great Depression! Small changes (shortages, pandemics, blizzards, unemployment) in the world we ARE prepared for because we live the way you're teaching others! ♥️ ❤ Thanks for continuing to share and teach!

My parents are 70. My dad still hunts every fall/winter along with my brother. This fills our freezers with venison and some years boar. Having that meat helps save us so much money. Growing up in the 80's, my mom taught me how to shop sales. She taught me how to stock food, especially staples that are used frequently.

My parents were depression era babies. I was their mid-life crisis. Haha They had me in their 40s. So basically my parents were the same age as my friend’s grandparents. Now looking back I’m thankful. We had a food room growing up. It was a rule that the door always had to be shut. My parents grew up with so little that they never wanted others to see what we had as a surplus. When they were kids, people would steal food.
My parents taught me how to garden and can. My husband accepted my “addiction” (as he called it)to canning and referred to it as my hobby. When 2020 came around and we didn’t have to go to the grocery store he finally saw why I did what I did. He now buys me canning jars and asks if I have what we need for the garden. When I tell him there’s a big bag of sugar or flour that needs to be brought in, he doesn’t ask why I bought so much. It might take a while for it to click but when it clicks they will understand and be thankful.

Not about fear at all! I can not believe someone actually said that. I have learned from you how to keep stuff on hand so I CAN cook from what i have one hand and not have to go to the store every week, I end up going every week and a half for things like dairy and produce but all my pantry, freezer items are always stocked. I always look at the ads and get stuff on sale and I love when they do bogo on meats. I showed my ex's wife how to shop this way and she does it to! Saves us all a bunch at both houses. So ignore those people. You are amazing and do not think any different!

There are so many great reasons to stock up our food and toiletry supplies. and the best reason is to take advantage of good sales/coupons. Prices will continue to rise, so stocking up when the most money can be saved is winning. Food security for our families is priceless.

When my husband was home sick for 6 months, my son never realized it was a problem because of full bellies, plenty soaps, deodorant, dental care and toilet paper. It's definitely not about fear or hoarding. Growing up, we always had a well-stocked home, and we lived in a mobile home on a farm! Now that I'm married with a family of my own, I continue to keep a well-stocked pantry/home. With God's grace and a well-stocked home, we didn't have to do any kind of panic buying during the pandemic, and we don't have to run to the crowded store when the weather folks talk about an impending snow storm. Keep up the good work!

When I was first married, we had a terrible crisis in our life which did leave me fearful of where my next meal was coming from to feed our family. So I did this, If I had $20 extra dollars or was blessed with a monetary gift I would buy $20 dollars of something to fill my pantry. I started with canned meats and fish, then added veggies and so on. It took almost 8 months but we had a growing pantry and I could relax for a minute. This changed my way of shopping for life. It was an amazing lesson. I love that you let us know the sale cycles as well. You have been a great help to many families. Thank you ❤

Before following you - your TH-cam channel, I wanted to at least keep a 6 months food storage but we were walking into the grocery store 3-4 times a week. Since following your suggestions we have a basic pantry, a 6 month and a long-term food storage. When COV** hit, I felt overwhelmed (we live on an island and everything must be shipped in. Shortage means it could be 2 -3 months before seeing something.) My husband had me sit down and figure out how long we could go without shopping. Several hours later, I realized we had at least 3 months worth of staples. We had much more food and planned menus than I could have imagined. Throughout COV** we continued to shop smart and study trends, when the news announced rice and flour shortages we were able to plan that into our budget and stock up before the price hikes and product shortages happened. I can see why people feel scared, or feel like you are scaring them into action, I've been there. But I am grateful for all the tips and tricks, that you have helped me prepare my home. Thank you!

I’m an older viewer and keep my pantry pretty full and I don’t need to run out for an ingredient at any point in time because if I don’t have something on hand, I’m substituting anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️ No, I’m not fearful when someone is giving me excellent information the way you do!

We may be worried about what’s happening in the world, but those of us who have been preparing at least don’t have to worry about our food supplies. Many of my families frugal ways were ingrained into me - so that now as my hubby & I live on a retirement income (2 for hubby & 1 for me) I still use the frugal ways to keep our budget in line, cook well for us & still enjoy life (some eating out, trips,...) Now, I’ll be honest, I don’t have quite the stockpile Kimmy does, but I have a pretty good pantry. Why is it important??? Because last December I was living my life, and out of nowhere I was in a car accident and then in the hospital from an infection due to that accident for a month. I was out of work for three months with literally nothing coming in…..no money. Took me three months to get my short term disability. But, I had my pantry and made it through. I have had my own storage for years and constantly work on it. I don't do it from fear, but rather because it's wise. Old timers used root cellars. The principle of setting aside during abundance is pretty old. I've gone through lots, as we all do from time to time, and been grateful to know I had what I needed in my basement. I have never felt that you instilled fear into anyone. Emergency preparedness is such a good idea and I appreciate how you try to encourage people to just be prepared should there ever be an emergency. I can remember in my own life when my husband was out of work for about four months. It was then that we started thinking about our enormous debt. We never went without and all our bills were met - only by God's grace! We are now debt free and are putting back for that time when it might be needed most. I'm even learning to can in the event of losing electricity. I rely on my freezer and and second fridge for a lot of stuff! I wanted to do a garden, but I admit that at 65, I wasn't sure I would be able to keep up with it and it was really hot here in Texas this year. Last/this year I wasn't working for 6 months as I went through the vetting process to become a foster carer so again our preps meant we didn't need to worry. I think that 2020 has created a lot of fear in people. And even now, there are so many things we still can't get because of " broken supply chains". 😡Thank you for your channel! I have learned much. And I am older😉But I like to have supply on hand especially to help out my adult married and single children that no longer live at home. And because I hate paying full price for things!😊

