This is what I've been doing for years. Even when meal planning, I base them on what I already have and supplement with what I don't (which is usually fresh veg or frozen) and then I use the rest of my sky budget to stock up on sale items I will use. Shopping your pantry is not just savings but also peace of mind. No matter what your family won't go hungry.
@elenacala Yes, have been doing this for decades. For example, I eat a lot of chicken, use cranberries in baking & cooking (with pork, a few beef dishes, desserts, dips, smoothies, etc). Last year at this time I picked up cranberry sauce & whole cranberry sauce, 36 cans at a buck a can (yes, full size can). Still have a few left but will go out & buy another couple of cases. I make turkey thru out the year & wish I had more freezer space. When I had a family I would have at least six turkeys in the freezer. She's spot on about knowing sales patterns & right down to what days of the sale to shop. BTW: French's BIG bag of fried onions were about a buck cheaper on Amazon than at Sam's for the same size.
I recently bought 40 lbs. of potatoes at $1.99 for ten pounds. The clerk asked, "what are you going to do with all those potatoes?" We are loading them in the car and a customer asked how I was going to store all of them. They thought we were nuts! I've gotten these kinds of reactions for years when I stock up on something when it is on sale. Most people just don't stock up like we do. I could save them so much money!!! I like having my own little grocery store at home.
I love having my own grocery store at home too. I like to say I can cook a thanksgiving dinner anytime of year. Turkey 🦃 is so inexpensive at thanksgiving it can make multiple meals and it vacuumed package so I don’t have to worry about freezer burn
@@melindaricker8443 My neighbor brought me a huge box of golden potatoes. No idea how much it weighed. They were flawed or not sellable. I spent a few days washing and scrubbing the skin. Boiled them all in 3 batches. Mashed and seasoned . Put big blobs on cookie sheets and froze them, then into freezer bags . My future self was really happy.
I have a hard time just trying to keep a 5lb bag of potatoes from going bad. I have put them in cool dark rooms, I've tried the shredded paper to separate them, etc. And my potatoes still go bad.
I do the same thing. We moved from Arizona to Oklahoma last week and I grabbed the Kroger deals. Everyone thought I was crazy but they can think that. But I saved money ❤
I love shopping the Kroger digital coupons for their weekly deals. My daughter thought I was crazy for doing it as well. But, she doesn't complain when they benefit from it. When eggs are on sale, I usually get the 5, because I will share with her.
I’ve been watching you waaaay back when and I would like to say thank you because even tho I live alone for now and I wasn’t able to go to the store for 2 mos already but I am well fed! Through these years I was able to know what are the foods I eat and was able to know if the price is a deal or not! Plus freezer meals! What a life saver. 💛
My husband and I are about to move into our first house and we're expecting our nexr baby in February, these tips and sales are going to definitely help us stock up for those busy days when we've all been sleep deprived for a few weeks
I have shopped this way all of my life and trained others to do the same. I went to my Kroger store last week. My savings was $136 and my paid out of pocket was $140. The cashier was stunned:)
Kroger (or Smith's in this case) can be a lot higher with regular prices, but their sales and digital coupons are fantastic! So are a lot of their children's clothes when they go on sale at 40% off (or more.)
In November of 2022 I stocked up on butter at $2.19/lb at Aldi and $2.29/lb at Kroger and I only recently bought butter again. I still have 2 lbs from 2022 but I want to stock back up while all the sales are happening. It was nice not having to buy butter when it was $3.99/lb!
This is great. Seniors don't know what you do. I'm 73, a Kroger manager helped put on my phone the digital a n d it took 45 minutes, but it still does not work. I saw a lady in her 70s, and she was getting the mayo for $2.99. I told her it was not on sale until fri and sat at Food City. She said I couldn't come back on those days because I had someone to bring me to day. These stories are leaving lots of older people out of getting some good sales. Just saying
Could she maybe have someone have her do a food pick up?? I get exactly what you are saying... that's something I didn't think about until you mentioned it
I would ask the cashier, to do the coupons for you that's what my mom does , I do believe it's discrimination for anyone who may not have a cell phone but for the older folks it's not right, Im sure in another decade those silent generation and boomers will be dead that leaves Generation X whom we started using computers, and phones won't need all the help. 😊.
Just a note: the Moms Best Cereal is made by the same company as the Malt O Meal cereals in the bag. The "Mom" in "Moms Best" actually is an acronym for 'M'alt 'O' 'M'eal. The ingredients and nutrition are the same, but they charge more for the boxes and market it to make it seem healthier.
When turkeys are cheap, I buy an extra (or two) and cut it up like a big chicken and freeze the parts in meal sized packages for dinners through the rest of the year.
Every time I watch you it amazes me and I end up just shaking my head! You Go Girl!!!! lol I wish I could have been listening to you about 40 years ago but I still learn a few things from you now. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving
When I'm at Winco, I always get the Family Size cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup. They're like 26 ounces (same size as the Great Value brand). Winco usually has them for like $1.23 and I'll get both cream of mushroom and chicken. Great Value brand is about 40 cents more but still cheaper than buying 2.5 cans, and most things I would use it for, I rarely use just 1 can. Love how you break this down. I also went to Grocery Outlet 4 times last week. Spend $35 and get a 13 pound Jenny-O turkey for $3.99. I just thawed and cooked them and froze for easy ready meals, and dehydrated 1 of them for dog treats and I'll freeze dry another one for dog treats and easy 'meals in a jar' that I make for my ex who is a truck driver. Thanks for breaking this all dow. Your information is invaluable. Keep doing it.
I love shopping at Winco. To me they are cheaper than Walmart, Albertsons, and Kroger. But, I do shop Albertsons and Krogers for their weekly deal specials.
Kimmy, you're the only channel I use for homecare inspiration, food purchasing especially.❤ if i feel weak about planning and supply, just need to see a few of your's video - et voila! Thanks a lot!
Hi kimmie from south africa. You tought me a lot. This is black friday weekend but i have shopped my specials at a big retailer 2 weeks ago when they had gr8 specials. Delivery is on friday and no fighting in ques or being catched for a sucker when they say its on special and actually are not. ❤
I always scan my Kroger card at the end to watch the money come off!!! I also love their 5x weekly deals. I’ve learned many tips and tricks from your videos. Thanks for sharing! ❤
We live in a small town in Central IL. I can drive 30-45 minutes to the bigger towns but I don't like doing that if I don't have other things to do. I shop the 2 stores here. This week I got veggies for .49 a can. I stocked up! I'm watching what is on sale and Friday I will go for the "clearance" foods. You know the turkey will be way cheaper. This year we are having ham that I bought this summer on sale.
Green beans and corn are .50 at Aldi. We make our stuffing with butter, crackers or bread, and soup based boullion in the jar, or add to an Aldi box of stuffing. Bargains is how we do it too.
We can get three times as many groceries for the same price at Aldi as our local grocery. Our local grocery is where is the meat sales are though. Even an hr. drive to an Aldi would help some folks if there was one within an hrs. drive. Don't know how people make it without one.
I love what you said about having extra in your pantry to help others. Donate that second 20 lb bag of potatoes to the homeless shelter. A case of cream of mushroom soup to the food pantry. These charities are always in need and being a super savvy shopper gives people a way to help without writing a check. There have been times when the store manager has allowed me to use a second coupon on the 'limit 1 coupon per person' because I've explained that it is for one of these charities.
I built up a family pantry. Bought sales and stocked for the zombie 'pocalypse. LOL. My dad gets his instant coffee, mayo, cereal, etc. 'Anything you need dad?, maybe a can of peaches, tuna, green beans, or paper goods?' Veges, fruits, tuna, SPAM, teardrop canned hams. And condiments, pastas, sauce, etc.; t.p., hygiene, etc, etc. Having backups to the 5th means I don't have to pay full price because I. RAN. OUT! And need 1 now, 😮.
I do usually do the same thing every year, but I had a cold this year, and only managed to go to Winco. I did snag their free turkey though for spending over $125. Last year I got 3 free turkeys. I asked my son and his friend to grab me a free turkey with their groceries, since they don't cook much. They were happy to do so and it cost them nothing. Don't be afraid to ask friends or family who won't use the free turkeys to get one for you. Of course do something nice in return!
We stocked up during the Holiday season and went to Kroger today for milk. Walked out with $72 worth of items but everything was marked down including butter and protein! Literally started to dance finding Challenge butter for $1!
I do the best here in MN. I’ve definitely saved TONS of money over the years. Buy multiple when it’s the cheapest. Stock up so you can just shop your shelves later. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!! 🦃🎉💕
I did the same sales at Kroger the first run. I also found organic ground beef marked down to 2.80 a lb. I may of bought ten. 😂😂😂 Thank you for sharing. I love your videos. Have a blessed holiday season.
I stock up when they have their soda deals as well. I also stocked up on that butter as well. I will probably start doing a lot of baking that calls for butter.
You can keep potatoes for a long time this way. Put them on the counter overnight so the skins are really DRY. Then layer them in cardboard boxes with sheets of newspaper between them and keep in a cool, dry place. If you don't subscribe to a newspaper, ask someone who does to save some for you OR pick up some at the Dollar Tree.