I love your channel. I live in Oregon and our county has flooding every year along with debris flows (landslides). One year we were stuck in our home for 10 days without power and blocked due to road closures. We had a good supply in our pantry and that's how we survived. I also learned to have a wider variety of foods.😅. This is such a vital channel, especially for those who are just starting out. It's so sad they have taken Home Economics out of our schools. May God Bless you and your family

Who wouldn't buy a extra ham for the freezer this time of year when its .89 lb, my family doesn't buy a half cow or pig but my budget says I can always use a extra package of pork chops for $5-6 and vacuum seal it. I budget about $75 a week for my hubby and me and I'm always putting back extra cans of vegetables or anything in a box

Hi. First time I see your video. I grew up with inflation (huge in Argentina) and in a big family so I was always used to having big sizes everything in my pantry. I also hate detest not enjoy shopping so always have bought a big size of dishwashing liquid in January to last me the whole year, toilet paper to last me the whole year. You know you are going to need it so when you buy it buy also for the future. I am a senior too and can squeeze the big buys on certain months, other months have buy nothing because I want to use what I have bought. I never needed to use the big stocks until the pandemic. When that happened it was by February I had just made my stock up shopping so didn't need to go out and buy anything. I buy lots in bulk and cook from scratch. I make my own everything but that is because I am older than you and learnt how to do it. Take care!

Early in my marriage, we struggled, especially the food side. As we got control of our finances and created a budget for EVERYTHING, we were able to start stockpiling food and hygiene items. We resolved to use our tax returns to not just pay fixed bills ahead but also to stockpile shelf stable food items and freezer items, hygiene, cleaning and paper products. As friends were out buying clothes and toys, vacations, etc, with their tax returns, we were making sure we never ran out of food or toilet paper or soap or laundry products. We even moved our shelf stable stockpiles from military base to military base even overseas. Even now, 41 years of marriage later, I budget an extra $25 per week (I shop weekly) for either sale items or to buy extra items as I run low, if I don’t spend that $25 that week, it goes into a separate envelope for a Sam’s and Costco run. Between housing, utilities, car/gas and insurances, the food budget never gets cut- it is a constant, and if, because of inflation we need to adjust our grocery budget up, then we cut 1-2 other budget items like our gift budget or entertainment budget (entertainment is not a necessity, it’s a luxury, so luxury stuff gets cut first, including what we would consider luxury food items like snacks, chips, soda, candy, etc). We never want to be in a place where we have to ration our food, because without healthy fuel, we can’t work efficiently and be productive in life, I can layer up on clothing as I lower my heating bill and turn off all the lights and unplug items not used regularly (like a toaster or coffee pot, etc) but food keeps us alive!

If people are panicking now, just from hearing that they need to stock up on food, what are they going to do when the shtf and the food is so expensive due to hyperinflation that they can't afford it? That's if there's food on the shelves.

    Good afternoon,
I have been watching you for years and you have never scared me. you have taught me to shop in bulk which has helped me tons. We have had a new grocery store open close to me called Gordon's. It is a store that is made for restaurants so you can shop like at Sam's and Costco but no club fee. It is small and some items are more expensive than Sam's but some are cheaper. They have cases of all kinds of meat I bought a case of fresh chicken tenders for $65.00 dollars it was 40 lbs. I just bought a 10lb case of hotdogs for 35.00 dollars.

My family jokingly calls me a prepper, but I'm not preparing for apocalyptic scenarios. Instead, I maintain a pantry with a few weeks' worth of food, similar to having an emergency fund in the bank for unexpected situations. This proved invaluable when I lost my job and even more so after a recent tragedy struck our family. It's comforting to know that during these tough times, at least feeding my two young kids isn't an immediate concern.

I bought three large Hellmans for $1 each. Lots of meat soup sales in Dec that I canned up and my mom gave me a huge haul of frozen fruit like wild blueberries and blackberries from the local pantry. She certainly couldn’t use them all so I will process them into syrups and mixed berry pie fillings. I buy things when they are plentiful and cheaper. So many awesome deals including canned soups and a lot of organic milk and eggs that people simply cant afford now so I am meal planning accordingly and freezing breakfast sandwiches etc. My grocery spending has gone down considerably this winter. I also put less meat or seafood (like shrimp) in a recipe so I can stretch a bag of something from 2 meals to 3. All these small changes save BIG money. I agree with you on stocking. While everyone is piling into the food store this week we are don’t have to go buy a single thing. People who are afraid and shaming You Tubers on their info of food shortages are in denial. They will be tomorrows beggars sadly. Keep doing what you do. 💕