I’ve missed your videos. This one was so great. I need to write down our favorite meals we love and stock up on what we will need to make them. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Hi Kimmy am still here 😮 watch all your videos but I don’t always post, but always like. I don’t think your mad at all, love watching shopping trips as a lot of things you purchase are not available in the uk
I freeze my butter, then I make ghee. I also got 2 free turkeys. One was really small, around 7 pounds, and the second one was 17 pounds. Loved the vodeo. 😊
Excellent chocolate muffins - 1 can pumpkin (not the pie, the regular pumpkin) and 1 devil's food cake. Mix and bake at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean.
I saw the Kroger ad also but the better deal was at Sam's club. The green beans were .04 a can cheaper. I usually buy enough can goods in November to last until the spring. Stocking up is the best way to save money.
The Kroger Cut Green Beans didn't have a sale tag, though. It was an ultimate tailgate experience participating item tag. You have to pay attention so you don't confuse a sign/tag meant to draw your attention to an item to a sign/tag meant to indicate a sale on an item.
The local hareware store had stovetop stuffing for .99 (no limit). Local kwiktrip has potatoes for half the $$ you mentioned. Who would think they'd have that. 😊
You got some great deals. I always shop my Krogers because they have the best sales in my area. Don’t forget you can get a rain check if they are out of an item you want! Happy Thanksgiving!
We shop at our local Winco and spend $125 to get a free turkey. We did or twice. They also had crazy deals on fresh veggies 2lbs Taylor Farm green beans, medley vegetable mix, brussel sprouts, and Broceli. The prices were .98-1.25. At Sams Club 5.98 for the green beans and 4.98 for Brussels sprouts. Exact same brand and ounce. I purchased 10 bags and froze most of them saving over 40.00 just in veggies.
❤😊 Happy Thanksgiving to you all from me and my family here in Chicopee Massachusetts and thanks for sharing these Kimmy I enjoy watching your videos and everything else that you do.
Turkeys are ONLY cheap during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend - buy whatever you might use for the rest of the years. I like the 14-16 pound ones and I cook them in those bags - no mess and SO tender. Then I spend an hour or so picking off the meat and putting it in meal-size bags and strain and freeze the broth. I actually really like the zip loc bags at Dollar Tree. Then I have lots of turkey to last for months for all kinds of recipes. Also, check which stores are paired with Rakuten which is giving 12% cash back right now at lots of places.
I’ve learned so much from you Kimmy! What do you suggest if you don’t have your food budget? I miss feeding six people for $50/month; now it’s just the two of us.
I got some of those same sales. They were REALLY good. Side note: your car looks and sound a lot like mine. I’ve got a palisade. It was like you were me loading groceries. 😆
I shop Albertsons and Krogers mainly for their weekly specials. I love Krogers digital coupons, where I can purchase up to 5 items. Just a few weeks ago, they had 18ct eggs on sale with the coupon and I bought 5, because I will share with my daughter and also knew Thanksgiving was coming up and I would need eggs. But, I do my main shopping at Winco, which is approximately every 4-6 weeks. So, I was able to get a free turkey, since I was mainly just restocking my pantry. I'm actually using a turkey I had in the freezer from last year. I actually didn't have to buy much for our Thanksgiving dinner this year, because I have picked up stuff throughout the year on sale/discontinued/clearance.
I bought my turkey for $7.00 16Lbs, no need to buy anything else to get it at that price at my local grocery store.. Went back and got an extra turkey; A whole ham and a spiral ham and did not pay more than $10.00 for any of them.. Great bargains. Store has the same sale every year..
Last year I bought 2 turkeys at ALDI for .69/lb. Then our niece gave us one! I cooked one and used it for homemade dog food, one for casseroles and my so. Is making the last one tomorrow for thanksgiving! If I catch them on sale this year I will buy 2 more!
We sometimes end up with multiple ones, so cook them and shredded up the meat and then vacuum pack them into 1lb. Packs that I can whip out when I want already cooked meat like during the summer and I want to make a chicken salad or in the winter to use in a soup or casserole that would normally call for chicken.
I live with 3 adults, EACH adult has an account with the different stores. So when we find things that are killer deals we clip the coupons on each account, then instead of 5 of the item at that deal, we have 15.
The only place I can get stocked up is at Costco. When our stores have sales, digital coupons they put a limit of 2, so they make it really hard to stock up.
You missed the Walmart green beans (name brand) for .50 and the turkey at Kroger was on sale for .49 and the sausage I believe was $2..good buy on the broth and butter and cheese and stuffing..I stocked up on all three
This is what I've been doing for years. Even when meal planning, I base them on what I already have and supplement with what I don't (which is usually fresh veg or frozen) and then I use the rest of my sky budget to stock up on sale items I will use. Looks great but I've got so much stuff stockpiled now I can't even walk into my laundry room where my pantry is LOL
Put it under beds or behind your couch. Look for places like that. Totally get it 😅
I do stock up on the sales we do have even if the sales aren’t the best. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Kimmy’s so adorable, love watching her!! Winco is my happy place, always great deals there❤️

At Kroger in Nebraska, I've learned you don't have to buy 6 of one thing. It's all of the things that are buy 6. You can mix and match.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Kimmy!
I love what you said about having extra in your pantry to help others. Donate that second 20 lb bag of potatoes to the homeless shelter. A case of cream of mushroom soup to the food pantry. Your prices are so much better than ours, we live in Washington state, there is nothing here under 1.00 anymore even on sale prices. It’s horrible
I just bought 40lbs of sweet potatoes for $10. This is one of the best times to shop for a lot of things!
You don't have to get all 6 of one item, you can mix and match any 6 items included in the sale
Yup

Our local grocery store chain does a free turkey if you spend $300 in the month of October. It’s easy to accomplish
Oh wow!! Yes that is easy

At Sams Club 5.98 for the green beans and 4.98 for Brussels sprouts. Exact same brand and ounce. I purchased 10 bags and froze most of them saving over 40.00 just in veggies.
Hey Kimmy! You always do an amazing job👍🏻😁. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.🦃🍽️🕊️😉
Thank you Donna! Happy Thanksgiving!!!! 🦃
I love Krogers. I used to work for them twice. The guy that works there is usually there on Mondays when I'm there shopping.
Your Smith's is our Kroger - and customer service IS really good there!
❤😊 Happy Thanksgiving to you all from me and my family here in Chicopee Massachusetts and thanks for sharing these Kimmy I enjoy watching your videos and everything else that you do.
Thank you Jessica!
Welcome 😊
I wish we had a WinCo here in North Florida. Visited one when we were in Washington State and was blown away at the great prices.
Thanks for this video! Happy Thanksgiving!
You are so welcome! happy Thanksgiving!!!! P
I save the turkey bones, and make my own bone broth. You can freeze it or pressure can it.
i get my free turkey at Winco every year! LOVE THEM! Winco is my favorite grocery store. They beat walmart 9 times out of 10 on everything.
I have a big tub of that dip- I’m going to freeze it! Thanks
I’ve learned so much from you Kimmy! What do you suggest if you don’t have your food budget? I miss feeding six people for $50/month; now it’s just the two of us.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving. Love from the UK ❤
Thank you so much! happy Holidays!
You can ask to get a raincheck many stores offer that
I got some of those same sales. They were REALLY good.
Side note: your car looks and sound a lot like mine. I’ve got a palisade. It was like you were me loading groceries. 😆
That is awesome! I live our Palisade
I’m curious, at 27.44 mins, did you bring reuse store bags or buy store bags at checkout?
That’s awesome!!
On the pickles…don’t you have to buy 5 or more to get them for 1.99 though? That’s how it is at our Kroger.
I vacume seal in jars. I vacume seal OREOS and 2 years later they taste as fresh as the day I vac sealed them. awesomeness!
That is amazing!!!!! I will have to try that!
Aldis has stuffing for .95 cents a box and it taste just as good as Stove Top stuffing
It is great your saving have no room fpr anything
Great video!
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it
Okay, how do you know the "sale cycle"? And when to " hold em?"
I would love to do that Pretty Woman scene...That's a lottery win though.
Cranberry sauce was 2 for $4.. at kroger this week.. had great deals. I saved over $100 yesterday.. sweet potatoes were .25 a pound
Great prices!
I live with 3 adults, EACH adult has an account with the different stores. So when we find things that are killer deals we clip the coupons on each account, then instead of 5 of the item at that deal, we have 15.
It's my birthday on Saturday. I'm going to make cupcakes. I found these containers on Amazon that will allow me to transport them to my dad's.
Happy Birthday
@@shesinherapron Thank you.
What is that book you are using to compare prices?
But know before you go grocery price book. shesinherapron.myshopify.com/collections/price-book
The only place I can get stocked up is at Costco. When our stores have sales, digital coupons they put a limit of 2, so they make it really hard to stock up.
Just me and hubby here. How do you store and keep eatable potatoes of 40 lbs?
You missed the Walmart green beans (name brand) for .50 and the turkey at Kroger was on sale for .49 and the sausage I believe was $2..good buy on the broth and butter and cheese and stuffing..I stocked up on all three
Love WINCO but my closest store is 180 miles away. I stock up twice a year.
Walmart had canned veggies for .50 cents a can. Time to stock up.
Wow kimmy that was cheap for cambells mushroom soup here in uk it's 2.00 dollars a can doesn't go on special offers very often
I remember when I was a kid and the chicken pot pies were .25 a piece. I’m old. Lol
Do you not have an aldis there, some of these things are cheaper there at their everyday prices.
